As I came in for breakfast at Empire Diner today, I found out that today is the one year anniversary of their opening. I was here on their first day too ! I am a very frequent patron here and the reason is that their food is tasty, fresh and very appetizing. They are always featuring innovative specials that you just don't see elsewhere. The wait staff and management are attentive and friendly. They greet customers with a smile , often by their name . We eat out a lot and prefer coming here. The restaurant chains don't get it. Empire Diner does. If you frequented a chain restaurant in the area and noticed that their best servers have left there, you likely will find those good servers are now working at Empire ! There are breakfast specials, lunch and dinner specials that are sure to make your mouth water . The kitchen and servers pay attention to the plating of your order in a way that you don't see at other restaurants. That is what keeps me, and other customers coming back here . Update: September 2017, they now offer an on premises madeTiramisu that is to-die-for delicious !! Update: Today is the third anniversary of the opening of the Empire Diner. The food, service and staff here remain consistently above all others. I have eaten at least one meal a day here (except when away) since they opened. The owners are friendly, caring people and so are the staff . The house made cheesecakes are outstanding by the way ! read more

The food was greasy, spotty silverware, and the service was so so. $3.29 for a cup of coffee, just go to Dunkin across and get a specialty drink for the same amount. Had to track down our waitress multiple times. They forgot refills and didn't ask us for boxes when we clearly didn't finish our meal. She just dropped the check and never came back. We tracked down another guy and he was nice and gave us boxes. $49 for lunch seems steep with an unknown "CF 3% fee" on our bill. Will not return. read more

Glad I did.) Although I only had the souvlaki the first time, I noted friendly and attentive service by all, including the manager. The food came out fairly quickly given that I arrived during the peak lunch hour. The pita was the best pita I have ever eaten. The fries were up there with the best fries I have ever eaten. There was plenty of food for my money overall, and it was memorably delicious. So for this update, I finally went in for a full meal. I can offer the following updates: * I went during the dinner peak this time (I should say: just after a Hudson Valley Renegades game across the river), and service was MUCH slower to attend to us. Now, to be fair, I arrived with one person and we were waiting on a third, so I didn't expect them to rush to take or order until the third person arrived... but at least bring us water? Took like 15 minutes for that. * Shrimp pasta was delicious. But if you're smothering shrimp in sauce, please de-shell? Otherwise serve them on the side so I can do that myself. Annoying to have to sift through the sauce and clean my hands. * They did sub in pasta of my choice. * Carrot soup was OK, nothing special but it was the soup of the day vs. just a plain salad for my veggies. Desserts were on display but I was stuffed. Again, you will get plenty of food here. But try not to come at the same time as /everyone/ else.
