Really really good food but im not big on the atmosphere, extremely friendly staff but after reading other reviews im assuming most of their money is made from catering. Which id still consider just dont want to stay and eat again read more

Small family owned cafe serving up some real good smoked meats lunch specials and super yummy desserts. The staff is really nice and friendly. The food is full of flavor and you can tell it's all homemade. The tri-tip and banana pudding are my top favorites but I really like everything. They close at 2:30pm and closed entirely on Mondays so come early because the lunch lines tends to be long if you don't have a phone in order but it's well worth the wait. If you work in the area and haven't tried this place you are truly missing out! read more

Been to Englunds cafe twice the first time I ordered a Cesar chicken wrap let me just say the thing is HUGE the size of a burrito all though the ingredients are fairly simple I found that they over do it on the cheesy Caesar dressing and the extra Parmesan cheese next time I think I'll ask for no cheese and easy on the dressing other than that it was pretty good. My second visit consisted of a tri tip sandwich the tri tip was soft and not very flavorful definitely not amazing like a lot if reviews say it is but not to bad just lacking a little more flavor. I must admit that the only reason why I went in a second time was to try there strawberry short cake but they were out so I gave the banana pudding a try it was also okay they could of added more cookies if you ask me. Over all my experience was fair the ladies working the register seem okay not to friendly but not rude maybe if they treated "others" the same way they treat the business men who work in the area with the same customer service etiquette I would of added an extra star. read more

Englund's came as a recommended caterer for our venue (the gardens at heather farm), and they did a phenomenal job with our wedding. From our very first meeting, Derry was very accommodating: we did our complimentary tasting late after dinner, and we knew that their food is fantastic. Our final menu had the the salmon and tri-tip, and the salmon was cooked perfectly (not overcooked and dry). The cream that comes with the fresh fruit is also delicious. And the most important thing is that the food actually served at the wedding was just as good. Derry has a laid back, friendly, California attitude about him, and he's as genuine and easy to work with as he seems. He was very knowledgeable about general wedding planning and specifics about our venue. Their pricing policy is transparent, and they are flexible in all respects. In fact, Derry pitched us ideas that he thought would work better that were actually cheaper for us than our ideas, so he really put us first. From the time that you sign the invoice until about 2 weeks before the wedding to finalize details, you can trust that things are fine and that Derry will have things ready for you without needing to bug him. The wedding day itself was very easy, and everything went great. There was one minor clarification that they had to ask us about when we were planning to do the champagne toast and when they needed to pour, but they were totally accommodating and took care of everything seamlessly otherwise. Our guests loved the food, the buffet was efficient, and we didn't notice any issues with the service or cleanup. I would absolutely recommend Derry for any event. read more

My job always orders food from here for events and meetings. The last thing I had was a really dry and unseasoned chicken breast sandwich. I want to be able to give all 5's so maybe I just need to go on my own time instead of just basing my review off of what my job preorders. read more

Englund's has catered a number of events for our organization and they have been a pleasure to work with. Service is exceptional and food is always delicious. I especially like coming in for lunch because for less than a Subway 6" you can get a tasty half sandwich that will fill you up! I am personally fond of the half chicken salad sandwich. read more

Love love this place. Best salads in town. And they have the greatest banana pudding and cheesecakes. I've pretty much tried everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. I work down the street so I'm there everyday. The price is great! And the food is amazing and flavorful. Can't go wrong with this place! The staff is also nice! This is a must try! read more

Absolutely wonderful with one exception, they are in the same building as I am ( I just have my pay check direct deposited to them ) I love the TRI-tip, I have them slice it thin mmmm. Salads are very good and very BIG, George would be proud... read more

I have been a fan of Derry's for years. When I got engaged I knew there was no one else I wanted to cater my wedding. Derry's menu is delicious and versatile for all occasions. Prior to and since my wedding I have frequented Englund's Catering and without fail he always follows through. Not only is his food delicious but his displays are beautiful and he always makes sure he has plenty of food for the event. Recently I had a staff event that I needed to cater with a very strict budget. Derry was incredibly helpful in assisting me with this goal. My staff were well fed and delighted by his hard work. read more

