This review covers my wife and my new car buying experience. We knew which model we wanted and we were cross-shopping all of the dealerships in San Diego. We chose Encinitas Ford because they didn't add the rip-off "anti-theft devices" and other "dealer installed options" that other dealerships required. They were straightforward that their internet price, which was above MSRP, was their price and they wouldn't push any add-ons. Setting up a viewing with Eric B was a breeze compared to other dealers- he quickly answered all of my questions before we drove down from Oceanside after work. On a condensed timeline (they were closing in an hour), Eric and his team walked us through the purchasing process with none of your standard dealer BS- they offer some familiar options and warranties but in a more informative manner, as opposed to another dealership that wasted three hours of our time pushing these products when we repeatedly said no. My wife is over the moon with her new car, and Encinitas Ford and their customer service was a big part of our positive buying experience. I will happily recommend them to all friends/ family in the market for a new car. read more

I was on the market for a Ford Bronco Raptor. The dealer had the card advertise at msrp and once I called I got a text response from a sales person telling me the car was 50,000 over sticker! Then he tells me they get these cars from people who cancel orders. Then he tells me two of these people are the Dealer owner and the dealer GM!!! I am like Geezzzzz way to screw up your business and piss off customers. I hope Ford corporate does something to shut off this scam. read more

I'm not sure what to rate this place. I bought my car in 2015, excellent service. Was treated very well and I believe the owners daughter did my paper work. Professional and never had any problems. My car is getting old, but I bought the extended warranty and it's paid off and it broke down on me in the middle of the intersection. Blue tooth went out, radio stopped working, everything. It has 57k miles on it, which isn't too much for a 9 year old car. Had it towed in, apparently my extended warranty ended 1 week earlier. I paid the 2k and had it fixed. Told me 3 days, took 2 weeks. Then I picked it up, Bluetooth and radio still wasn't working. I talked to the manager and he was like oh sorry can you bring it in 4 days? I'm like I've literally having to Uber to work, I can't just change my schedule for you to fix what was already supposed to be fixed. Then I see there is duct tape residue and a rip on my leather trim. Gave me his card and emailed him and haven't had any response. Douches in ties. read more

I wanted to write a quick review of the service department here at Encinitas Ford. I used to take my Raptor into another N County Ford Dealer, but was told by some fellow Raptor enthusiasts to come here instead. The short version is they were 100% right. Sandy in service was super helpful in getting a couple issues fixed, and her communication and updates were awesome (so rare these days). I didn't have to keep calling in and asking for updates, not even once, which seems to be the norm everywhere else. Steve, the service manager, is super knowledgeable and an off-road guy too. I've also seen him jump in and cover for other service advisors, move cars, etc...which I really appreciate. This will be my new dealer going forward. The vibe is much more friendly & family oriented than the larger more corporate dealerships. It seems like everyone is genuinely wanting to take care of you. read more

I've charged my ford here multiple times and haven't had any issues, with sales being very courteous. Today someone else came and asked me if I bought the car with them. I said no, but haven't had any issues in the past, being a ford customer. He says these chargers are only for the dealers customers. He then says I should trade in mine for a new one. It's been sitting there for weeks now because that is an obvious and egregious example of a terrible dealership that is trying to price gouge their customers. I've taken my car here in for service, as well as for recalls for the past several years and they have been nothing but extremely professional, genuine, and caring. They have excellent service specials and coupons and their staff is top notch. I want to particularly acknowledge Judy who has helped me on several occasions specifically recently with my airbag recall, as well as an ABS brake system recall. Rigo my service advisor is also excellent, he has kept me apprised of the progress of the recall, as well as the timeline, he has excellent communication, very courteous, professional, and genuine. We purchased a new car here and cannot say enough good things about our experience. The salesperson (Rhonda Haman) listened to our questions and answered them honestly and thoroughly. She guided us through what is normally a stressful process and was very knowledgeable and forthright with no pressure. The Finance Manager (Jim) offered all the usual coating and warranties but we never felt any pressure to buy or judgement when we rejected them. We were looking for a truck for my friend last year . We looked at different types of trucks and had narrowed it down to the 2020 Ford Ranger Sport in Metallic Magnetic Gray. In search for this truck, we looked in LA county, Ventura County, San Diego county and even as far as Monterey County. After 2 months of searching, going to what it seemed over 10 different dealerships, we found Encinitas Ford. I spoke with Allen Kessler. I told him what we were looking for and he got back to me within the same day. 5 days later- we drove from Simi Valley to Encinitas. I told Allen ,"we are driving a distance, if the price is right and we are happy with it, we may possibly get it. " But, because we've been down this road before , where other dealerships claim to have the truck - but to find out , it's not there or it was sold , it made us a little cautious to every salesperson we spoke to. We arrived early in the morning, about an hour after the dealership just opened. Allen Kessler was very courteous, friendly and professional. He showed us the truck and took his time to show us all the features and went over all of the specifications. After several hours at the dealership , talking with one of the managers, talking with the finance department and negotiating a price we were happy with - we left with the Ford Ranger. I have to say it's a beautiful truck!! We were very happy with the impeccable service provided by Allen and the great customer service by all the staff!! After searching online I discovered it's incredibly common for the timing chain on the explorer to go bad around 70k miles. Wether it is due to tensioners going bad first, or other engineering issues, the problem requires major repairs costing between $3,000 to $4,000. Wish i educated myself before my purchase, now I'm out a good chunk of cash that my family needs during covid. I would also avoid buying a used Explorer anywhere near 70k miles, as some owners who are aware of the issue will dump the vehicles to avoid the repair costs. [update] Now our warning light came on saying there's an issue with the oil, which is VERY bad and could destroy the engine. It's directly tied to the service we just had because they had to drain the oil and refill it, the pump runs off the engine timing chain. We called to get help and nobody is helping. Avoid this dealership if this is what's going on here. We expect Ford to fix this ASAP, since my wife now can't get to work. read more

