This place is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. A disrespectful employee insulted me while I was waiting for the food I had ordered. Despite my attempts to report this wrongdoing, I only received an apology from the store manager the following day. However, when I asked if the employee would be disciplined, he said she would not. The level of disrespect I experienced at this place has been, to this day, the worst I have ever encountered, and I only received a meaningless apology. At the same time, the employee faced no consequences for her actions. I attempted to submit a report to the corporate offices of the franchise, but I was unable to find the correct contact number or email address to do so. Therefore, even though I love this brand's food, I have not come back to this craphole and I will never do so. It's one of my routine to get Five Guys every Friday at the end of each month. Why? I love their cheese burger! It's juicy, savory, and not overly seasoned. It has a charcoal flavor that keeps me wanting it. Also the free peanuts is another reason I came here. Who doesn't like free peanuts? The environment here is pretty standard Five Guys vibe. Ordered a couple times during the pandemic so the 3 stars is an average of 3 visits. First time early on and the app was down, called and it was so difficult to place an order for three items (nothing crazy) that I ended up telling them not to place the order. Waited weeks and tried again and the ordering was fine and the food was good. Cheeseburger all the way, veggie sandwich all the way and fries. Ordered today and fries were so salty they were almost inedible and I like salt. Ordered the same as usual and as for the sandwiches, other than having tomatoes that were almost as white as the mayo (on both sandwiches and totally inedible) they were ok. Burger was very bland. Now there's no problem with the taste of five guys foods. After all they've been voted best burger by many newspapers and magazines. But my complaint is about this location, you see I ordered a hotdog with easy ketchup easy mustard, and while I thought they got that order right they totally didn't. Sure. I messed up by ordering a hot dog, but I didn't think $10 for a burger was reasonable. I still spent $12 for a nasty hotdog and small fry. I waited 15 mins for this order. Finally done, they cram the food into this tiny paper bag. I grab the oil soaked bag, take 10 steps outside and the bag rips open spilling all my food out onto my shoes and cement. Fuming and disappointed with my choices, I went back in to ask for napkins so I can try to clean all the oil of my clothes and hands. They offer me more fries (not interested in waiting another 15mins for another oil bath) or a soda (something I didn't order, spill,or want). Increasingly more embarrassed and frustrated, I say, just the napkins, hoping this will end the charade of unwanted peace offerings. The third guy hands me a new paper bag. "Christ, man! This was a fantastic experience. Fries are typically crispy and ample. The place is continually well kept and employees are pleasant and speedy. You can order your burger any way you want and they will do it. Shakes are good too. The burger was cooked perfectly. It tastes more like a real burger, not like a fast-food burger. One of our favorite places! Everything was good. They always have fresh toppings, the best burger I've had in a long time. Nice for a family visit if you don't want to cook. I'll be honest I have been coming to this wonderful establishment for a very long time. The best part of this place is that you get some delicious food that they used peanuts for the cooking oil. Not going to lie but it's very expensive for any purchase at the location. I've been coming to this place since back in 2010 when the new iPhone 4 came out and this place just opened so my buddies insisted on celebrating here. Those are the precious memories that I love to experience every time I come here. Although lately the service has actually changed managers and workers cause of a lot of turnovers and burnouts. The new manager in late 2023 has became ruder for no reason and has been trying to deny us from using normal accessories like drinks, nuts, toppings. Having this awesome ambiance had great people that wouldn't mind the customers having fun and chilling in the place a long time. Honestly I'm not enjoying the new manager, and the food is expensive so let people enjoy themselves being here and let them come back because they are welcome to be back. That's the best investment for reoccurring customers, not feeling welcome again makes it bad for us to come back for another burger. read more

Was at the Edens Plaza location in Wilmette last night. Placed a to go order for 4 people in an empty restaurant and sat down to wait the 15 minutes it usually takes to prepare the food. Right after us a family with small unmasked children came in followed by a group of kids. The mother of the small children apparently is more important than everyone else because a few minutes after ordering she started to whine about her food. This wasn't the worker's fault of course, but he was getting visibly flustered by her constant complaining right in his face at the counter. He asked for her receipt number which she refused to go get from her table and instead she starting rattling off what she had ordered which was very similar to our order. Surprise...the worker gave her our order which she took back to her table and unloaded, realized wasn't hers, put it all back in the bag, walked to the counter and practically threw it at the worker since it was the "wrong" order. Without missing a beat he looked at the receipt on the bag, called out the order number and tried to give me the bag of food that the lady had just had her hands all over. I refused it. I told him (and her since she was still standing there being self important impatient and rude) that I was sorry for the inconvenience but I did not want food that a woman with diapered, unvaccinated and unmasked children had handled. The worker then got angry AT ME and snapped that if I didn't want this food I would have to wait for at least 20 more minutes. Wow. This is food we're talking about it and his expectation was that I should just take food back to my family that someone else had handled and unloaded on the table where small children were climbing . Gross. I was the only party that hadn't done anything wrong in this situation beyond handing over $75 for food that took 40 minutes to make. No one working there offered us anything, not even new milkshakes that, after the "promised" punishment of a 20 minute wait for new food, were melted and went right in the trash. That was the worst $75 meal that I ever had and I won't be going back, which is too bad because I used to love 5 Guys and this location was the only one near enough to go to. read more

