On a windy Monday evening we stopped in to epic burger for dinner. I had a bun less turkey burger, and my boyfriend had a epic double burger,and a peanut butter shake. Right off the bat we were greeted by Sheree. She was extremely attentive and helpful in helping us decide on our order. Once we received our food and took our first bite we can tell how fresh and well cooked both burgers were. Angel was the cook this night and we definitely want to come back the next night he cooks. Terrible simply an epic let down. From the time we entered the service was terrible it took 15 minutes to ring in my order. The clerk couldn't figure out how to ring it in. Great burger joint in Evanston! The restaurant is spacious and clean, has a big seating area, and our food was delivered very quickly. I ordered the epic burger classic along with sweet potato fries. The fries were crispy and not too oily, and the burger was delicious - the beef patty was tender and juicy, the lettuce and tomato were fresh and added a nice crunch, and the bun was soft and big enough so that I could eat the burger with ease without worrying about its contents spilling out. This location is also very student-friendly, and is always willing to partner with student groups for fundraising events. Great food! My only complaint is that without fail this location will ALWYS send my order incomplete. I have never received a complete order from them. I'm either missing an order of fries or they forget to give me extra epic sauce. Not sure they read the entire order. With that said my order is always good when I go in person. The managers and staff were so accommodating to me , when I had to order food for 40 people at the last minute same day. not only did they turn around a large order in 2 hours, but the manager personally called me to ensure I had everything I needed. My guests were so pleased by the food and I was pleased with their excellent customer service. Came here for their dillo day discount - it's interesting how they have mushroom as an option for the "protein" in the burger, but I still was reluctant to try haha. I really want to try the meat products because they look and smell delicious, but I refrain. The staff are the stand outs - you even come to recognize the grill staff who are in full view. Epic has consistently been my favorite chain burger joint in the Chicago area and this Evanston location does not disappoint. Just a good, relatively cheap (considering the location and food quality) burger. Quality ingredients, not too done up. Their fries are very good, with that Sir Kensington's ketchup that is so much better and more tomatoey than your typical Heinz. Their shakes are spot on, too. Good, tasty burgers, fresh ingredients, and conveniently located. But, I think the staff needs to listen a little better during orders. I've gone a few times since this location opened and nearly every time, something is missing from my order which I asked for - one time, I said all toppings except onions. I get no toppings except cheese. Another time the Epic sauce was missing. Today they left off the bacon. Thankfully, I dined in and was able to get that rectified. The burger here is just slightly better than a Whopper in BK but cost you much more, 11bucks. The taste is OK, but frankly speaking, I'd rather buy 2 whoppers. You can customize you burger but sadly there isn't many options and they are so common. The reason to do that is to make it not that cheap, I guess. I had to pay more for customizing a burger just with steak, tomato,cheese, bacon and avocado. Are y'all kidding? Most of them are so basic for a burger. It's the same thing to order a cheeseburger with avocado. I'm not saying that it doesn't taste good but definitely not worth the price. My daughter and I stopped in this afternoon as we were taking a stroll through Evanston and were very pleased with our decision to try a new place. We both had the double burgers, fries, and fountain drinks and were really glad we chose the doubles since the burgers are very thin. Don't confuse that as meaning anything was wrong with the burgers because they were amazingly delish! We just were really glad to have the doubles so we had enough burger to enjoy with all the other great toppings we chose. I had the blue cheese and my daughter had the horse radish. We left feeling satisfied and stayed that way until bed time. The food was very fresh and extremely well-prepared. Our cashier was uber cool with great eyes and long dreads. I ordered a second classic burger on a wheat bun with cheese and everything on it except grilled onions. I asked the guy for honey mustard, he said they were out so I asked for BBQ and Epic sauce. I get home, open the bag to find a plain burger on a wheat bun with an egg and grilled onions on it and a plain burger on a white bun with grilled onions. These burgers literally had only the topping I had specifically asked not to be put on them, and nothing that I had asked to be put on them (except the eggs). And the buns were switched. Also, instead of BBQ and Epic sauce, there were ketchup packets?!?! I'm actually impressed. It must take a lot of effort to mess up literally every single detail of an order. When I went back to get my order fixed, it took 2 different guys and 20 minutes to get through and understand the details of my order. Two burgers. For people who take and make orders for burgers for hours and hours a day, I don't understand how a two-burger order managed to confuse all 3 of the people that worked there. This is a great place to grab a quick meal, wether you're looking for something a little on the healthy side or just ready to indulge. The place is clean and bright and while there are plenty of tables does not feel cramped. They not only have their menu up on the wall but also in paper form which for someone like me who has a vision impairment is very helpful as it makes ordering much easier. Additionally the lady at the register is super friendly and does not rush you at all. Now on to the food. They have several different types of burgers. All beef, Turkey, and chicken, their shakes come in a skinny form as well as regular and they also have whole wheat buns as an option so you can be as healthy or unhealthy as you like. By the way their skinny peanut butter shake is awesome, you can actually taste the peanut butter. They not only have traditional toppings for their burgers but some creative ones too. I've never heard of horseradish cheese before but let me tell you it's good! You can also get your burger topped with avocado, bacon or eggs along with the more traditional onions lettuce and tomato. The fries are thick and soft too which I prefer. Also on the tables along with ketchup they have spicy dijon mustard which was delicious on my fries and I have to say I like that they have that verses regular mustard it's just another little thing that sets them apart. I believe they also have a simple salad, and along with shakes a verity of drinks so really pretty much everyone is covered. This place is fantastic! Those who say it's over-priced should stick to the crappier national chains, because they have no taste and might as well save their money. The quality and freshness of the ingredients is superb. The highly-focused menu offers options almost anyone could enjoy, regardless of dietary restrictions. I tried a cheddar cheeseburger yesterday, and a chicken sandwich with blue cheese today. Both are among the best in town. I think their chicken sandwich has the edge, since they can be dry and boring, but theirs is moist, savory and delicious. Blue cheese is complex and not melty, which is good for the texture. The wheat bun and white, brioche-like bun both hold up well. I found the sandwiches to always overflow the bun, contrary to another review. Well-sliced toppings seem fresh, premium produce. Nice green leaf lettuce. The fries are fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Their combo deals make this place solidly a better deal than 5 Guys. And the burger is much better. 5 Guys only has a slight edge on the fries. Maybe fresher taters? IDK. The place is very clean, and has a nice vibe. They have nice tables and lighting. Service is very friendly and effective. Love it! UPDATE: Had another chicken sandwich with cheddar, BBQ sauce and grilled AND raw onion. Yum! My only complaints are their lack of hot sauce (their fries would be REALLY good with sriracha), and the music.
