I purchased a tune through their website and received an access port. Unfortunately, the access port would not connect to my vehicle. After working with their support, they were unable to help me connect it to my car, and suggested that I reach out to the manufacturer of the access port. When the manufacturer was unable to figure out what the issue was, I was told that my ECU ID Was modified, and they are unable to help me. After further research, I verified that my ECU was not modified, and in fact, it was a rest of world ECU which is just an "uncommon" ECU by VW. Now that I have sold my access port, per recommendation by EQT, they now support my ECU on their website. So I took a loss selling my access port at a discount when EQT could've looked into this a little further in the past. read more

I ordered EQT stage 2 tune for my Mk7 GTI. Not only did they get my order fulfilled within a rapid time (got it same day), but they went ahead and fixed a mistake that I made on my end. I broke my old access port around 6 months ago and got a new one like 2 months ago. Well, I had my old access ports serial number in my phone, not realizing I used my old serial number, not my new one, when making my order. Well, come to find out people like to scam and get 1 tune for multiple access ports had no clue this was a thing thank goodness they understood my story and they helped me and fix it and now my car is a different animal. Updated Review: Car has been running great still on flex fuel. Drove about 10k miles from 50K and no problems at all. Over 400awhp STI stock block and clutch no problems whatsoever. Ed's great at what he does and Patrick is a great help as well. Ed still replies to my emails and helps out with any questions or problems I have. Just be patient, I'm sure he has hundreds of emails on top of the amount of cars he needs to tune. EQ has one of the best services I've had from a tuner. I don't regret coming here. First thing I have to say is customer service is on point. Patrick the service advisor is the man! I send him a email and he gets back to me ASAP. He also explains things so I know exactly what's going on. He keeps me up to date on anything that is going on with my car. The mechanic that worked on my car (I forget his name but he's the shorter guy) is a good dude. Helps me out and just like Patrick he lets me know what's going on. Just got a 2006 forester that I was having problems with and I was looking for a shop that does a lot of work on Subarus. Not just Subarus but working on modified vehicles. They were able to check out my vehicle and give me a honest diagnosis. With my work schedule I can only pick up my car at a certain time but they are always able to let me keep my car overnight. If they can't they will schedule me so they have space in the shop. I have my forester going in for sti conversion and Patrick was able to source the parts and set me up for a date to get them installed and have the car tuned. A check engine light just popped and I called him and he said he'll be able to take care of when I bring in the forester for the conversion. First day I came to EQ I was impressed by the sheer amount of Subarus and GTRs that they work on. It gives me confidence that they know what they are doing. I'd recommend this shop to anyone with a Subaru or modified vehicle because they know what's going on. For the past 2 months I had been kind of in a slump with my car. I'd had the car for 2 years, 2 E-Tunes from COBB, and one from FFTEC, stuck with top-tier parts and unapologetically paid for, what I thought was, equally exceptional workmanship. As far as the car had came, I couldnt help but having moments when the car just -felt- faster; made you laugh and scared you at the same time. The car just couldn't seem to replicate that anymore, even under what was considered perfect conditions; TOYOS, E85, rolling launch. It just wasnt happening. Few guys at car meets mentioned Ed, but I wasn't convinced that it was the tune. 6 months goes by, and a good friend of mine gets his 2010 back from EQ and he was incredibly happy...and he was on 91. After my Nissan dealership, had good things to say about Ed...I had to give it a shot. Having thrown the car on the dyno before, things were already different here; he tried to make sense of what my concerns were, what my goals were, and wanted to make sure keep in mind when he was tuning it. 2 days later, the car absolutely rips on E85. The car is incredibly energetic under load, and even more so around town. It's very clear the car is making full use of all the supporting mods, and easily pushing the tires to their limits. EQTuning all the way. I drove 2 hours from San Jose to get a supercharger installed on my Scion FRS, and their reputation, experience, and service made me a happy customer. I met Patrick at the GT86 Summer Kickoff meet in Livermore, CA and already knew that I wanted to go forced induction. We spent a while on email talking about several kits, and I finally decided on the Jackson Racing supercharger (CARB legal), oil cooler, and Koyo radiator. I then sent them a check for parts, and a couple of weeks later the SC came in. They did a pretty good job of keeping me in the loop, and I was anxiously waiting to schedule an installation. I showed up on their door on Monday at 9 am, they offered to give me a ride to my rental car, and I showed up on Tuesday at 4 pm to pick it up. Tom, the tech, seemed very attentive to detail and gave me a run down of the new parts. Now comes the good part; if you drive a GT86, you know it is in desperate need of more power, it's missing that oomph in the mid-rpm range that makes it seem like a scrawny teenager instead of a drifting Bruce Lee doing round-house kicks on every corner and then accelerating away giving you a smirk in the process. Why did I choose Jackson Racing? Frankly, I wanted a reliable company and a CARB legal kit so I wouldn't have to worry about inspection. Why EQTuning in Fairfield? These guys are pros, and after spending so much money on it, I have the peace of mind that they did an excellent job, and if I need to come back for a tune, they'll take care of me. EQT did an amazing job with our Stage 2 upgrade and Pro-tune on our 2018 STI Subie (Subaru)! No more turbo lag and man does she pull. We appreciate Patrick's help with all of our questions and made a few suggestions too. After the Stage 2 upgrade and tuning Subie registered 331.9HP and 351 Max Torque but the real test has been the performance on our canyon drives. Great handling and power. After the initial tune the check engine light came on...we booked a follow-up to get everything checked out and couldn't have asked for better customer service from Patrick and the EQT team. First time getting my car tune with Ed and I have to say I'm very impress with his work. I have a 2014 WRX Hatch with a E-Tune that I thought was good. The tune that Ed input into my car was beyond good, my mpg went up by 4 mpg and my powerband is definitely smooth/faster. Overall I'm loving this tune and would go back if I ever upgrade more mods. Beside the tune, him and his tune are very experience. They notice my hose were a bit lose, and wore out. Along with spotting a nail that was stuck to my tire, and was lucky that it didn't puncture deep enough. I love the fact that they thorough with inspecting the car before running the dyno. read more