Five Guys delivers good quality burger with a great flavor. Ordered bacon cheeseburger. The price is absolutely reasonable. You can choose the toppings you want on your burger. My bacon cheeseburger is fantastic taste and super delicious and equal portion. Their staff was energetic, Friendly, personable and very courteous as well. It was quick and efficient service. Bruce was likely fired, sat around the house for 60+ weeks, collecting unemployment from Barry Serato's White House, eating cheesy poofs, watching the Maury Povich show, and maybe accepting job retraining funds from Illinois Gov. Pat 'Tax, Borrow, $pend, Repeat' Quinn, Either way, I wouldn't have Bruce officiate at a pigs bris. A Four Star review?!? So I ordered my food, about the same meal as the last time, sat down to enjoy my beverage, admire the food reviews that never go past 2009, and already my order was ready. The fries were hot and fresh, the hamburgers were hot and moist, That's good for at least three stars right there, the music wasn't blaring so you could actually hear yourself think, and listen into conversations the next table over if you so pleased. (Another gold star) The only way this could be a Five Star review for a Five Guys is if you didn't face into the group garbage bins for the Corner Bakery, Five Guys and Panda Express, (or if it was BYOB) Perfection has its price, I don't see why the garbage couldn't be moved out of line of sight if the local restaurant managers really wanted to. With so many burger joints popping up in the area something has to stand out for these places...freshness and quality! I really like my cheeseburgers made to order and what stands out for Five Guys is they offer other toppings like grilled mushrooms, grilled onions and peppers for free. The only thing I wish they offered were more choices with the kind of cheese to put on my burger. They only offer American Cheese. There meat is fresh and they pile the toppings on and I ordered the little burger which is one pattie (I think it was 1/4 pound) instead of the regular burger which has 2 patties. Their french fries are the best because they have the right saltiness, they're fresh cut and they're fried in PEANUT oil! Sorry for those allergic to peanuts. The taste is so much better with peanut oil as opposed to canola oil. The floors are cleaner now since there are no longer free peanuts to eat before your order is done. read more

Two aspects I need people to stop bitching about on Yelp. Chains and "I don't get it". The beauty of Yelp is that there are hundreds of reviews out there explaining everything from ones experience to why it's good, so get to reading. Since I'm on my soap box one last gripe.. users that say "I like quality" yet in the same breath would admit to wanting Panda Express.. That shit is not quality its mass produced garbage. This is Chicago, there is great Chinese and Pan Asian cuisine everywhere. Fresh never frozen. That says it all folks and it's that easy. If you don't get it, then you just don't fucking get it. If you've tasted meat, formed your own burgers at home and cared for their preparation and taste. You would probably get it. Meat that is never frozen and hand formed. In the same thinking, if you have eaten fries fried in vegetable oil and fries made in peanut oil, there is a difference tasted & felt in the texture. I had time to kill waiting on my Ma enjoying her shopping experience since I finished some produce shopping at the Fresh market. There was a time when I passed this area frequently and enjoyed the produce at this market. Walking down the strip I saw the sign for Five guys and was thrilled immediately. Hadn't eaten all afternoon and a little cheeseburger would be perfect. If you don't know the ordering process, the "little" means one patty and the regular is two. Most toppings are free and you can pile them on for a more fuller feeling. For a first time dining, I would recommend the little. The place was clean and there were a number of employees restocking condiments. My burger was great as it usually is at Five guys however although the fries were fresh they were way too salty. Five Guys seems to be a growing chain and this place set the disappointment for me even though this is the first visit. It wasn't a busy night when I came in (Sunday night). I have to say the food was not that impressive since the fries were served warm from sitting out too long. There are plenty of newspaper clippings and magazine clippings stating this place serves the best fries and burgers. Definitely it may come from Five Guys, but definitely not this location! The Food: The fries come in very large orders. One order of large fries was enough to share with three of us. Other than burgers with various toppings, the only other thing on the menu is grilled cheese sandwiches. My younger son got one of these and really loved it. Five Guys is a chain, so the food is relatively consistent at all of its locations. What you get is a simple burger, which you could get almost anywhere. What you will not get at almost any other chain location - or fast food joint - is the exceptional service present at the Wilmette branch. The staff is extremely sincere, courteous and generous with their portions. One particular member is always overwhelmingly kind to my son. Five Stars for Five Guys I'm a Chicago area native, so I've never tried these "guys" at one of their other locations. I live between Old Orchard and Edens Plaza in Wilmette, so you'd think I'd be within walking distance to a good burger joint, but I'm not. (I love Portillo's roast beef and fries, but not their burgers, and Irvings' burgers at Eden's Plaza aren't too good either. Old Orchard is remodeling, so McDonalds--which isn't good, but it is reliable--is gone too.) So I was very happy to see this new burger joint in walking distance open up. I went to try them as soon as I saw the store had opened. They are terrific. The burgers are huge and yummy with two patties on their "default" size although you can order smaller burgers, the french fries are yummy (and generous--they put in your cup of fries...then throw in a lot more on top of that), the manager a very sweet lady. Their drink machines are pretty sci-fi looking with a big touch screen, although I've never used them (I usually walk over and take mine to go, and I hate walking with an open drink in my hand.) The decor is snappy red and white. Only downside is the Five Guy's policy of having open peanut containers for people to snack on while they wait. During food rush times, peanut shells and junk can litter the floor, although during slower periods they're gone. I don't know if that's common with the other stores or if the customers at this one are just messy when eating peanuts. I tend not to take the peanuts because it's difficult not to let your peanut shells end up on the floor and I feel like an idiot bending down and trying to carefully pick my peanut motes off the floor.
