I'm not the type to bash on people. I've been a regular customer. The waitress messed up my drink order. Gave coke instead of Diet Coke. Understandable mistake but I'm a type one diabetic so I carb count. Bill came out to $78 for my family. Five of us. This is where it gets weird. Waitress counts the money in front of my family and points at the tip line. Mind you I left $94. Confused I ask her what she meant. She said I forgot the "tax"(she meant tip). I told her I tipped more than 20% which is unusual for buffet style. She looks at the money and apologizes. Super embarrassing. I love it it is clean I love the food but it is sometime moldy the bathrooms are not in the best condition but is is a good place.

It's a buffet right , tell me why, I made it through my first plate went onto my second and then went up for a desert to finish, and the lady started aggressively sweeping the floor so I couldn't get to the food literally had to jog away from her as she practically chased me down with the broom, then to top it off , my bill came to 98 bucks as expected for the 5 of us , at a SELF SERVE BUFFET and we pay the money and one of the workers had the audacity to demand a tip for doing absolutely nothing for us other than bringing us a check. Price was decent, ice cream was ok, dessert and fruit not bad, orange slices were good, hot and sour soup was nothing special, mussels were picked over when I got there, no sushi, chicken wings looked a little scary, big problem was the general bland flavoring overall. Seats people of color in a separate room or in the far back corner. The ones or Manger sits and stares at you. The servers are most ok just looks like a toxic work environment. The food is mostly just fare its the professionalism and respect for all people that's lacking. Won't be going back there, and I would not recommend it. Hopefully there's a change in ownership or management soon. read more

On the way home from Providence, I passed through Woonsocket and decided to stop in at Empire Buffet for a late Friday night dinner since I was very hungry and the AYCE Dinner Buffet was only $11.99 plus tax. I arrived here around 9:30 PM and the place was not very busy. I was seated immediately in a worn out booth (taped seats) and helped myself to the food. The selection of food was very good including plenty of seafood options, typical Chinese dishes, American food, pizza, sushi, fruits, salads, and desserts including hard scoop Warwick Ice Cream. I enjoyed crab legs (not many left), steamed clams, stuffed shrimp, stuffed clams, mussels, salmon, dumplings, lo mein, egg foo young, spring rolls, crab rangoon, California rolls, seaweed, fried rice, chow fun noodles, macaroni & cheese, stuffed mushrooms, corn on the cob, cheese pizza, mixed vegetables/broccoli, onion rings, chicken wings, chicken teriyaki sticks, and coffee ice cream with strawberry sauce bananas. I was stuffed afterwards and the total check with tax and before tip was $12.95, a very good price for lots of tasty greasy food. During the course of my buffet dinner around 9:45 PM, I was the only customer left and the staff was doing mad cleaning including very noisy vacuuming of the carpet and shouting to each other in Chinese. read more

I suggest the mini egg pies, white rice noodles, white fried rice, ground chicken covered shrimp, jalapeño chicken meatballs, honey chicken wings, black pepper shrimp, general tsao chicken, baked imitation crab with cheese, fried dough balls, and freshly cooked crab!! Let me start by saying, I was way more impressed with this buffet than I was expecting. I went for lunch today and I can't complain. I was able to get in and out of there in no time, the food was all fresh and hot. The only thing was the food could of used some more seasoning, it was a little bland but for $8 I cant complain. The servers weren't the friendliest and I didn't really actually speak to a server almost the whole time besides for my drink and check which is fine since it's a buffet but I've had better service at others. Well that was awful! Proof that Rhode Islanders don't get out enough (four stars? Have you never eaten GOOD food? This restaurant did about 25% Chinese and 75% of of American food (fries, nuggets, cheese sticks, pizza etc). Neither of which did they do well!!! I am NOT much of a desert person but I ate my fill to compensate for the lack of entrees that were edible! Even so everything on the dessert bar but the tapioca pudding and jello were definitely defrosted. This place is incredible. Hands down. A Chinese buffet, Empire Buffet is huge. Lots of food, lots of variety. Good sushi, awesome General Tso's and incredible lo mien. I've been coming here for years and this place has never disappointed. Really cheap, too. Dinner (unlimited trips to buffet) and a soda will come out to less than ten dollars. Better than I expected. Seriously mind-blown. I'm a Taiwanese woman with incredibly preferential tastes when it comes to ethnic cuisine. I have tried many Chinese buffets in RI/MA and Empire Buffet is by far the most "authentic" tasting (a bit sad, but worth it). My husband and I went during lunch time on Wednesday (special $4.95). The food was hot and fresh. I tried their chicken dishes and they were delectable and tender. I loved their fried rice and lo mein. I also love how they have real ice cream buckets instead of soft-serve machines. My only complaint is the variety of unappealing desserts. My family and I have come here twice after my son's baseball practice. The first time I liked it; the second time, I didn't like it as much - not sure why. The food is okay... If you are hungry you can't go wrong with the price. You'll definitely find SOMETHING that you can eat. I liked their seafood salad and some of the lo mein and mei fun and rice dishes were decent. My 7 year old liked it because there were a lot of options for him that he could get himself (chicken fingers, fries, pizza, dumplings etc.). They also have a number of flavors of ice cream that you can scoop yourself. The few that I tasted were a little grainy and I don't like the idea of everyone scooping their own, so I could do without that. Other Chinese buffet places that I've been to had the soft serve, which I def prefer. The other desserts are okay... although they kind of taste like they came out of the freezer. They do have quite a bit of fresh fruit, which is nice. So again, this is not the best Chinese cuisine, but if you are hungry and don't want to spend a lot of money, it's perfectly fine. read more

The Empire Buffet is pretty much what I expected for a Chinese buffet in Woonsocket. I would rate the food at about 2 1/2 stars. The pans were kind of empty for certain items, some things tasted like they had been under the heat lamps for quite a while, but were ok. The hot and sour soup was gross. It tasted like it sat out for two days heating and was burnt at the bottom. I would give it 4 stars for cleanliness. The floor was clean entering and everywhere I could see. The buffet area was wiped down and clean. And after a couple left, we watched the girl doing the tables completely wipe down the high chair the couple's baby used. She wiped every inch of it. The staff was friendly and courteous so I would say 3 stars there. And the price was good. They only serve beer and wine if you like alcohol with your meal.