Andy H., Mary Ann T., and Nate S. took good care of us over our protracted purchase due to our family's busy schedule (2 working ICU RNs + 5 kids). They took the time to answer our questions via email, phone, and finally face-to-face as they patiently & promptly answered all our (my wife's) questions regarding the Transit and our unique funding requirements (because of an insurance settlement); going so far as to allow us to go with a deferred down payment. These guys are weasels. My wife bought her Mustang here years ago, and ALWAYS goes there for service on it. Even though oil changes and things like that, are a lot more expensive here. Yet, from the day she brought the car home, the rear-view mirror shakes non-stop. When I drive her car, I can barely see out of it, it's shaking so much. She's asked them a few times to take a look at it, and they blow her off. One time, upon my instance, she brought it up again. They told her how much it would cost to fix, which was some utterly ridiculous price. What a crappy way to do business, guys. Broken Promise, Unacceptable Customer Treatment, Blaming Ford At the end of 2021 i put a $500 deposit on a Ford Mach-e. The quoted price was $55k. The salesman at Encinitas Ford explained that there was no commitment on delivery time, I was fine with this. I asked very specifically whether the price was locked regardless of the Ford delivery time. He was clear, "yes the price is locked at $55k, regardless of when the car is delivered. Other dealers may not commit this but we 100% do". I ordered and put my deposit down. Two weeks later another sales person from Encinitas Ford called to say thanks for the order. I asked her to confirm the same thing about the price. Told her delivery time wasn't an issue. She did, "$55k is locked as your price regardless of when it's delivered" 3 months later I checked on the Ford website to see whether production had been scheduled and a delivery time fixed. It hadn't but disturbingly the price on the car now read $57k. I called Encinitas Ford to ask them to remedy the error. I sent them the screen shot of the price when i ordered. I assumed it was just a mistake since I had put money down nearly 3 months prior. Instead of doing do so, they blamed Ford for unpredictable price changes, said "these are unprecedented times" and that if I still wanted to buy the car it would be $57k, and may go up if Ford didn't deliver before the middle of the year. This is unacceptable and breaks every basic rule of dealing with customers. Keep your promises. Honor your word. Encinitas Ford (and Ford too) clearly can't do this. Telling me times are unprecedented, telling me it's not your fault it's Ford Motor Co, these are amateurish cop outs. I put money down, I was extremely clear on the expectations about price and heard not once, but twice that the price was $55k. I will NEVER do business with this organization, and I hope this serves as a warning to others. Organizations that do things like this will do it again and again. Take the easy way out, blame the world, blame ford, rather than honoring a promise. And I won't be surprised if they will post some lame amateur apology to this review, a comment about unprecedented times, instead of just admitting that their ethics are not solid, that they didn't honor a very clear promise. read more

