Update following the company's response:…read more I want to clarify one point raised in the owner's reply so readers understand the concern accurately. Yes, I mentioned that I would prefer the panels be placed on the rear of the home if possible. That was simply an aesthetic preference and not a design requirement. I relied on the company's expertise to determine whether that placement would still allow the system to reasonably meet the goals discussed during the sales process. I also want to be clear that the system functioning is not the issue. We appear to agree that the equipment is producing energy as designed. The production numbers themselves have never been what I questioned. The concern I raised relates to how the system size and expectations were presented during the sales process. When we explored going solar, the conversations centered around offsetting most or all of our electric bill, which was the primary reason we decided to move forward with a $20,000 installation. If it had been clearly communicated that the system was intended to be a smaller "starter system" that would only offset a portion of our electricity usage, we likely would have approached the decision differently or waited until we had a longer utility history available. Another important point is that no written proposal or modeling documentation outlining the assumed household usage or projected offset was ever provided prior to signing. Because those design assumptions were never shared with us in writing, it has been difficult to understand how the system size was determined relative to our expected energy needs. As a result, we are now paying a monthly solar loan while still carrying a meaningful electric bill, which is not the outcome we understood or expected when making this investment. At this point, I have shared my experience and clarified the concerns raised. I do not intend to continue a public back-and-forth discussion on this review. My purpose in posting this update is simply to provide context so other homeowners researching solar know to request clear written modeling and offset assumptions before making a significant investment.

For those of you that don't like to read a lot, here is the short version…read more.. You should look no further than A&R Solar for your solar needs. This is a fantastic organization with fabulous staff. Okay, here's more, if you are so inclined to read... Adding solar power is no small investment. Therefore, you should want to have the best information available when considering solar power. Solar is clearly a great way to go, both in terms of being friendly to the environment, and the savings that you can see in your energy costs in the future. Because the decision is so important, you will want the most knowledgeable and most professional people to provide you with every bit of accurate information so that you can make the most informed decision. The entire staff at A&R Solar are exactly what I've described above. They are professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and patient. I love how great they are about always getting back to me when I have another question. I have had direct communication with Jesse, Michael, Jen, and Karen. All were fantastic. I'm certain that these four are simply an example of how great the rest of their staff are. I wholeheartedly recommend A&R Solar. I would look no further than this fine organization for my solar questions and needs.

A and R sent their sales person to our house and he got right to work. He went into our crawl space under the roof to make sure our roof was properly supported for the panels. That was a relief as the other place wanted to send a structural engineer to do that very simple job and charge us for it. Ridiculous. Our project was two years, so the crew may be slightly different, but they were great. When there was an issue, like that we didn't have electrical grounding, they just put in grounding bars. Amazing! They offer production guarantees which is rare for a solar company, like those ones that come door to door. lol A and R was professional, easy to work with and easy to communicate with. Good job team!

Elemental Energy has been outstanding in post customer care. In the eight years since I've had my system, I've only had two issues which were properly taken care of. The project manager in 2008 was absolutely awful. Poor communication and someone quit so my project got pushed to no-man zone- no one was taking care of my project or communicating clearly about what was going on. I didn't write a review in 2008 because I was upset about the process. However, eight years later, the install is absolutely fantastic and the product has held up really well. Plus the person who was so awful is likely gone so thinking you'll have a better experience than I did. I'm getting quotes on battery and they are the first person I called

However, when the project was completed, the 19th panel was placed near the back of the house, which is shaded by tall fir trees. We could have gotten better results, albeit the difference is not particularly great. If they had installed the panels as we had indicated, I would give them 5 stars. As it is, during the summer months, we are producing enough electricity to send it back into the grid for a small credit on our PGE bill.

The owner, Chet, conducted an on-site assessment and was extremely honest and knowledgeable. Chris, the designer, was incredibly patient, explaining everything in detail and even reviewing other quotes I received, offering his candid feedback. I spoke with several leading providers in Portland, but Sunpath earned my trust through their transparency. Maggie, the project manager, was a delight and efficiently scheduled everything. The crew arrived early today and completed the installation before dawn, and I couldn't be happier! They did an outstanding job. Special thanks to Johnathan and Kordon, the lead installer, who explained everything thoroughly, and to the technician, Keven, for his excellent work. Beware, this company doesn't show up to do work and disappears with your deposit money…read more For our Portland area project to install a whole-home Generac generator, Eric Bryant promised us a firm installation date in return for a large deposit, which we paid. Eric never showed up, then kept making excuses about being busy and promising to be in touch soon, then stopped answering altogether and kept our deposit despite that he has done no work at all. Bryant took a large deposit from us for a Generac installation that was supposed to be completed by a specific, not estimated, date. He then effectively disappeared. We made multiple attempts to contact him for updates on the installation but were repeatedly ignored; when he DID finally answer us, he provided no concrete information about our installation. Bryant may respond to this review by claiming he was seriously injured in an automobile accident which made it impossible for him to keep a work schedule. However, Bryant failed to meet the firm installation schedule provided in our agreement BEFORE his claimed accident. It also is important to note that Bryant apparently went on vacation BEFORE the accident and as the deadline for our installation neared.
