Podocarpus Trees looking good
Scott M.

Glad we chose Big Mike & Son Tree Service to trim our Podocarpus trees all along our back wall. Not only did they do a fantastic job but they were pleasant to work with and the price was good too! Highly recommend Shane and his crew!

Bamboo before

I would definitely recommend Big Mike & Sons' tree service. The crew was great. When making the appointment, Shane quickly returned my call and after a couple of text messages we booked the appointment with a fair price. On the day of our appointment, the crew arrived early, evaluated the area and quickly set-up. They cut about 4' off of a strip of bamboo and trimmed a magnolia tree that probably had not been touched in 20 years. They finished within 2 hours, cleaned up the branches and made sure nothing dropped in our neighbors side. They did a great job and we plan to have them back to remove some overgrown ornamental gras

Rockstars

Shane and his guys are so kind and professional. I am ever so grateful for the amazing work they did on our property! I highly recommend them to everyone. May God continue to bless your family business. Thank you again for your kindness and quick service

Shane has been a game changer in getting all of our overgrown shrubs and tree stumps cleared out from our new home. Professional, reasonably priced, and really easy to work with. Will for sure use him for all of our tree trimming and landscape excavation needs moving forward!

During my visit to Irvine, I came across a crow stuck in a tree with its legs wrapped by a string and it was hanging from about 15 feet high. Big Mike & Sons was the only business understanding of the issue and willing to come out and save the bird without hesitation. Shane immediately sent his crew over to help!! After almost 30 minutes of struggle, the crow figured out how to free itself and we called it a day. Shane's responsiveness and eagerness to help is without question, no matter the issue! I recommend this business for any small or big tree service that you may need. You are in good hands! Thank you Shane!!

Is there anyway to get some wood chips from this business to use as much? I read that some companies will gladly off load this material since they get a lot of it.

He was very responsive and answered all my questions. I was able to get the job completed within that same week. His brother did a very thorough job with the trees and weeds. The plan was to remove a bunch of overgrown plants in my front yard, relocate them and also fix some irrigation issues in my planters. The price seemed OK and we had to negotiate our monthly service fee fees for regular maintenance after that but we got to a happy place. It went downhill from there. The day of plant removal he had somebody else (no Ingles) doing all the work and did not know how to replant the plants. They did not stand, they fell over the next day. He over-trimmed the other planter beds to the point where most of those plants are failing now. And the worst thing is after three years of Artificial Turf and lots of gardening activity, no one has ever ruined my turf. Until this day when the worker put a hot trimmer down on the turf. He tried to cover it up with his foot and something else while I was around the house. But when I noticed it the next day and checked the cameras... he was clearly trying to deceive myself about his accident. I sent the video to Jose. Jose sent someone out about 2 weeks later (after about 5 messages to him) to fix that. In the meantime, the gardening service I was getting was not good either. It was not Jose. It was somebody else. I texted Jose about some issues on how to be a better service supplier for my home, he was unresponsive. Next thing I know no one was coming to my home to do regular weekly maintenance. He ghosted me. Completely unprofessional to send help that can't do their job and they not respond to me. So he quit without telling me. Very very frustrating. Highly unreliable. Beware.

From beginning to end, Jake and his team were professional, efficient, and great to work with. Jake was incredibly proactive and involved throughout the entire process. He consistently followed up, met with us to select flooring samples and plants, worked within our HOA guidelines, and provided everything we needed for HOA approval. He also stayed on top of the permitting process and followed up with the city to keep everything moving. What we especially appreciated was the quality of their work and attention to detail. The crew never rushed the project just to get it done. They took the time to make sure everything was done properly while still keeping the project moving and staying on schedule. The entire crew was hardworking and very respectful of our home and space throughout the renovation, working 6 days a week. Even after the project was completed, Jake continued to be extremely responsive. We had a few minor items that needed follow-up, and he addressed them right away. We really appreciated that the same level of service and responsiveness continued even after the job was finished. We're so grateful to Jake and his team for doing such an amazing job and completing everything on time so we could enjoy our new backyard this summer. We love how everything turned out and would highly recommend Jake and the Echo Landscape team to anyone considering an outdoor renovation!

I can't say enough great things about Jake Joe and his team at Echo Homes. From start to finish,…read morethe entire experience exceeded my expectations. Our project included a full transformation of our backyard, courtyard, and side yard, and the results are absolutely stunning. Jake installed two custom fire pits, beautifully laid porcelain tile, and a customized louvered patio cover. He also helped with the placement of patio pots and selecting plant material, carefully considering sunlight, plant hardiness, and overall aesthetics. Everything feels perfectly balanced and thoughtfully designed. Even though I had a professional landscape design to start with, Jake suggested several updates that elevated the entire space, giving it a more modern and upscale look. He truly has an exceptional eye for detail and is resourceful at troubleshooting. His crew, Moi and Paco, were equally impressive. They were onsite every day from 7am to sunset, Monday through Saturday, and their work ethic was unmatched. Moi, in particular, stood out. He is incredibly diligent, knowledgeable, and professional. It was clear that they approached every step with care, always "measuring twice and cutting once." They took the time to think through details and identify potential issues before making any cuts, which gave me a lot of confidence in their craftsmanship. Jake's commitment to quality really sets him apart. If something wasn't perfect in his eyes, he had his team redo it even if it was solely for aesthetics like the placement of a pot. His adjustments and recommendations made the final result even better. This wasn't only about getting the job done quickly, it was definitely about getting it done right. The end result is top-notch, and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend Jake Joe and Echo Homes to anyone looking for high-quality, thoughtful, and beautifully executed landscaping work. (I wish I could've said this about my house remodeling contractors - no comment!)

