Do NOT sell here! Worst place I've ever sold records to. Dude took everything I brought, whole case, and what he offered me was insulting. Unfortunately I needed the paltry sum that day. It made me nauseous though. Other stores in town are far more reasonable. I took a crate to HoR, they only accepted half of what I brought and gave me more than twice as much! Short: Great selection of movies (dvd) and Cds. For those who love physical media. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, good experience. Visited 4th of July weekend '22. I walked in with a friend, since she was looking for some CD albums. When you walk in, there are music and movie posters on the wall for sale. The whole place gives off a certain cool vibe, which I liked. They have very organized shelves, of DVDs and CDs. In the back were also vinyls. For the most part, it was spacious enough to stroll slowly and search for discoveries. Overall, it is a nice store to browse around and find something you might have needed or wanted, especially if it isn't directly in print nowadays. read more

I've been coming here since I was in elementary school, back when it was CD Game Exchange. I stopped going for a while due to college and work occupying most of my time, but I've recently started going pretty much every weekend for movies, records, and occasionally games. I really love this place. It's a staple of downtown Eugene in my opinion, and I'd be hard pressed to find a more relaxing shopping experience, secondhand store or otherwise. The service is also very nice. I especially like the employees choice section of records. Overall, I think Epic Seconds is the place to be for used media. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys that kind of thing. read more

Being a bit of an old school gaming junkie and a second hand store lover - I was totes excited to check out Epic Seconds! ++ TONS of used Blu Ray and DVDs! ++ A small selection of banners and posters available. ++ Quite a few new gen (Xbox and Playstation) games! ++ Staff was friendly and greeted me upon arrival. +/- The classic/old-school gaming section was rather small during my visit. Perhaps it was just picked over, but I found that to be quite disappointing. All in all, Epic Seconds was def "A-OK" in my book. **Pro Tip: Looks like they are expanding! This is THE best place for games, music, and more! I married an absolute nerd, so this place is my dream for anything game related. The prices are cheap, you can buy used games in great condition at good prices. Both my husband and I find great stuff here. I've got an old school Game Boy color and I can find games for it here. We buy bunches of Xbox games as well for my husband. Employees are always super helpful and nice, answering questions and getting games when needed. They keep games in locked cases, as I would presume theft is quite an issue. So you have to ask anytime you want to see a game. But there's always at least two employees in a small store, so there's never a wait to do so. They have a 7 day return policy, which they always go over with you when you buy something, and stamp the price tag with the date. I've never had to use this, so I have no experience other than them making sure you're clear on how it works and how long you have to return something. The selection of video games, DVDs, consoles, vinyl records, and CDs is quite impressive. It's an adventure winding through the isles browsing the wide variety of selections. I always enjoy that, and finding some old school album or game I love for a cheap price. It's a small store. However with the selection, it doesn't feel cramped. Until you get more than a few customers inside. That's when it gets cramped. Parking is on the street, which you have to pay for until 6pm. It's not a huge deal. My husband and I wander over to the St. Vinnie's a block down the road while we're there. It's a store we've been going to for several years and will definitely keep returning to. read more

So I have visited this shop several times and it's always been a great experience. They have a huge selection of video games, movies and music. The staff is very helpful, friendly and easy going. I decided this weekend that I would bight the bullet and get rid of my DVD collection, which was a very hard decision. I brought one box down to the Exchange to find out if they did buy old DVD's and I wanted Cash not store credit. Sure enough they gave me a great value for them and in Cash which to find out they just started offering cash for items. Needless to say I then brought the remaining boxes in on Sunday and got good money for my old collection of DVDs. Great shop and highly recommend selling or buying things from this store. read more

