    Veggie Pakora
    Chuck M.

The Sardarni's Kitchen food truck is conveniently located right out the side door of the Monkey's Paw tiki bar. So while you're enjoying your South Pacific tiki escape, remember that South Asia's land of mystery, India, is just steps away! I had the Veggie Pakora which was a just right savory snack (chaat) to accompany tiki drinks. Pakoras are savory little fritters made from various veggies, traditionally dipped in a chickpea/gram flour batter, then deep fried and served with a chutney sauce for dipping. Sardarni's pakoras were very good. They were lightly crispy (I personally prefer them to be just a bit more crispy) on the outside with a well seasoned filling of veggies. The tangy and slightly spicy Chaat masala makes these little fritters addicting...you won't stop until you're staring down at the harsh reality of an empty container. But don't fret for fritters... Sardarni's will make more! That's not a "Naan" Sequitur!

We order on uber eats. Terrible. Burnt naan. Order two naan received one. Ordered butter chicken and it was tofu butter. Dry chicken tandoori

    Vada Pav

I can't say anything about the service or ambiance because it was an online order, but I will say that the vada pav was a spicy and nice surprise, and the chicken tikka masala was delicious, rich, spicy, and creamy (not watery). I will come back to review the desserts. When I have seen vada pav, it's been more snack size, not sandwich size, so that was a surprise. Hard to find otherwise around here. The jalebi could be considered India's take on the funnel cake-oily, delicious, and best eaten warm (I was tired when I was working through these foods, and battling some tummy indigestion to boot, but that was my issue, not the food's fault.) Gulab jamun are bread balls that have been deep fried and tossed in a sweet syrup. Not bad! The kaju katli is quite an interesting dessert-nutty, savory, sweet. It's hard for me to put my finger on it. Not sure if I would have it again. But not bad. The barfi is milky, with spices. I think I like barfi better than kaju katli. Both desserts aren't bad-it's more of a matter of preference. It's nice to branch out and try something different for a change!

Great flavors and service at Sardarni's. My kids love coming to the food truck and I love that I can order tiki drinks next door. I've started bringing my own bowls to eat from. Makes it much easier and less rice mess with a bigger container. Highly recommend you come try them. You won't be disappointed!!!

Butter Chicken with Rice Lunch. Mango Lassi (take out delivered by Grubhub)

That was some delicious Butter Chicken: big chunks of tender chicken in a mildly spicy Indian gravy. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water in anticipation. The rice with is was done right, fluffy and dry but not overcooked. Husband had the Lamb Curry dinner (also comes with rice) and really enjoyed it. Had to be bit careful eating it since it had some bones in it. Again, spices were delicious! We had some mango lassi (drink) with it and the little pieces of ginger in it were a nice touch. Not too sweet, but my golly, how filling! The Gulab Jamun was something I just wanted to try, not being familiar with it at all. It was definitely too sweet for me, all I tasted was syrupy sweetness but I guess that's why it is a dessert. We ordered it online thru Yelp, delivered to our door by Grubhub: fast and easy. The food was well packaged and delivered hot. Great!

I was very dissapointed with this restaurant. I recently moved to Eugene and wanted to find a good tandoori chicken. My son and I ordered delivery and the tandoori chicken was raw when it arrived. The other dishes were good but the experience was unaccept.

Butter chicken to go! The separate the rice and main dish so the rice does t turn to mush!

The butter chicken is really good. Really nice staff. I'll definitely come back. Located in food court at monkeys paw! Get mixed drinks or beer if you like with your meal.

This food truck is an absolute hidden gem! We were on a road trip and were absolutely missing home cooked food. I didn't have much hopes from this place but wanted something to survive but was definitely pleasantly surprised. Their order wasn't ready at the time, but the lady was super sweet and offered us some hot chai. We ordered Dal Makhni and Aloo Paratha. It's a very home style cooking, with no crazy level of oil which was exactly what we needed. The Dal would remind you of Langar waali Dal and tastes great! Aloo Paratha was definitely a winner! I loved the pickle accompaniment as well, it's a pretty typical North Indian pickle which is surprisingly hard to find. I would definitely visit this place again when I am in town. Bon appetit!

This indian food is the best in the area hands down. They have quite a few dishes and ones that are hard to find at restaurants.

The pakora are still really delicious-- crispy, well-seasoned, with nice variety. The mint chutney tasted like spoiled raw onions to me. It's a *weird* fake color, like food coloring, with a fake mint flavor. There don't seem to be fresh herbs in there--certainly if it has any fresh mint or cilantro, it's not a flavor you can taste. The tamarind chutney is extremely sweet, like a jam, without any sour tamarind flavor. It's a shame to serve delicious pakora with such sauces (the mint one I found truly inedible). The curry dishes are ok, not much different from what we can make at home, and the cost per dish is quite high, close to $20/dish. The toilet in the women's bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned in months. The dining room is clean, though. Overall, my impression of this restaurant has dropped since it opened and I'm not sure I'd return except just for pakora. The place was almost empty on Friday night. I'm sad about this, since Eugene has so few Indian restaurants.

