What coffee shop doesn't offer wifi??? What irked me the most was that I asked the cashier if the place had wifi and she responded with a quick yes. Come to find out...no wifi! Seriously? Thankfully, xfinity was there to the rescue. And then I proceeded to ask her about a specific tea they offered...sticky rice pu-erh. She was really enthusiastic (sarcasm) by saying, "Oh, I've never had it." Great sales right there. I went ahead and got it anyway. We also picked up an americano and a blueberry waffle. The tea was good...served in a nifty serving cup. The americano was also of great quality. I have to say I was quite impressed by the flavor of the beans. The waffle was tasty and the blueberries were plentiful. Minus 1 star for terrible service. Minus another star for being stuck in the dark ages without wifi. I doubt I'll make my way back in here or recommend to my fellow yelpers. 3 stars. read more

Very nice spot! Perfect location and seating options downtown Mill Valley. Staff was super friendly and attentive when we went yesterday. I like that they actually give the option of coffee bean without sounding pretentious (good for getting more people to discover subtle differences). Drink was great, but the line cannot be trusted: they have a lot of people working on drinks (and there should be no compromise on quality), so I think it's just that they take orders a little too fast (perception of "slow" is magnified after placing the order) which makes the line to order short but the blob of people waiting from all over larger. read more

Equator Coffees had tons of outdoor seating in light of COVID. They have a window open for customers to place orders. Then, servers bring food and drinks out for customers to pick up next door. I'm so glad that my friends and I were able to come here for a quick morning pick-me-up. I got an unsweetened matcha latte with almond milk. Loved that unlike most other hot drinks with almond milk, where the almond milk gets too scalded and ruins the drink, Equator Coffee's matcha latte tasted sweet and creamy. I paid around 5-6 dollars for my order, which I feel was pretty standard pricing considering this was in the Bay Area. Can't wait to come back again to try their other menu items! read more

Wow! This espresso sucks! Sorry to be so crude, but that's how I feel when I come into an establishment that feels more like a Starbucks now with espresso that is overly acidic, bitter, and "off". Staff are doing "their job", and lovely human beings, but there seems like little heart is involved. Can't believe the marketing around how EQ is one of the best coffees in Marin/SF. They aren't. Would never recommend. Unless you just need a quick and dirty shot for your migraine. Even then, save a couple of bucks and go to McDonalds and get their coke. Hear it works better... read more

This is my favorite local coffee place (the one on Shoreline in Mill Valley). I'm a latte drinker and this place has the best. They also have a great food selection. It's next door to Proof Lab, the surf shop, and has a great surfer ambiance. To me that means laid back and casual. The line can get long on weekends, but so can every decent coffee shop. The service is efficient, although not overly friendly. read more

Best matcha I have ever had. So silky and you can adjust the sweetness. I ordered mine less sweet and it was like clouds. $5 for a drink isn't cheap, but that's a pretty standard price for matcha at a cafe. I also got their chia and berry pudding, which was great as well. This is definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in Marin, I just wish it was a bigger space inside. read more

If you are an espresso lover, do NOT visit this place. The Kenyan shot of espresso was bitter and old - not even drinkable and threw it out. The caramel lattes were extremely hot, little flavor, and sour tasting. The pour over coffee was ok. Also, the food items are now only pastries which were very tasty as they are from Panera bread. The service was fine and not a long wait, but definitely would not visit for espresso drinks. read more

I am addicted to coffee! Equator coffee is bar far one of my favorites ever! The coffee is smooth and flavorful and speaks for itself. The drip coffee is smooth and flavorful. The espresso is extremely amazing and full of a variety of notes. The most recent espresso I tried was rich with notes of cherry and chocolate. There's no need to add anything else except perhaps a little milk. I highly recommend ordering a latte with the espresso that you prefer. They rotate the beans available so feel free to ask the barista for what available. The staff is extremely friendly and clearly love their jobs! The bathroom is beyond clean (cleaner than most friends houses I've visited) They also serve salads, food, and assorted alcoholic drinks so if you're not feeling like coffee there are other things to choose from but if you don't choose the coffee, well come on! read more

Been here a few times and it is always painfully slow but this morning was the worst. I ordered through their app right on 7:00, got there at 7:05 then had to wait till 7:22 for my coffee. The guy in the store was running around and it seemed like he was busy but 22 minutes to get a coffee is just rude. Some other customers came and ordered coffee at the window and were served well before me. The coffee is only ever been just okay anyway and lately it seems to be going down hill. I would have walked away but i had already paid through the app. I wanted support someone other the big chain coffee stores but this place is ridiculous. Understaffed (cheap) ordinary coffee, (yawn) and an app that seems to make your order take longer rather than saving you some time. read more

