The people who work for Enterprise at 2540 Cohasset, are some of the nicest, helpful and generally happy people I have had the honor of doing business with. I rent frequently, and every time I use the Chico branch there is a long wait. Most recently, I had an 11:00 pickup reservation and waited over an hour. There appeared to be only two employees working, and the branch seemed understaffed. These repeated delays are unacceptable and have made the rental experience consistently frustrating. Just rented a car here last week and everyone who worked there was so nice and helpful and the car was fantastic . The only thing I would advise for other customers to know is that you may have to wait a while past your appointment to pick up your car, but these people are hustling and they are busy getting cars ready as soon as possible! So if you just plan for that and show up ahead of time when you're not in a rush it's fine, we waited almost an hour to get our car, and they must have been out of the type we originally reserved because we got a free upgrade, so that was a nice surprise! Enterprise Rent-A-Car - HYUN / ELAN - Car Rental Near Me - Chico, California

My experience with Enterprise was beyond unacceptable, if I could give 0/5 stars, I would. I had a confirmed 8:00 AM reservation and showed up on time, only to be told by Julio that there were no cars available. He mentioned that someone should have called me in advance, but I never received any call or notification. Apparently, other customers had extended their rentals, and despite my reservation, I was left without a vehicle. I explained to Julio that I had a family emergency in San Francisco involving a critically ill relative and needed to leave by 9:00 AM. Instead of showing urgency or professionalism, he made light of the situation, which was incredibly inappropriate and disrespectful. I had specifically reserved an SUV, but was offered a minivan or a large Mercedes van, neither of which fit my needs. I declined, and Julio told me to come back at 9:15, assuring me that a car should be available within the hour. When I returned at 9:15, I was told the exact same thing, no cars available, nothing guaranteed, and that I would need to wait another 1-2 hours. At that point, I left again, and he told me to wait for a call when a car became available. That call never came. By 11:00 AM--nothing. By 1:00 PM--still nothing. I finally called them myself, only to be told there were still no cars available. I never received a vehicle, never received a follow-up call, and never received any real solution. This was hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Completely disorganized, unprofessional, and unreliable, especially in a situation where timing actually mattered. I had an 8-passenger SUV reserved and confirmed two months in advance. My original pickup time was 10:00 AM, but I even moved it to 3:00 PM to give them extra time. When I arrived at 3:00, I was told the vehicle would be brought right out. After waiting an hour with no updates, I went back to the counter and was finally told they didn't have a vehicle for me at all. When I asked why no one told me this upfront, Julio said the employee who checked me in was new and "should have mentioned it." Instead of a solution, I was offered a 12-passenger commercial van, which did not meet our needs, or told to book two smaller cars. We specifically reserved an SUV for a reason. We had a tight schedule: driving to Sacramento (1.5 hours away) for a 6:00 PM dinner reservation and an 8:00 PM concert. Because of their delays and lack of communication, we missed dinner and were late to the concert. After three hours of waiting and back-and-forth, they finally provided an SUV at 6:15 PM. By then, the damage was already done. Throughout the process, we were met with excuses like "other customers extended their rentals" and even an attempt to blame me by saying my reservation was made that same day, which is completely false. It was made two months prior. Benny, the supervisor, eventually stepped in and resolved the issue, but it should never have taken three hours to fix something that should have been ready at pickup. Besides the added frustration from comments staff are likely trained by the company to regurgitate, the unfortunate part is it's not likely even an issue they can control if this is how Enterprise as a company chooses to run their business. They need to have better business policies. Don't take reservations for cars you don't have. It's that simple. At that point, you're not providing a service - you're taking business from companies who could actually deliver and leaving customers stranded last minute. Poor communication, disorganization, and a frustrating, condescending experience overall. I will not be using this location again. read more

