Visited Equilibrium Brewery on Sunday evening. This is a brewery for IPA lovers only. While they don't need to reinvent their approach for others, they should have more than two non-IPA options on a menu of twenty. Quality: Equilibrium Brewery is all about IPAs. Even though a fair amount of the listed options were kicked, the menu of twenty beers included eighteen IPAs. My girlfriend who is not big on IPAs was not excited, and even I who enjoys IPAs, found it a bit much. The bigger issue for me however, was that I couldn't get excited about the beers I tried. During our visit I had small pours of Straight Outta The Southern Hemisphere, Southern Lights, MC2, and Ambrosia Alchemy. I also had a few sips of the South Street Pils. The only one I would order again is Ambrosia Alchemy, but it had a sweetness that would make a full pour tough. The brewery had a full BBQ restaurant inside, but we did not order any food. Quantity: Appreciated that they encouraged small pours, and had size options listed clearly. Value: $2-$4 for Small Pours. $6-$7 for Draft Pours. Ambiance: Equilibrium Brewery is located in Middleton, New York. It sits in the middle of city, in a massive warehouse-like space. The taproom sits next to the industrial looking building and has an interesting pentagon shape. The inside area revolves around a circular bar with windows on almost all the way around and tables along those windows. A small merchandise area and kitchen window are on the far wall. Outside there is a covering over additional tables in a fenced in yard. The music they were playing was crazy, I think it may have been a staff member's experimental band, but it was not something I really needed to listen to. Crowd: A pretty large crowd on Sunday afternoon, though more people appeared to be there for food and not beer. Service: They handed us slips with the beer options, with about seven options unavailable, which was very frustrating when attempting to order. The bartenders were very friendly though, and kept our glasses filled. Parking: Even with a large paved lot, it was tough to find a space. read more

Great beer- a ton of variety and all yummy! They have a whole area to buy cans which was a nice easy process. Their table ordering was super great too! Food was OK, expensive for the quality. We ordered 3 meals and they came out on only 2 trays. We had to pass trays back and forth. The brisket says 1/4 lb but we definitely were served less. read more

Love the brisket and wings here! They are so tender and smoked to perfection! I usually get the Korean bbq wings, along with their fries and their amazing brisket! P.s But don't get delivery as the brisket will become hard and cold. The time it takes to get delivered will make the brisket exposed to air and change the texture and make the brisket dry. Trust me eating it there makes all the difference. Since of COVID you should just pick it up and eat it in the car rather than waiting till you go home. It makes that much of a difference! read more

We came here for dinner and drinks because of the reviews. I love their set up both inside and outside. They do allow dogs on the patio, so our furbaby was able to join us. There's also lawn games on the patio. We tried a DIPA and an IPA and both were pretty good. We also tried their brisket, wings, and fries. The wings and fries were delicious. The brisket was well seasoned but a little dry. Overall would definitely recommend! read more

We went on a crowded rainy weekend and it's first come first serve. They have a really great setup for getting beer and how you order food. It's very efficient and the wait is minimal. The selection of available beers is plentiful. All that we tried were very good. The food is also very good. The BBQ is so tender and tasty. Really good BBQ wings also. The only negative is the food is overpriced for the amount you receive. The pictures are very misleading. I will return but will not plan on having a full lunch or dinner there only an expensive snack and great beer. read more

Food was such a disappointment! We ordered the smoked Turkey sliders that were excellent! That was the only thing (and the French fries)! Brisket was dried out, smoked Turkey, dried out, cornbread, dried out! My friend enjoyed cold slaw, I found it just ok. Maybe the trick is to drink a lot! The wait staff is excellent though! . I have been visiting Equlibrium since their inception into the Middletown NY Craft Beer scene at their previous location. They always produce quality craft beer. They have since moved locations and it hasn't dampened them in any way. The new spot looks nice and is a good place to stop by for a brew and hang for a bit. The design allows a lot of natural light in and the bar acts a central point to the space. Choose from a good array of craft brews. Check their daily schedules as they have some events like trivia, karaoke etc. that could entertain you for a bit. read more