I stopped in here with a friend for the first time ever today, and boy was I impressed! Not only do they sell used CDs, video games, video game consoles, video game controllers, posters, DVDs, and vinyl records, but the amount of inventory they have is incredibly impressive. Wall to wall coverage includes so many used DVDs that I could have stood there and browsed for over an hour! I am impressed with the amount of variety the store has in terms of its products, and I also think their pricing is extremely reasonable. They have a wall full of $2.50 used DVDs, and you can get 5 for $10! The employees here were also friendly, and quite a few of them asked if I needed any assistance (although not in an annoying way like they were assuming I was a shoplifter). One of the employees told me that they have a rental system where you can buy an item - DVD, CD, video game, etc, use it for a few days, and then sell it back and get a partial refund. That's not a bad way to watch movies that aren't available on Netflix or Amazon Prime! I didn't have a lot of time to browse when I was here because I had somewhere to be, but I definitely want to come back and see if I can fill in the holes of my DVD collection. I bought 5 DVDs here for $10 today (3/23), and the employee at the front counter said that if any of the discs are scratched and don't play properly, I have a week to bring them in and exchange/return, which is a reasonable and fair policy! One tip I do have for future fellow shoppers: if you're looking for a good deal, know your DVD prices. The last time I was in here I was looking at their selection of Studio Ghibli and Disney used DVDs, and was not impressed with the pricing. I realize the business most likely prices for demand, but some of the used copies of these brands of movies are priced at a price that is almost equal to what you can pay to get a new copy at Target or Costco. For instance, I saw a Ghibli film that was around $15-16, I believe, and when I went to Costco last week they had Ghibli blu-ray/DVD combo sets on sale for $13. With this one small exception, I think their prices are pretty darn good though! read more

Really cool place. Posters and art all about, music and vinyl decking the halls, and a pretty awesome selection of video games too. This place is, as its name suggests, primarily resale, and they treat customers well. For sellers, this is about the only place in town that you can get a good price for your old stuff. And their mark-up isn't too bad, so you end up getting some fantastic deals here. The staff's pretty cool themselves. Imagine the place like Empire Records, without the bad acting. Yes. What a great spot. Not only is there a huge selection CDs and games, as the name implies, they also keep a pretty epic stock of DVDs, consoles and things like posters. I haven't been in a long time, but I have definitely sold actual records to the place, too. So they stocked those at one point. As with most places like this, the sale prices are pretty reasonable and the resale prices for your traded goods are fairly sad. They can feel downright criminal at times, but that's just how this sort of thing works anywhere. All in all, a pretty awesome shop that has been responsible both for a good portion of my music collection (in purchases) and a good portion of my rent payment (in resale). read more

A great place to shop for used games on any platform (PS3/2, Xbox, Wii, even PC) , and a HUGE selection of used DVDs. They've been great on returns if something doesn't work, as well. As for music, they have a decent amount of new and used, but never seem to have any of the bands I'm looking for. I have mixed feelings about the cd/game exchange. A few years ago I would have given them 5 stars no problem, but the quality of product has gone down while the prices have gone up. Used to be you could get a decent deal on video games if the store had a few in stock. Newer games would be $50 maybe for the first one, $45 for the next, $40 for the next, and maybe bottom out at $35 or $30. Now these same newer games rarely go below $45, even if there are a half dozen of them. Meanwhile, your trade-in value is less every you go in there. Decent selection, but I find I never have enough credit to get anything because the prices are so high. Also, too many dvd's and CDs are beat up. They offer a return policy, but I lived in Newport for years and had no way to test things until I got home and the policy was only good for a week. Had to eat some cash from that. Trading in CDs is lousy - you get next to nothing for yours, but even old CDs will end up being sold for $8-$12 and you only got $1-$2 in credit. Overall I have moved most of business elsewhere. I stop in and check on things from time to time, but I rarely get anything because it is too expensive. read more

If you're looking to sell stuff - well, don't expect much, but they do buy a lot of things. They bought stuff I didn't expect them to. But don't expect more than 50 cents or so for DVDs or a couple bucks tops for games. Now, if you're looking to buy - the selection here is great. The prices are fair. If they don't have something you really want, if you're polite and ask they just might call you when they find one. I have found a lot of great games here, all in excellent shape, with the original packaging and booklets. They play great music, have a killer selection of posters, and have so many TV show seasons and older movies and CDs as well. The staff overall is friendly, more of them are really friendly and great at what they do than not. A few have rubbed me the wrong way, like a guy who faked his need to be right next to me as I was shopping, fake organizing the already organized racks, presumably because he thought I was trying to steal something. They have a policy of leaving bags at the register, which frustrates me as an honest gal, but it's understandable. I really like most of the people there, who kinda just let me shop or politely let me fangirl about games from 15 years ago. That's customer service, man. read more