This is a review for Englund's Catering. For about the 10th time, I hired this wonderful company for an event. And, like all the other times, they did not disappoint. They really are a marvel - they come in and set the serving tables with linens and floral arrangements, meanwhile others are prepping in the kitchen and in a remarkably short time, it is all ready. We had 250+ and they set up 4 lines plus carving stations and, with staff constantly replenishing, served everyone in about 35 minutes. They kept the stations open long enough for those who might still be hungry to come back for seconds, and then whisked it all away to set up dessert. Throughout the whole service the crew chief checked in with me on timing, satisfaction, etc. The food is delicious (tri-tip so tender, salmon perfectly cooked with an optional delicious dill sauce, and the scalloped potatoes (wow). So many attendees made it a point to compliment the meal. The band even gave them a shout-out from the stage to wild applause. We have already reserved them for 4 events next year, both outdoor bbqs and more formal nside affair. Aside from the quality of the food, the efficiency of the staff, the best part, for me as an event organizer, is that once I hire Englund's I simply don;t even need to think about the food service - it will be perfect (and delicious) with no effort on my part whatsoever. .Thank you Derry, Brian and crew for another wildly successful event! read more

Englund's Tri-tip is the best around! Derry (the owner) is the stuff from which legends are made.

Love it! I've been stopping in here every couple of weeks for about 10 years. Friendly staff, quick service, fresh food, and delicious! Parking can be hard to find, but that's only because there is now a huge office building across from them. It wasn't always that way. Not their fault. read more

Awesome sandwiches. Their tri-tp puts Kinder's to shame, although I have been told they are somehow connected. They are a great place to go for a sandwich. Their catering is awesome too. If you are looking for variety at lunch, then move along. If you are looking for a great tri-tip sandwich, then welcome to Englund's. read more

Fantastic customer service by the ladies behind the counter. Seating is a bit limited for those people wishing to eat-in. The food is always top notch for this variety, with generous portions. The prices are a bit steep though, even given the quality of the food, and can quickly approach $10-12 if you aren't very selective. Bare in mind, that they are closed on Mondays. read more

We were excited when our wedding venue provided us the list of approved caterers and Englund's was listed. The food is so delicious and the prices are reasonable and there were no hidden charges. All prices on their website and what Derry walks you through is exactly what you will pay. Kids are half off and don't forget to ask above vendor meals, as they are discounted as well. We went for the full wedding package and were so impressed. The tasting with Derry was great and we felt confident in our choices, and we were right! Our guests raved about the food and still do! The linen colors we chose of navy blue tablecloths and silver napkins looked just like the samples Derry had shown us. Derry provided me with an estimate of how much alcohol to order based on our headcount and he was spot on. It was great having Derry on site at our wedding to ensure everything ran smoothly and the food came out at the perfect time and hot. We had a few wedding guests with lactose intolerances, but I notified Derry beforehand and he hand delivered plates to those guests and they said they've never felt so comfortable eating at a wedding, knowing that they were taken care of. Their tri-tip and potatoes au-gratin are unbelievable! Derry is VERY busy with his café and special events and I would recommend calling and/or texting him with any questions you may have versus e-mail. I would definitely recommend Derry for your wedding or any sort of special event. read more

First time here. I came here based on previous pics & comments. It's tuff to compare anything to Kinder's BUT, the Tri-Tip sandwich here is amazing. Personally I do not like stingy portions of meat. That is not a problem here. One half of they're sandwich will usually be all the meat in the 'other guys' sandwich. I'm Definitely be coming here again! read more

This was a cute little spot went there for a friends birthday this past weekend, i've always kinda avoided the place seemed a bit too pricey. I was pleasantly surprised though. I loved the menu choices, I settled on the crustless bacon and cheese quiche which was great but my only complaint is that for about $10 I was really hoping for more, everyone in my group also commented on how tiny it was. The service was great the cook messed up and put my hollandaise sauce on top when I asked for it on the side but oh well. Maybe next time i'll try the bbq although the desserts looked really yummy too. read more

came here for lunch. Tried the Tri-Tip sandwich. Wow!!! Tender meat. Tasty dry rub. Bread was fresh. Service was great.

wow, 10 years ago I was a regular staple at Englund's. Job moved me to a different city, so I didn't eat it anymore. Now I'm back working in Concord,,you know I had to check them out. They are still POPPING,,,,,, Good as they were 12 years ago. The Tri Tip is still the favorite, but I ventured off the path and tried the Pork Lion sandwich. scrumptious,,well cooked, meat was very tender and succulent and tasteful. The food taste, and has the vibe of something you would cook at home. The service is great, real nice group of people...... read more

Fast and fresh lunch items! Prices are great too. Homemade soups to die for.

