This was a recommendation from a coworker from weeks ago and finally decided to try it out.
The place for lunch is absolutely exceptional! On top of service, quality of food, and best of all - the price point is pretty crazy. About that - so with inflation and the ubiquitous talks about skyrocketing prices of everything on earth, food is definitely one of the most obvious areas for that topic. And of course, we're talking NYC prices, particularly lunch in Manhattan! The price for lunch in Manhattan has always been expensive, but oh man, with these days - it's almost painful to realize this fact that the holes in the pockets are only getting bigger. So that is why, stumbling upon a place like this - really helps!!! This also factors in the fact that the price point was not compromising the quality. Majority of the dishes were cookedand made to order - and that's a rare finding, unless you go to a sit-down restaurant. Otherwise, for a quasi-take out lunch place, it is nice to see a scene like that. (Many delis do have similiar made to order styles, but rare to have stove-top arrangements like this... the preparation involved is cumbersome and generally costs more with this set up.)
Plus the place is packed by noon. There was not a place to stand clear. It was decided to avoid the cluster of people blocking the main entrance. So it was kind of hard to get out when the order # was called. Of course, with cheap eats, you will attract patrons who lack manners and such (Yes, chivalry is dead). This particulardetail on shortcomings of customers clearly has nothing to do with the restaurant/business or remotely close to it, but later, will see why this is an important concept later on. So this dude was absolutely impolite and did not allow me through first, and had to go in front of me to block me. Based on the crowds, there was no way out to reach the counter to pick up the order. That was pretty annoying, but you know - you just have to carry on with these circumstances and be prepared that there will be all types of personalities that comes to establishments. What is ultimately important to note here, this same person tried to grab a drink from fridge, that was not part of the special package. He attempted to take a more expensive drink. Now, remember - sd busy as this place was - (the containers were being lined up for all the orders), a restaurant worker was still able to call him out loud, in front of everyone. And no, it was not an honest mistake (for those who like to err on benefit of the doubt ideas), because upon being caught, the guy responded "oh that's right, soda right". Yes, that's right, not the very apparent $10 glass bottle of expensive kombucha you tried to pick up inconspicuously. Geez. So with that said, the workers were definitely on the ball, which is pretty amazing because it was so hectic in the front side back and everywhere. Which in this case, I think deserve 10 stars!!!!
Oh, and last point on this topic - BOOMERANG!
That type of character and thinking can only go so far.
The order was heavy and large (for lunch). The restaurant used the method to separate the dish from the rice. Super smart!
Portions were large, unable to finish in one setting.
For those who are frugal, you can see this being saved for dinner later.
Or split with a friend. =)