If you're trying to flesh out your vinyl collection or introduce yourself to some new things you haven't heard before, this is the place to start. After leaving Skip's on 11th almost $80 poorer and with only four embarrassingly hipster-esque brand new albums to show for it, I decided to try the CD/game exchange and headed to the back where they keep their one wall of vinyls. When one of their staff members, David, asked me if I needed help, I initially said no. You know, because I was a little embarrassed to be working off a ridiculously long list scribbled on multiple sides of a paper napkin. Despite this, David spent the next eternity reading off names and flipping through shelves for me, and had a fantastic story about the artist for every album that he handed me. This guy clearly loves jazz so much that you start to love it more just standing next to him. For less than the $80 I spent at Skip's, I left the CD/Game Exchange with sixteen albums including Donny Hathaway, Sidney Bechet, Fatts Waller, Art Tatum, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Dizzy Gillespie, Aerosmith, Maurice Chevalier, Bessie Smith, and Duke Ellington... and I'm a whole lot happier about it. Great place to shop for music and movies. Best prices around with their great selection of blu rays starting at $2.50, CDs can be found for even cheaper. Plus they offer a one week return window on their products, considering everything is used that's pretty cool. The game selection isn't the largest in town, but they are relatively competitive with similar shops. I can think of one in particular that has then beat locally on game prices and trade in. Which brings me to the main reason I can't give 5 stars. They tend to offer very little for trade in, i'd say this is the norm, but other shops in town pay top dollar for popular games, whether they're old or not. Overall a great shop with a HUGE selection of CDs and Movies and some games and gaming supplies. Not to mention the great downtown location. read more

The owner/manager guy is pretty cool and will give a fair price for things. The other employees are too busy being hipsters to care about anything else. The music is too loud, discs are often scratched and over priced, and there are almost always smelly bums in or around the establishment. What a load of trash. This place has gone downhill tremendously. Call for something and they say they have it. What they don't tell you is that it won't work. Thanks a lot cd game exchange for wasting everyone's time. I really loved it when I called the place to say they sold me broken goods, the half ass employee has the audacity to tell me that they don't have the time to make sure everything works before selling it. Is that so? So when I came in, picking your panties out of your ass is a better way to spend your shift than actually testing the stuff your selling. Get your act together and maybe hire some employees that understand you won't have happy customers if you sell them broken stuff. read more

CD Game Exchange in Eugene is exactly what you'd expect. It offers a great selection of new and used albums, Blu Ray, DVDs, posters, and of course video games. I found the staff to be overall polite and helpful. Finding a rare album from a favorite band for around five dollars makes the occasional visit well worth it. My only criticism would be to shop around if you're considering selling any of your old media to the joint, as you'll likely be disappointed with the price quotes (think pawnshop). All in all, I would highly recommend this store for audiophiles and for those gamers on a budget. read more

Depending on their stock of a particular item you can find some excellent deals on media. They have a 7 day return policy that I've never had to use but provides a buyer the chance to return a disc in the event that it doesn't work after you get it home. Staff is very helpful, the atmosphere is friendly. Since they are located on a busy street parking downtown can be an issue, other than that they are a great place to shop. read more

I would give them a zero if i could. They are incredibly disorganized and i mean you have to walk over DVDs and stuff on the floor. They take forever to help you and when they do they know less than you do about stuff. They give less than 30% trade in for what they will sell it for and don't bother asking cash they'll just rip you off. I do realise a business needs to make money but your better off selling your stuff to a bum seeing as you would get more. I have put this store on my gaming blacklist and i intend to never go there again i suggest video game headquarters in Springfield as they are organised and very friendly oh and they know what there selling imagine that! In conclusion i rather throw my used games in a dumpster than deal with this business again. read more

Kind of overpriced when comparing to other used game places. Went in to look for a used Nintendo handheld and was shocked to see that they were quite a bit more expensive than GameStop in the mall. The music is too loud and it smells pretty bad in there. Might give them one more shot before I give up all together. read more
