I'm thinking I've fallen in love with Culver's fish. Stopped in for a quick bite my go-to order is a double Culver's Deluxe burger. But lately I've been getting the Atlantic cod dinner or the Walleye dinner. The nice lady behind the counter took my order for the 2 piece cod dinner and handed me a number. The place was packed and I found a table and waited. The dining area is large but felt small with so many people. I received my order and dug in. The fish was fresh and hot, tasted like it just was made. The fish was flaky and crispy. I love the tartar sauce that they give you. With a squeeze of lemon and malt vinegar the fish is so good that I wish I would have gotten the 3 piece dinner. The cole slaw was creamy with a good crunch. The French fries were really good. The roll wasn't as fluffy this time around and didn't get any butter. But, I'm lazy and didn't want to get up, so I dipped my roll in the tartar sauce, not bad. I left full and happy. I've been going to Culver's for years if not decades however this particular review is for the Culver's in Skokie. I came here several times and I don't know why I didn't do a review until now however, this most recent visit on a Friday during lent was absolutely fantastic. The lady working at the register behind the counter was so super friendly and helpful. She made me aware of so many different combinations and options of what you can do with a simple two-piece fish platter that comes with two side sides. For example, I didn't know you could even change out the sides, let alone app for the premium size or even forfeit some of the sides. I usually eat at Culver's on Fridays during lent and this is the first time anyone's ever told me all the possible options, which was mind-boggling While it might be a little overwhelming, I will say it was great to even realize that there were any options to begin with She had the most bubbly, friendly personality, absolute patience to even explain all of these things to us and then to take our order and get it right who knew? Anyhow, she is great whoever trained her was fantastic and whoever hired her definitely saw her ability to do well at this job. She clearly likes people she likes communicating and being helpful. I like Culver's overall not just for fish but also for the cheese curds and the sandwich sandwiches. This is a solid go to for fast food when I have to choose fast food. read more

Only moderately okay. I was in the mood for a burger after my first idea for the night panned. After two really poor experiences at Culver's in Texas, I thought just maybe they would fry the burgers to a crisp so close to the mothership. I was right, but the bread was nearly burnt. I was not offered any dipping sauce by the nice young man who took my order, so I got dry (no sauce, that is) cheese curds. When I asked about a dipping sauce, the young lady delivering my order was like, "Um, so do you t want some sauce?" No, dear, I asked to hear myself talk. She came and told me they charge for the ranch, so I gave her some money and finally on the third trip...you get the idea. So let's talk about the burgers. Again, not fried like over-crisp roadkill, but there's a reason Joshua Weissman ranked them near the bottom of all fast food burgers - no seasoning at all. NONE. So again, let's talk about the dining room. Poorly laid out, this night it was full of loud children, what appeared to be a very old birthday party, and a corner booth full of high school athlete bros. Parents let their kids amble into the walkways a bit, but the real problem here was the bros walking over the table, being way too loud, and trying to gather money to pay the guy buying their beer. I know because it was that loud. Instead of toning them down a worker walked over and asked if one of them wanted a free milkshake. That was chaos. Here visiting our old neighborhood. We used to love getting the frozen custard flavor of the day at Culver's, so we had to make a stop. Went to the drive-thru, which was confusing because there are two speakers to order from. We ordered from the first where no total cost was given but whatever... then as we moved our car forward and approached the second speaker, that person also asked for our order... but we told them we had already ordered so they told us to keep going. Not a big deal, but weird. Then at the window, we received our scoop in a cup. What happened? The portion was so small compared to what we've received in the past, and it was already HALF MELTED. So disappointed. To top the experience off, the cars ahead of us were in disarray and it wasn't clear how we could get out. We eventually maneuvered and squeezed our way through. First time and last time for this location! Went through the drive thru and ordered a burger, chicken sandwich and a coke. The chicken sandwich was hot in the outside and cooked and ice cold like raw in the inside. As I was already out of the area I called the store and the assistant manager was asking me the issues, which I told him. He then started a debate with me and was ignorant. I told him to pass me to the manager who quickly apologized for his assistant managers behavior. The manager then asked me for my email, which I gave. The proceeded to ask me for my address which I gave but he was unable to understand it, even though I spelled it all out for him. He frustrated me to the fullest, until I decided to just hang up. This was the first time I went to Culver's. I walked in and the atmosphere was really nice. Not too many people were sitting inside, went around 6pm. The menu was really easy to navigate and I was able to make my selection quickly. Approaching the cashier, I was assisted by someone who was going under training. The experienced staff member was being extremely nice towards the coworker navigating the operating system. Overall the customer service was on point. They were efficient and one of them even complimented my earrings. Great to see smiles and compliments from the staff. As for the food I really enjoyed the Deluxe burger. It was extremely well balanced with the veggies, meat, and sauce. Definitely better than your average burger and it was dThe lemon cooler was also really yummy. Reflections on my