Beautiful place, It is hidden back behind the old city looking facade, but once you turn into the parking lot and see it you will be excited to try it. I am certain you can find the brew for you. But on the ribs, while cooked perfectly, the Pepper layer is so thick and intense it was overpowering the flavor of the ribs. So much so that of my half rack of ribs I left half of those, just WAY too much cracked pepper. And the beans are like they are out of a can, did not love these, these tasted like what I may start with when I make mine, I add frilled onions and sauce and brown sugar and mustard and let it smoke in the smoker and the combination makes it taste like a meal! They need something like this to make them stand out. I guess southern BBQ Spoiled me, and it is hard to measure up. But the Diet Cola they have here is outstanding, and the place is a gem to relax and hangout in, I would give them five stars for service and the way you order on your phone. Love the place, but just did not love the food. The Burger was sort of pedestrian as well, that would be a three-star food item as well. The fried are fantastic here! No drinking one of their delicious brews inside the establishment presently, but that should not stop ANYONE from coming here. This is the best beer I've tasted in a year (please also keep in mind I live in Utah). It's costly, but worth it. I ended up buying seven six packs to try and take back home with me to share. They do IPAs in a way I haven't tasted since my last venture up to New England. So tasty. Ultimate 5. Went there while running chores in upstate NY hoping to replenish beer supply. We were there 2 years ago and were so pleased to see how the place had grown that decided to stay for lunch. I ordered pork belly, which was done to perfection, coleslaw and corn bread which was amazing. Hubby ordered brisket - according to him is the best one he ever had (I tried a piece and it was wonderful. He ordered a side of french fries and the size was huge (we wouldn't complain if we had gotten a half of it). Truly enjoyed the food. Today my husband was there with our 18 yo who thoroughly enjoyed pulled pork sandwich - said will go back there any day despite 1 hr drive. Hubby got brisket again. Huge selection of beers on tap including non-alcoholic option which your designated driver will appreciate. You can also order different sized drinks to try starting from 4 oz. Service is good, you open tab at your table via QR code, orders were served quickly. Environment/bathrooms are very clean. The only improvement I'd like to see is the person at the beer store to be a little more attentive and engaged as there are many types of beer and it is not easy navigating through them. Being that this place was in Middletown I was a little leery. But it turned out I was so wrong. It was a great place and very busy. We were greeted at the door by a waiter asking us if it was our first time. He explained how they work and got us a table outside. You do the ordering through the QR reader and you also pay that way. The beer and food came out quick. The food, we ordered appetizers, was great. We had a pint of Mac & Cheese, pork poutine, which was the best I've had since my trip to Vancouver, and small wiblets, ribs that were falling off the bone. The staff stopped by several times making sure everything was ok. The place has lots of seating inside and out and it was a very nice, kid and dog friendly venue.. will definitely go again!!! read more

Our go to spot for dinner, especially Tuesdays for the 50 cent wings! We've never had a bad meal. The menu changes frequently, there's always something's new to try! The beer is also ever changing and soooooo yummy!! The only negative thing I'd say is I wish they'd put felt pads on the bottom of all the stools...when someone moves a chair it's like nails on a chalk board. Beer was so great!! So many options and varieties I loved them. The eighth state sours they have are amazing. My boyfriend loved the equilibrium ipas. We didn't get food but it also looked really good. There's a smoker running outside. It's in an old bank and they still have the vault. I loved the layout inside and outside, plenty of room to spread out outside and lots of tables, even one with a fire pit which is so nice on a chilly day. There's a tented area and two sets of cornhole. The place wasn't insanely packed but it was busy on Saturday afternoon, lots of staff working the food area. The reason for only 3 stars is because the bar staff could not have been slower, there was only two of them working the crowd but it really looked like they were not organized and they ignored you as you stood there for at least 10 minutes (maybe more) which is a long amount of time to be waiting to order a drink. Everyone was complaining and they were both equally slow so there was no avoiding of one of them. Thank goodness you buy cans in a separate area or I would have not gone back to order from them!! I visited Equilibrium yesterday. They have done such a nice job with this brewery. There is cute outdoor seating and indoor tables as well as bar seating. The tables have a QR code that gives you the menu, and you can directly order food and beer. I like this because it creates a very little wait time, for what you order or for paying the check since you also pay through the website. On the other hand, I felt like for a brewery our experience was very impersonal. Typically when visiting a brewery, a bartender or server will make recommendations of their favorite items or check on you for that matter. For us, someone only came over when we ordered something. The first beer that we ordered the Ambrosia Alchemy was not my cup of tea, luckily my sister liked it so I handed it off to her. I enjoyed the Fractal Strata/galaxy. For food we ordered the Thai chili wings and fries. The wings were flavorful and presented nicely, I think the fries were slightly over done. I really like the atmosphere, next time I will return to try the bbq. read more

