The only downside to my experience coming here recently is how they forgot to include my ham & cheese empanada in the to go box that was nicely packaged and sealed so I couldn't check to see if it was there until I unpacked my order and found that it was not there. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of calling them to get a refund for it or drive back for it. Also, I don't feel like giving them one less star right now on this review because of it. I'm considering it this time as a natural human error and donation to this nice small business. Hopefully, they will be more careful and efficient my next visit because their product was very tasty and I do want go back there again soon to try more.

This one was pretty much just a regular soft taco with beef inside. I wasn't a huge fan of the taco shell, as it was a little soft. In terms of the filling, I did really like the amount of beef in there, but I thought it was kind of dry and chewy. The beef being like this was something I noticed in all 3 tacos - but it was the most noticeable in this one I really liked the quesabirria taco - that extra layer of cheese did so much for the flavor. For one, it provided another layer between the taco shell and the cheese, and second, the cheese itself was really good and there was a lot of it. Because of this, the beef inside just tasted better than the regular birria - and the shell on the outside didn't feel as soft as the first one. My favorite of the three was the mulita, which came as two small tortillas with the filling inside. the reason I liked this the most was because it was the crispiest of the three - there were actual crunchy parts to this tortilla that weren't there in the other ones. This one also had cheese like the birria, but due to the slight advantage in crunchiness it's my favorite Of course, what really brings this entire meal together is the consommé. This is just absolutely fantastic - and is the best part of the meal by far. The broth is salty, flavorful, and just adds so much to everything it coats. When dipping one of the tacos in it, I would let the consommé wash over the beef that remains, essentially liquidifying it, and this made the beef so much juicier and changed it from dry to flowing with the juices of the broth. It's hard to describe how much this enhanced the two tacos and the mulita. There's also a pretty generous amount of it Another thing I have to mention is the spicy salsa - which was incredibly flavorful. really loved that The only thing I would really say as a negative (other than the beef that I mentioned before) is that these tacos/mulita really aren't crunchy at all. I wish the tortillas would've been fried more to really get that crispiness that I prefer in tacos - an oil coating on the outside would've also helped. I also usually don't mention this in my reviews, but the person at the front desk was amazing! For the price of about 15 dollars, I would say this is relatively decent - however, while the portion size looks big, it's not really that filling

Luckily, TJ's street tacos at Captain Blacks were open until 12:30 AM on weekends and 11:30 PM on weekdays. Parking in Capitol Hill is usually a pain, but we found free two-hour spots right nearby. As for the tacos, you can pick three from Asada, Adobada, Chicken, or Chorizo for $11.50. Their salsa and guacamole are really good! I've tried everything except the chorizo (it was sold out both times). My favorite is definitely the Adobada taco--it's packed with flavor. Oh, and their onion rings are perfect with drinks. I would recommend ordering on the toast app using their QR code because there is usually only one person working! I've got my eye on their carne asada fries and a few other items from the menu next time. TJ's street tacos is hands down one of the best street taco spots I've tried in Seattle--definitely worth checking out!

Walking in, it was nice to see the space reconfigured to allow more kitchen and pastry case space. Plus the interior is a lot more warmer with wall color and vibrant art work which is enhanced by the natural light. This makes for a more pleasant dining area. I was kind of overwhelmed with the immense selection and variety in the wrap around pastry case. I'm glad that the counter person was patient with me as I seriously gave consideration since clearly I can't say - one of each please, lol. I ended up exercising restraint and selected two ham and cheese empanadas with chimichurri and two chocolate covered chocolate alfajores with dulce de leche as takeout. The Homie ate one empanada with chimichurri later that day. I ate mine the next day with the remaining chimichurri. We can both attest that the quality has remained despite the near five year hiatus. The alfajores also was delicious, no surprise there. Next visit, I'm going to inquire further about the assortment of pastries in the front pastry case. There was no individual signage displayed during my visit. Again, glad to see another indie business survive post-pandemic and during these challenging economic times.
