These people really took advantage of my vulnerability after my car was totaled, I was injured, and no approved rental place had cars. They seem nice at first but get really rude if you confront them. They charged $75 a day even after I cancelled insurance and went with the cheapest car on the lot Hope you don't end up like me with insurance that will only offer you places that have no cars. Avis/Budget clearly knows this and takes advantage of it. I had to keep asking over and over for an invoice that was legible to send to nsurance company. Had they done that, I sure I would have noticed their ridiculous fees for a striped down Toyota Corolla. Not honest or ethical at all! read more

Very difficult to find the location. Google Maps points to the middle of the mall, this is the businesses owness to update / fix. There is no visual indication outside of the mall of the Avis location or where to park their cars to return. I spent 25 minutes looking for the business. read more

Racist Indian man working the counter. Had another girl in tears because he was doing everything he possibly could to not rent to her. I am a Presidential member of Avis. My credit card has my name, as it appears on my license and my business name. Would not rent the car to me even though he can visibly see this. Says the system says no. Newer cars at this location, I rented a v6 mustang the lady at the desk was nice and prosessed my info quickly. The first thing I noticed after waiting for them to clean the car for me to take was that the car was dirty inside and out. And it smelled weird. There were water spots on the outside so bad I couldn't see when the sun hit them. The inside rear windows were smeared with something I'm not sure what. The car drove good though. Customer service is great at this Avis location. I am one that is quick to give praise when deserved, but also quick to offer criticism when my custom experience isn't on par with my expectations. This Avis location offered the best customer service experience I think I've ever had at a rental car agency. I travel frequently and am no stranger to rental cars. Typically, you're rushed through the process with no personality of any kind. While speed is a virtue in a business like this, it simply MUST come with attention to the consumer. I am happy to report that the Chico Mall Avis wins on all accounts. The person running this location is a tremendous guy that epitomizes the American dream. We just had the worst service possible. The car was dirty inside and out. When asked for cleaning supplies so we could clean it ourselves, we were told they don't have cleaning supplies, only a vacuum! What? But, "it's been sanitized". What? We cleaned it at home. My husband booked a car when he went for a job interveiw. He was denied a car because he didnt have a credit card. So they were supposed to refund the prepaid money. It has been over a month and now they tell us that they sent it to the wrong department and have strong us along for the last 3 phone calls. I will never recommend this crap service again. TWICE, I waited for nearly a half hour before someone showed up to assist me. Same guy both times. Now, my travel plans require me to drop off the rental car after hours. No-can-do! While I don't have that requirement very often, it seems lame that you can't arrange for after-hours drop off. This location is probably a one-man shop, in a Sears store that is slowly dying. Terrible customer service from the "owner" Troy. I went to drop off my rental car at 10:50am, only to find the door locked and a hand written note indicating, "went to get and oil change on a car, be back shortly." No time indicating when it was written. No cell number to contact and let him know that two customers were waiting to return their cars. He finally showed up at 11:40. No apology, no sense of inconveniencing a customer or two. I clearly was held hostage to his return, as I had a drop off deadline off noon. I picked up a car on 8/15/18 to go to SoCa. I got there; however, the car died and when I called emergency services, I was told I had to pay for a jump as I did not pay for the repair insurance. What?! Once it was started, I drove the vehicle around for 20 min then stopped at my friends. The only thing when I went to leave, the car was dead again. After 12 phone calls to emergency services and 5.5 hrs later, the tow truck came to exchange the vehicle with another. I was also calling the tow truck driver who was actually only a few miles from me, except I was given MANY excuses as to why they were not there. I was livid! I returned the 2nd vehicle on Wed, 8/22/18 and was told by the owners that I would be credited for one day! But, of course, when I got my e-bill I was charged full price. I called the owner and he said he didn't mean that. WTH? Will I ever use Avis again? Definitely not!!! Terrible service all the way around! read more

I rented a car online and since it was a same day, pickup I called to confirm. I was told they don't have any cars in the correct size. He assured me he would have a car ready for me. I showed up early and he had a larger, much better car and gave me the upgrade for the same price. I appreciated how he explained the different insurances an option they have, but was not forceful like many others have been in the past. We walked around the car, did the paperwork and i was done before my reserved time. I also appreciated how he kind, fun and friendly through the whole process, but also fast and efficient. I can't see many ways to stand out renting cars, but the customer service was significantly different enough from other local businesses that I will be a loyal customer. read more

DO not go here! It was one of the worst car rental experiences i have had. To start, i get the car and it is filthy. I go inside to complain and the guy just says "don't worry, just bring it back in the same condition". I was floored. You expect me to rent a car and pay to drive it with trash in it? I asked if i could rent a different car and he told me that was the only one in my price range but i could upgrade to a Tahoe. I needed a small car to drive to Oregon in with one other person. Why would I need a huge SUV?? Then he offered I rent a minivan. Seriously? You want me to pay 4 times as much just so you wouldn't have to clean or service the car!?!?
