I only had the mysore masala dosa here and it was delicious, more the spicyness of a normal masala dosa bur very delicious none the less. The service here was super attentive! We ordered vegetable samosas, which were huge, crunchy, not greasy, and flavorful. We also had a beer and glass of wine. The wine and beer selections were just enough. The drinks, appetizers, and main dishes were well timed. I get a little irked when the entrees arrive seconds after the appetizer, or your drinks come after the food. Also, our water was never empty! Great service! Hubby had the tandoori chicken thali and I had the bhindi masala thali. The presentation was perfect, with plenty of naan that was just right: crisp in the outside, but soft and pillowy on the inside. My okra was cooked perfect and the masala was yummy. Ordered my food to go. Customer service was great. My food was amazing. My favorite dish was the Mushroom mutter. I could have had another order of that. I ordered mango chutney since I like it on some of my vegetable pakora. The vegetable pakora comes with its own sauce I just did not order extra of it. I have had better. The vegetable samosa are delicious and have a sauce that it comes with that make it taste even better. But again did not get enough of it. Not enough sauce don't know if that is my fault or if the restaurant should provide more. P.S. I can't comment on the place since I did not eat at the location. This is the first Indian spot I have tried in Eugene, so I'm not sure how it compares to the others. The food was good but it took a little while to come out. I got the bread with my dish but looking at the other costumers meals I would have gotten the rice. Evergreen was a great place to meet up with friends for a dinner out! The staff was very friendly and helpful in suggesting dishes for us to order. We tried three different dishes- malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, chicken koorma- and everything was so delicious. The chicken koorma was my favorite. We also ordered the samosas as an appetizer and even though it only comes with two usually, they brought us three since there were three of us. That was so sweet of them! We had dinner tonight at Evergreen Indian Food, and I have to give a huge shout-out to Valli, our server. She was absolutely incredible! On a packed Friday night, she was running the entire dining room -- at least a dozen tables -- and answering multiple phones, all while staying calm, kind, and attentive. What impressed me most was her attitude: she never stopped smiling, she treated everyone with genuine care, and she somehow made us feel looked after even though she was juggling so much. She mentioned it was her first week, which made it even more impressive -- she handled it like a total pro. Valli is a rock star, and she's the kind of person who makes you want to come back. Evergreen is lucky to have her, and I'll definitely be returning not only for the food but because of the excellent service she provided. read more

I can't say anything about the ambience or the service, because this was an online order. The food was quite good. Generous portions, and huge chunks of chicken! It was a little soupy though, and not as creamy as some others that I have tried. Good mango lassi, but not as creamy as some of the others that I have tried. Good restaurant otherwise! I'm giving it 5 stars for the food, but I wish the ambiance inside was better. It is nondescript and really quiet... like too quiet. But, back to the food. Their samosas are a favorite of mine, though they are a bit spicy. I like that they come with several types of sauces. Their saag paneer has a nice amount of cheese. I'm not a fan of restaurants that skimp on the paneer. The chicken Tikka masala and Tandori lamb kabobs were delicious and had a flavorful sauce. My wife and I love Indian food on cold rainy nights, and Evergreen is rapidly becoming our go to spot. We've ordered to go both times we went, with the wait time around 30 minutes each time. Their naan is very good. Fluffier than I'm used to; almost reminiscent of pita. I had the chicken karahi, a Pakistani dish that was unfamiliar to me, and I was not disappointed. The portion was mostly meat, with bell peppers and onions in a tomato, garlic, and ginger sauce. I've got a decent spice tolerance (I'm fine with the Fire sauce at Taco Bell), and I didn't feel like this was spicy at all. Somewhere between mild and medium. The only downside is that it's fairly pricey, easily $16+ per person before tip. If this was in the $13 range it would feel like a steal and we'd probably be here more often. As it is, we have to reserve it for date nights. read more

I just had the Chicken Tika Masala, so good, especially dipping the hand made flat bread in the sauce. I still think my last dish I got was my favorite the SAAG PANEER.. Evergreen is one of my Eugene staples. The food is so good and there's so much of it--their chicken makhani and mixed veggie pakoras are my go-tos. The location has lots of seating for bigger groups and is clean and comfortable! The service is hella fast and everyone that works there is great. I love that they have Coke, too! I love evergreen! Their samosas are super big and filling. Great flavor, and love their sauces. I always order their chicken tikka masala. I pretty consistently get the same medium heat level. Occasionally it's a little extra spicy, but I like it. Another fav is their saag paneer. Their paneer is nice an large. The greens in the saag have texture. Really nice and creamy. The veggie korma is also another favorite of mine. Nice sweet flavor and box of vegetables. The customer service is always on point and I miss their old location, but that is only because it was more convenient and festive. Not the most affordable place for one person with my wanting everything on the menu, but they do offer a complete dinner for less than $20. It is well worth every penny! read more

