06/2020 Updating below 10/2016 review: I'm still very happy with my experience at Empire. They've extended their gate access from 6am to 10pm now(was 9pm). The office staff is GREAT now, always pleasant and happy to help with any questions. I'm raising my rating to 5 stars, I can't think of any improvements needed. All the rest of my earlier review holds except the better customer service now, a great storage place! 10/2016: Would be 4 1/2 stars if possible! Pros: *Super convenient: 6am-9pm gate access is awesome!!! *Very clean facility, low dust, no bugs or rodents *No water leaks, flooding, water damage. *Pay online or by phone *Only one nominal rent increase in 2 1/2 years *Generally pleasant staff(see below) *Always billed as represented verbally. I've never experienced any billing "gotchas"; . *Vacated one of my units and no "gotta give us 30 days notice" noise; no problem/attitude at all. F this place had a unit for 2 months and my unit got broken into and stole my valuables. Seemed like an inside job because the employees and managers were no help at all. DO NOT RENT HERE!! I certainly will never again. Pay a little extra for a different storage facility this one is BULLSHIT. read more

I just got my storage unit 2 days ago. I went to put more items in it and there were WOLF SPIDERS. When I ask for any help. They said it was all on me. Now im afraid they might have more pest (roaches, bed bugs, termites, ect). This is a gross and disgusting feeling and no way to do business. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE!! New customer but I've always rented from Derrel's until I found Empire. My unit way cleaner/nicer and the best part about it is the late access. Just as I was leaving today I walked in the office to buy a water and Diandra was nice enough to spare me one, great customer service! read more

While I really never had issues while at Empire, the fact that I didn't receive a prorated refund of almost a full months rent left a very sour taste. I had to move out quickly and the office wasn't open for me to give a notice before or immediately after New Year's Day. Empire would not consider issuing refund. This is just bad business. I will not consider Empire for any future storage needs. read more

Don't ever use these people! You will Not be able to contact the owners if needed. I was not told I needed to sign a vacate form.... but I vacated when I needed to. Now I'm being charged a full month! $70.00 I asked why can't you pro-rate ???? Wow what a way to get some money! Be very careful when using any Empire!!!! read more

My unit was broken into and the alarm went off on 8/8 at 9:00pm. The facility waited 11 DAYS to call me and only told me my lock looked like it may not be on my unit incorrectly, still never stating the alarm went off. Knowing I locked it and tugged on the lock multiple times before leaving I waited till this weekend to go by. As soon as I pulled up I could CLEARLY see that the whole door lock had been busted apart and some cheap lock that wasn't mine was just hanging on my door, you would have to be blind to not notice this. I lost $3k in items from my unit and the facility tells me sorry and that this has been an ongoing problem. Why aren't they telling the renters about this!? They have the absolute WORST customer service and they are extremely rude in the office. I have terminated my lease and took out what was left. When leaving I noticed a large unit had a broken door that was fully opened and and a paper stating "the customer had been notified and to please not steal anything as you are on camera". Willing to bet they didn't tell them about the repeated break-ins they are having when they just left for the day acting like the paper will stop this person who's stealing our stuff. If you have stuff stored there that you care about like I did, I strongly suggest you go remove items you can not replace and move to a new company that doesn't lie about the quality of their security. read more

Clean secure facilities, I rented a 10 x 10 space for $102 per month, I never took a tape measure to be sure but the unit seemed small, I went ahead a built a shed in the back yard and closed out the account. no problems whatsoever nice place. read more

I have been using Empire for about a year now and have been so happy with them & their facility! Clean, well run & friendly staff!