I attended karaoke at Equilibrium many Thursday nights. Staff was friendly. The venue was clean. There was an outside area to sit in and enjoy your evening. Loved attending the karaoke group and listening to everyone sing. Everyone knew each other and supported one another. They welcomed new members. I had a chance to hang out with family and made new friends. It was a great time for all. So sad that Equilibrium decided to discontinue karaoke night. Loved the corn bread. The tap water they serve is free, but not for me. Tasted like chemicals. Requested bottled water to purchase, but They didn't carry it. The soda was too sweet for me but the seltzer was a great alternative. If you're a beer lover, there are plenty to choose from and it is brewed on the premises. Hoping they reconsider hosting the karaoke group so we can continue to meet, have dinner together and enjoy each other's company. read more

Equilibrium make amazing beers - from juicy ipas, to tart sours, to rich stouts. I couldn't be more proud that they chose my hometown for their brewing operations. They typically have can releases on Saturdays. Bottle releases are a little rarer, and you may have to get there early to avoid them selling out. I've been here a few times with my family, the food is great, service is great, beer is amazing! My biggest complaint when it comes to Equilibrium is it's more like a day care. It tends to be a place where parents bring their 5 year olds kids which completely ruins the experience here. They sit, don't order drinks, and allow for equilibrium loving customers standing, waiting for a table. If I was the owner here, I would have some kind of rule against this as people going to a brewery, are not looking for a screaming kid ambiance. Find a baby sitter if you want to go to a brewery! The brewery is 5 stars because the beers are great, but they also have a cool little taproom. They are building a new taproom but for now it's upstairs at the brewery. They have little snacks and all their beers. They also sell merchandise. It's not fancy and there are bags of malt stacked on the wall, but that's all part of the charm. read more

Stopped in today with the family and was impressed with everything. Our server Logan was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about both the food and beer on offer. Very attentive and personable. Beautiful building. Clean bathrooms. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Love that you can get a four ounce pour and try multiple types. We sampled half the beer and food menu between the group and enjoyed it all. I loved the smoothness of the DIPAs we sampled. My folks loved the slow pour Pilsners. The sour was perfect too. Came to check this place out because I had one of their beers in Manhattan a while back. The drive was close to an hour, so you know the stuff has got to be good to make me drive that kind of distance. They only open 4 days a week with limited hours for sales. The facility is a fully operational brewery. Don't expect chairs and counters for you to lunge around. No tap room here either, so it's to go only. Check their website ahead of time to make sure they have what you are looking for before you commit to the drive. My personal favorite would be the MC2. It is a spectacular example of NE style IPA. It's like a mini mango and pineapple bomb in terms of flavor profile. Very easy to drink. Great that they have crowlers instead of glass. Staff was very laid back yet helpful. If you're looking for samples before you purchase, head over to the bar next door. They are separate businesses, but they do carry quite a bit of Equilibrium on tap. read more

As far as breweries go in Middletown it comes down to Clemson's and Equilibrium. Though I'm sure there are small other ones around, but these are the two big ones. Check the hours they're not open always. Beers on tap are their own only, they do make some cocktails though. Beers are hoppy, a lot of them fruit infused with apricots, oranges, and spices. Great tasting though. I think they had one IPA. They fill growlers downstairs on the right and it's another place you can get a drink. Upstairs is the main food area. Atmosphere is nice, rustic, mostly wood and metal. Bar is a square with TVs in the middle. Waiters are nice, food is decent. Menu includes typical bar grub like wings, burgers, fries, nachos, and few specialty things which can make the non-drinkers excited to come too. Look out for weekly trivia nights which gets pretty fun. Worth a visit if you like beer or if you want good food at a decent price read more