JDG Landscaping - Turf design

I knew I needed to repair my backyard from years of gopher damage that resulted in lumps and holes,…read moreand poor drainage that caused my yard to flood against the house. To fix this, I needed to tear up my grass, redo my irrigation, level the yard, add drainage, and put down some new St Augustine sod. At least that's how my project started. Because my wedding got Covid19-postponed, we decided to add a gazebo in the backyard (bought one from Costco... We're going to get married under there). That meant I also needed a concrete pad. Then I also noticed that the weed barrier under the rocks near my palm trees had been destroyed over the past 15 years. I decided to redo the weed barrier, and add more rocks. I figured that would do it. That way no one would break their ankle on the new grass since it would be level and we'd have a nice dance area on the concrete pad (inside joke... Don't ask for a hexagon...lol). So, I had about six companies come out to give me quotes. As they came out, I learned some other things that needed to be done. Most of it had to do with whether or not I wanted a mini paver wall or bender board wall along the palm tree planter and my vegetable garden for the new grass. That was until Danny came over and took a look. He has so many great ideas. Just ask him to envision your yard and what would he suggest. He suggested we add a DG (decompressed granite) sand pathway along the palm trees. He also suggested I add a planter along the side of my house which would improve the look of it. Additionally, he suggested I change the vegetable garden out by adding cedar boxes and DG sand. I asked him to keep going, what else would he do if it were his yard. That's where he came up with the idea of the stone pathway from my gate to the gazebo, changing out my solar lights for hardwired lights, extending my back porch concrete out a couple feet so that my porch swing has more room creating an open pathway, moving my water spigot and adding another one in the veggie garden, putting in mulch around the new planter and around my existing fig tree, adding in irrigation in the Cedarwood planter boxes. I also had him move a fountain and install a new fountain. Additionally, rather than me having a fountain sitting on top of two bricks against my house, he built a little mini planter around it with gravel and added lights in front of each of my fountains. I don't necessarily need to go with the lowest quote, but what is super important to me is having a detailed quote (we went back-and-forth to add little details in here and there like removing tree stump etc. to make sure that we were very clear on the scope of the work) and good communication. The first thing that I found different about Danny versus everyone else, was his passion. I could tell he really had a vision for these things. He is creative and if you let him help you with the design, you'll be pleased with the results. It was more than I had intended to do but I'm very glad I did it. I hired him to do the job. Whenever I had questions, Danny texted me right back. His team, Kevin, and the rest of the guys, did an excellent job. Very hard-working. They cleaned up after themselves when everything was done. I had a couple issues which we resolved. For example, the stones on the pathway to were too far apart for my short legs, so I paid to have him add a couple extra large stones for me. Much better. That's now going to be the aisle where I walk for my wedding next year. Another thing I didn't realize is that the DG sand does get wet when it rains even though it harden initially when it dried. After my backyard project, I also hired Danny to redo my front irrigation which had been hacked together by a previous owner (Lines crisscrossed between planters and grass). His team also trimmed the large tree in my front yard. We may have another project or two in the future. If I end up doing more, I will update my review and add more pictures. Overall, I highly recommend Danny for your landscape design projects, both softscaping and landscaping. Note: he laid down the conduit pipes, but I hired my own electrician to run the lines and add the outlets. I bought the gazebo at Costco and my husband and I installed it. Sunjoy (Great customer service!) hexagon. I bought a large rock fountain from Costco. The two smaller fountains came from Home Depot. I installed a ceiling fan and lights in the gazebo. I also use smart outlets so I can control everything with my phone.

What really stood out was his honesty and integrity. In today's economy, it's refreshing to find a company that doesn't price gouge. Every other estimate I received was double or more than Edwin's price to replace 2 sprinkler valves and an exterior main shutoff valve with a brass quarter-turn ball valve. He checked everything after install, thoroughly cleaned his work area, and reset my sprinkler timers for me before leaving. Edwin kept his pricing fair, reasonable, and easy to understand. Finding an honest, ethical business owner like him is rare these days. He has absolutely earned a customer for life. I'll gladly recommend Newport Sprinkler Repair to my neighbors, friends, and anyone looking for a trustworthy irrigation company. Daniel did solid work on site, dialing in the lawn coverage, sealing crawlspace penetrations, and sleeving the valve wiring. My main advice for future clients is to make sure every expectation is completely aligned during the initial walkthrough. The final bill ended up noticeably higher than the estimate. An underground pipe issue under the driveway was an unexpected discovery and completely understandable to pay for. However, other items became add-ons due to miscommunication. I had expected the controller to be hardwired directly, and I also assumed the pipe thud I mentioned to Ed during his initial visit would be resolved in the original scope rather than needing a water hammer arrestor added after the fact. Overall, they do quality work and accommodated all my requests, so I am happy with the finished system.

It was greatly appreciated that everything was washed down and cleaned by the crew at the end of each day. They were also able to make quick adjustments when our neighbor had some concerns with the hedges we wanted to plant. The scope of the work included adding a concrete pad, extending our concrete patio, planting privacy hedges with drainage and auto watering system, installing artificial grass with paver walkways, and adding pebbles along the exterior wall of our house.
