    Pork Katsu Curry

Curry is the food item on the menu today! First spot that popped up when looking for a curry stop so decided to check it out. The menu is straight forward and the store was easy to find with their bright sign. The interior if cosy with limited seating (if I had to guess around 10-15 people (more if groups share tables) The prices are decent for the portion, Ordered a pork katsu curry and it was served up pretty quickly on a metal pan-plate-tin (was interesting) The pork katsu was nicely crisp and the curry was a mildish sweet heat which was nice. This was a pretty straightforward curry dish, would recommend to swing by if you love curry and a quick meal. (When finished bringing the pan back to designated area on the counter)

Words cannot expressed how excited and happy I am that Go Go Curry has returned to NYC! This has been my favorite spot to get Japanese curry all throughout my college years and onwards. When they closed all their New York City locations, I was in disbelief but glad to know they opened back in the Garment District. I ordered my go-to favorite dish, which was a Chicken Katsu Curry paired with a refreshing soda to cool down. It is quite a spacious restaurant to find seating anywhere by yourself or with friends. Luckily I arrived after the lunch rush so I can comfortably find a seat and order my curry. Once my order was brought to me, I enjoyed every bite of nostalgia and delicious chicken katsu. I want to emphasize that they are very generous with the portions especially the katsu you order. I left full and satisfied with what I ate at Go Go Curry. I will most definitely be returning and order my go-to order as well as the Home Run Curry, which is a feast for the eyes and your stomach

This flagship location has reopened ( officially to the public Fri July 25th 2025 ) They were having a soft opening this week and we were able to dine in. The owner and staff are really sweet. They have table and chairs for dining in. However no bathroom. Also accessibility via stairs only ( so it's limited, no ramp ). Food is good and prepared fresh. I had the Home Run Combo with Pork ,my friend had the chicken. The combo comes with shrimp ( 1 large) ,egg , rice and curry , shredded cabbage and we added pickled radish (fukujinzuke) . It was quite filling, I couldn't finish all my rice.

Don't tell my family this, but this bowl is supposed to be curry. I've had this curry before at cons and even at the Times Square location. I was at its reopening event, where the food was just 55 cents for dine-in guests. How would I describe this to Caribbean or Indian people who are used to their own curries? Honestly, this chicken curry tastes and feels like chicken nugget strips placed on top of a gravy stew. In reality, it's a mild fried chicken thigh drenched in a soy sauce-Worcestershire mix that gives the dish a starchy, slightly sweet feel over rice. It's not bad, but it's definitely not what I'm used to. It is filling, so I can't complain too much, but I prefer curry to have some spice and a wider range of textures. This is kinda muddy and bland. The chicken itself wasn't seasoned; it relied entirely on the stew for flavor. The area is fun and wacky. Bright colors and Japanese enthusiasm put a smile on my face. I say come for the experience but leave food expectations low.

Got the giant plate of curry and it really was large, but we finished it with 4 people! However, we had to get extra sauce to make it taste good, since there was a lot more rice than sauce.

Go! Go! Curry! is one of my favorite spots for Japanese curry. I've gone to many of their other locations over and over again and it always hits the spot. I'm not sure what's going on with the company but I believe this restaurant recently reopened. It's a small no fuss restaurant but I've been lucky with seating each time I've come. Food is made relatively quickly, and is freshly prepared. For me, the small is the perfect portion size. They do also offer a medium and large size though if you're feeling really hungry. The curry itself is delicious and has a great savory depth of flavor with a hint of sweetness. It's served with white rice and thinly sliced cabbage on the side. My go to is always the shrimp tempura, and I love the dollop of tartar sauce that they put on top. It's a lovely and tangy punch that complements the flavors so well.

Was my go-to curry spot in Midtown for quite some time. Food is always made fresh and quickly and the curry was decent enough. I always felt like there wasn't quite enough curry for the amount of rice but I do like drowning my rice in curry. Too bad that this location has since shuttered. Abiko in K-town by comparison feels higher quality and is tastier but comes with a noticeably higher price tag as well.

    Chicken Katsu Curry (Regular)