Very bad customer service from a so called assistant manager Christine. This is the 3rd time she does this to us a big family traveling overseas and in need of a van , I did reserve the vehicle a month ago, but surprised by a call from Christine saying that she has no van for me and no other vehicle to replace it. This was absolutely the worst service I have ever had. I have never left a review before but I have to now. I had reservations for larger car to hold 4 adults and a wheelchair. I called two weeks in advance to confirm car pick up for 2:00 pm on April 15 even had text reminders. Called the day before to confirm again. Called the day of pick up and scheduled a ride to enterprise for 1:45 they never showed up. I had to call again stood outside waiting for 30 minutes got dropped off at enterprise checked in then waited for 4 1/2 hours. Wasn't offered water no one spoke to me couldn't get back home. Had special plans to take my 90 year old mom to a birthday party for her best friend of 66 years. I've rented cars there before it's not like I never rented a car before always returned my rentals full of gas clean and excellent shape every customer in the place was told they had to wait an hour or more too. The car is available about 15 minutes behind schedule though they offered a smaller car, passed. The car will take time to clean. The staff are polite. The car has worked fine though a maintenance needed soon alert appeared. Returning the car is simple. This location needs weekend hours other than 0900 to 1200 Saturdays. read more

We came to pick up a rental at the time they told us to, now they tell us they are so busy that the vehicle isn't ready yet & to come back in an hr & a half & they hope it will be ready. There are people standing waiting for vehicles that were supposed to be ready at 10 this morning but we're told to come back now. Hoping the car is waiting for them. I understand a company being busy but when THEY give you an appointment time to pick up a vehicle you expect to be able to get it at that time. But to show up on time & be told it will be hrs later till they will have it ready just isn't acceptable especially because you have plans to leave town in that vehicle that you made a reservation for a month in advance. This happened in Chico, CA at 2540 Cohasset Rd with Enterprise Rent a Car. My husband and I needed a car because our car has been in the mechanic for a couple of months. The dealership gave us the ability to get a rental car that was already paid for by the dealership. We took a county bus to a destination early in the morning. The trip became harder and less productive than it should have been. The bus ride was 2 hours long at 6:30 in the morning. We show up to the rental car business, and they started giving us a hard time. They decided that we had to jump through a bunch of hoops to rent the car initially. The day before we called them, and asked him what we needed to bring to rent the car. They said a driver's license and credit card. So we brought that. As soon as we started talking to customer service, their attitude began. They said I needed a driver's license because my real ID card was not able to be used for some reason. We had to get a ride to DMV. We had to sit in line for 2 hours, I got a driver's license, specifically for this. I paid $45 for a driver's license I didn't even need. We got back to Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and they proceeded to tell me I needed more proof of who I am. And that I'm not able to rent the car. After they received the proof of my driver's license, they told me I needed more proof in order to rent the car. The dealership where my car was, was who was renting the car for us. We had been walking for 3 months straight, miles a day, to go to stores, mailbox, bank, Etc. The dealership said I needed all this paperwork to prove who I am. And then they say they can't rent the car to us, because I don't have this proof. The proof entailed my disability award letter, PG&E bill, my insurance card, and more. Just to rent a car, mind you. We were defeated and were not able to rent the car. We ended up not having a way home. We had to stay in town for over a night. We both took medications and did not have our medications at that time. It was a very hard time. By this time, my husband was furious. It was a complete waste of time and money. No matter what we did, they still did not rent the car to us. Even though the car dealership was the one that rented it. At that point, we were extremely frustrated and angry for what they put us through. And we never got the car. It was an awful situation. I had a reservation for 2:pm they said it would be a couple hour wait because the system over booked. Because that makes sense, I guess the "system" doesn't get told what cars are and are not available at what times. Because that would be impossible. Then I went home and called back two hours later, still no. They close at 6 so I brought that up and they said I was guaranteed to get a car today even after they close that I would get a call. It's now 8:15 still no call. And they're closed so they're not answering. I have no car work 20 minutes away= 50$ Uber. 100% the worst experience. I was in a minor accident. Made an appt with a local body shop and coordinated said appointment with Enterprise. Three weeks out. Day of appt, I was stuck waiting at the body shop for the Enterprise shuttle for 40 mins. The body shop felt so bad they were going to personally drive me but Enterprise finally showed up at 4:10. My appointment was at 3:30. Get to Enterprise and was told it was still going to be an additional hour wait. Why do an appointment? I have a new baby which requires a lot of coordination of child care in addition to having to leave work and then sit here for hours. It's now 5 pm and I STILL