I would never get them again, cx service agents are so rude its mind blowing that they still have a job. i called to cancel my policy within my 30 days and the manager told me it was cancelled but it never was. called back when I realized it wasn't cancelled and no manager was available to speak to me at the time. when I called again, I had ANOTHER rude worker named Richard who is a manager and he said he was going to hang up on me because I didnt want to tell him why I wanted to cancel (keep in mind I already discussed this last time when I originally cancelled the plan) he then over talked me the entire time so I couldnt even explain and when he originally answered the phone he never stated his name and when I asked for his name he was very short and rude. when I asked for the legal depts number (incase my refund isn't received) he refused to provide it to me. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone! Go with another warranty company that respects their customers before you go with them. and before anyone asks, I was never rude to them until they were rude to me and I even told them how unprofessional they were. Sales person that sold me the service lied about my coverage. Ive called several times only to be told by someone that said she was a manger that I couldn't get a refund no matter what! This is a SCAM company if I've ever dealt with one. I am thankful for each and every Yelp review because your experiences helped me in getting my refund. First off, I live in CA and they kept sending me policy booklets to my CA address but the inside said some random address in Colorado. I looked up the address and found that the property was in escrow at the time my policy was written, so it seems they found an empty home to run this scam on. When I brought it to their attention, they refused to speak to me or respond to my emails. So, I kept calling and sent my cancelation request by email and us postal mail. Finally, I spoke with "James" who was very RUDE. He claimed there was a "system glitch" that "put you at the wrong address, but the new policy says your CA address". It doesn't- it says the same Colorado address. Then he said I "missed the cancelation period" which he said was within the first 30 days. When I read from the booklet, he told me it was the old booklet (says you can cancel any time) and that I didn't understand the policy. After much back and forth, he became frustrated with my insisting on a refund and started yelling and cursing at me saying he wasn't going to give me a f*****g dime back, told me to come to his office because he would LOVE to show me in person, threatened to put a lein on my vehicle if I contacted my bank to reverse the charges, said he would make sure I had no coverage and sue the bank, win against the bank. That guy is a piece of work. I honestly think there is only 1 or 2 people working for this company. They use fake names: James, Eric, Richard, Sean, Bradley and Zach to name a few. After doing my part to cancel with them the right way, I called and reported my issue to CITIBANK to see what my options were. It had been close to 90 days, yet CITIBANK gave me a FULL refund, instead of the prorated one I expected. I also have recordings of "James". I purchased an auto warranty (top of the line according to my sales rep) Superior 75, Unlimited Mileage and NO deductible! Came with Towing 24/7 roadside assistance and Car Rental (complimentary), for a used 2020 Toyota supra with a newly installed, factory fresh BMW B58 motor (we paid $15,000 for it!) Shared with the sales rep that the car had a new motor, modifications (exhaust/wheels) and they insured the vehicle without issue. The motor seized this past week, and the claims adjuster DENIED the claim for the "modifications." I phoned to speak with customer service about the claim denial and the fact that: there is NO rental coverage; there is a deductible, it is technically 25% up to $7500 which is the HIGHEST amount of the claim they will pay; and they would 'review the sales call' since all calls are recorded, but wouldn't tell me when they would get back to me regarding the requested refund of 12 months of premium at $155/mo. I was hung up on, I was dismissed as being "hostile" after I was repeatedly put on hold and interrupted and treated rudely. I was frustrated GRANTED but told to "take it down a notch!" What???? Another review stated Empire is " nice during the sale and when you need help they treat you like garbage!" That is precisely what occurred, so I would stay as FAR away from this "extended warranty" company, they take your $ and in return do a song and dance and engage in conversation that is condescending and antagonistic. Richard, the manager actually laughed at me today on the phone, and then told me "god will work things out for me." The prior rep who transferred me into oblivion, when I expressed my frustration told me "i'm a human being you cannot talk to me like this." He kept interrupting me and speaking to me like a 5 year old, which now I see is their communication style/tactic so they can turn you off to pursuing any additional service, that a business model! I tried to explain to the manager, Richard in my conversation today, that I was fraudulently induced into a contract. Richard's response was: What's "inducement" mean and it's not a contract 'it's month to month." I bought this on effective day of February 24, 2025 for a 2015 Tesla. They told me it would cover high voltage battery. When I got the agreement they did not have it marked as an EV and it does not cover HV batteries. I called and they were supposed to call back they did not. I called again they said it didn't matter. I called on March 24th (28 days) to cancel and get refunded but they said I could not cancel That department wasn't there at 4pm CT. I called the next morning 3/25 (29 days) "That department isn't in." I called later, "That department is at lunch." I called at 2:45 pm CT and talked to the same person called himself Richard ext 402 and he said He could cancel it but I would not get my money back because I was past 30 days. This is on 3/25 (day 29.) They refused to acknowledge that February only has 28 days. Then he started getting vulgar with me and tried to get me to call him Dick Licker. I purchased an extended warranty for my BMW through Empire Auto Protect. They told me when I purchased it that I would be covered for everything in full with a $100 deductible. They also explained to me that I can bring the car to any certified mechanic or to BMW. On December 13th I had some issues with my car and brought it to my local mechanic. They contacted Empire but we're immediately transferred to a company called HeadStart Warranty which is the claim adjusters for Empire. We were given the runaround for 13 days. Finally they agreed to pay $1,800 out of a possible $3,500. They would only authorize parts that you would buy on the internet and not BMW factory parts. When I called Empire to discuss this, they told me that they are only the broker and they are not responsible and blamed Headstart. When I called Headstart they said they are only the claim adjusters and that I was obviously misled when I purchased the contract through Empire. Headstart ultimately approved $1,800 and I had to pay $1,700 out of pocket. Today I called to cancel the policy and Empire explained to me that if I cancel they will charge me the $1,800 that they just paid. They explained that the only way I won't be responsible for that $1,800 is if I continue to pay for the policy for the next 22 months at the rate of $155 per month. They told me I cannot cancel unless I repay the claim they just partially covered. I have never heard of doing business like this in my life. This is a very bad company and I am in the process now of considering my options. If anybody has any thoughts about getting involved with Empire Auto protect I strongly suggest you don't do that. read more

