My partner and I grabbed some food from this food truck yesterday afternoon. We love Indian food and have it once or twice a month and wanted to try a new place so we went here. It's located in a little food truck alley on Main. It's the second food truck in the row so it's easy to spot. The employee (owner maybe?) walked into the truck when we arrived and took our order immediately. I ordered a mango lassi, butter chicken, and plain naan. My partner ordered the tandoori chicken and garlic naan. The food took about half an hour to come out which was fine as there was covered seating right there. We sat and called my partner's mom for Mother's Day. The food came out hot and smelled absolutely delicious. We took it home, about a 20 minute drive, and it was still hot when we ate. The mango lassi was good but a little small for the price. I finished it within 10 minutes of getting it. The butter chicken was fantastic. It was spiced well and was incredibly tender and flavorful. The rice it came with was also great. The plain naan was delicious and paired perfectly with the butter chicken. My partner found the tandoori chicken to be dry but I suspect that's what the yogurt sauce was for. He doesn't like yogurt so he didn't try it, but I think it probably would have been less dry with the sauce. His garlic naan was also good, he ended up having some left over which I put with my leftover butter chicken and am planning on having for lunch today. The food truck alley was quiet and clean with good seating. We didn't eat there since like I said we took our food home with us, but I think we would have enjoyed eating there too. There are plenty of covered picnic tables to choose from. I didn't see a bathroom nearby, not surprising since it's just a food truck alley. Overall I really enjoyed the food from this spot and definitely want to go back. It wasn't super expensive, and while it looks like a small amount of food it is actually incredibly filling and you will likely have leftovers for another day. Absolutely phenomenal food! I had the Chicken Tandoori, Garlic Naan (always have to have that) and the Lamb Biryani. This meal knocked any dinners I've had in a long time out of the ball park. Delicious. The Chicken Tandoori was cooked to perfection, the flavors were distinct and powerful. The chicken had a crispy coating with indian spices that were so good I can not even describe it. Truly the best Tandoori I have ever had (and I have had some good ones), The Lamb Biryani...the lamb was so tender and moist. The juices literally flowed out of it with each bite. The rice was very fresh and cooked evenly. The presentation was nicely done even though we had it delivered. Portions were great! I do not know how I have not heard of this place before. I eat a lot of authentic indian food as I work with some natives from India and they own an indian restaurant in Portland. So while you're enjoying your South Pacific tiki escape, remember that South Asia's land of mystery, India, is just steps away! I had the Veggie Pakora which was a just right savory snack (chaat) to accompany tiki drinks. Pakoras are savory little fritters made from various veggies, traditionally dipped in a chickpea/gram flour batter, then deep fried and served with a chutney sauce for dipping. Sardarni's pakoras were very good. They were lightly crispy (I personally prefer them to be just a bit more crispy) on the outside with a well seasoned filling of veggies. The tangy and slightly spicy Chaat masala makes these little fritters addicting...you won't stop until you're staring down at the harsh reality of an empty container. But don't fret for fritters... I can't say anything about the service or ambiance because it was an online order, but I will say that the vada pav was a spicy and nice surprise, and the chicken tikka masala was delicious, rich, spicy, and creamy (not watery). I will come back to review the desserts. When I have seen vada pav, it's been more snack size, not sandwich size, so that was a surprise. Hard to find otherwise around here. The jalebi could be considered India's take on the funnel cake-oily, delicious, and best eaten warm (I was tired when I was working through these foods, and battling some tummy indigestion to boot, but that was my issue, not the food's fault.) Gulab jamun are bread balls that have been deep fried and tossed in a sweet syrup. Not bad! The kaju katli is quite an interesting dessert-nutty, savory, sweet. It's hard for me to put my finger on it. Not sure if I would have it again. But not bad. The barfi is milky, with spices. I think I like barfi better than kaju katli. Both desserts aren't bad-it's more of a matter of preference. It's nice to branch out and try something different for a change! read more

The food was VERY disappointing. It did not taste good. It was very expensive. Ive eaten Indian food for years from home kitchens and restaurants. I'm almost angry about this meal. Vegi pakora (11.99) was very doughy, almost paste. Outside was soft. The basan, needed salt. If there were veg is in them they were mush. I couldn't tell I was eating anything other than the fried dough. I paid $3.99 for chutnies.i received 3 1-ounce cups. The tamarind chutney was overly sweet to the point the tamarind lost its tang. The red chutney was wet. That's really all I can say. It had zero flavor (strange). The green chutney was watery. It was bland. It had little herb flavor. The Dani puri ($7.99) was crisp and airy. I loved it. There was this strange little pile of, what I assume is, motzerella cheese and some yellow paste on top of it. Neither tasted like much of anything. Also came with a cup of this runny white stuff. I opened it and it smelt spoiled. Tasted a drop of it and it had to be spoiled. Yuck! Samosas chaat ($12.99) were awful. The chaat was very sweet and tasted like barbeque sauce. The samosas were mushy. You could not discern them from the chaat. Yelp had delivery fee listed as $1.49. In actuality it was $2.99. Additionally there was a $5.54 service fee. Not sure what the fee was. I wish I could get my money back. Most of the meal went in the trash. read more

