McCater highway enterprise is the worst, no customer service they are not willing to go the extra mile for customer. However the one on washington str (operated by all black men) yall rock thanks for going that EXTRA mile I was in a bind and you young men came thru with GREAT customer service you guys address any issues or concerns I had. I needed a last minue rental car for a business trip and I usually rent locally but no cars were available on the Labor Day weekend. I went online and found cars available and at a better price at Newark Airport. I took the train from Central Jersey to Newark then transfered to another train directly to EWR where the AirTrain takes you to the car rental center. Customer service was the best! My counter rep was Alesha Ramirez who was friendly, professional and very helpful. She excorted me to the door leading to the cars and said to walk down a pathway where I'd be met by another representative who would assist with car choice. I was met by Andrew Kim, who showed me my car choices, which were many. I was rejecting most of the initial suggestions, and told him I was looking for a vehicle with a large trunk for my equipment. He then told me to wait one moment and ran down another aisle to drive up with the perfect car, a new NISSAN ALTIMA with only 600 miles. Andrew was also very professional and helpful in showing me operational features of the car. As I drove out the exit I was again greeted warmly (unfortunately I did not get her name) but she asked if I was treated well inside. This Enterprise emphasizes the importance of customer service and it shows! I'll definitely be renting from this location in the future! read more

The women & men at this location are incredible! It gets really busy and they're very efficient and accommodating. I've rented here three different times now and each time is a pleasure. This AM I watched them give an elderly gentleman a complimentary ride to his hotel. They're always checking in with people that are waiting to ensure we have been helped / know what order we are in to get our vehicle. I had actually rented a car from Enterprise from their store that was closer to Newark Penn Station, but guess what it was closed and they did not notify me. I had to walk to the open branch, which was thankfully a 15 minute walk away. When it came time to return the car, the business associate said it would "be a while because there was no one to give us a ride". No talk of how long. 15 minutes later, I asked how long it would take, and another rep said, "oh everyone is on their lunch break." If that were the case, I would have been more than happy to walk back to Newark Penn station... The customer service at this place is quite awful and the guy cleaning the cars did not wear a mask. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I rented a vehicle from here as I was getting work done on my car. I reserved a compact car a week prior to coming in, was called two days prior to my reservation to confirm & they told me to call them at least 20mins before picking up the car to make sure it was ready. I called 30 mins before & the woman on the phone laughed at me, saying they don't reserve cars & there was one compact car left in the lot & if I wanted it, I would have to hurry because it is first come, first serve. Now, I had just got into an accident two days prior & was a bit shaken up still, but this woman wanted me to rush to get somewhere to guarantee the car I had already reserved. Right. When I got there, of course, they did not have a compact car. The saleswoman left me waiting for 30mins in a hot garage while she "looked around" then eventually admitted they didn't have anything I was looking for & I would have to rent a larger van if I wanted anything, which was more expensive & I didn't feel conformable driving. When I told her "No, I purposely reserved a compact car because that is what my insurance covered & I am still a bit shaken up from the accident" she just shrugged. She said she could call me when a compact car came available & I can come back to get it. I left there without a car (I requested her to drive me to work as I was now 2 hours late) and had to take an Uber home. I had to call daily to see if the car I had already reserved was available, & three days later, I finally got the rental. When I got into it, it wreaked like weed & the next day, the low tire pressure light went on & I had to refill the tires twice during the week and a half I had the car. The experience was so bad that I asked my autobody shop to return the car for me because I didn't want to deal with their customer service again. Stay far away from this place! read more

The staff is very nice. The car however is terrible! I upgraded to a midsized car so I wouldn't get a 4 cylinder before i arrived there. We arrived to the place little early and they did open on time. The car we got was a Nissan Sentra. It had just been washed so it didn't look bad at first. It had some strange looking stickers on it from a previous usage. It was of course a 4 cylinder which is what I did not want. The worst part of the car though is after we had it for a day and it heated up in the sun, it became obvious that the car was a former smokers car! It was horrendous! After looking around it also has the cigarette burns on the window seal near the window! Terrible car. First and last time using Enterprise since they don't care what their cars look like to represent there company... read more

These guys were extremely helpful. My car got into an accident and Enterprise was where I needed to pick up the car rental. Not even an hour after I got the claim I went to the rental place and they had something readily available. Within 25 minutes my husband and I were in and out. They gave us a 2017 Elantra and the process was seamless, we didn't see the accident coming but thankfully these guys are open on Sundays from 9-1pm. Thank you guys. read more

