The two other people in the home, heard it as well. The over the garage was not insulated. Now I understand, that I should have checked before I left the other review. That's on me. I shouldn't have taken anyone else's word, and I should have gotten the ladder and looked. When I texted the man who came here, I was told yes "no, it only includes over living space". We accepted the "BEST" option that was recommended by Casey Moran to transform our attic. The difference is already evident with the addition of insulation, the radiant barrier, ductwork and a solar attic fan. The pictures speak volumes! I noticed an immediate difference in the airflow to the front bedroom, where we could not keep up with the direct sun for almost the entire day! Chances are if you live in an older home not built up to today's building codes, and even if you do, the insulation & ventilation in your attic may not be up to par with the current standards. My home was built in the late '70s, and the previous homeowners did nothing to rid the home of its original rockwhool insulation. The minuscule 6-8" of insulation that was once in my attic was ridden with rodent feces/urine, turning to dust, and wasn't as effective as it once was. This not only caused my home to have imbalanced heating/cooling, but also strained my HVAC system, making it work significantly harder than it otherwise would. Combine the lack of insulation with improper ventilation, and you set yourself up for a home that's not comfortable to live in, while in the process of taking precious dollars away from your pocket, all due to increased electric/gas bills. I called Energy Attic back in 2019 to see what they had to say about my attic, and they came out to do an energy audit. They filled me in on everything that was wrong, and what I could do to fix it. The estimate they provided was very insightful, breaking down the cost of every service, and allowing you as a homeowner to do what's best for your house and pocketbook. At the time I was unable to afford the job, so I decided to hold off on the project. Fast forward to early 2022, I gave them yet another call, and due to a mishap in getting the square footage of my home incorrect (was overestimated due to some vaulted ceilings), we decided to have them come back out to my house to give things a look. They left a mess and I continue to have particles of something (I assume insulation, new and old that got in ducts?) coming out of my vents, on the floor- and it's been nearly six months since their workers came out to install insulation! They tried to make it right by having my carpet cleaned, but that does not change the careless job done and ongoing concern for my family's health! Our house was built in 1979 and literally had only the nasty remnants of the original insulation, and who knows what else. Last year Energy Attic came out to provide an estimate for removal of the old, replacing with new insulation and potentially a radiant barrier. They took photos all throughout the attic that they shared with the estimate. The estimate was provided through their portal and included a very clear breakdown of different options and costs for each. At the time, we had some unexpected life events occur, and we put this on the back burner. Last week, I dug up the old email with the link to the original estimate, and to my surprise, I was still able to access the original information that was provided! I reached out to move forward with the project and rec'd a prompt response. They explained that there was a slight change to material costs (totally understandable and expected), but it was still a reasonable estimate. We were on the schedule for a week following, but they were able to pull the date in when they rec'd a cancellation. The team arrived at the promised date/time and did a full clean out and sanitation of our attic, sealed any holes and filled with 12 inches of new insulation. We can literally FEEL the difference in the air quality in our home. The payment process was simple and all via the portal. The only interaction with the team was when they notified me that they arrived and would be entering the attic. After the work was completed, we checked out the attic and it was a whole new world of fluffy insulation with a measuring stick to easily see that they completed the work to the standard conveyed. Energy Attic re-insulated my 25 year old attic, but thats a misnomer as they do so much more than that! Andrew comes first and does a assessment on the best course of action to improve your attic. He was professional and very courteous as he explained that the he recommended the following: 1. Vacuuming all the existing insulation from the attic. 2. Sealing all ceiling air leakages (fan, light, bathroom fans, etc) 3. Attic disinfection because of pests 4. Installation of soffit baffles (not required when my house was built but very important) 5. Blown in r49 insulation 6. Installation of damper to even out cold master bathroom in winter 7. Installation of turtle vent on unvented side of house I accepted all recommendations and a few days later the install team directed by Paco show up exactly at the appointed time. They were very considerate of the home as they worked tirelessly on all the install items and after they left I could not even tell that they had been there. What a difference in the house after the installation. The HVAC hardly turns on any more and the whole house just feels "friendlier" (don't now how to describe it better). After that experience, I decided to use Energy Attic as my HVAC maintenance company. Again, Andrew came but I threw a curve ball at him by surprising him with 2 IWave-r units (great home air quality devices) that I wanted him to install in addition to checking out the HVAC system. So far I've had a great experience with Energy Attic! My wife and I were interested in improving our attic insulation levels as well as getting a radiant barrier installed, as we used to have large trees that would shield our roof, but we had them removed and summer was coming. The entire process from sales to service was very easy, clean, and honest. When we did the initial RFQ, they got back to me crazy fast and