don't have a car. I just wanted to say WOW ! The level of professionalism and customer service Enterprise had was amazing. Originally, my car broke down . I had blown out my engine and it was getting replaced by Hyundai, in which I needed a rental . I looked at the previous reviews and was skeptical, however I'm a strong believer of "Don't judge a book by its cover" and I'm sooo glad I tried them out . I had a rental from November 28-December 22 , 2022 and let me just say this now ; Fernando was top tier . He took care of my husband and I and really attended our needs . We were originally in a Kia Soul, which was a good car but too tiny for our liking and we upgraded to a Toyota Highlander with no problem . He made sure we were comfortable and confident in what we got . He definitely understood his job assignment! I would highly recommend going to them for any future car rentals ! I totaled my car roughly a week ago. My insurance told me to contact Enterprise to see what they can do. With a crack bone in my collar, 3 cracked ribs and a cracked bone in my hip. Enterprise was there for me. I was able to get a rental and back on the road and fortunately was able to get a new car while still waiting on my insurance and gap insurance. This last week my reservation was for 1:00. I didn't get the car even though I checked in before 1:00 , until 1:30. After I checked in I was ignored until I stepped up and asked about the car. So this place. SMH.... It started out decent with Enterprise when my car was stolen and my insurance used them to provide a rental. My insurance company took longer than promised to resolve the situation and so I ended up keeping the car additional days. I was in contact with enterprise the entire time and had even spoken to them on the day before "the incident" and it was smiles and hugs with them. Fake smiles apparently. Also, on a side note, when I called them to speak about my rental I literally sat on the phone for SIX hours (see attached pic) one day trying to get through on hold. I can quote their hold message word for word if asked in some bizzaro game of jeopardy. This was two before thanksgiving, so I'm sure they were busy, but six hours? And I'm not communicating properly with them? Are you serious? So then hours before thanks giving they crept up to my house like a thief in the night, threw a business card at the ground in front of my door, and ran like cowards taking the car. Over something like a 100$ bill I fully admit needed to be paid, however, see previous statement about sitting on hold for almost an entire workday and these quality employees could not find time to answer AND TAKE THE PAYMENT... one time. It's a joke of a company when it comes to customer service basics. They are nice enough. But completely incompetent. And also flat out cowards. Just saying. Literally spoke to them right before this happened, and they didn't say "hey we need to resolve this today or you are going to get your second car stolen this month. They day of the holiday". I called around and Chico Enterprise said they had cars for rent. They took all my information and reserved a car for me. I got the email confirmation and had a tow truck pick up my downed car, on the way to taking my car to their yard the tow driver agreed to take me to enterprise to get my rental. I show up to enterprise to get my rental. The same one they gave me a confirmation for, and they flat out told me they had no cars but I could be put on a wait list!! Wtf!! Why would I be on a wait list, I was told they had cars and reserved one with them. I showed them the email confirmation and they said that they do that all the time. The manager their told me that the customer service team takes reservations all the time without even knowing if enterprise even HAS ANY CARS!! what is the point of a reservation if you get one but it don't matter because you have to walk in the building and ask them?! Seriously. This is how you do business. As I was there more people were walking in the door for cars. I my self have a dam tow truck with me and no where to go. The manager was HORRIBLE!!! The employees worthless. He then said he would shuttle me to another of their locations that had cars. I said ok. Their Redding location had cars. I said ok I'll go their, he then says that's actually too far and he ain't going to have anyone waste their time taking me that far. Lol!! Wow!!! I had a reservation to pick up a rental car today. They refused to rent to me because I had renewed my driver's license before I made the trip to California and wouldn't take my paper ID NOR my original driver's license, which was still valid, because the DMV in Texas cut the corner off the license. This wasn't an issue at the Sacramento Airport Enterprise. I rented the car there, with my paper license and cut DL. I returned THAT car to the Chico Enterprise a couple of weeks ago and made the reservation to pick up another car today, showing them my DL. No problem at that time but today it was an issue. The staff at Chico could not tell me why the same company had different policies. I won't be renting from the Chico Enterprise nor will I rent from any other Enterprise. Avis now has my business because when I left the Chico Enterprise, I went directly to Avis/Budget and they had no problems renting a car to me. read more
