I have used Great Value Vacations for a few amazing trips. The Northern Lights in Iceland, the Eiffel Tower in Paris as well as the Parthenon in Athens to name a few. They are super easy to use, very helpful if any trouble arise and a great value!!! During one of our trips, a flight was cancelled and they reached out immediately to get us re-booked and told us if we had any costs because of it to use our trip insurance(which we had) would reimburse us and they did! The packages are pretty fantastic! In Iceland we did so many adventures that we may not have booked on our own. They make it so easy to see so much, if you want, or not!!! The cost for our trip was unbelievable for all of the tours, transportation, etc. AMAZING customer service. You would be a fool to not use them! read more

Our trip to Ireland was phenomenal. Using Great Value Vacations made everything easy. All we had to do was pack and enjoy. Having a package made all the difference. We loved staying at Adare Manor and the little town of Adare. So glad we stayed in one spot for 6 nights and it was centrally located for our daily excursions. Then off for two nights in Dublin. Our package included flights, stay, car and excursions. Would recommend them. read more

Bait and Switch. We booked the heavily advertised Tuscan Castle Experience 10 months in advance. Paid for the trip at that time and received confirmation of our stay at the castle. Two months before the trip, out of nowhere, GVV tells us we can't stay at the castle due to "operational reasons" and will explain that no further. To be sure, the castle is up and running and GVV continues to book the vacations. (When i checked with the hotel they said they made a mistake and sold our room to someone else). GVV forced us into an airbnb more than an hour away from the Castle, and an hour and a half away from the "suggested add ons" for the trip, which take place in Florence. As far as i can tell, they advertise the Castle and then move you to an underperforming property, and they do so too late for you to do anything about it. When i complained about the alternative accommodation choices, one of which involved sleeping on a sofa bed, they offered a refund of $580 dollars, with which we were apparently supposed to book accommodations for four people for six nights. Maybe if they had told us ten months ago that our confirmed stay wasn't real we could have tried to find alternatives, but now there is nothing, and certainly not for four people for six nights. The customer service manager was hostile, acting like i was unreasonable for wanting the stay i booked and paid for which they confirmed 10 months before the trip. read more

I have used this company for a few tips: The Galapagos Islands, The Baltics, and Colombia. They really take the stress out of traveling. I have not had any issues with any of the trips. They have a lot of really great deals depending on the airport that you fly out of. I like to do some research on the rooms and make sure I'm aware of the schedule. The only downside is that they never have any last minute trips available-- you need to book months in advance. read more

Very poor value. I could have booked the same hotels for half the price using any hotel booking site. I also would of had a better hotel had I booked myself. THe airfare was even worse. They do not tell you that your flights require a connection and are basic economy. Therefore no assigned seats. An easy 6 or 7 hour flight to Europe is routed through Canada. That makes the flight time terrible and makes the flight take TWICE as long. I could have flown non stop for the same price, and paid less for the hotel. BAD VALUE for anyone that has any prior travel experience. read more

We are back from the Norway trip. It was excellent overall. The first hotel was definitely not newly renovated but it was not dirty. Location was doable but with bus & metro. Breakfast was wonderful! The second hotel that we paid to upgrade to was beyond wonderful. I wish GVV offered upgrades at every location of trips. It has always been worth it. Second, everything was in place and ready for us - airlines, transfers, rental cars, ferries, hotels, tours, etc. finally, when you travel with GVV, you get to experience the fun and let go of the worries associated with schedules and being in an unfamiliar place. I've been a loyal customer of Great Value Vacations for years, booking around 5-6 trips with them. Sadly, after my most recent experience, this will be the last. I paid around $12,000 for a trip to Europe that included an "upgraded" hotel package. However, the first hotel we arrived at was anything but upgraded. The exterior was boarded up, the interior was worn, outdated, and the room was unacceptable: Stains on the carpet, a shower drain that didn't function, old, damaged furniture. It was so bad we refused to stay there and immediately booked another hotel out of our own pocket. When we returned, I reached out to Great Value Vacations to explain the situation and request a reasonable refund for that portion of the trip. At first, they responded quickly -- but after that initial exchange, I reached out three more times and have been completely ignored. No updates, no resolution, no follow-through. This experience is not only disappointing -- it's disrespectful to loyal customers. I gave them multiple chances to address the issue privately and fairly. Instead, I'm now left with a significant expense and zero accountability on their part. I'm writing this review to help others make an informed decision. If you're considering booking with Great Value Vacations, be aware: the "upgrades" may not match expectations, and if something goes wrong, you may be on your own. read more