had someone out to see me very soon. Everyone was very friendly and honest, particularly the sales rep. There is a LOT to be said just for liking the people that you're interacting with during a process like this. As stated, our sales rep was great and thankfully each of the technicians did great work and did it all in one day. The job took longer than they anticipated because our dang ceiling has lots of big coffers that make it difficult to crawl around up there (one BIG reason I didn't want to do this myself). All in all, the job was pricey upfront, but well worth the peace of mind if you're looking to do it. So far this summer (at least in the month of June), we saw our AC usage go down by 100 hours from 183 hours in June 2018 to 82 hours in June 2019. WOW. In July compared to last year we don't seem to have seen quite as big of a drop but sometimes it's just HOT, folks. Another fun fact is that I did a test with an IR thermometer before and after the install on two similarly hot days and the attic temperature dropped ~30 degrees! Before it got MUCH hotter than ambient outside temperature and so far for me, it's basically stuck at around ambient temperature. I like keeping our Christmas stuff in the attic, so I enjoy knowing that my kids' handmade ornaments won't completely melt into a Picasso every summer! The elephant in the room for many of these reviews is that unless you are paying an exorbitant amount for your heating and cooling already, you're not going to see an especially large drop in your energy cost in absolute terms, but you will see a drop, and your temperatures will be much more stable. Your temperatures will be CONSIDERABLY more bearable in the attic should you choose to go up there in the summer for some reason. Do you still need to run your HVAC in the summer? Unfortunately yes, even just to get rid of humidity in the house. The new insulation has helped with temperature, and there were days in early summer where the temp was where we wanted but we still had to run the AC due to humidity. I think we would be using our system even less if humidity wasn't a factor. Still glad I got the insulation though as I think this will actually be a bigger benefit for us when temperatures drop after Halloween. TL;DR: I happen to not pay an arm and a leg for electricity in general but I'm happy that I got the insulation done, so I'll leave you with this: 1. Will the job pay for itself? No, not for quite a long time. 2. Will the job reduce your heating and cooling costs? Yes. 3. Will the job normalize the temp in your attic in particular? Yes. A LOT. 4. Is it better for all of us to have better insulated homes, especially in North Texas? Absolutely. 5. Would I have ever wanted to do this job myself? Not at all. 6. Did these guys do an amazing job? Absolutely. 7. Would I recommend them and use them again? Absolutely. 8. Sometimes, it's just that hot, folks, and you've gotta run the air no matter how much insulation you have in your attic! But your HVAC system will thank you that it's not getting blasted by 130 degree attic temp anymore! *Steps on soapbox* One HUGE caveat to all this is that their $500 off for $5500 coupon on Yelp was not fully honored. I had to chase it down and we eventually settled for less than that. I totally understand if the offer is no longer valid, but if that's the case, it needs to be taken off of the Yelp business page since this page drives so much of your business. *Steps off soapbox* Thanks, Energy Attic! Made an appointment last week to have them come out at 8am today (Friday). It was the appointment day and time THEY suggested. At 8:20am (20 minutes after they were supposed to be here) they call and say they can't make it and that 'they tried calling all day yesterday but my phone was going to voicemail yet never left a voicemail. WE HAVE JOBS and KIDS and people have to rearrange schedules to make these appointments happen. Energy Attic is a failure. What a ridiculous waste of everyone's time. These guys are amazing to work with! Their customer service is really what drew me to them. Not only were they polite and responsive from the get-go, but they're also NOT those creepy overly pushy sales people that drive you crazy. I had Bradley come out as the guy who checked out my attic and he's fantastic (highly recommend if you can request him). Not only was he friendly, but he seriously knows his stuff, and didn't complain at all about crawling in my dirty 135* attic. He broke down my options without any of the pushy sales stuff that irritates me so much, and let me review what he'd given me. When the office called I was able to discuss my options and move forward with what I wanted! While my actual AC unit is still too small for the house (next year!) I received bids from a few places but felt the customer service and overall value was a win with this company. Ryan gave me a few options and pointed out the skylights needed the batt insulation replaced. They were priced competitively and scheduled the install within a week of me accepting the bid. Our attic was in desperate need of insulation and only had between 3-4 inches overall. They added 14" (formaldehyde free) to being me above code, but to the Dept. of Energy standards. I even had them add Radiant Barrier foil - which is a more efficient solution than the paint version. The appointment (email) was set to start at 7:30-8am, but didn't arrive until 10. I think there may have been a mistake made at the office. Either way, the guys did a great job. My GF was the one waiting at home and she did not feel uncomfortable with the crew. They were polite and she felt safe. They were mindful of our dog and did a walk thru before and after to ensure there was no damage to our ceiling. During the install process, they added light can covers, baffles and cleaned the soffit vents. They recommended a solar vent fan initially, but for my budget needs, we opted for an additional turbine. Overall we are very satisfied. We felt a noticeable difference in comfort. Considering it's currently cold here in Texas, the heater has not had to run as much. Some areas that had inconsistent temps feel better balanced and the house does not sound as echoee (is that even a word?). They didn't leave a mess and Ryan even followed up to make sure we were happy. if I could rewind time, I'd still choose them. We are ready for some Texas heat! read more

