Costa Rica itself was absolutely beautiful, and the itinerary included some great destinations like Arenal, Tamarindo, Monteverde, and San José. Once everything was in place, the trip itself was very enjoyable and memorable. We did experience some challenges leading up to and during the trip, particularly with communication and some logistical issues around accommodations and reimbursements. That part of the process was stressful, and communication at times was more difficult than we would have liked. That said, I do want to acknowledge that Cody genuinely tried his best throughout the process, and once Danielle became involved, everything was handled professionally and thoroughly. Danielle ultimately sorted out the reimbursement issue, followed through on what was promised, and helped bring the situation to a fair resolution. We truly appreciated her stepping in and taking the time to resolve things properly. While the communication could have been smoother overall, we're grateful that Travel by Jen stood by their commitment in the end. The rest of our trip went very well, and Costa Rica was an amazing destination. Thank you to Cody and especially Danielle for ensuring the issue was resolved.

These agents don't know what they're talking about and sent us on a nine day trip to Costa Rica…read morewith five days of driving all day long! Our agent, Nick, told us that we needed to drive to see the country, but I explicitly said I didn't want to spend ALL DAY driving. This was the worst vacation we have ever had and it was exhausting trying to get anywhere. Traffic of course is terrible in Costa Rica, but the plan that was laid out for us was also just terrible. This guy didn't know what he was talking about when he booked us and when I tried to change things he was not helpful. I even asked about adding trip Insurance and he said it was too late because we had already booked the airfare. This trip was a disaster all the way around. When we got to Costa Rica we waited three hours for our rental car and ended- up getting nowhere calling Nick, so requested a supervisor at Travel By Jen..who was also unhelpful... first it was suggested that we run out into the street and flag down the rental van when we saw it... Lol! So much more ridiculousness and runaround ensued rather than Travel by Jen/Jet Set Vacations trying to help us! Then it was suggested by this 'supervisor Danielle, after finally getting the rental car and getting on our way, that we just stop and sleep somewhere for the night. I couldn't believe this because there were no motels or hotels along our route to stop at, nor did this 'supervisor' Danielle, offer to take care of our expenses incurred due to our delay at the airport for our car! Suffice it to say she was talking to us like she was our mother and making suggestions to placate my husband and I, but not doing anything to actively help our situation or improve the trip or pay for a motel/hotel, even if we could find one on our first night. We had to travel through mountains and along cliffs and on back roads to get to our first destination about 4 hours further, (after waiting three hours) which was already paid for. Supervisor Danielle was terrible and obviously just full of BS, because she certainly didn't understand what we were encountering, nor did she care. Travel agents are supposed to help you get the trip you want, and if you can't get it, not just book you anyway. This Nick guy we entrusted our travel plans with booked us on a ridiculous trip, driving mostly and seeing very little...we would not have approved of this without knowing the incredible distances we would have to drive; he either didn't know the actual time it would take (doubtful), or lied by omission and said "two hours or so", and I even hesitated at this; then he said we had to live with it because he had already booked everything! Unbelievable! Told us that driving was part of seeing Costa Rica. But I've talked to people who have been there and had a much nicer vacation and didn't drive all day long, got to explore and see the sites. Obviously if all you do is drive you're too exhausted to really see anything. We never even got to see the volcano because we were so exhausted from driving there was no time left. Also, If you want an all-inclusive vacay you don't go to Costa Rica either... it is a place to explore. However, seeing the country in nine days is pretty impossible; you need to divide it in half at least, and see parts within an hour or so drive and perhaps come back to this country. Not spend your entire trip driving all over the place through horrible back roads and into the night when you're wanting to relax. You need to get where you're going so that you can rest up and see the sites the next day. This was just so bad it's hard to explain it all here. We also encountered problems with water at one so-called 4 star resort. We stayed at three places total and they were all less than the stars stated, with actually one 3 star being the nicest, but it didn't have any amenities. We supposedly were staying at two 4 star resorts and one 3 star, but they were probably two and three stars. This vacation was so terrible I can't even express it. Never will use this travel agency again! The absolute worst I have ever had the misfortune of using. Probably best to keep reading all these reviews... there are quite a lot of bad ones and I'm sure the three star rating is going to drop pretty soon...they'll probably go out of business eventually; but beware because they could just change their name. I'll never book again with an agency without thoroughly reading reviews and talking to people about their experience. In reading the reviews here I noticed that the responses from Travel by Jen to the bad reviews sound very snotty and full of excuses from the agency itself. Don't let them fool you... They are masters at manipulating you into a trip and selling you on something that isn't of the value you pay for, whether you're booking a five star or a three star vacation it appears you don't get what you pay for here. This agency needs to look in the mirror and do an overhaul of their attitude and their services!

