I have used many storage places all over the country. Chris and Carlos are extremely helpful! The units are clean and safe, the location is really convenient and access is easy. I've spoken with Chris over the phone prior to renting the unit, and after I signed up, when I had additional questions. He is very well informed, and happy to go the extra mile to help. Carlos was helpful choosing the unit that would suit our needs best. He was happy to spend as much time as we need to make the right decision. I have rented from this place for almost a year and I have to admit that I was a little concerned in the beginning when the original quotes that we got were different when I actually arrived to store my items. It turns out that there was a change in management but nevertheless, the new managers were very professional and honored the originally quoted amount although they said the actual amount would have been hired. The new management staff was very helpful on the few occasions that I interacted with them because I chose the automatic debit method but one individual who I saw frequently was Alan who was always so kind and courteous. He made sure everything was okay when I was in my accessing my unit and I appreciated his professionalism and friendliness. They were awesome! I booked online and then when i showed up in the office they knew exactly what i needed. They were courteous and quick. They have a coffee machine in the lobby....and a bowl of chocolates!! so nice ......they made it a pleasure. We have had a 10 x 25 storage unit here for about 15 years. They have always done a good job, treated us fairly and maintain a first class facility. It is a great location and is easy to get into and out of. Prices seem competitive. We are and always have been pleased. read more

Boo! I used to love this storage then they raised the prices and took away the carts. Instead of having several carts (and yes they were beat up but who cares), now there is one cart per floor which you have to hunt down and hope no one else is in your building. They said I can call them and they will find a cart. The whole reason why I liked the carts there is that I could get in and out very quickly. That is gone now. I am very disappointed. read more

I needed a storage space urgently on a Sunday and Encinitas Self Storage came through for me. Mary was very friendly and let me tour the multiple options I had. The units were clean and there were carts and elevators available for use. I called back a few days later as I decided to store some more items and Deanne was very helpful walking me through the sizes available and even suggested combining my two units in order to save me money. The music playing in the hallways is a nice touch and makes the job of loading up a storage unit a little more pleasant. I'll definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a great storage place. read more

OMG How they got Best of San Diego I don't know!!! They have consistently raised my rent . It has nearly doubled within the last year and a half. When I complained to the people in the office they said that they could command a much higher price for that size storage unit and I was still getting a break...............Really , so you choose to rip people off who have used your facility for years , it seems a nasty way to repay a customer for being loyal! It is not only me , I have talked to two others who said once the year contract was up they starting increasing their rent as well and by big hikes 33% and more. Do not rent here , there are places that do not do this , really , really, awful knowing once you are in to jack up the prices so high and often. Beware! Management is completely inflexible in taking payment options. I have been a loyal customer for over 6 years and was a little behind on a payment. I asked if I could make a partial payment and pay the remainder in a 2 weeks. The front desk refused to take the partial payment. I asked to speak to the manager. She was not there so I left a message for her to call back. She did not call back. The following week I call again to which surprisingly, she was not there. I called several times that week, never there! I left several messages and finally after getting upset with the front office about the situation get an email from her stating that they will not take a partial payment. Does not even have the courtesy to call. I call the office within 15 minutes of getting the email, and she is "not there". Apparantly management never shows up, not that they would do anything if they did. I have never had such a hard time trying to give someone money. Apparantly they don't care about customer loyalty either. read more

Can't say I had a terrible experience with the time I had a storage unit here. It's a no frills sort of place- it's only a storage unit after all. Secure facilities, and mostly helpful staff. I went month-to-month for what I thought would be one month, but ended up needed it for a second month. When a family emergency came up that required me being gone for my move out date, I called and talked to someone who said I could go day-to-day, but didn't mention that was for up to 5 days. Long story short, I came in after moving everything out 7 days into the month and found out I had to pay the whole month. Having been through a lot in the previous week, I was on a short fuse and was less than happy to hear the news because someone on the phone didn't give me accurate information. Although never acknowledging the error could be on their end, the manager insisted she would try to return a pro-rated amount for the month. Welp, just got the check and am very thankful for her extra effort in making things right. Many thanks. read more

Great service. I've recently moved our stuff out, after 4 years. We started with one unit, then when putting our place up for sale needed another, and then when we sold, we needed yet another until we bought a new place. They were able to give me units near each other - a big plus. The staff went out of their way to help me when things did not go well, and were accommodating to our move out . Deanne helped with the closing out of the units, and in other ways over the years. I never had any trouble either getting or sending emails to them. read more

My wife and I just realized we've had a storage unit for 20 years at Encinitas Self Storage. 20 years! I can hardly believe it. Our extra stuff has been tucked away safely there all this time, and the only reason we put a stop to it is that we moved downtown San Diego... and needed another storage place closer to our new home. I don't know how they got this rating .....they are great signing you up . However my rent has increased dramatically in the last 3 years. I have been in this unit for over four years and the rent has increased by 35% in the last 2 years . Oh but you will get a letter explaining how much they appreciate your loyalty, and then stiffing you with an increase. Moving to another place that doesn't increase your rent so dramatically and frequently. read more