Clean, quick, friendly, comfortable, fun people watching, bubbly chatter everywhere, indoor & outdoor seating, great coffee and several food choices; Equator Coffee in Mill Valley has definitely found its niche. The coffee is prepared by professionals who care about providing that perfect "cup o joe", the teas and sparkling beverages are prepared with care, great flavor, and interesting attention to detail. And, all of this while the store has a non stop line of people passing through...very impressive. Their coffee (beans, drip, cold brew) are all delicious, their sparkling sodas (ginger mint lime) is amazing, and the espresso drinks are superb. One of the owners, Helen, was there on my last visit and she was happily buzzing about her store, chatting with customers, hanging up new art, and refilling and restocking the coffee condiments table. Being at Equator, you get a sense of community supporting community and its nice. read more

My initial thought was how did I end up spending $8 for an espresso and doughnut?? The doughnut must have been $5 because the espresso was $3. I enjoyed my espresso and doughnut, and even more so I really liked the aesthetics of Equator. The railroad rail tables are beautiful hommage to the yesteryears of Mill Valley, and they have fantastic modern stools. But the doughnut was definitely over-priced! read more

This coffee shop has quickly become the social nucleus of Mill Valley's town square. First of all, you can't beat the location (it's right across the street from the Depot, Vasco, and a few doors down from Piazza D'Angelo). There's plenty of outdoor seating for sipping and people-watching. They have a delicious array of snacks (everything from waffles to sandwiches). They're dog-friendly. Oh yeah, and the coffee's pretty damn good, too! It's no wonder this place keeps winning accolades. They were recently named best small business of the year in California, and best coffee in Marin (by the Pacific Sun). I'm certainly no coffee expert, but it's clear that these guys know what they're doing. They make a fine cappuccino (complete with elegant designs in their creamy, milky foam). The last time I came in, I actually ordered a peppermint tea. It was served in this funky contraption so that the tea leaves properly seeped in the water and provided the most flavor. It was divine (or should I say tea-wine). I have inside info that they will be launching a nightly happy hour soon with wine, beer, and other goodies. Looking forward to checking it out! read more

Phenomenal coffee, atmosphere and staff. We came up to Mill Valley for a vacation and went here every morning. It was a pleasure to interact with the staff, the coffee was rich and delish, and the shop is set on an idyllic corner in the middle of downtown Mill Valley. Everything we ate and drank was tasty and out kiddos loved the donuts that arrive around 7:30am every morning. read more

Good coffee products with yummy snacks and a pleasant seating area right off the downtown Mill Valley square. I've been coming to this coffee shop for several years mostly ordering an assortment of caffeinated beverages. While I can't speak for the baked, I've heard they're very good and they look divine. I love the added attention to detail. For example, they give you a small glass of sparkling water with your espresso. I also like that many of the salad and yogurt dishes come in glass jars. I like the thoughtful presentation of the baked dishes. The service is quality. I've never received anything but friendly service. Of course, it's not the fastest service I've ever seen but it's not notably slow either. I love the location too - right off of the Mill Valley Square next to several boutiques and bookshops. I recommend stopping by Equator. read more

got the habibi coffee- I love cardamon, so had to try. It was subtle and slightly sweet, but still with a strong coffee taste. They had samples of a pastry out and it was amazing! I ordered the cinnamon version - not sure what it is called it was kinda of twisted and round and out of this world! The guy accidentally gave me the cardamon flavor one, but I still really liked it. I will definitely come back next time im in town! read more

Equator Coffee is easily my new favorite coffee shop in Marin. The cafe is stunning and everything that they serve looks and tastes amazing (okay the truth is I can only vouch for their coffee, but just look at those M.H. pastries and jarred salads!) Yep, it's true.. Equator serves M.H Bread and Butter pastries, as well as Urban Remedy juices, homemade waffles, salads, yogurt parfaits, and the list goes on. The folks behind the counter have serious skills! I ordered an americano with steamed almond milk and it was one of the best americano's that I've ever had. Besides the delicious taste, the coffee is also organic, fair trade, and roasted locally in San Rafael. Can it get any better than that? Nope, don't think so. You bet I'll be back soon! read more

They have a wide selection of hot coffee but not a lot of iced coffee options. They REALLY demand that you get the mobile app, before anything and bring it up while they're taking your order. The worker that took our order said things like, "everyone one around here knows how things work." which was pretty rude since we've never been in that area before. To top it off the coffee was bland. read more

I was able to make it out for their ribbon cutting/grand opening party and get a sampling of what Equator was capable of. They were serving some insanely smooth mini cappuccinos, proving they know how to work an espresso machine over there. There were a few cherry and pistachio parfaits, salads and other items they have in the grab and go cooler in cute mason jars. All were quite tasty and natural. Much different in the substance department than some other chain snack cases. Before leaving I got a recommendation on a bag of coffee and commenced to making one of my last cold brews of the year, an Ethiopia. It was exactly what I wanted, maybe the best in a few bags from other places. Impressive. Luckily my sister and her hubs live up here and they really enjoyed it as well. Definitely will check it out on a regular day. read more