We hadn't been to Evergreen Indian Restaurant since they moved the business to 7th St. But we are so glad that we came. We started off with an Onion Pankora appetizer. We had never tried it before. They call it a chickpea dumpling, but it is actually deep fried and tastes a lit like onion rings. They serve a nice big plate full, with three different sauces to dip it in. It was delicious! A sign on the door read that they were only open for take out during lunch due to being short staffed however we did see one table of people eating, I asked the staff if they were seating or just take out and one person said that dining was open while another yelled take out. A hole-in-the-wall Indian place is usually one of the first places I try to find whenever I move to a new city. It's my version of having a restaurant comfort blanket that I can go to when the mood strikes. Is Evergreen THE place to go in the Eugene area? Let's start with the food. The dosa was delicious: crispy, good flavor, and that show-stopping appearance, check. The entrees: baingan bharta, saag paneer, malai kofta, and aloo gobi were tasty - not the most flavorful I've had, but it did the job. The naan was hot and fresh. Service: they must have been a little short the day I visited. One server and another lady that was either manager or owner who was trying to help out as well. There were five or six parties that came in around the same time and it took a while to get everyone's order. When we were attended to, the server was friendly and unhurried. For the price point, I do think the ambiance could have been a bit better. The booths looked a little dated and worn. I arrived when the restaurant was just opening and within 15-30 minutes, there was a strong smoky smell that permeated the dining area. In my experience, that usually means the food is going to be great, but it did cause some consternation with a couple seated next to us thinking there was a fire in the kitchen. From your traditional curries to chicken masala and my fav chicken biryani, everyone is always happy with their lunch order. So handy to have delivery and it's always quick and on time. My favorite part is there are gluten free option plus vegetarian options as well. Ordering for a lot of people can be challenging but Evergreen Restaurant won't disappoint in options. My new favorite place! Oh my god!! The food is amazing! Flavorful, always comes out fresh and hot! The people who work here are absolutely amazing everytime. We came for the first time 2 months ago and we've been 3 times since! We just came for the buffet that they do some weekends and for $22 a person it's all you can eat and refillable fountain drinks! This was the first time for me here at their new location. Having spent so many years right on Franklin, it seems a bit weird to now come to this location but it is, what it is. With a very nice and new remodel, you have your traditional buffet line with several different options to choose from. Not seeing anything I wanted, decided to order off the menu. A chicken Tikka Masala and a lamb vindaloo were the options today. For me the Tikka was all the correct flavor and delicious, however seemed to me to be in the watery side. Not sure if it was made a little different or just not enough cream, it lacked that special oommfff that I have come to love with the Tikka. Maybe all of it's glorious ability to coat Nan or your basmati rice. For me that's the bomb. The vindaloo which I always get with lamb, was right where I have come to expect my Vindaloo. The lamb chunks were just the right size with nice chunks of potato. Loved this and wish I could have had a trough full of this, but my diet won't allow. Not sure why. GET TAKEOUT We've ordered takeout from Evergreen on 7th several times, spent less than 50$ for two and had leftovers FOR DAYS. This last Saturday, we took my SIL from Maine to the restaurant for her birthday and had the worst experience (except the food and company). It was busy at first and we waited to be seated, then we waited 20 mins for menus and another 10 for water, after that we only saw our "waitress" two more times, for a beer refill and to bring the check---THE TOTAL OF WHICH WHICH SHE ANNOUNCED LOUDLY AT THE TABLE. We have never, from NYC to Oregon, ever had someone come up and announce the total in front of the party, and then we're supposed to be responsible for taking the electronic bill thing back to the counter. Sorry, no. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. There was no music, so it was very awkward being able to hear everyone's conversation, until the owner sat behind us and played music loudly on his cell phone. They had all their Costco food boxes piled to the ceiling in the dining area right in front of us, and I kept expecting a mouse to scamper through the mess. Both servers were standoffish and uninterested and we were just about to get up and look for one both times one finally appeared. Once we'd been there for 30 mins, there were only two or three other tables occupied but not a server to be seen for any of us. I could barely hear/understand the girl who brought our food out, she mumbled our orders, and I know it's not hard to remember the beer of the night. We spent twice as much for less food than takeout, it took 40 mins to get our appetizers, the service was wretched, the atmosphere dismal and even downright annoying and yucky, I honestly am flabbergasted at our bill being announced like that in front of the birthday girl we were trying to treat and not have worry about the cost, but everything tasted all right. read more

Ordered mutter paneer, a staple dish. Received shahi paneer with pees added. incredibly lazy and incorrect dish. Mutter paneer is a tomato based curry, sometimes with a small amount of cashews to make it a bit richer. Shahi paneer uses a heavy creamy curry. If an Indian restaurant can't even make Indian food correctly, and instead lazily reuse an incorrect curry... why even be in business. Food is excellent and what you would expect from a home cooked Indian meal. What I mean by that is that it tasted and was presented as if someone's mom or grandma was in the kitchen making all of the food and it's so tasty. The spice level was right on. Service was a little slow but out server was pleasant and to be fair, we showed up an hour before close, so it could have just been a staffing issue.
