This place is a nice edition to the food scene in Eugene and is conveniently located near campus. There were a variety of different dishes to choose from but my favorite had to be the pho and ice cream. The pho broth taste better than most pho restaurants here in town. It is a little old and needs a facelift but overall great place. Would come back here again. read more

I stopped by with my Friend to celebrate an occasion, and I've been feeling like Americanized Chinese food. Plus, I was wondering if this Chinese/Asian Buffet had some desserts I really cherish and love. [Spoiler: they did!] [Food & Price]: Being it was a weekday lunch buffet, it was only $12. I think that's pretty decent for the area and the selection is decent (no seafood, only fried fish). All the food looked fresh, hot, and steamy. That's really great. They were all covered very generously in sauces and tasted fresh. None of my chicken got soggy and was still pretty warm by the time I started to finish up. A majority of it was chicken, I didn't see any pork and maybe 1 beef entree. They had chicken nuggets, fries, fried fish, sweet and sour chicken (sauce on the side), cream cheese ragoons, shrimp, mushroom chicken, chow mein, rice vermicelli, egg fried rice, and more. For the desserts, they had some puddings, jelly cubes, banana in strawberry sauce, ice creams (they have the twist option, which makes it half vanilla-chocolate), and apple crisp pie! [Interior & Service]: Being a buffet it is practically self-serve, waitresses stopped by timely offering more ice water and removing plates, which is always appreciated. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dim/dark and the booths have vinyl seating, but comfortable. Also the whole restaurant floor is very spacious with plenty of seats. I did want to note that others mentioned their stomach being upset, mine was too but maybe from overeating. Empire is much better than China Sun locally, based on my past experiences at China Sun (pretty sure they are $ more than Empire). Overall, I definitely will stop by again if they keep it up with the fresh and hot food! read more

We came at 7pm on a Saturday and there was no wait, we were immediately greeted and seated. The staff was very attentive taking our drink orders and bring back refills. The food was all delicious the only thing we didn't try was the sushi bar but everything else was on point! None of the food was soggy and I didn't even get any fatty or cartilage pieces! The desserts are a little random but each one was very tasty yet not too sweet. It's a cozy place with a good amount of seating and even a bar. They do give you a fortune cookie for each person at the end of your meal before bringing over the bill. My only complaint is that two of the chicken dishes I got were somehow cold :( I'm not sure on the price but for two of us with drinks it came out to $40. To me it's still worth the price and overall I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in town or feeling particularly hungry lol. read more

My husband wanted to come in here for dinner, and it's been on our list of places to eat for a while. I avoided it as long as possible, until I had no choice. Now I remember why I hate this place. Let's start with the good stuff. The banana pudding was the best part. It was the only good part, but we'll gloss over that fact. Lol. There is something just gross about food being made and just sitting there waiting for my arrival. The word slimy comes to mind in terms of texture. But food poisoning also comes to mind as food sits waiting. Thankfully that didn't happen on this visit, but it's always a concern when it comes to a buffet. There's also carpet in the dining rooms. Again, gross. They do a pretty good job at keeping it clean, but still. Carpet in a dining room is about as intelligent and sanitary as carpet in a bathroom, in my opinion. Service wasn't bad. Probably the only thing making this a two star review instead of a one star. The employees were friendly and attentive. My husband ordered a soda, and they were watching when he finished it to replace it. Would I return? No. Absolutely not. I'm not a fan of food sitting out waiting for me to arrive, and the health concerns that come with it. I'm actually amazed buffets are even still a thing these days. The food was delicious! The sweet & sour chicken was nice and crunchy in a good way. It wasn't fried to smithereens. I wasn't happy with the sweet and sour sauce, I thought it would have been thicker!! The sweet donuts are warm and thick and all kinds of goodness. I'm totally satisfied with my order aside from the thin sauce. All in all the food was very delicious! I was upset that the sweet and sour sauce wasn't that thick... I even called to ask if it was. Took a drive to Eugene to run errands. Decided to stop and try the Chinese buffet. Arrived Sunday at 1:30pm and the parking lot was full. Good sign. Staff attentive and picked up plates promptly. The best plates were the sautéed octopus and coconut shrimp. Also, the hot and sour soup was absolutely delicious. I would definitely remember those three things! Never would I normally order sautéed octopus, but figured since I like fried calamari, to give it a try. Loved it! Price point was great. read more

During lunchtime I had a wonderful variety of freshly prepared items, great sauces, good seafood. The Chinese items are done very well, but the Japanese and Vietnamese are less great. For example they serve the pho by putting beansprouts in and they drop a quartered piece of lime into the broth, when these two things are usually served on the side for the customer to add themselves. Also I was missing the essential fresh basil. The pho broth, brisket slices and noodles are of good quality. Great meal for the price. read more

Used to come here and always thought it was okay, decent food for decent price. last time I came in I saw they changed the name and thought maybe it had improved after not coming back for a couple of years. My friend and I both ended up getting sick after eating their food, figured it was good poisoning as we only shared this meal together. Wont be coming back. Everything was as mediocre as I remember and the interior remained exactly the same with the exact same items on the menu. Through the years my family and I have gone here and it's been good. Lately some things have gone down hill. Just last night my wife and I had dinner there and a lot of the dishes were cold. We told them but seen nobody take a look, was disappointed. Service use to be good but now it seems like you don't get much attention and it wasn't busy. I used to enjoy going there and eating the crab legs but now they barely put any out. Now they mix them in with crawdads and muscles, so they disappear pretty quick now. I have to admit, I have never physically been to this location but, this is our go to for Chinese food when we order Grubhub. It is tough ordering this way because you can almost guarantee the food will be cold or at least lukewarm when it arrives. I have never had that be an issue with empire. The food is always still hot and packaged really well to keep it that way. Our favorite is the chicken lo mein and the peanut butter chicken. The portions are always generous and the food is really great. Never been disappointed and will keep coming back for more! read more