In full disclosure - freakily I've had waffles twice today. I've probably not had a waffle I'm 5 years so ... My hairdressers assistant mentioned he was going to equator for lunch - said The waffles were a must try. It was my first time in any equator. Menu was interesting. I ordered a regular drip and Ham n cheese waffle to go. After waiting for my waffle to me called I realized the gal at the register never bothered w the cup of coffee I ordered. Hello ? This is a coffee shop and they drop my v basic coffee order ? Okay. I'll roll w it. I received my waffle and hands down its gorgeous. Sadly though it was still uncooked on the inside and forget calling it ham n cheese. They should have just said mustard waffle bc all you could taste was overworking mustard. read more

I would go all the way to the equator for a latte from this place. I ordered the housemade vanilla latte and I drank it so fast that I forgot to take a picture of the latte art. But it doesn't stop there! They have a liquor license so they even have beer on tap! But 9am was way too early to start drinking for me, so the latte was perfect. I know there are two locations in Mill Valley, but I wish there was one closer to Berkeley so I can keep ordering the lattes! read more

I love downtown Mill Valley and coffee. The space inside Equator coffee is nice and sterile, but lacks character. It feels like a dentists office. The basic coffee was alright, but expensive for what you got. Small portions. I couldn't bring myself to spend $6 for one of their signature drinks. You could easily spend $12-$15 on a drink and pastry. To be fair, it is Mill Valley. Best take away is their logo with the jaguar. read more

One: the man liked the strong coffee here... Meanwhile: the three of us couldn't get enough of the light and fresh-tasting homemade pot chips, with its delightful crunch... Only: we all agreed that the savory scones were a tad salty that day... 'twas really: a lively corner made brighter with cool service in the equally bright Mill Valley... Great coffee. Be careful when buying a gift card because the one for online is different than one for stores. (And the Sausalito store, isn't really an Equator--some corporate structure thing.) After four strikes to use it, Equator did help me out. Thank you, Equator. Love your coffee! read more

Everyone I ran into or know from the area talked up Equator. I must say, I really enjoyed my multiple stops (I worked out of Mill Valley for a week). Good, strong coffee, a BOMB egg breakfast sandwich (so. good.), sunny seats, and a good happy hour. Nice, interesting baristas. Basically, everything I need in a day rolled into one spot. My two comments for improvement: free wifi and plugs. Seems silly to have a beautiful coffee house in the middle of town without these two things! read more

There was a good amount of seating outside as well which was set up really nice / looked cute. Also, after visiting I learned Equator is a BCorp and actually the first B Corp roaster in CA. Love supporting a business whose food not only tastes good but who also does good for the community!

Cashier worker Andrea was so nasty and confrontational and even had the lack of decency to be rude and nasty to my innocent by stander of a child!! I was nearly in tears over this workers verbal assault. I immediately rang the owner Heather. She didn't seem terribly bothered and thought our verbal assault from her employee would be rectified by offering us free drinks. No go! This didn't change the worker Andrea's attitude and death stares, not to mention we could hear her talking crap about us to other employees. The mouth and behavior of this employee is abominable and shouldn't be a behavior that we as supportive patrons should ever experience. Fortunately we have several gluten and dairy free options in Marin, so save yourself a verbal assault and go elsewhere.

There are about half a dozen shops--unfortunately, the dog boutique I was excited to visit had recently moved to Murphy's, so we just missed them. Glad to see they relocated rather than closed! The other shops are the usual mix of cute but slightly overpriced boutiques. There's a crepe stand at one end, a coffee shop with sandwiches, salads, and bakery items, and a sit-down restaurant in the middle. Dogs are welcome to walk around, which is great, but I did notice a sign in a dirt area that said, "Do not pee here," with a picture of a dog. While I understand the sentiment, I'd honestly prefer my dog choose a dirt patch over the main pathway.

The space is small -- about five tables inside, four outside -- but it works. There are always a few parking spots nearby. It feels local in a real way, not a curated way. I see familiar baristas when I go in, but I also notice new team members. It feels like a business that's growing, adjusting, trying to get better. They have a rewards program. They're clearly refining their systems. And most importantly, the service never feels complacent. No one acts like they're doing you a favor by taking your order. You're acknowledged. You're treated like your business matters. That difference is subtle -- but it's everything. I genuinely do not understand how this place isn't consistently packed while others with higher prices and less warmth are. If you care about quality, value, and being treated like an actual guest, this is the spot in Corte Madera. Skip the hype. Walk a few extra steps. Order the matcha.