As a customer for 8 years they were a good company. I felt they were trust worthy but one day I visited my storage. I. Forgot to lock it and I had to be gone out of town so to be able to return was impossible that day. I called before they closed and I told them if they could put a new lock and of course they agreed. The man I spoke to said they could see no one had entered the storage. I was relieved. But unfortunately it was not so. Someone entered stealing expensive fishing poles and other items of collectors. I trusted them but I was reassured all was well. Did the person I spoke to enter and look around taking things that he assured me were intact? no longer have a storage there but it left a feeling of not be able to trust them again ever. It's unfortunate that when people have difficult times they want to know that they can trust those they store with. This changed my opinion of Empire Storage. Must of been someone who worked there who took the items. Please screen those who you hire. Finding people who are trustworthy if difficult these days. But of course they had no supervision. On June 1, 2015 I rented and paid for an indoor space. I looked over the facility and made sure it was clean and free of bugs. I returned 5 days later to start placing items in storage. On my way to my unit there were dead cockroaches littering the floor. I returned to the office to notify the person working, he said he would address the issue with pest control and had never seen that before and that it shouldn't be like that. When I called today to ask for a refund because I'm not going to store my items inside a facility that has cockroaches, I was told Empire has a no refund policy. I asked why they state in their contract the tenant has to verify and keep the facility clean and sanitary before and during use but they themselves don't have to adhere to the policy. I was told that "the bugs are dead". I was very dissapointed in the handeling of this situation. I never placed any items in storage and I fealt I should have been given a refund. This company thinks it's ok to have cockroaches all over the facility because they were dead, but I don't agree. I shouldn't have to worry about cockroaches crawling into my stuff while it's in storage. That's the reason I was willing to pay more for an indoor climate control unit. I also don't agree with a company writing into its contract that the tenant is responsible for a level of cleanliness that they can't maintain. I would not recommend Empire storage. read more

I recently used Empire storage and at first they seemed helpful and customer service oriented. However I came into a major family issue and lost a parent that lived in another state and while they worked with me in the beginning dealing with the loss of a parent is extremely hard emotionally. To make a long story short they sold my unit gave me an email heads up and the day I called to pay the unit it was gone. Needless to say I basically begged And offered to pay the buyer for my personal non replaceable items pictures and such. All of my daughter trophies she earned playing athletics gone. So I would suggest if you use empire or any other storage unit don't come up in hard times because it they will sale your stuff. read more

Unprofessional management and owner! I came in from Houston Texas to visit my father at St Agnes Hospital on Christmas Eve. I called Empire Storage to see if they were closing early and there was NO mention of this on their recording. I went to the unit at 1:30 pm on the 24 th and found it closed. When I called the 'emergency' number, I was told there was a note on the door. I told the manager NO there was not! I also told her there was not anything on their phone recording of early closing. After my persistence, she called the owner and the manager came to open the office and charged me $50 cash. So.. I had to pay $50 cash for coming to my unit during the business hours that was on the Empire Storage phone recording!! How is this fair!!!! Just take ownership for your mistake and not charge innocent people for following your open times on the phone!!! How unprofessional! read more

I have been using Empire Storage since they opened, the site is clean, pest free, the staff is usually nice, they offer a temperature controlled storage area. I would have given them five stars but after a incident and the staff person on the end of the phone was cheerful but sounded condescending. The incident was that they had implemented a change in a policy and was told this change was located in the contract so I should read it and was not interested in discussing the major impact that this change in access had caused. read more

I have been a customer of empire storage for about a year. Never had a problem with the staff. The bathroom was the cleanest I've ever seen and office was pleasant. However a new manager came and made my transition into a new stall difficult. Her responses were short and rude. Never smiled or greeted me nicely. She went as far as quoting me double for a larger unit so I would rent elsewhere. I to was hit with bogus fees and forced move out. I hope the owner figures out what a mistake they made hiring her. I will never recommend this facility. read more

Celina is extremely rude and enjoys getting people upset about loosing everything and doing absolutely nothing to help eradicate the problem. I always pay with a credit card online. At Christmas I got a month behind due to credit not being available. I wasn't worried because I knew it would be available in January and I could pay the bill. Well apparently if you're more than 30 days past due then you're not allowed to pay with a credit card!! Interesting. Now they laugh at me when I'm distressed about loosing the entire unit and racking up more late fees!! They certainly DO NOT put the customer first, the ones who help ensure that they have a job.....yeah just treat us like crap and steal our belongings, that's nice!! I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't ALWAYS pay with a credit card. Then when I want to pay the full amount and more they won't accept it.
