Apparently it's a thing because the restaurant offers Sarapes to keep the clients warm. The drinks and and food were perfectly seasoned and delicious. I only wish I could have tried more options. Everything looked incredible and hit the spot. My little boy loved his breakfast and we had plenty of leftovers. The lobster was so tender and succulent. The steak was perfectly cooked. Honestly people are driven by word of mouth, but this place has poor service and the food is not even worth trying. We ordered a whole fish with shrimp and octopus, fish was dry due to it being cooked prior to ordering and the octopus was hard to chew. The beans and rice were flavorless (if beans in a Mexican restaurant are not good, what can you expect from the rest of the menu). Prior to coming here I read the reviews and one of the things that stood out for me is the quality of the food. So my wife and I ate seafood tacos in Ensenada and came here and just ordered an appetizer and drinks. Set up on a cliff with the waves crashing below, incredible views. Decorated so beautifully, would be such a great location for a wedding or huge party! Each room is a little bit different too. We stopped in for drinks as we had a big breakfast and weren't yet hungry. Margaritas were amazing! Love the decor in the restaurant and the live music was awesome. It was a little breezy when we went but the warmth of the sun made up for it. The ocean views and shoreline were beautiful to look at. It was empty and did take a minute to get drinks (Friday around noon). But once we were able to get drinks, chips, guacamole, and salsa, we had no issues after. The view is amazing, the food is good, but the service from the front staff is awful with lack of introduction, lack of making you aware what tables are available. This place has many viewpoints, front staff should be asking what area do you prefer and let you know availability. They should also ask you if it's your first time, so that they can provide you a tour if the large restaurant so you can decide which area you'd prefer and determine for yourself if you'll wait for a table or take any available. One major thing to note is that they only take cash and they don't have an ATM. We had to leave and pull out cash from a gas station and come back. Onto what we ordered. Their drinks are cheap and good! I had a piña colada that wasn't very strong but for $5 I'll take it! My boyfriend had a mango margarita that was stronger. For meals we tried the garlic shrimp, the skirt steak, and a combo plate of ribeye & lobster. They came with a good amount of sides and they brought out some of the best tortillas I've ever had. Listen, the food isn't that good but you still need to come here because of the vibes. I haven't heard anyone talking about the chocolate flan dessert which was probably the best part. No the dolphin sighting was the best part but I would definitely get the flan again. We got some apps. Ceviche, and clam chowder/tortilla soup (because it was cold). Clam chowder comes in bread bowl and better than tortilla soup. Tortilla soup had way too much tortilla. We also got the shrimp costa Azul. The shrimp was very creamy, it was almost too much. Wouldn't get this as a main dish because it's so rich you can only have 1-2 so if you want to try it get it to share. The ceviche was OK. We got the fish one not the shrimp. Maybe shrimp would've been better. We ended up just getting the chocolate flan after, having cocktails, and watching the sunset. Amazing experience with the live music, and someone got proposed to!! It's loud so be ready. Then we went next-door for actual dinner at los Portales. Next time I come I want to try the fajitas here which looked delicious. I would avoid this place if you're not looking to spend a ton of money on mediocre food. It's a beautiful restaurant and very picture worthy, but lacked in so many areas. The out waiter barely checked on us after our food came, we have to track him down to order more drinks and pay our bill. Oh, also, the tip is automatically added! After watching a tiktok, I was impressed with the scenery and location of the restaurant that I decided to make a quick trip down to Mexico. To my surprise, we didn't even need a reservation on a Friday. As soon as you step in, the decorations and vibe of the restaurant are on point! We sat at the terrace, which gave us a view of the coast, beautiful, beautiful views! I could not get over it. They had live music on the terrace as well to set the mood. For appetizers I order the aguachiles, which were amazing, it had just the right kick to it. For my drink I ordered the encanto margarita, one of the best margaritas I have ever had. The place was beautiful.... Hermoso.... and that is basically all it had to offer. Total disappointment when it came to the service and food. Our waiter did not check on us once. Meseros sin attencion. Our table ordered camarones costa azul, camarones al mojo de ajo, shrimp alfredo, and chicken alfredo. There is nothing positive to say about any of these dishes. The camarones costa azul looked beautiful on the outside, but once I took the first taste, they were completely raw inside (see picture). I wanted to talk to the waiter to order something different, but as I mentioned before, he never came to check on us, then seeing that no one in our party was happy with their dish, I was just ready to get the check and leave. As for the camarones al mojo de ajo, they were bland with no hint of garlic, basically tasted like boiled shrimp. The same issue followed with the shrimp and chicken alfredo, flavorless shrimp and chicken tossed with what I can only imagine they call alfredo sauce. Another disappointment was that they didn't have the usual sides of a great mexican restaurant, beans and rice. They seemingly replaced beans and rice for the common American sides of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Which were also unfortunately flavorless. After waving down the waiter for the check various times, I had to finally get up about 30 minutes later and talk to the hostess at the front about getting our check. By this time, my party was just filled with disappointment because not even our drinks were good. All in all, if you want to enjoy the view and a beautiful place this is the spot!