Upon stepping inside the self-served eatery, the staff greets you and you walk up to place an order in the front. Bought a regular chicken katsu curry ($16.95 + $1.50 tax = $18.45 total) for here. There're actually several locations in NYC since it's a franchise brand. Prices have been raised due to inflation times. Apparently, the katsu curry varies in meat, veggies, tofu or seafood. Also, current curry sizes are regular or large. Seems to have gotten rid of the small which was still available from last year. The regular is just the right size if you're not too hungry. Additionally, staff said both sizes are actually pretty similar with the large having more rice than the regular. They also have appetizers, toppings, combo meals, drinks, sauces, and mochi as dessert on the menu. Ambiance is a no frills looking kind of eatery but you can hear Japanese ads being played on TV. There're exactly 16 metal stools as the seating, so you might've to switch to take out if there're no more seats left. It's a small space after all. Love that there're several wall outlets over or under the table(s) wherever you're sitting. Staff is polite and service tends to be fast. When you get your order, they only provide you with a fork and no spoon. Hopefully there'll be spoons and chopsticks in the future as it's hard to scoop all the rice with a fork without dropping pieces back into the container. I wish the breading of the chicken cutlet would have been more crispy. I like the taste of the thicker textured Japanese curry sauce because it's very savory and flavorful poured over white rice. The curry gets soaked in the soft and fluffy rice which is tasty in every bite. The raw shredded lettuce makes an odd side dish to the cutlet and rice but oh well, it is what it is. I don't know if it's just me, but the food portion wise looks smaller than before from being placed inside the to-go containers even if you plan on eating it here. I sure miss when the food is still in a metal tray/dish. I'm guessing they've made the switch because it's probably way less work for them to clean up. We all know that the price has definitely gotten higher. Now, shouldn't the portion still stay the same though? They've the AC turned on inside Go! Go! Curry! Lastly, there's no public restroom for customers inside so I hope you'll have a Plan B or can run to the nearest one in the neighborhood.

I've toyed with trying to post reviews and become part of the Yelp Elite (tm) as I'm such a foodie and love trying new places. This is my foray into that journey for one reason: The Curry Man. Last spring I visited Japan, and first happened upon Go Go Curry in Hiroshima. The kids meal featured The Curry Man, and I simply had to meet him. I was not disappointed and proceeded to make my entire party find another Go Go Curry in Kyoto a week later so I could be reacquainted. When I happened across a Go Go Curry in New York City of all places, I screamed in the street. The Curry Man was here, in the US, waiting for me. They don't have a kids menu here, but the Very Nice Lady running it was able to ring him up as separate ingredients and assemble him based on the many pictures I have. I waited 10 minutes for him, and then there he was in front of me. He was larger than I remembered, but I didn't mind. It was just more for me to love. I sat in the window seat, listening to the Japanese ads playing. The place was empty, the sunlight streamed through the window, and it was an intimate and enjoyable experience between me and the one thing that's ever understood me. The curry was rich, the shrimp tempura crispy and juicy, and I've never felt more fulfilled. Thank you, Go Go Curry NYC. And thank you, dear reader, for coming on this journey with me.

First restaurant my family and I went to when we got to town. Good food! Not the traditional Japanese curry I'm used to. The curry sauce is darker and tasted smokey. Tasty nonetheless! I'd come here again. The wait for food was normal. Not fast or slow. We did have to wait for seating since the restaurant is small and my family is a group of 7.

I went to get lunch from here as earlier in the week the food was delicious. I ordered the pirk this time as i wanted to give it a try but was a little disappointed. I previously had ordered a medium size meal but wanted a large this time. I thought I'd get more food and protein with the meal but it felt like it was sooo much less protein but lots of rice and little of the curry. I had also asked for more cabbage but didn't receive any. When entering to pick up my lunch i did notice that there was a different cook and cashier than earlier in the week which is probably why the meal felt different. I think they need to get a better understanding of the meal sizes.

Quick service and delicious food. The food was so good that we finished it within 10 mins. Nothing else needs to be said.

Pork katsu entree (size S) Potion size was disappointing.

The missus picked up dinner here one night; 2 of the pork katsu entrees (Panko-breaded fried pork cutlet, drizzled with tonkatsu sauce, served with shredded cabbage and Japanese homemade curry over rice. Curry sauce contains pork.). She got the (S) size; turns out there's 3 sizes. I forget what the price was for each, but it was probably ~$11. The portion size was ridiculous. I've always thought the food wasn't too healthy for you; but it sure is yummy. I would recommend paying the extra for the bigger sizes. We've ordered here off & on over the years; won't be going back after this.

The Katsu is the star and I think what sets this place apart is that they offer Berkshire pork katsu as an option. Arguably some of the best pork, it's great to have the option if you're looking to heighten the experience. I love their pork katsu and go nuts over the chicken katsu curry. It's super crispy, slightly greasy but never off-putting. And it's served with the most delicate and delicious cabbage slaw. I could eat a mountain of this it's so good. Highly recommended.

It came with cabbage (with a sesame ginger type dressing), daikon radish (with some type of sauce on top), and the standard sauce for the tonkatsu, along with some crushed sesame seed and hot mustard. I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. The dish also came with a bowl of miso soup (good, and not overly salty) and a bowl of white rice, which I considered the most disappointing part of the meal. The rice seemed a bit dried out...not moist.... All in all, an excellent meal. I'd definitely come back.