The terms of the package deal were clear, so we knew exactly what to expect. When I calculated similar travel plans the package was nearly $500s more per person. We're off to a rocky start. I booked my vacation package to Hawaii just a few days ago and today noticed that my credit card was charged a higher amount than the quoted package. It was only by 1 cent, but it's still an overcharge, it's deceptive and it's against the law. If they are doing this to everyone, that adds up to a lot of money. Check your receipts! The person I initially spoke to on the phone was dismissive and incredulous that I wanted my penny refunded. You bet I do. I worked in consumer protection my entire career, so this really irks me. We'll see if they refund me. Update, I was refunded very quickly and notified by phone. We're really looking forward to our vacation! read more

I have traveled with Great Value Vacations on three separate occasions. I have visited London, Paris, Prague, Iceland during the trips. Without Great Value vacations, I would not have even checked into going to these places thinking it would be price prohibitive. The first trip to London was a leap of faith. Great Value walked me through passports and travel documents and gave me a blow by blow itinerary. The price was very affordable and the experiences were wonderful and just as promised. The accommodations were nice and conveniently located to everything planned. This trip combined escorted side trips and explore on your own again all went as expected. So, I could afford to travel without worry with this company. They took my family of 7 to Iceland. I opted for an escorted trip this time since there were several people to coordinate. This trip went great and followed the itinerary to a tee and the tour guide was fantastic. on this trip the accommodations were basic but clean. Two trips went great so I tried again. This time first Paris then Prague. This trip was planned by them for travel and time from from location to location and the rest was up to us. Great Value did their job, plane reservations transfers and accommodations. Gave me an itinerary to follow and they held up their end. Paris hotel was again basic and clean and better than I would expect for the price I paid for the trip. Then they flew us to Prague. They had a stunning hotel that looked over the city with a courtyard all amenities and doors on the rooms that were six inches deep. It was located within walking distance of everything. Great Value Vacations has made an Indiana Farm girl an International traveler by taking the question marks away. I always knew I had a trip there and home and a place to stay while I was there and those things were paid for and they gave me all docs necessary to have the basics. From that point they let you choose what level of services you want. Pay for extra excursions with them or a full on tour guide with a plan or the hit what you want when you want plan. They even have some trips with a rental car in it. I have not used that option so I can not vouch for it. When you see the initial price go into it knowing this is a basic price from JFK and the trip will be a little higher than what is laid out right away. The trip will increase in price according to when you travel and where you leave from and what self exploration or excursions you want. Nothing is paid for with out all costs laid out. There are no extras later. Travel insurance is available and expensive and probably a good idea with today's world so think about adding that in too. The basic price listed is probably that plus about $500 by the time you buy your flight from a home airport and get the date you want then buy insurance. Bbuut, those prices are never secrets and don't surprise you. it is all disclosed by the time you pay the first penny to the company. I am funny about hidden prices and will walk away from any deal that is not upfront with price and these guys were upfront and did not book anything without telling the full price before. Try them. I returned a few days ago from a nine-day vacation in Southern Italy with GVV and did not have a good experience with customer service. They sent me wrong voucher, even though I called a few times before my flight. After I arrived, I didn't have any Hotel reservations under my name. I was around the city for the first few hours, which was a very stressful situation. No one called me back on customer service, and email said we would review your request in 3-5 business days :( and no one in the hotel was responsible for helping me out. I booked a 10-day trip to Ireland for my husband and myself in 2019. The trip included airfare, car rental, one-night at a hotel in Waterford, and a voucher for bed and breakfasts that we could schedule on our own for the rest of the trip. At the time, there were roughly 5 or 6 flight options to choose from. Coming from San Diego, it was going to be a long journey regardless, so we found a flight that would get us to Ireland at a reasonable hour. One downfall of the itinerary is that the first night HAD to be in Waterford, meaning that after a really long day of travel, we needed to rent a car and make the 2 hour drive South to Waterford. We were able to forfeit the first night's stay and book another place out of pocket, but we were trying to save some money and went straight to the required location. Ultimately I'm so glad we did because one of the highlights of my entire trip was renting a bike and cruising down the Waterford Greenway - it was gorgeous and gave us the opportunity for some exercise and enjoy the beautiful day. The bed and breakfast voucher was held through another third party which made it pretty easy to schedule and reserve. There were tons of options and this package let us set our own itinerary (minus the first night in Waterford). Overall, Ireland was a FANTASTIC trip and my husband and I still talk about it often. I never had to interact with Great Value Vacations once the package was purchased so I don't have much to input regarding their customer service, insurance claims, or any other issues. Given the experience I had, I would book with them again and I definitely prefer bundles that give us a flexibility so that we can make it the vacation that we truly want and not compromise to fit the company's schedule. **Side Note - We had some hiccups with the auto insurance; the travel insurance policy I purchased didn't specifically say "The Republic of Ireland", so the rental company wouldn't accept it. Due to the time zone change, it was tough to get a rep on the phone and even when they did, they weren't able to change the verbiage to match what the rental company wanted so in the end we needed to add the auto insurance policy to our rental fees which was an additional $250. This wasn't GVV's fault since we went with an outside company, but please make sure you ask your travel insurance company if you will be covered before you buy!!** read more

