So far so good. My son wanted a three patty bacon cheese burgers with lettuce snd tomato ONLY, lg fries and an Oreo shake. I ordered a regular bacon cheeseburger lettuce wrap either grilled onions, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and mayo. My wife ordered a regular burger bowl with tomato, lettuce, grilled onions and mushrooms, mayo and mustard. The person taking my order was pleasant and the order was taken accurately, I reviewed the receipt to ensure this. I checked the order before leaving the store to ensure I had everything I ordered, I did. I did NOT open each burger to ensure they, specifically, were correct. My bad! When I got home we discovered that neither bacon cheeseburger had bacon on them. My son's burger that was only supposed to have lettuce and tomato had unwanted bonus ingredients of grilled onions and ketchup. My son and wife also said the fries were soggy, because they weren't cooked long enough. It would have been a 20-30 minute round trip to return to the store, so my family told me not to go back, and call the store after we ate. I did so and the best the manager could do for me was have me come back to the store so they could remake the burgers. That is a non-starter, unless he wanted to remake the entire order, While remaking one part of the order everything else gets colder and becomes inedible.

Patty Please in Avondale does it superbly well, but SALT leaves some to be desired. While I wasn't thrilled about the patty that fell apart after I so much as looked at it questioningly, I am willing to offer some grace for a fast casual spot. I ordered a Double with Hot Peppers, and a side of Fuego Onion Rings (note: the Fuego are seasoned with a ghost pepper spice blend - be ready for HEAT!) Other than becoming a fork-and-knife affair after the first bite, the burger was fine, The ingredients were of A-OK quality, and the hot peppers added a noticeable, but not extreme level of heat. Spots like this where the food isn't dry or insipid, while not 'winning' are definitely not losing. Then come the Onion Rings. Massive credit to the worker for warning me that the Fuego has a ghost pepper seasoning, and confirming if that's what I really want. I asked for the seasoning on the side, as not to burn what's left of my palate off. I think it's not crazy hot, but I also breathe so much fire generally that Tabasco tastes "lite-mild," so YMMV." The rings themselves were fresh out of the fryer, cooked golden-brown and delicious. These rival the rings I've ordered at some sit-down spots, and are definitely the star. When it comes to the cheese sauce, it is A-OK for commercially made and processed stuff. Amazing for dipping the onion rings into! The service is great! While it wasn't busy at the time, the food came out reasonably fast for something being made fresh. Kudos again for recognizing that I may be making a flaming mistake and warning me how much heat Fuego really contains. Finally, in terms of the vibe, everything was clean, and there was a tasteful use of easy-on-the-eyes colors, and some fun art on the walls. Final verdict: I feel about SALT the way I felt about Panera before Private Equity turned it into an abominable shell of what it used to be. Good products at reasonable prices. At the same time, especially given this is a chain, it is not worth a special trip, but A-OK if you're local and aren't feeling the Golden Arches.

There are two self order kiosk where I was able to order a double hamburger and a drink $20. Order took a bit long around 20 minutes before I could eat. My usual spots are Roma's and Jay's, and I'll take Little Island's beef all day over those two. It's roasted in-house (like any proper beef should be) and less dry than you'll find at a bunch of the more well-known joints. Good bread and giardiniera as well. If the Evanston location raises an eyebrow, know that this is an old-school beef, burger and dog joint that would fit in in any Chicago neighborhood. The charburgers are standard charburgers--totally fine, but I make the journey for the outstanding beef. You'll also always find the same friendly guy manning the grill and register (owner, I think), and not much else (if any) staff. I like a place that's completely consistent in familiarity, customer experience, quality. It also may be the most inexpensive restaurant in Evanston. While beef prices have skyrocketed in recent years (an equal-sized Roma's beef is about $4 more), you get one of the best and tastiest beefs in Chicagoland here for under $8 (as of this writing). Their giardiniera cheese fries (with Merkt's--i.e., the creme de la creme of cheese-fry cheese) were also featured in Chicago mag as one of the "Nine Best Ways to Experience Giardiniera"--although I have yet to try those...

The first time I made the mistake of just getting a regular single patty hamburger but not this time! Pro tip honey the RHR Double with fries. If you follow any foodies on Instagram most of them will say the same. Their home cut fries are the bomb as well. And for $8.50?!?! The price a burger should be. The quality a burger should be. But lately I've been getting the Atlantic cod dinner or the Walleye dinner. The nice lady behind the counter took my order for the 2 piece cod dinner and handed me a number. The place was packed and I found a table and waited. The dining area is large but felt small with so many people. I received my order and dug in. The fish was fresh and hot, tasted like it just was made. The fish was flaky and crispy. I love the tartar sauce that they give you. With a squeeze of lemon and malt vinegar the fish is so good that I wish I would have gotten the 3 piece dinner. The cole slaw was creamy with a good crunch. The French fries were really good. The roll wasn't as fluffy this time around and didn't get any butter. But, I'm lazy and didn't want to get up, so I dipped my roll in the tartar sauce, not bad. I left full and happy. I have to go back for the walleye before it disappears.

I came here several times and I don't know why I didn't do a review until now however, this most recent visit on a Friday during lent was absolutely fantastic. The lady working at the register behind the counter was so super friendly and helpful. She made me aware of so many different combinations and options of what you can do with a simple two-piece fish platter that comes with two side sides. For example, I didn't know you could even change out the sides, let alone app for the premium size or even forfeit some of the sides. I usually eat at Culver's on Fridays during lent and this is the first time anyone's ever told me all the possible options, which was mind-boggling While it might be a little overwhelming, I will say it was great to even realize that there were any options to begin with She had the most bubbly, friendly personality, absolute patience to even explain all of these things to us and then to take our order and get it right who knew? Anyhow, she is great whoever trained her was fantastic and whoever hired her definitely saw her ability to do well at this job. She clearly likes people she likes communicating and being helpful. I like Culver's overall not just for fish but also for the cheese curds and the sandwich sandwiches. This is a solid go to for fast food when I have to choose fast food.