Great flavors and service at Sardarni's. My kids love coming to the food truck and I love that I can order tiki drinks next door. I've started bringing my own bowls to eat from. That was some delicious Butter Chicken: big chunks of tender chicken in a mildly spicy Indian gravy. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water in anticipation. The rice with is was done right, fluffy and dry but not overcooked. Husband had the Lamb Curry dinner (also comes with rice) and really enjoyed it. Had to be bit careful eating it since it had some bones in it. Again, spices were delicious! We had some mango lassi (drink) with it and the little pieces of ginger in it were a nice touch. Not too sweet, but my golly, how filling! The Gulab Jamun was something I just wanted to try, not being familiar with it at all. It was definitely too sweet for me, all I tasted was syrupy sweetness but I guess that's why it is a dessert. We ordered it online thru Yelp, delivered to our door by Grubhub: fast and easy. I ate here a few months ago, late 2023, and it was great!!! The gave lots of chutneys, great complex spices, fluffy true naan. Today was the polar opposite. Chicken Tikka was 6-7 small bites of chicken in essentially tomato soup. Bread was flat and flavorless (garlic naan without flavor?). The best part was the rice, which was cooked to perfection. This food truck is an absolute hidden gem! We were on a road trip and were absolutely missing home cooked food. I didn't have much hopes from this place but wanted something to survive but was definitely pleasantly surprised. Their order wasn't ready at the time, but the lady was super sweet and offered us some hot chai. We ordered Dal Makhni and Aloo Paratha. It's a very home style cooking, with no crazy level of oil which was exactly what we needed. The Dal would remind you of Langar waali Dal and tastes great! Aloo Paratha was definitely a winner! I loved the pickle accompaniment as well, it's a pretty typical North Indian pickle which is surprisingly hard to find. I would definitely visit this place again when I am in town. Few food trucks can earn a five star in their first few weeks - Sardarni's easily pulled that off. Friendly family-run with high quality and amazingly authentic Indian food. Great selections with a diverse menu - I came especially for the chicken 65. Historically it's a blistering hot pub grub type dish - or street food - and this was excellent. I asked for "really hot," and while the deep red Kashmiri chili's had me break a light sweat it wasn't overly hot. Just right. Gonna get this one again and again! Also tried the aloo tikka - small app with three cakes and topped with chutney/sauce. Really flavorful and perfect size to share. Had the salty lemonade (of course) - perfect with the meal. My first time eating here it was 5 stars, I rated it that way and I raved about it. (I will leave that review below) It was the aloo gobi that really struck me as fantastic with an amazing depth of flavor. I have been back 3 more times to taste that delicious dish. To my extreme sadness, it has not been that good. It has been over salted and or not hot as well as just not having that depth of flavor that it did the first time. The person that I had the dish with the first time has been back themself 2 other times and did not feel like it was anywhere near as good. Something changed. I will give it some time to change back, then I will give it one more try. Until then I have to take away the 5 stars I originally rated it and rate it honestly as it has been. The last 3 times it has only been 3 stars. :( Bring back the delicious so I can enjoy it and rate this place 5 stars again. 1st experience; This place is amazing! The smell from this food truck is incredible, and had my mouth watering. I ordered the butter chicken, and was not disappointed. It was so flavorful and delicious. The chicken was tender, the rice was a great texture, it had a little spice and just tons of flavor. One of the best butter chicken dishes I've ever had. As a vegetarian I have become very fond of Indian cuisine. So when I saw there was a new Indian Food Truck in Springfield I was very excited to try them out. First of all, the ladies running the truck were lovely. Very sweet and personable and I appreciate that they took the time to demonstrate how to eat the pani puri because I really would not have known. Second, the food was good! I very much enjoyed the pani puri. It was a fun activity to assemble the perfect bit. My favorite thing though was the mango lassi. It was near perfection. A creamy beverage full of mango flavor and a subtle hint of ginger that delivers a fun little kick. I ordered their butter chicken for my husband and he really enjoyed it. He said the rice was cooked perfectly. My only note is I wish there were protein substitutions available for some of their meals. I would really love to try a butter tofu alternative or even a saag tofu. But that is my only critic. We had a wonderful lunch at Sardarni's kitchen. Sardarni's is new to the little food cart area next to the Dark and Stormy, which has outdoor tables, space, and shade. We ordered the lamb curry and butter chicken, and they didn't dissappoint--both curries were aromatic and delicious. Very different flavors from what I've come to expect from more Americanized restaurants, but definitely in a good way. The lamb was particularly tender and delicious. We also had a chance to try the chai tea, which was amazing (and I don't usually drink chai)! The lemonade was an experience--it was salty-sweet instead of sour-sweet, which came as a surprise, but I found it refreshing on a hot day. Service was prompt and cheerful. Prices were consistent with other local Indian restaurants (~$14/plate), but frankly the quality and flavors were better than anything I've had in town. They do need to update their menu to list prices. We'll be back soon to try some more of the menu! read more

So after ordering for the first time from a food truck and it's being Indian food I'm not sure if I would recommend it or not. I ordered over $50 dollars worth of food and maybe I should of just ordered one item to start with but I went all out. I got butter chicken, chicken 65, naan bread, samosas and another item I can't remember even know it was today ordering for such sakes lol.. The food was made fresh, nice and hot not spicy hot but temperature hot. When I started trying these new items I haven't had before I was turned off right from the first bite. The naan bread was delicious and fluffy and steaming. The rest was just too much spices for me. Honestly I can't give you guys the best review cause this is my first time trying Indian food and I'm not sure if the spices and flavor is suppose to be. The butter chicken was watery and sweet. Chicken 65 was very caked with spices, almost tacky texture but not hot spicy at all. The samosas I can say tasted why different than I had when I went to bora bora and the locals made it from scratch so I came in expecting high hopes for these and was let down. Overall the wait time for my food was 45 minutes and for the food to come out nice in hot was surly appreciated. I think I will give this place another try but maybe later on in the evening rather than right at open time 12noon. I'm giving this place 4 starts cause overall it wasn't bad experience just not sure if I'm a Indian food connoisseur. read more