The staff was respectful and helpful. However, it makes no sense that they cannot drop a client off to another location if they don't have the inventory. I had a really bad experience with them! First they didn't inform me the price that they put on hold when you get a rental car with them! After all, they did take out off my account $250 instead of putting a hold of $50! Call them, ask to return to release the money and they didn't! Owing to a set of circumstances too convoluted to try to explain here, me and a couple of pals faced the very real possibility of our entire road trip through New England being squashed before it even began. Every other car rental agency in Newark turned us down---every last one! We were really looking at being up a creek w/o the proverbial rent-a-paddle. Dear Christine Taylor (CEO)&& It's 12:11 AM December 8, December 9 actually, and I've just had the worst car rental experience of my life. The car we rented from enterprise Rent-A-Car at Newark airport (EWR) broke down with a flat tire on W. 42nd St. in Manhattan, New York. We telephoned enterprise roadside service and they scheduled to have a tow truck pick up the vehicle and sent us a text for an Uber. The link for the Uber was not working and we made a second call about 40 minutes later at which time another link was sent and that too was not working. After another 30 minutes I decided to tell my husband to send the link to my phone to see if that would work and it did. The Uber arrived within five minutes. Upon arrival at enterprise at Newark, we were confronted with questions about what happened. I handed them the contract and my husband gave them his license, and the gentleman walked away. Sometime later, a woman named Taylor came and started to ask the same questions. My husband was very agitated, and he did provide the address of where the vehicle was once again, not understanding why they did not have this information in the system since we had been on the phone with roadside twice already. In the heat of the moment my husband made a comment about people not knowing their "asses from their elbows.". This apparently was a good excuse for the enterprise employees, namely Ben and Taylor to decide not to provide us with another vehicle. I'm extremely disappointed that they chose to determine that they were not willing to tolerate my husband's tone and choice of words, but expected us to tolerate the incompetency of the system because they were not receiving the emails about the roadside service. How this became our problem is still beyond me. I managed to get YaNisha on the Phone from roadside and she showed every single detail from the first time we called about the flat tire to the second time and the Uber and tow requests. She spoke with Taylor on my phone and why that wasn't enough information from her to Taylor to provide us with another vehicle is still beyond my comprehension. Taylor commented that they do not tolerate anyone being irate or cussing at them, yet Taylor felt it appropriate and professional to stand there and shake her head and roll her eyes at me. As soon as I made the same jesters back at Taylor, she said she didn't wanna talk to me and began to walk away. As soon as I told her oh it's OK for you to dish it out but you can't take it, she decided to tell me that the problem was that she was not getting the email about the vehicle. It's unfortunate that the enterprise employees are more concerned about getting their feelings hurt, than satisfying the customer's needs. Not getting the email to them was not our fault. They could've easily gotten the roadside assistance's name, employee number, phone number whatever it took in order to provide us with another vehicle but no they didn't want to because they felt that we were being irate. when I asked Taylor, what was the customer supposed to be able to tolerate, she didn't have much conversation for me at that point. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism in my entire life. I suggest some training, especially soft skills training in the areas of possessing some compassion for your customers be examined and considered. We still do not have a Rent-A-Car. We had to catch the shuttle to our hotel. Just being out of chemo and radiation in the past four months, I'd have to say that renting a car from enterprise is the very last thing I will ever do as long as I'm alive. read more

The Enterprise front desk staff were very pleasant and the pick up/drop service appreciated. This elevated an otherwise a 1 star experience. This Enterprise is located in a very modest repair shop near downtown Newark (see photo) and offers virtually no vehicle selection, so I had to stay with the Jeep Patriot with 16,000+ miles, numerous exterior scratches, an interior that was still wet in places from a careless clean up, an illuminated tire inflation warning light that I was told to ignore, and a radio receiver that only picked 1 AM station and barely 1 or 2 FM stations. Despite the pleasant staff, I'd recommend only using this location with very low expectations. read more

Horrible car. It was a Jeep and it was very old car with no Bluetooth and so extremely dirty windows with very bad window washed. I almost died because I couldn't see on the road when it rained. They keep their vehicles in poor condition! I paid 800 dollars and got the worst car possible. This is outrageous and ridiculous!!! I will never use Enterprise in any state ever again! They took advantage of my urgency for a car and gave me the worst possible options. Don't let this happen to you!!!! read more