Room was filthy, Roaches in the bathroom. Hairs on the bedsheets. Paint peeling from ceilings.TV did not work at all. We slept in our clothes at the end of the bed, as we were afraid to sleep on what looked like dirty sheets. So much drug activity going on all night, people peeing in stairwell, homeless people sleeping on sidewalks in front of rooms, emotionally disturbed/drug addict lurking around rooms and vehicles. All this luxury for $200 per night. Washed my face with a towelette from my travel bag in the morning. Too grossed out to shower. DO NOT listen to anyone who is praising this place. They must be getting paid for their compliments. Truly horrible experience.

I have to disagree with Terra here! Yeah, the Sunrise is nothing special from the outside (it used…read moreto be a Clarion or something equally budget-y) but it's been recently renovated and the rooms are actually very nice. Ok, so I'll preface this by saying that I get an airline discount since I am a Flight Attendant. So I've never paid full price, in fact I don't even know what it is. And they don't nickle and dime you to death. This hotel is extremely popular with airline commuters. There are flight attendants and pilots who stay here on a very regular basis - so much so that they know everyone who works at the hotel. I've only stayed at the Sunrise 3 times, but I'd definitely go back again. The hotel staff is very friendly and they treat us well. As said above, the rooms have been renovated. They are very nicely decorated (for a budget hotel) - in warm gold tones. The bathrooms have marble countertops. There is a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave in every room. There is also FREE high speed internet in every room, which to me is huge. The beds are very comfortable - honestly the mattress rivals the heavenly beds at Westins. The hotel is directly across from the train station if you need to get around. There are is shopping nearby (I believe Target, TJ maxx, etc.) and a grocery store all within walking distance. I've gotten chinese and italian delivered. They offer a typical budget hotel free breakfast in the mornings. There is a free shuttle service from JFK every 30 minutes. I'm not sure about LGA, you'd have to call them and ask. They will also take you to a gym (I believe it's a Bally's) at no charge. So this hotel has everything that airline commuters want, and we stay in alot of hotels - clean rooms, comfortable beds, food nearby, friendly staff, near the airport, and a reasonable price.

I called right away and their phones were flooded (understandably) because of the Living Social deal. Booked the limo for three days out (called on Thursday for use early Sunday morning - 1:30am). When I finally got through, they were very accommodating. Keath was great to work with. I got a call randomly the night of my bachelorette party from someone asking if I wouldn't mind if they changed the time. I flipped out a bit and they backed off. I had made the reservation and did nto want to use it another night or at another time. Anyway, they were understanding. John our driver was excellent. Limo was clean. He helped us get in to and out of the limo. The only downside was that there were only two sodas in the limo. We had just left a club and water bottles would have been really nice at that point, but it wasn't something they advertised so I can't hold it against them. All in all, a good experience.

Regal Limousine... what an ironic name. There was nothing 'regal' about the limo for my wedding…read more The driver, Keith, who also is the owner, never pulled the limo up to the door. He double-parked and I had to squeeze some eleven layers of tulle between parked cars. He never offered to move the car so I could avoid rubbing an expensive white dress on the outside of two filthy cars- the parked one, and the Rolls Royce limo hubby had paid for. It rained the night before, so really, all Regal had to do is leave the car out overnight and it would have cleaned itself. Keith spent the drive yammering away on his cell phone while he took the longest route possible to the venue. We drove past... no joking here... minimum five housing projects, and a freaking stable! Yes, a stable! Somewhere in the middle of the ghetto in Brooklyn there is a stable. When the kids from the projects started yelling questions at the driver, he rolled his window down to shout answers back.... really luxurious trip so far, huh? (Later, he tried to charge hubby 'overtime fees', which is probably why he took the long way. I suggested he take the Belt to the Van Wyck. I'm pretty sure the GPS he kept staring at told him the same thing.) So, okay, in the limo, on the way to the wedding... The roof has water damage. Classic cars should still be classy, and not run-down. Otherwise, they aren't "classic", they're just old. I ask if I can have a cigarette. The answer is 'no', but that's about the extent of politeness from the driver, other than him opening/ closing the limo door. I guess classic cars don't have radios, as we rode in silence, punctuated by Keith making sales calls as he drives. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to yammer away on a cell phone. I got to hear all about one client's late flight, which is of course, just what I care about when this guy is taking an eternity to get me to the venue. By the way, after the wedding, hubby told me there was supposed to be a bottle of champagne in the limo. I hadn't thought to ask, and of course, the driver was too busy being inattentive to mention it. Dude, I don't care about your other clients. Having been in customer service, I know you are supposed to treat me like I am your only client--- especially because at the time, I AM. When I ask you not to drive me through the hood, you should listen. The limo is dirty, it's not stocked, it has no radio.... but ultimately, the owner/ driver was the reason this is a one-star review. If you are going to call yourself 'regal', then treat clients like they're royalty... not like we're peasants.
