A Hidden Gem with Heart This was my first time visiting the…read moreHabitat for Humanity ReStore, and it was such a wonderful experience. A friend of mine is opening a small artisan consignment shop, and we were able to find amazing store displays--stand shelving, a bench, and several other pieces that helped create the perfect rustic yet chic, neutral look she was going for. The staff and volunteers were incredibly pleasant, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. Parking is free, and I highly recommend going early during the weekday to make it easier to find a spot and less crowed. This place truly carries everything you could need for your home--sofas, bedroom and office furniture, bathroom items (from sinks to toilets), pots, home décor, light fixtures, shelving... you name it, they likely have it. They are constantly receiving new donations, so you never know what you'll find on a daily or weekly basis. Every time we thought we had found everything we needed, we decided to take one more look--and each time, we discovered even more great items. On top of that, it feels especially good knowing that your purchases support such a meaningful and worthwhile organization. If you have furniture or home items to donate, this is absolutely a place to bring them. I will definitely be back and highly recommend stopping in--you never know what treasures you'll find!

I didn't find what I needed but got tons of help from the staff as I looked. They even lent me their tape measure since I had forgotten mine. Employee Jenn greeted me with freshly popped popcorn since they just celebrated their grand opening. She also mentioned that they have a moving company to help you transport purchases for those of us who are car-free. * friendly helpful staff * clean * large inventory * transport available

Yep, let me take you back to the 80's, I see other mention the 80s also…read more Well, for us at Danny's autobody, we loved Delagado's sandwiches. My favourite was the corn beef with cheese, everything on it heated under a cast iron press. Oh my GOD, it was my heaven! After 45 years passed by and I had to look it up as my all'time best sandwiches. It was expensive, yes, was $8, not bad today's standards but back then was a hefty price. It was a nice portion, should of been good for 2 meals, but I was never able to stop at the half way down as a growing man. The taste............. fantastico, I still can taste it in my mouth!

A Yonkers Institution…read more Delgado's Grocery is an absolute hidden gem in Yonkers. I've been coming here since the early '80s -- my dad introduced me to this place when I was a kid, and I've never eaten anything else from here except their famous Wedge -- a pastrami con todo (pastrami with everything). This place has been serving Yonkers residents for over 50 years, and the friendly staff really makes you feel like part of the family. I love this place, my children love this place, and my wife would kill me if she ever found out I came here and didn't bring her a sandwich or share one! Even my sister-in-law, who follows a strict gluten-free diet, sacrifices her usual routine just to enjoy one of these sandwiches. Best sandwich spot in Yonkers, hands down. Trust me, call ahead if you can -- you'll want to get your hands on that wedge!

Best Used Furniture - Bring Atillio a coffee and donut and he'll load the car for you. Speaks Spanish, ask him to count on English.

I have shopped here previously and they do have some good deals. However my most recent experience…read morewas so horrible I had to say something. We are moving out of our apartment and have a number of goods (sofa, table, chairs, etc) that we need to get rid of. We were hoping to sell or exchange them with Best Used Furniture. I called and asked if they would be interested in coming over to check out our goods. "Absolutely!" I was told and that they would be over on Monday evening. Monday evening rolls around, my wife and I are packing for our move. The appointment time comes and goes. No one shows. No one calls. Finally after repeated phone calls to Hugo we are told "I'm sorry we have so much going on, I can't make it. Tomorrow night, I give you my word." We must get rid of these goods, so wife and I cancel our plans for the next night. Again, waiting around. The appointed time comes and goes....no show, no call. Again, repeated phone calls to Hugo and Best Used Furniture. This time no answer at all. I call the next day and get a string of excuses. Finally we reschedule a third time for Thursday morning. We are inconvenienced, yet again but figure out a way to have someone there. Best Used arrives, assesses the situation and we come to an agreement. Saturday morning, 10am they will come by to pick up all our goods. Now we are waiting around Saturday for this very important pick up as these MUST be gone. 10am. No show. No call. We proceed to call and leave voicemails, no answer. Now, almost a week later we have not been given the DECENCY of a response. I do not think Hugo and Best Used are malicious. I think they are incompetent. They are completely unreliable unless you hand deliver goods to them. I you are buying anything from them just know this is how they treat people they buy from, so do not expect much better for how they will treat you as a customer.

The assistant manager, Petra Guadalupe , is a stellar example of good management for her customers…read more Yesterday I was waiting on line when a hostile customer screamed at the cashier. The customer raged at the staff and accused the manager of mismanagement. I assumed the staff and Ms. Guadalupe would respond negatively. Instead I witnessed Ms. Guadalupe help the angry person feel better. She apologized and smiled at all of us and calmed everyone down. The angry customer left in a positive way. I asked Ms. Guadalupe why she didn't react aggressively at the angry customer. She said'" We all have bad days." "Sometimes customers take out their frustrations on our company but it's our job to make sure that we don't get caught in a vicious circle." I was so impressed with Ms. Guadalupe's attitude because I seldom see managers help with wellness.

After dropping off my cuz at his girls crib I notice a family dollar store in Warburton in Yonkers…read moreand say no more cause I am jumping in . A richer man's version of dollar tree and the step brother of dollar general but there is no way you can leave this place and not buy something. I usually grab my paper towels , tissue papers, paper plates and cups, cleaning supplies , shampoo, snacks , and plenty more useful things that won't cost you that much . I stop by the dollar section which is usually bare by the afternoon but I did grab 2 bottles of lemon scented lysol type cleaner which actually works as good as the real thing .A bit messy at a few aisles but overall the workers keep the place clean and organized. Checkout was fast and lady cashier was nice enough and for 55 bucks I got plenty. Count me as a fan of family dollar and I ain't the only one.
