Last minute decision to come here for lunch because I was at the mall across the street. I pulled up and the place looked busy. The gal told me that the lunch buffet will end in about 40 minutes and asked if it was okay with us. I said no problem. We go seated and got went to the buffet counter. It was a smaller selection than what we were used to but it didn't bother us. We got what we wanted to eat and enjoyed our food. Even though the buffet was closing soon, the cooks were still bringing items out. I was kinda expecting we were just going to get what ever is left, but everything was still coming out very hot and fresh. I didn't get seconds, but my daughter did. She's pregnant and said that the food really hit the spot for her and the baby. For me, that's a win! Thank you for the great food and service. We will definitely be back. read more

I have been wanting some Indian food, and saw on Royal India's website they offer lunch specials that were pretty reasonable. So I went to Royal India. I was seated quickly, and brought water... I also ordered a Masala Chai. Once there, I found out they no longer have Lunch Specials, but opened a buffet ($17.95) instead. Apparently the website has been incorrect for over a year, but the owner has not fixed it. I did not really want buffet, although it looked decent. So I ordered the Chicken Korma ($19.95). Then I found out that unlike the lunch specials I was hoping for, they do not serve Naan with their dishes, so also ordered some Garlic Naan. The food was delivered to my table in a reasonable amount of time... and looked good, although I thought the portion of Korma was pretty small for the price. Korma description in the menu states it has cashews and raisins in it. I think I could taste some cashew, although there were no whole cashews like I have had at other restaurants with this dish... and no raisins either. It did taste strongly of curry leaves which overpowered the cashew flavor I love. But every cook does this dish differently. Large portion of rice was ok. Garlic naan was very thin, and lacked the chewy softness I expect from naan. This was just flat, no rise at all. Masala chai was lacking in flavor, but it was a large portion, which was nice. Service was very good... Ingrid checked on me repeatedly, and was very nice. For the price ($36+) with the tip, I felt like this was a very expensive lunch, and while I did take some home... it was not even a meal (unless you count just the rice). Usually if I spend that, I get at least one other meal from the takeout. I guess I will have to just stick to making Korma at home when I want some. Not sure if I will be back.... read more

The Chicken Tikka Masala is really good! The chicken is high quality which I really appreciate! Medium spicy was pretty mild imo. The lunch buffet is very good! The chai, however, is very black pepper forward. Highly recommend this place! read more

The food was delicious and unexpected, there were comforting old curry dishes but also some fresh takes on Indian fare. They were out of chai, which I admit felt tragic. The service was friendly and prompt and the space was modern. My 14 year old gave it two thumbs up. read more

This place was good a year or two ago but has declined quite a bit. The lunch buffet is now $20 (50% more than Asian Buffet on Franklin!). The food was between lukewarm and cold at a mid-week lunch hour with only a few tables occupied. The only meat offered was chicken dark meat in three dishes. The tandoori chicken was tough and cold. The bbq chicken legs were sickly sweet. None of the dishes were particularly flavorful by Indian standards. Even the naan bread was dry and tough. Service has always been marginal. We wish them well but don't plan to return. read more

I've eaten at Royal India many times and have never once had a bad experience. I've gotten delivery as well as dined in and I highly recommend both. I almost always get the butter chicken with a side of naan or garlic naan. For delivery, the food comes in plastic containers like most curries do. You get a lot of food, enough for lunch the next day unless you have a big appetite. The containers are reusable so you can take out what you need and store the rest in the fridge for the next day. It keeps well and reheats well. For in-house dining, both the buffet and normal menu are great. There's usually something for everyone at the buffet, and it's reasonably priced for how good it is. The servers are nice and attentive and always make sure your water is topped off and your dirty plates are picked up. The restaurant itself is really nice and classy feeling. It's very clean and spacious with lots of seating. There is a lot of parking too. I've been going here every month or two for the past two years and I plan on keeping that up. I highly recommend this place for when you're craving delicious Indian food! read more