Very disappointed in this Enterprise office. My plane was delayed 3 hours coming from SoCal.....got to the airport by 5:30pm.....office closes at 6:00pm.....and they would not wait a few minutes for us to get there. So, it cost me $85 for a cab to take me to my destination.....and that was after waiting outside in the freezing temperatures on line behind 50 other people also waiting. This is not good customer service at all. It's a shame car rental companies double their fees when you rent from the airport. I've rented from Enterprise in the past....but I will think twice before doing business with them again.....because of this one location. Wondering if, under similar circumstances, I would be disappointed at another location. When traveling, one looks forward to receiving services that make their travel more comfortable and enjoyable. I am very displeased with the service of this company. The employee named Paul arrived to pick me up from the collision place and asked for money upfront. He didn't explain to me the procedure. I arrived at Enterprise and the guy was very unprofessional he was asking me a lot of questions way too many questions. He showed me a Nissan Altima that was going to be my rental than without further notice he decided without speaking to me to change the car on me. He didn't mention to me why he was changing the car on me. He took it upon himself to change the car that I was going to rent. To make matters worse he then told me he would deduct $200 from my debit card. I handed him my card then changed my mind. He still decided to slide my card for a payment even though I told him I changed my mind. $40 was deducted from my bank account automatically. He then told me it would be reimbursed within two to three business days. I called Geico to explain to them that I was not in a rental and Geico told me that they had me in a rental. Geico is now calling them because I put a complaint in. I will not be returning to Enterprise ever again. read more

The service I received both when I picked up my car and left it was great. My husband arranged the rental and did not realize this Enterprise site was not at the airport. Because rentals from the airport are so much more expensive, I decided to take a cab to this Enterprise office. The cab ride was fast and cheap and the uber back to the airport was fast too. And the service at both ends was better than I could have imagined. Marlicia welcomed me, gave me water, and helped me through the process. A gracious man in full suit helped me return the cab and arrange quick service to the airport. I will definitely use this service again when I need to fly into the Newark airport. read more

Don't have many options. About a month ago while my car was in shop for repair my insurance provided me with a comp car through Enterprise. Their lot was bare. So I took a car I didn't really like and they said I could come back later in the week and could switch. When I came back first I was being helped by a gentleman then suddenly a very rude female associate, Melissa, said that no cars where available, thinking that I was there to pick up a rental not knowing I already had one, after I told her I already have a car and was told I could swap out to something more comfortable and a car I wanted was available the rude associate took over the computer from the gentleman that was taking care of me, she notified me that that car was actually for sale. My assumption is that being as though they literally just opened and she may have woke up on the wrong side of the bed it is unprofessional to allow customers to get that vibe from you. Other than that everyone else was very friendly. I originally was taken care of by one of the mangers Lindsay he was very pleasant and made the whole unfortunate situation go smoothly. Either way the main thing is they have no inventory, which is most likely because it is a high demand in the area. read more

This was a nightmare of an experience. The manager of this location was totally rude and unprofessional; someone who should not be dealing with the public. I will never do business with them ever again and certainly would not recommend this location to anyone. Unfortunately, the staff working at this location, were very courteous are professional and did their best to provide quality service. I enjoyed my experience with Enterprise. I have rented with them several times and look forward to future services with them. They always are courteous and fully explain their contracts. My only issue with them is that they are not open on Sunday which forces you to pay for an extra day even if you don't want to. read more

I agree with e'one who has had a bad experience at this location. The lady named Tyona at this location can really screw you up. I was 0.8 miles away from this location, where they said they would pick me up from. Instead, I had to wait for 40 mins and no one from enterprise showed up. Tyona/Tianna who I spoke to did not even answer any calls for 20 minutes when I kept calling to find out why no one was there to pick me up yet !!! 40 minutes later when she finally answered the phone, she said, her person might have gotten lost, then said she only had 2 people working and then said that I was lying about waiting 40 minutes !!!!! I had to re-arrange my schedule to work with their timings and STILL did not get a car the day I was promised. After a million phone calls to this location confirming my reservation, I am still without a car !!! How does it take someone 40 minutes to travel 0.8 miles ???? STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION and someone please drill some responsibility into Tyanna !!!! read more