I went to a Ford Dealership here in San Diego, less than a month ago, which I wasn't really impressed with so I was looking for a different Ford Dealership to take my car for additional service and for resolving a factory recall. I called 3 different highly rated dealerships I found on Yelp. I chose to take my car to Encinitas Ford because Anthony answered all of my questions and provided me with info without rushing to get me off the phone. He was very detailed in his explanations and trying to figure out what was going on with my car. He even called me back with more information to help me understand everything he was telling me. The prices he quoted for the service I needed was considerably less than one of the other Ford dealerships quoted me. Since my car would need to stay overnight and they were slowing down for the day, Anthony said I could bring my car in that day. I hurried over to drop off my car and when I arrived he explained, thoroughly, what the mechanic was going to do. I even called my husband while I was speaking with Anthony and he explained to my husband what service was going to be done and why it needed it. I was able to take the courtesy shuttle home and they even picked me up to bring me back to pick up my car. The shuttle was a huge help because I don't live in California and I was staying at a hotel in San Diego. Anthony explained, thoroughly, to both me (as well as my husband who was on the phone again) the service that was done. He had a genuine concern for making my car safe and running great! I didn't feel he was trying to charge me more, or sell me service my car didn't need. Anthony was great and I'll definitely take my car back to Encinitas Ford if it needs service again. Where to begin...I don't leave a lot of reviews, in this case, I have to let the world wide web know what a great experience I had with the entire team of Encinitas Ford. From my first talk with my sales rep Allen, to Doug in finance, and Jeff the sales manager. I'm literally getting happy mushy feelings as I write this. Long story short, I was hit by a drunk driver, no insurance, no nothing. Having to get a car, especially in this market, was the last thing I wanted. I had explained my situation to Allen, and he wasn't like the other sales reps I had spent days with already. He was sincere, empathetic, not pushy, and genuinely cared about my situation. I felt like he actually listened to what I needed and wanted, and not about pushing dealer add ons and worthless warranties (keep in mind, every other dealership I went to had a minimum $2499 dealer add on that would already be added onto a premium price price for a vehicle). Ended up buying a car that night and felt good about the purchase. Welp, as luck would have it, it wasn't the best mechanically used car. This was not the fault of Ford. I had a slight issue with the car, was able to get a hold of Allen after hours, and he connected me to Jeff right away. As soon as I spoke to Jeff, I knew everything would be ok. I had told both Allen and Jeff that I wasn't comfortable in the car anymore. They had all rights to make me stick to the contract, especially since the car was under warranty and could have been repaired. That is not what they did. They went above and beyond. They made sure I was happy and that I felt good. Even Doug (finance) was concerned and did everything he could to make sure that I was taken care. End of the day the entire team went out of their way to make sure that I felt more than just a commission to any of them. They all really cared and this is why as long as I live in Southern California, they will always get my business first. read more

The first time I went here, everything was fine. This time, It's been horrible. They've had my car for 3 days. I can't seem to figure out when I'm going to get it back. This is the third time my car has been in the shop (in 1.5 years...) for it's horrible transmission (Ford Fiesta) and Ford has had almost no communication. I'm renting a car, I have no clue when I will get my car back, and I have no clue if Ford will own up to their faulty system and replace it, or if it'll have to be claimed as a Lemon. Every time I call service, I can't seem to get anyone to help me and I sit on hold for 10 minutes before I hang up. Avoid Ford, avoid this Service Center, and buy something from a company that won't make the same mistake for 8 years and then try to blow it off. I thought internet car shopping would be less stressful and more relaxing in my own home than actually driving out to the Encinitas Ford Dealership. I became to realize this is not the case, I was interested in searching for a 2019 Ford Mustang GT Base Model car. I shouldn't have given out my cell phone number that was a mistake and I also gave out my email address. A couple of days later I was sent an email by Michelle the sales manager at Encinitas Ford. Frank this sales man also called me today to talk to me about a quote and the Encinitas Ford website, he emailed to me on the inventory he has on the 2019 Ford Mustang GT Base Model and Premium Mustang GT Model cars this dealership currently has in stock now. I was okay with the information he emailed to me. I told Frank this sales man, my mechanic and the owner of S & R Service Center owns a black Ford Mustang GT 2009 Model Car. I said my mechanic works on his car at his automotive repair shop and also races his car on the weekends as a hobby. I am very comfortable speaking to my mechanic and trust him to give me his honest opinion on the Ford Mustang GT Base Model cars. I said I want to speak to the owner first to give me some advice and guidance on car buying. Frank told me it is okay with him and he doesn't mind me talking to my mechanic when I go and see him to get one of my cars serviced this week. Then I receive a cell phone call from Michelle later this afternoon and she leaves me a voicemail message and tells me that Frank will be at the Encinitas Ford Dealership all day today and tomorrow and to stop by as soon as possible so I can test drive their 2019 Ford Mustang GT Model cars. The whole time I felt pressure by two pushy sales people. Even when I try to search for Ford Cars on their website an internet woman comes online on the chat line and tries to pressure me to make a decision on what kind of model Ford car I would be interested in purchasing, the color of the car, and if I want to finance the car or buy the car as a cash purchase. It is too much pressure for the average customer to deal with when they are trying to shop online. If a customer wants to buy a car, allow the customer set the pace and they will call you or email you and let you know if they are ready to buy or lease a Ford car from your dealership. Their high pressure sales tactics makes (me) the customer walk away and not come back. I am done and have decided to keep my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe car since my car looks like a new car and has really low mileage. My mechanic and the owner (Nico Bosi) of S & R Service Center does excellent work on my car. My car issues are regular maintenance issues. read more

They went out of their way to help me, not only get financed but into the exact car I wanted no if ands or buts: I came in at 4pm and left the dealership a little after 9 and Kevin, my financing guy stayed late doing all the paperwork and not only had a great attitude but was super easy and honest to work with. Jack Hawkins as well, took his time in helping me purchase my car. He was very patient and really walked me through each test drive and in explaining the vehicle and how it worked and was just very kind. I know I can count on this dealership to pull the deal through and I now know that I can continue to have excellent service. Everyone really did go out of their way to make my experience great.
