The first project we had Victor do was trim our 3 Palm Trees in the front yard of our new house. I went to the work that day to nicely trimmed Palms and not a sign that anyone had even been there. I was very impressed so we hired his team to permanently remove some Bird Of Paradise plants (tall and at least 6 bundled together) we had on our backyard. Once again when to work came home at the were totally gone.. we were very happy. Victor has never been to my house, never viewed the trees I requested to remove, or inspected any of the work. Most claims in Victor's response seem misinformed and more generic excuses as opposed to "another side" - which is consistent with my experience so far. In response to Victor: 1. Wall damage was the caps, not that crack in the wall - I corrected the description to make clear. If Victor was ever at my property, would know that there was no foliage covering the wall. 2. I never received a call back as claimed. I have phone logs on my phone and also from my cell provider. If Victor can show me otherwise, will gladly correct my review - believe this as another generic CYA excuse. 3. I did not change the tree requesting to be removed, Victor quoted the wrong tree; please see original review. If Victor can show me documentation of this as you claim you have, will gladly correct my review. Omar knew it was misquoted as this was explained in our 30 minute ping pong conference call. If it is a chance of mix-up, would recommend you include the pictures and clearly indicate the tree you are quoting in your estimate to avoid the situation in the future instead of blaming the customer. 4. Victor told me to work it out with Omar at the end of this conference call about cutting the additional trees. Does not hold each other accountable for commitments and words, just trying to use documentation as excuses. Omar also made some cuts to another tree, so again misinformed as never on my property, does know what is going on in the field, or another generic CYA excuse. "Contract is a contract" should apply both ways when you make a mistake on misquoting. No integrity. 5. I was never told or notified that the plants would be killed or damaged. I was notified that irrigation or lighting next to the tree could be damaged (lighting was removable solar and irrigation was not used) which was clearly written on the quote. If Victor can show me or explain to me how I was notified and explained otherwise, I will gladly correct the review. 6. Final walkthrough: Have dealt with many contractors and multiple tree services in area. Final walkthrough are typically CYA and people should not feel pressured to sign if not ready. Did not trust or want to deal with the crew and Victor anymore, does not mean my review was not correct or did not occur. I stand by it 100%. 7. Entirely understand not overworking crew. The crew rolled in at 10am on a Saturday, told me got a late start, and was sipping some coffee. Got done earlier than expected (original review) and at the end of the day was not told tired crew but "boss" told to return truck early (using each other as excuses again). Had another crew come do the work and took one person about 10 min. I can't dispute when the crew starts their day, but starting at 5:50am and having an overworking the crew sounds another generic claim and excuse. 7. Five star reviews: I'm sure 95% of jobs go without any issues, has been in business for a while. As I said in original review, seem like they know what they are doing, most items not significant individually. Happy to own up to any of my own mistakes (as I have in these reviews) and Victor likes to call out rightly and (mostly) wrongly. Would be a better business model to ensure customer is happy with your service as opposed to CYA and a continuous throwing excuses and blaming the customer. I had an excellent experience with Environmental Green Tree Care. TLDR version: They were quick, honest, and professional. Now the full version: I needed to cut down a Brazilian pepper tree and a small bush that my home's previous owner planted many years before. He planted it way too close to both the house and our brick fence. Naturally, the tree's growing roots broke our sprinkler system and started cracking our brick fence. It was time to go! So, I got quotes from four different companies. I was shocked by how cheap some of the quotes were ($300 for both tree and bush removal?) *and* by how expensive one was ($700?!) -- both from companies that didn't even come out to look at the tree or ask for a photo. How can you really give someone an accurate quote if you don't know what you're working with? That's why Environmental Green Tree Care caught my attention. The office manager communicated quickly via text message, asking for info and photos. Once he got the intel, he emailed me a quote and stuck to it. He also warned me about certain things, like what they're not liable for (landscaping, sprinklers, pipes, etc.). The quote was not the cheapest, but based on how upfront and honest they were (along with their online reviews), I knew they would do the job right. On the day of, the crew who came out were friendly and efficient. They said it would take 2 to 3 hours, but it took only about 1.5 hours. They also took away all the branches and cleaned up afterward. While the crew did break one of my sprinkler heads in the process (which they warned me in advance could happen) and they didn't dig up all of the roots (which would probably require huge machinery/vehicles that wouldn't fit in my backyard), they did grind down the main stump 6 inches below ground so that the roots would stop growing. I'm OK with both, as they communicated these things in advance and I agreed to those terms. I have mixed feelings about Environmental Green Tree Care, so I will break it down into pros and cons. PROS: Quick response, professional in terms of communication, arrived on time (actually a bit early), did an excellent job trimming two trees and a bush. Workers worked quickly and hard. CONS: One of the trees I asked to be trimmed (Italian cypress) was barely trimmed. The foreman mentioned it was dying and would have to eventually be removed. Ok. However, they did almost nothing to it, but the price did not change. Secondly, they said there were some bugs akin to bark beetles in our olive and recommend we treat it for $150. Since we like our olive tree as it is the main feature of our front yard, we decided to do it. As a result of this treatment, however, I discovered they severed the main irrigation line and one of my sprinklers completely disappeared. I had no idea until we noticed our neighbors' driveway completely wet. I have since repaired this. One last nitpick: one of the workers smoked while he worked, which is not a problem, but he did not need to leave cigarette butts in our backyard (we do not smoke). Again, they did an excellent job on two of the trees, but I feel like the price was not worth it. In response to the owner's response, I was told that the tree would have to be removed, but no one mentioned anything about not trimming it as much. In addition, if, by your open admission you trimmed it less (let's be honest, barely at all), should that not be reflected in the price? As far as the sprinkler line, I did not notice until a few days later as they are on timers. I fixed it, but I was just disappointed. When my mother-in-law hired you to remove a tree she was asked to move irrigation lines. The same could have been asked of me. I received 3 quotes from landscapers and decided to go with them even though they were not the cheapest as they talked about how they have all this insurance and many cheaper landscapers did not and they had a high yelp review. When I received their quote it was very sparse and each line item had two words to describe the job. My job was pretty big so I asked them I want to hire them but asked if they can describe each line item before they start the job so we are on the same page. The guy on the phone said he couldn't as he was not there but will send same guys over again to go over the quote again before I sign the document. The same guy came who gave me the quote and when we walked the property all of a sudden he didn't remember that I wanted to trim both side of my tree not just my side of the house. Who only trims only one side of the tree? I specifically walked everyone I received quotes from to my neighbors backyard and shows them the trees as I didn't want the leaves to keep falling on their side. He he he didn't remember me saying it which is a lie because one of the main reason I wanted to hire someone was to trim the trees off my neighbors house! As we walked further he said that one of the tree was too big and he didn't account for that. Seriously? The quote was about a month old and suddenly the one tree grew so much that he needed to give me a higher quote? At that point I told him to leave. This is why I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. On his first visit, EGTC removed LOADS of bougainvillea, banana palms and other trunk/root remanence, and trimmed our two remaining melaleucas and big pine tree.