When you decide to visit Dubai, definitely consider Great Value Vacations. They made our first visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi one for the ages! Beginning with how easy it was to plan and pay for our big excursion. They arranged transportation to and from our 4 star hotel. Upon our arrival at the Dubai airport I was so excited to see my name on the driver's plaque, I even took a pic of it! GVV was just getting started with their attention to details. They arranged a personal tour guide, who transported us to all of our amazing events. Camel riding, 4-wheeling in the desert, shopping at the most beautiful mall in Abu Dhabi, visiting the breathtaking temple, visiting the unbelievable markets in one of Emirates, museum visits, plus more. I've booked two packages through GVV - a Tuscan roadtrip with a castle stay, and a 10-day Ireland roadtrip. Both were great! I loved the flexibility of the Irish trip, where GVV gave me vouchers but I got to choose which B&Bs I stayed at. And with GVV booking the flight, rental car, and hotel vouchers, the trips were much cheaper than what I could have done by booking on my own. I reached out to customer service a couple of times with simple questions and they got back to me within a few days. I had a 5 day guided tour to Northern Ireland with 2 days prior in Dublin. My flights were booked by GVV with JetBlue. My flight from ATL to JFK was delayed about an hour and a half, so we missed our connecting flight from JFK to Dublin. Neither JetBlue nor GVV worked with us to reimburse for hotel that night in JFK. GVV did pay for us to change our return flight one day later, but not that additional night at the same hotel booked in advance. So in addition to the full trip fee, I paid 2 additional hotel nights, one in JFK and one more in Dublin. The 5 day tour was amazing, but beforehand GVV couldn't give me any details of the tour company's name, or our stops along the way. Just to meet across the street from a street address. Again, the tour was incredible, but we had very little information in advance. I will probably not book with GVV in the future, and will only book with a company that uses Delta Airlines to have more options flying out of Atlanta. read more

My first time with great value vacations and they delivered. I was very surprised at the quality of the hotels we stayed. Even the car was great and, believe me, you want a car you feel good in in Ireland when all you ever learned about driving is twisted a bit and the lanes are narrow. But we had the best time and they throw in excursions. We couldn't do them all but the Pearse Lyons Distillery was amazing. I'd go again. In fact, I bought some of the product. My husband and I booked an 11 day Greek Isles vacation for April 2024 with Great Value Vacations upon recommendation by a friend who had booked other trips through them before. We were a little apprehensive bc we had had less than ideal experiences with other travel services but to our delight every single thing about this trip was fantastic. We took various flights during the 11 days, also took several water taxis and stayed in numerous hotels and resorts all of which exceeded our expectations. Great Value Vacations arranged all the transfers to the various places we had to get to to board whatever transportation or hotel we were going to that day and we never once had to wait for them or wonder if they would be there at the specified time. Before our trip home, this was a solid 3 star vacation. My wife and I usually plan our own trips, hotels, airfare, the whole thing, but for our honeymoon, we wanted to be taken care of. We saw a travel package to Italy on Groupon through Great Value Vacations and it sounded pretty good for us and I will say that the accommodations were pretty solid. The catch, however, was that the hotels were all pretty far from the areas of interest, the trains, the airports, the trams and not only does GVV not provide any transportation to/from any of these locations, but they don't provide any kind of assistance or information on how to navigate from points of entry to the hotels, or the hotels to the city. Our first hotel included breakfast, which was great, but our final hotel - even though it would've only cost them 10 Euro/day for us to have breakfast - didn't include breakfast. That was also a bummer and seemed pretty cheap. All of this, honestly, wasn't terrible. We, being who we are, were having a blast no matter what, and we're pretty good at navigating new cities. However, our flight home was wildly disappointing. The flight from Rome to Los Angeles is about 13 hours and when we checked in, we discovered we weren't sitting together. On our honeymoon. This seems like the most basic job a travel agency should have - booking seats together on a half-day flight. Of course, the flight was completely booked and we weren't able to sit together. Incredibly disappointing for the final stretch of our trip. The funniest thing was that I tried to contact GVV as soon as I found out and when I sent my email, I was informed that my message qualified for an EMERGENCY RESPONSE and someone would be in touch with me within the next few hours. It's been nearly a day and no one reached out to assist. Really disappointing and I don't think I'll be using a travel agency again and definitely won't be using GVV again. Think hard before trusting this company with a special vacation. EDIT in response to GVV response. This is the exact same cookie-cutter response they've offered me over and over again. The customer service team reached out to me, didn't introduce themselves, showed, showed zero empathy, and offered a paltry credit for future travel without any assurances this wouldn't happen again if I were to book with them in the future. This shows even worse customer service than I had originally thought. Wouldn't use again. read more