We reached here at 9:05 pm one night as we were driving into town from Portland. Although their website said they close at 9:30pm, we were told that seating is stopped at 9pm. I don't understand the point of that but nevertheless, we showed up for lunch the next day. We ordered a kadhai chicken and a chana masala with butter naan. The naans were just perfect. The kadhai chicken might have been one of the best we have had in the US. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Attentive, kind and helpful staff. Unfortunately the paneer cheese couldn't be added to any dish. I was craving it with vegetables together but it appears it had to be ordered separately based on the sauce. Overall the food was filling and I didn't feel stuffed after eating. The ambiance was definitely comfortable with booths that gave us wonderful back support. A variety of music was playing in the background. This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants! I've tried a few chicken curries and a lentil curry and they were all so good. Their rice is perfect too, I like brown rice but sometimes it's too dry, their brown rice is perfect. The garlic naan is also to die for. The workers are so so friendly and nice, they were smiling just about the whole time. So the office placed another delivery order with this restaurant and it again arrived missing multiple items or labeled one thing but made with the wrong selected protein. It's a fave of a coworker but FFS it's a restaurant! If someone orders shrimp butter masala and you make them chicken butter masala, that's a fail. If they order 4 packages of naan that previously included 2 pieces of naan each but you only send 3 packages that each have 1 piece, that's a fail. I came here for the first time on Saturday night and it was some of the best Indian food I've had in Oregon! Yes, in the state of Oregon! Eugene has really yummy Indian food and this was the only place we could find that had dine in. It didn't require proof of vaccination and it wasn't too busy, we were seated within a few minutes. The restaurant has low lighting making it great for a date night by yourself or an S/O. They were playing upbeat music and all of the staff was well dressed which made it have a fancy feel. The food is so tasty, everything was fantastic. The basmati rice was fragrant and butter, the naan was tender and flavorful and the main dish was full of spices and perfectly cooked tofu. I had left overs and had it for dinner again the next day! The samosas were mouthwatering and I couldn't get enough of the soft potato filling. Very attentive service, we were seated immediately and the servers checked in a few times during our meal too. Good gumdrops, the food was amazing! The makasala was robust with flavor and it was so rich. I typically like a little spice but erred on the side of caution and chose a mild heat. It was delicious! The buffet here is excellent. My wife and I stopped for a quick bite on the way to the airport. All the good standards are on the buffet - tasteful and spice laden. Pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! There is a certain level of taste I expect with Indian food, here in the US. Most of the time it hovers around disappointment with acceptance that it will never taste as good as back home. But Royal India stepped above that level. I got the Veg Kadai with paneer, Garlic Naan and brown rice. I asked for a spicy Veg Kadai and I did NOT get raw paprika added on top of the vegetable to make it spicy. I got a flavor of spicy meaning that the paprika was cooked into the curry. The garlic naan was thin, garlicky and well-made. The brown rice was pretty decent. I used Uber Eats to get the food, so can't comment on the location and service. But the food has definitely been better than a lot of Indian restaurants I've tried in medium-sized cities. read more

Sadly the quality of food and portions is not worth the price. Bowls of greens had 4 piece of arugula, Way to much red onion and only 4 very small slices of cucumber. Should be called a cabbage and carrot salad as that's the bulk, Not actual greens. One piece of Naan, the riata was yogurt water. So much corriander in the samosas thats all you can taste. The cashier offered a halfhearted apology, but no appetizer, drink, or the various other things restaurants offer when they screw up. The food turned out to be a disappointment, bland and nearly devoid of meat. The naan was burned and unsurprisingly dry. The rice was respectable, but that's the best I can say. Don't go here. Little gem of a place, servers were very friendly and helpful. Had a craving for some garlic naan, which by the way was very tasty. The three of use ordered 2 orders and we had some left over. Had to try their Samosa it was very good, but a bit expensive for 1 piece. The butter chicken was the best I have had. The sauce was cashew cream sauce and was so tasty. The chicken was tender no fat or dried out. My daughter had the chicken tikka masala which she loved . All the favors blended well. My husband had pork kadai, something new for him. It was delicious and all the spices mixed well with each other. All the dishes came with rice, at first looks like allot ,but it's just right since you need it for all the tasty sauces. Inside was very clean and it's nice they give you a full craft of water. None of our dish's were spicy since we choose mild . Their portion size is really big, we ordered two entrées for two people and ended up taking half of it to-go. Not the most authentic Dal Makhani I would say, but it was delicious and comforting.