We ordered a veg pakora combo, butter chicken, palak paneer, and garlic naan. The palak paneer was requested to be medium spicy and it was adequate. There was only a couple of pieces of paneer though. We had the same complaint with the butter chicken in that there was only a small portion of chicken included. The garlic naan was not quite as garlicky as experienced elsewhere but it was definitely hot and freshly made and was delicious and sizable. The veg combo was delicious as were the tamarind and mint chutneys. The restaurant was clean and inviting but the bathrooms could have been cleaner.

The gal told me that the lunch buffet will end in about 40 minutes and asked if it was okay with us. I said no problem. We go seated and got went to the buffet counter. It was a smaller selection than what we were used to but it didn't bother us. We got what we wanted to eat and enjoyed our food. Even though the buffet was closing soon, the cooks were still bringing items out. I was kinda expecting we were just going to get what ever is left, but everything was still coming out very hot and fresh. I didn't get seconds, but my daughter did. She's pregnant and said that the food really hit the spot for her and the baby. For me, that's a win! Thank you for the great food and service. We will definitely be back.

I was seated quickly, and brought water... I also ordered a Masala Chai. Once there, I found out they no longer have Lunch Specials, but opened a buffet ($17.95) instead. Apparently the website has been incorrect for over a year, but the owner has not fixed it. I did not really want buffet, although it looked decent. So I ordered the Chicken Korma ($19.95). Then I found out that unlike the lunch specials I was hoping for, they do not serve Naan with their dishes, so also ordered some Garlic Naan. The food was delivered to my table in a reasonable amount of time... and looked good, although I thought the portion of Korma was pretty small for the price. Korma description in the menu states it has cashews and raisins in it. I think I could taste some cashew, although there were no whole cashews like I have had at other restaurants with this dish... and no raisins either. It did taste strongly of curry leaves which overpowered the cashew flavor I love. But every cook does this dish differently. Large portion of rice was ok. Garlic naan was very thin, and lacked the chewy softness I expect from naan. This was just flat, no rise at all. Masala chai was lacking in flavor, but it was a large portion, which was nice. Service was very good... Ingrid checked on me repeatedly, and was very nice. For the price ($36+) with the tip, I felt like this was a very expensive lunch, and while I did take some home... it was not even a meal (unless you count just the rice). Usually if I spend that, I get at least one other meal from the takeout. I guess I will have to just stick to making Korma at home when I want some. Not sure if I will be back....

It was chilly, so we waited inside of the public house building in the middle of all the food trucks. The building had a welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted by a friendly bartender at the bar, there are high ceilings, and dim lighting with natural light coming from the large windows. Music was playing, but wasn't too loud. Seemed like a nice spot to work from home. There were a few people who had their laptops plugged in at the tables. The crunch wraps were warm when they arrived, but still crunchy on the outside. I ordered my chicken crunch wrap extra spicy and it had a good amount of heat. The vegan crunch wrap was equally filling and flavorful. The marsala fries were a let down; they were the regular fries with a little drizzle of sauce and black sesame sprinkled on top. I wouldn't pay extra to order it again since it tasted just like the regular fries. We ordered the natural root beer in the public house which tasted refreshing and much better than the canned stuff you get at the grocery store. It paired well with the rich, creamy crunch wraps. I am slowly eating my way through the food carts at tThe Barn at Hickory Station and this time I…read moretried the Indian food at Sandirk's Rasoi. The menu has a large selection of standard Indian food fare, including vegetarian and meat dishes. It's for your Greatest Hits of Indian food without getting two deep, although except for one snack of fish fritters, the only meat available is chicken. That being said, I'd like to try every one of the meat dishes. Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry, Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Biryani...yes, please. My partner FINALLY got me to a place to enjoy Indian food. As this was my first time here, though, I opted for the most basic of dishes and went with the Butter Chicken. Chicken pieces in a tomato curry sauce, this is usually a signature dish of any restaurant and how a place makes it seems to largely determine how good everything else is, in my opinion. So ordering was fast and easy. I was asked how spicy I wanted it. I said "as spicy as you can make it." The man at the window smirked at that and I confirmed I was serious, and saw him wrote "spicy +" on my ticket, so I think he took it seriously then. Honestly, so many times my partner and I ask for "spicy" and get a bland mild....like we don't know what spicy is. To be fair, I know a lot of places get complaints for being "too spicy" when someone doesn't known what they're doing, but we really like it hot and don't need to be protected. Anyways, I ordered that and some garlic naan. When my order was ready, it came bagged up with my food, a paper plate, and a knife and fork disposable bag kit. The chicken itself was in a plastic sealed cup and there was a box of basmati rice. It was also very hot, temperature wise. I waited for my partner to get her seafood and then I went to town. Long story short (too late), it was good. There was A LOT of chicken, the curry was very spicy without being overpowering, but I definitely felt it. It was a hot day outside and the food did it's job of making me sweat and cooling me down. The sauce was wonderful and was great with the rice as well as why dipping the naan. The naan was standard but had a good, not heavy, garlic flavor. A bit dry but it is an unleavened bread. I dipped it in the curry and it was quite good. So far this has been one of my favorite meals at the Barn, and I'm looking forward to going back and trying the tandoori and the biryani.