latest visit (a recent afternoon at Culver's) Friendly, attentive and engaged service, Uniform was clean and professional, food delivered to your table, very clean, burgers kinda remind me of In N Out, heavy burgers, ice cream too??, flavor of the day...clean and organized...is there a secret menu?? Bright...interior was bright, flat screens (seeing the interior of the restaurant in my mind's eye), groups of people meeting and catching up, teenagers eating peacefully, busy drive thru can be distracting if you sit by a window, finally - almost got ran over walking to my car by an old lady in a beater (junky car). Whew, that was close... And those are my thoughts at a very high level. If you can recall, Jollibee tried to purchase Culver's but we're denied so they ended up buying Smashburger instead. And I can see why, Culver's food is delicious and is very close to In N Out flavor. I'm so happy that there are two Culver's very close to me (Niles and Skokie). However, this is the only 4 star rated Culver's in these parts. So I tip my hat to the owner, managers and staff. Pro-tip - Complete the survey (look at your receipt) and get a free serving of ice cream. Please install speed bumps in your parking lot because Gerry T may not be as fast and nimble one day. When it comes to the restaurant the store looked pretty clean; the bathrooms were in good shape, the tables were nicely wiped down, and the seats were fine too. A quick fast food carryout on a busy Friday evening. The restaurant was quite busy with the drive thru and inside ordering but the staff was able to get my order out of 5 sandwiches quite quickly, faster than I expected. The burgers were as expected and portion sized was great- we got 2 double deluxe burgers. And I also tried the North Atlantic Cod sandwich for the first time. The fish was very flaky. I had a Mushroom & Swiss Butter Burger, Wisconsin Cheese Curds and a Concrete. The burger tasted very rich with the cheese and buttered buns, although the meat was slightly under seasoned. The curds were perfectly cheesy and salty. I finished the meal with a tasty chocolate concrete with brownies, pecans and hot fudge - it was so chocolatey and rich and I loved every bite. I was extremely confused by their drive thru entrance coming from Skokie blvd. I must of circled around two times. The exit and entrance are right on top of each other. After a few long, excruciating hours of working on a CS project, my friend, Julio, and I thought we deserved some Chick-Fil-A. As we drove to Old Orchard, we began planning out our Chick-Fil-A order. But that big blue oval caught our attention. Being that neither of us were from the Midwest, we had barely heard of Culver's before. Spontaneously, we changed our minds and pulled into a parking spot in front of the Culver's. As I walked to the front door, I noticed something that sets this restaurant apart from others: correct door handles. Correct door handles are a crucial part of any restaurant. This Culver's nailed it. Opening those doors, I had high hopes for this Culver's. There wasn't a line, so I had my order taken quickly. Not only was my order taken quickly, but it was taken with care and compassion. The lady taking my order was so patient and willing to help me make a decision on what to order. For the first time ever, I felt loved. I received my order a few minutes after I ordered. I first targeted the cheese curds. My friend, Tofunmi, is obsessed with Culver's cheese curds, so I had to see what they were all about. I personally don't like cheese, but the cheese curds tasted okay. The Bleu Cheese dip that I ordered along with the cheese curds was trash. I needed a more filling, substantial food item, so I also ordered a burger, the Culver's Deluxe. But no way in hell should that burger be considered a burger. What they did to that burger should be considered a felony. The meat to lettuce/cheese/tomato/vegetable ratio was horrific. The patty was so thin. The cheese was melted on the inside but not on the edges. Julio ordered a random deluxe chicken sandwich and some fries. After chomping down on his food, he said the harshest thing I have ever heard someone say: the food was similar to that of Burger King. To make a mediocre eating experience worse, the music that was being played was a little sad. We left the Culver's regretting our decision to not go to Chick-Fil-A. Always delicious food and amazing service at this location. I come here often with my kids as they love the kids meal which comes with a free scoop of Culver's famous frozen custard. I would like to give kudos to Matthew for being one of the nicest and most helpful employees he's always in such a great mood and extremely attentive. My first time trying Culver's. I loved it. Had a single butterburger, cheese curds, and a mini concrete with oreo and strawberry mixed in. I can't tell what part of my meal was my favorite because I enjoyed every item I got. Butterburger is standard and reminds me of in-n-out but probably less fresh and more sloppy. Cheese curds are different sizes and are better than Freddy's cheese curds. The mini concrete was creamy. Glad I don't have a Culver's around me otherwise I'd be here often. read more

Culver's has always been among our favorite fast food chains. We've dined at this (and other) Culver's locations countless times, but until now, we've never had an occasion to use their drive-through. At dinnertime on a Saturday evening, we anticipated waiting in a long line of cars and were surprised to find only one car ahead of us. We both ordered double Butterburgers with our favorite toppings, plus sides of onion rings and coleslaw. For dessert, the Missus is a vanilla custard person but I chose the Flavor of the Day, which was Georgia peach. After a quick credit card transaction at the drive-through window, the cashier directed us where to park to await our order. Less than 5 minutes later, a cheerful worker came out with our order (I promptly placed the custard in an insulated cooler which we brought from home). Everything was perfect! I encourage fellow Yelpers to visit their nearest Culver's drive-through; this chain has adapted well to the limitations brought on by the pandemic. read more