Derry and crew did our wedding August 2014 for 120 people. Everything went smoothly and the food was outstanding. Everyone was talking about how good the food was. We used Derry for our 2-10-18 catering at Deer Park Villa in Fairfax, CA. He was kind, flexible, clam, patient, and overall wonderful! We knew his food was delicious when we went to his cafe in Concord and did a tasting, but we repeatedly heard from our wedding guests that this was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. He was very professional and knew how to set up the buffet so it went efficiently. His salmon and tri-tip was SO delicious. I hope to use him again for other catering jobs I have through my work or for any occasion in my life. Amazing. You won't be disappointing. Thank you Derry for being a part of Kevin and my big day. You helped make our wedding incredible and we keep hearing compliments about you from our guests! read more

Englund's is on point! We used Englund's services for our wedding last weekend and could not be happier. As part of their service you may enjoy a one hour tasting at their location. It is a small spot, but you don't need a lot of space to put yummy food in your face. My fiance (at the time) and I enjoyed our tasting very much. The chicken was perfect, the tri tip was sooooo juicy (horse radish, yum), and the sides were delicious as well. On the car ride home we decided we would use this vendor for our wedding. It was the first place we tasted food at! No need to look further for great prices and delicious food. A few additional tidbits: - Derry was very responsive with calls and text messages - Derry is knowledgeable about venues, venue layouts, and has helpful tips - The food was delicious and remained the temperature that is should all night! - I mentioned I had 2 friends who were Vegan and he put together a plate for each of them and set it aside so they could enjoy a meal as well (they were so grateful!) - The catering and bar tending staff was friendly - They provided extra tables and table clothes - Venue garbage removal can be added for a small fee - The set up for the buffet was beautiful and came with flowers - We received bonus sandwiches when we dropped off our wine for storage and transport - We received bonus sandwiches for the morning after the wedding with a lovely note - We over ordered and did not end up with additional tri tip because guests kept going back for more! - It's been a week and I'm still receiving calls and text messages about how delicious the food was and hearing things such as, "I haven't been to a wedding with good food in a long time." We will be using Englund's Cafe & Catering in the future! read more

Derry is the BEST! Derry has catered two events for me in the past few months for 300 plus people, one of which was my wedding. Derry is the most pleasant person ever. He works with your budget-he works with you-and the food is great. We had so many compliments for both events on the food, which is VERY good. Additionally, Derry and his staff are incredibly friendly to work with. I recommend Derry to any and everyone for their event! (P.S. The chicken deli sandwich at the cafe is the best I have ever had.) read more

Derry and his staff are incredible! Their food is as exceptional as their service. For the past several years Englunds has catered our corporate employee lunch for over 2,500 people on several campuses and they do a fantastic job! They go above and beyond the call of duty. Englund's is a company that goes above the expectations that you set for them. My wife and hired them for our wedding reception and their customer service was above and beyond. The food was delicious, melt in your mouth, amazing. I loved that they came and found the bridal party down where we were taking pictures to make sure we didn't miss out on any of the appetizers. Englund's has a true passion for catering and we would higher them again in a second. Thanks for making the day go by so smooth. Great food and service. I try and get off work early every day just so I can make it before they close at 2:30. I just finished eating a whole tri-tip sandwich. I knew I was full halfway through the sandwich but I couldn't stop because it was so good. The french roll was nice and soft, the tri-tip was tender and cooked perfectly, and their BBQ sauce was delicious. The sauce was the right mix of spicy and sweet and I HATE BBQ sauce on sandwiches. I wish they were open for dinner so I can go back for another sandwich later. Oh well, I know where I'll be for lunch tomorrow. read more