I didn't have the best experience which could have been a fluke. Tyler came out to my house and did an assessment. He followed up a month later and decided to move forward. When I called to pay the deposit and book the service, I was told they would be coming out on Friday at 8:30 - 9:30 am. No one ever showed up. I called the office and they rescheduled me to Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 am. No one showed up this time either. Both times we had arrangements, childcare, etc to be home and no one ever showed up. Then I reached out to Tyler again Saturday at lunch because the office was closed. He told me he would call me back in a few minutes and never heard back from him. It wasn't the best experience as we made arrangements for them to come out as scheduled and they never showed multiple times. read more

So this has been a very hot summer here in TX and my AC was having issues keeping my house at 72 degrees. I knew my attic was likely the issue (AC/Ducts/High Temps don't make for efficiency). I had an inspection done and moved forward with a radiant barrier and increasing my insulation from 8 to 14 inches. Before this was done, my AC would run at 100% compressor at about 95 degrees outside and would start to loose a degree in the house at around 99 degrees. After the work, we had a 106 degree day and my AC compressor was running from 75-90 percent and the house was very comfortable. I would recommend and would use them again with no hesitation. In fact I may have them do some duct work they suggested (we have some areas where the ducts are not really insulated as well as they should be, and a couple connections that are a little to short (slight bump could knock them off the the AC unit). Had a terrific experience with Energy Attic. After a recent home inspection it became clear that the insulation in our attic had settled. While no one wants to spend the money on insulation, I decided to make the investment to improve our energy efficiency along with the radiant barrier. I also added a mini-split to air condition our garage, which typically hits close to a hundred degrees in the summer. The team at Energy Attic was great. Somer, who works in their main office, was a great help as we began the process, patiently answering all of our questions about what we could expect. She made a great impression on us and to be honest, made us very comfortable with our choice. Basically sealed the deal, no pun intended lol. The job was actually done by two companies - Energy Attic handled the insulation, radiant heat blocker and the two solar fans. The crew, led by a gentleman named Paco, arrived early - before 9 - and didn't leave until about 9pm. The crew totaled about 6 people as I recall and they were workhorses. Great guys, great work. My only recommendation to anyone insulating your garage as we did is to be sure to tarp your garage before they begin the insulation install. Dust everywhere as you can imagine. For the second part of the job - the installation of the mini-split as well as the sealing up of the holes in the garage from the insulation - Energy Attic subbed out to a company called Positive Home Maintenance & Repair. A gentleman named Derek handled both jobs. Derek is a great guy, very thorough and professional. He also put in the hours and went the extra mile to do the job right. By the time he was done, you would not notice that there had been 91 - that's right, 91 - holes in our garage walls. Completely restored, good as new. We are very much looking forward to seeing the impact on our utility bills of all this work. When the appointment time came up.....no show by Energy Attic. After waiting for half an hour I called their office and was told no techs were in the area and that we were rather far out but she could talk to me over the phone. Seriously?? Firstly, the radiant barrier and solar fan combination has dropped our attic temperature dramatically. With external temps in the high 90's to 100's, our a/c units are no longer struggling to keep our house cool. We've actually had to raise the set temp to 76 during the day and 74 at night because it's that much cooler now. Was worried the claims were bogus, but we're convinced. Secondly, I cannot say enough good things about Ismail and his crew. Respectful of our home, from laying protective plastic, covering our wood floors all the way to our attic access, to cleaning up at the end, and walking us through the finished job. The mark of a great customer service experience isn't when everything goes well, but when something goes sideways and how that company reacts. Energy Attic put the sideways scenario to the test and passed with flying colors. Briefly, when they installed the radiant barrier nearly two years ago, a strap to the a/c condenser coil was cut and not reattached. Over time, this caused the metal to warp and caused a drainage situation that could have caused a flood. When I got my a/c person together with Guy from Energy Attic, they went through the situation like professionals and agreed it was an install issue. I forwarded the repair estimate to Energy Attic and two days later received a check. That is what I expected and they delivered. No excuses. I should also note the radiant barrier and insulation work they did has saved me at least $100/month in power. The house is far more comfortable to live in as well. In closing, I would choose Energy Attic all over again, not only for the products and overall workmanship, but also (and most importantly) because they stand behind their work. No excuses. read more

My husband and I bought our first house 3 years ago....and the first summer killed us. Our house was built in the early 1970's...not energy efficient by any means. We were having some issues with our media room getting extremely hot and we needed both radiant barrier and a fan added to that portion of our attic. I received bids from several companies, but it was obvious very quickly that Energy Attic was the right choice.
