I have not been to Potbelly in awhile . Saw that they have a special: sandwich chips and a drink so I went to enjoy an early dinner. Turkey with Swiss and additional Avocado tasted good. Not as much Avocado I hoped for, but still sandwich was spicy good with all the fixings! Got the key lime cookie to go, yum! Staff was very friendly the second you walked inside. Staff was helpful with any questions about an order. Place has plenty of tables and even has a to go shelf for pick ups. Music playing is a great addition for diners looking for casual atmosphere. UPDATE 10/2/19: Bumping this down to one star, because I ordered vegetarian mac and cheese for a lunch meeting today (mac + roasted red peppers and hot peppers), and somehow Potbelly's took that to mean "lets smother the entire thing in bacon." (See photos. The label indicates is the correct order: mac + 2 kinds of peppers. Whoever prepped it didn't know what they were doing, and apparently no one else checked their work). So, I sat through a 2 hour lunch meeting without lunch (other than the chips and cookie I fortunately ordered), and then had to reschedule my meeting afterward so I could go pick up real lunch so I'm not starving the rest of the day. This is the second time I've ordered a vegetarian meal and found meat in it. Eventually, though, I've come to love the fact that it's available without losing its original personality or quality. Sandwiches and shakes are still every bit as good as I remember from my youth, and they've added some other great options as well - soup, mac and cheese, salads... The GM, Wendy, is incredible to work with and there have never been any hiccups. Honestly, I feel like you can't go wrong with Potbelly's and their sandwiches. First of all, their breads are to die for!! I've tried both the white and wheat breads and I prefer the nuttiness of the wheat bread sandwiches. They have a variety of different sandwiches and I most always choose the turkey breast original. You can choose to go Big for a sandwich which is a longer sandwich for an extra $1.30. Original sandwiches cost $5.10, which is fairly reasonable. The sandwiches are toasted and the whole process is fast and easy. If you like sweets as much as I do, definitely try the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies here! Those cookies are addicting! Almost everybody I know is obsessed with Potbelly's. I'm not a huge sub person (OK, it's not technically subs, but not ordinary sandwiches either), so please take my review with a grain of salt. Or, rather, take that salt and put it on your sandwich. You don't need to be a huge spicy food fan like I am to realize that this stuff is not flavorful at all, unless you count grease or mayo. Ordering is confusing. I like grilled mushrooms. Sometimes, I forget to order them in Phase 1 of Your Important Ordering Experience. Then, I try during Phase 2 of Your Important Ordering Experience. Not the best place for Vegans/Vegetarians, this location only offers two sandwiches. (-1 star) - The Mediterranean, which includes hummus, feta cheese, cucumbers, artichokes & roasted red peppers --- the better of the vegan/veggie options, you can always go with no cheese (+1 star, the better option) - The Skinny Mushroom Melt, which includes (canned) mushrooms, swiss, provolone & cheddar cheeses--you can order without the cheese, but then you would only taste the salty-ness of the mushrooms. ( -1 star, the worst option) Of course, you have the option to add these free sandwich toppings: Mayo, lettuce, pickle, mustard, onion, hot peppers, and tomatoes -- but even when you tell them to put a little extra, there still is not enough to fill your sandwich or belly. (-1 star) These sandwiches fall flat in the veggie department--and I honestly would never eat there again. I have a bunch of meat-eating friends who absolutely rave about this place--and maybe that's the reason why it's so good. The other +1 star comes from their shakes and dessert options (although not vegan-friendly) they taste amazing. Offical verdict: 2/5 stars--I'm just going to stick with Jimmy Johns for now. When I made this account, I told myself I would never review a chain, since Yelp is the little guy's only hope. But as I've realized that the line between chain and non-chain is blurred (Chipotle started as a solo venture, chains like Portillo's are hard to find outside Chicagoland, and half the original restaurants in this city are outposts of corporate Lettuce Entertain You anayway), I've decided I'd review my favorite chain, just in case you were unfamiliar with it. Potbelly exists here in Chicagoland and in DC. I haven't seen it anywhere else (UPDATE: they're everywhere, but they weren't in my hometown). They are primarily a sandwich place. You have your choice of meat and cheese, plus a selection of toppings. I always go with turkey and swiss on white, with tomato, hot peppers (essentially giardiniera), and mayo if I'm feeling too thin. They also have chili, rotating soups, sodas, chips, cookies, salads, and (new addition) mac 'n cheese. The quality is really good. Like, shockingly good. And consistent across locations and between visits (my Evanston review holds for other locations, too). The bread has a flaky crust and a doughy inside that I really like. The turkey is as good as any deli would provide. The giardiniera is excellent (and a real treat if you're not from Chicago, where the stuff is everywhere). The chili hits the spot. The cookies are absurd. Like, I don't know what they put in them, but they're perfect. The only way to improve upon them is to throw one in the microwave for fifteen seconds. If you're ever in Chicagoland on a business meeting and need a quick lunch break, or you're travelling here with finicky kids and want something that doesn't stink, or you're passing through Midway airport, go to Potbelly's. You get a (depending on where you're from) "local" flavor and a reliably good sandwich. read more

Potbelly's overall as a chain is decent enough. It's usually not one of my first options for a meal but you can get a warm sandwich for an average enough price. My husband swears by the Wreck sandwich which includes salami, roast beef, and turkey as his main sandwich when we do go here. But this particular location is in the south part of downtown Evanston and has outdoor seating in the summertime. I'm usually torn when we do go here if I want one of their shakes with the little cookie or if I want a Jamba Juice smoothie which is next door. read more

I'm a fan of Potbelly and so is my boyfriend, but he's had issues with delivery from this one. Today was the third time the delivery guy arrived at my boyfriend's work without change. The order total was $14, and this already included a $3 delivery fee. My boyfriend had a $20 bill and was going to tip an extra $2, and AS USUAL, the delivery guy had no change. BF: "If you send me another delivery guy without change on them, I will send him back and never order from you again. Sandwich was delicious though."