I recently had my car tuned with Ed and couldn't be more happy right now. I have a 2015 STI and wanted to share my experience with EQ for those of you who are on the fence or not sure who to go to for their tune. Ed is a cool guy, very mellow and laid back. He really knows his stuff when it comes to tuning Subarus. He takes his time, and doesn't rush you. Anytime I have questions he always responds very quickly. This was important when choosing a tuner for me. Ed is very honest and i could tell he cared about my car and it showed in his work. He noticed some zip ties missing and some hoses not in the optimal position which he immediately fixed and let me know about it, from another installer who worked on my car previously. His attention to detail and perfection was very noticeable when working on my car. After he tuned my car, he road tested it and then made adjustments necessary to dial it in. I didnt have to drive it or datalog it as he performed all the necessary adjustments and had the car ready to go when I picked it up. He stays in touch with you even after hes tuned your car and is always accessible. Ed even helped me with a small issue at 10pm on a friday night before. Now thats service. To sum it up. Check Ed out. If you want detailed meticulous work ethic and quick follow up. Eds pricing is not cheap however i feel it was justified. He does great work. I got my evo tuned today, i am so happy with my results. The tune exceeded my expectations. I haven't pulled yet since too many cops today. So far car feels great even i was just using max 8 psi of boost to pass and i was already at 95 mph. This thing that i found was idle is alittle rough when a/c is on. i know i blew a hose plug, coolant is low in the rad reservoir is empty when i got home. I just kinda hope it got filled in and burped it a little better since i paid for that. i dont want to spend another 12k on my motor. Fairfield to hayward is a bit of a drive . Overall Ed is really nice and a phenomenal tune that he did to my car. Special Thanks to Patrick and Leo on working on my car. read more

Charged me 3x the amount quoted and took 3x as long as they said it would. They said it was because the guy working on the car had never done the install before. NOT something I want to hear about the person working on my car. I also don't give a rat's ass if it took longer than expected. If you give a quote then you need to stick by it or not do the job at all. I'll drive an hour out of town to get work done on my car, you lost my business. I purchased my first Subaru back in 2007 (WRX) and did not know what shops were good in the Bay Area. To be honest, it was quite overwhelming as there are many shops that specialize in Subaru's. Even though these shops knew I was a new Subaru owner and new customer, they treated me very poorly - disrespectful, treated all of of my questions as "idiotic" ones. Great price on installs, great tuner, and great customer service, and great mechanics. They actually went out to get us lunch when me and my buddies were stuck there in the middle of nowhere :). Ed won't be hesitant to give you advice on what parts to run on your car; but he won't corner you into tuning your car the way that you want. Jermaine J - I've been to EQ quite a few times now and I've got to say, they've really taken care of me. The first time was to just meet everyone and I got a very good vibe out of the place, especially the lead tech Brandon. I had been looking for exhaust parts for quite a while at the time and went by EQ to ask questions about my options, not only did they spend the time to explain about what I could do and make recommendations, but they actually had all of the parts that I needed right at the shop already which Ed was happy to sell to me at a discount. I was able to purchase the parts and have them installed in one appointment! It couldn't get better than that! Later on down the line I came back to EQ for a header swap and my first pro-tune and I immediately noticed a difference when finished. The car was smoother overall and a lot better to drive. I later came back to Ed for an E-85 tune which I've been running for the past 2-3 months with zero problems. I really have to say, EQ has been more than accommodating with my demanding schedule every single time I've come to them for work (I work in SF). Even opening the shop to drop my car off on the weekend when I was unable to make it during the week. I'm the type of guy that has A LOT of questions and likes to learn, and every single time I've come in (even just to chat) they were willing to take time to give me tips and tricks to keep my car running smooth. This shop is amazing!!! I have taken my 2004 Subaru WRX there for quite some time (around 2-3 years) and always came back with a smile. Recently I had a full motor swap done and I couldn't be happier (2.5 liter motor, CP Pistons, re-machined heads, catch can, intake, FMIC, etc). The car pulls like a freight train and is very daily drivable. If you have a Subaru (or any other high performance vehicle) don't hesitate to bring it to Ed's shop; he will treat you right. For my vehicle, I eventually plan to have Ed perform some more of his awesome work to get my car geared for the track!!! Seems like the shop is falling apart... I called in about my motor build 3 weeks back and was told they were working on it. Checked back in yesterday, and it hasn't been touched! I spoke with Brendan and he apologized profusely and then handed me off to Ed in which I was then fed a line of BS on why this job hasn't gotten done. From what I can tell all but one employee have quit and NOTHING is getting done because they are now under staffed. If you would like to see your car in the next year, I wouldn't go to Equilibrium.