I took my car in for repair as there was a clunking noise. Turns out that the engine mounts failed and some bushings. I have the exclusionary policy such that these items are covered.They first attempted to dishonor their contract stating that the items on the work order weren't covered even though they never asked for any parts numbers. So then when I spoke to them and went through the contract with them on the phone and showed them that it was covered.... they changed their reasoning not to cover it because they said it was a wear and tear issue. I spoke with the mechanic and took it to a second mechanic as well and they both assured me wear and tear was not an issue and that wear and tear happens the second automobile leaves the dealership and that they had "collapsed and failed" and wear and tear is not a legitimate form of denial with regards to used vehicles of course.All of which takes place without any documentation and only limited emails without any professional context. Every time I spoke with them and ask them to send me over information or documents of the denial or even the claim itself. They said the rudimentary emails I sent out in contact for the claim and the denials were those documents and would never send any documentation (not keeping records of legitimate claims and denials is fraudulent.) Then wouldn't answer my phone calls because they would never send me any of the information I asked for.I've had to contact their state and file appropriate complaints as part of the first steps of litigation including fraud as they have absolutely no documentation nor follow the proper checks and balances to come to their "conclusion."As for the cherry on top: they're holding my repair hostage as I cannot repair the car until they've denied third party inspection which they will not go on record doing. unprofessional. rude. condescending. scammers. signed up on 7/10 and was told that i had a 30 day window to cancel and get a full refund. cancelled on 8/5 (within the 30 days), only to be charged on 8/6 for my next payment. called them to have a quick phone call where i simply confirmed my phone number and had the employee (who did not tell me their name) just say "it's cancelled" before i could ask any questions. on 8/15, i called them because i was still waiting on a refund. i was told that there was no record of my cancelling and got transferred to another employee. this person told me my refund was on the way as got processed monday 8/12. when i asked why it didn't get processed on 8/5 or 8/6, when my initial phone calls were, he told me i didn't call either of those days and got very short and defensive when trying to tell me that i hadn't cancelled until 8/12. tried to ask me if i had cancellation confirmation from 8/5 in a "gotcha!" tone and dropped it immediately when i said "no i don't, because you all never sent it. it's not my fault you didn't do your job, but i do have several emails i've sent between now and then about this that you all never answered" today is 8/22/54 and i still have not received either refund. still never got a cancellation confirmation either. these people are scammers and will try to lie their way out of their own incompetence. 100% Scam. I've never experienced anything like this. They tell you everything will be covered when you purchase the extended warranty, then they do anything and everything they can not to pay. BEWARE! Empire Auto Protect is a complete shell operation; totally illegitimate. It's not at all surprising the Better Business Bureau won't even touch this scam. They do not pay for repairs that they are legally responsible to cover so I had to pay for the legitimate claim myself and they will not refund portions of a contract when you sell the car that was insured by them, which they are contractually legally responsible for doing as well. I've been told for 4 months that the refund check was coming, then they said it was not yet authorized, called back a week later, said the refund check was in the mail again which never came, then I called back, and it was promised again. Many times, after I identified why I was calling I was sworn at by their customer support person, told to never call their number again, then left on hold for 20 minutes then they hung up. Other times they said they would call me back with information which they never did. Months later after multiple calls and lies; still no check!! Apparently given all the complaints about them I imagine that even their CEO doesn't care, which tells quite a lot about their actual intentions, lack of ethics, honesty and legal responsibilities. Beware !!! Eric is a good salesman!! Our first claim for a water pump was rejected. Our new claim for front suspension (control arms) was rejected. They claimed that the ball joint had ruptured and were not covered, Duh!! The ball joints are part of the control arms and ball joints wear out. Our Audi only has 60K miles and its common for wishbone suspension to wear. We paid 3K for a policy and Empire will never cover anything. I called them and kept getting handed to another person. The last guy started talking about the electrical system which has nothing to do with suspension. Our Audi dealer said that other auto companies usually cover our type of repair. If your going to buy an extended auto warranty policy, don't use Empire !! read more

Do not get a used car extended warranty from this place, read their verbiage carefully do not listen to the salesperson. We were told that the warranty would be equal to the new car 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Like starting over with a brand new car. So if you read the warranty correctly, it says if you have a failure due to an internally, lubricated part such and such is covered. So basically, let's say the piston rings were not holding compression, they would call that wear and tear and cover that. Thanks Apple let's say your control arm bushings were out, they will call that normal wear and tear and not cover that. Other than a few items, you really don't have anything covered. They are careful with the wording and that's why the warranties are so inexpensive, you're paying for nothing. I know it's hard to find real reviews of this company, I had the same problem. This is a real review. The sales people tell you what you wanna hear in my opinion, I am telling you if you want a real real warranty, get something that covers wear and tear on parts, not like tires and brakes, but like piston rings, and connecting rods and things like that, just like the manufacturer would cover under their warranty. You're gonna pay more but there's a reason. Look at the air conditioner coverage, it doesn't say refrigerant. This is an inclusion only policy meaning if it doesn't say it's covered it's not, be careful. This is dealing with your company, firsthand Empire, if you have an issue with my review, then charge more and be more honest, not crooked. read more
