Went to the Lemon Ice kings and then got hungry so I yelped empanadas and brought me here. Hooray! Cute little place at the corner of Van Doren and 108 st in corona. I got very excited with the menu. They have white flour, corn or organic. ( wasn't a fan of the organic 2 dry and bland). I ordered plantain & cheese ( my favorite) Chicken, Ham & cheese and Hawaiian. Since I ordered a lot the girl at the register was very nice and threw in an organic chicken for free. Toooooooo bad I didn't like it "( but it was much appreciated. She was very helpful since I wasn't sure what to order at first. If you are in a hurry order ahead of time bc it takes some time. The least favorite for me was the chicken. For a second it looked like beef and was on the dry side. 2nd fav was the Hawaiian and ham and cheese (Lil salty but was still yummy). #1 favorite was the Plantatin. Used to come here as a child with my family. Recently went after a long time. I was so disappointed with the two lady's taking orders they were dismissive and rude. To get their attention I had to ask them 3 times before they even gave me a look.(it wasn't busy) What's sup with them no longer giving little spoons for the sauce? And no straws with your drink? Sad. Wish they could go back to the old ways. Also it was so easy to see the print on the empanada back then, so you were aware which one you were biting into. I tried just about one of everything on the menu-- The all meat empanadas were a bit on the dry side, go for the ones with cheese and/potato. The green sauce (hot sauce) is rather tasty, but was also messy since it was so watery. Got my empanadas to go, neither pouring/dipping the sauce was very useful. Hoping they can provide a slightly thicker/chunkier sauce with a bit more spice. Was disappointed with the Nutella + bananas empanadas. Could have been ok with a scoop of ice cream, otherwise this is a pass. Would really love to see other options The space is rather small also, only a few seats available, so I would suggest ordering to go. Food also takes about 10mins so call ahead as needed. read more

In a neck of the woods that's overcrowded with really great places that make empanadas, this place, in my opinion, stands out as one of the better ones. They offer quite a variety and their green sauce is that which dreams are made of. The only problem I have with this joint is they are not open late at night like some of the other local spots are. Horrible service! It was my first time coming here and it definitely will be my last.. I ordered over the phone and went to pick up my order when it was ready.. I approached the window and greeted the tall, skinny lady with the baggy leather leggings just to pick up my order .. I didn't know it was cash only and asked if they had Zelle. She become instantly bothered.. I asked to add a passion fruit juice and she responded we don't have it with a sassy demeanor.. I asked her again for the total so I can run to the car and get cash and repeated the total in a slow tone as if I didn't have the right to know.. I ran to the car and when I came back I LITERALLY APOLOGIZED to the lady for bothering her and ruining her mood in any way.. I get not every one has good days but it truly wasn't my fault. Inside there is a table that could seat 4 and a table for two at the other end. I would recommend to order it to go, even if you get a seat there is just too many people waiting around that it's uncomfortable. the empanadas comes in white flour crust, corn, or organic whole wheat, no more then $2.50. I finished it in probably 5 bits at best. it's a decent size but if i was a guy i might need like 3 or 4 order to fill me up. ordered: ground beef&cheese (corn crust): delicious, not dry, reminds me of a beef patty in some way. shredded chicken (corn) : bit on the dry side, decent but nothing amazing Hawaiian (white flour): delicious, must try, and it is a bit sweet because of the pineapples in there chorizo & potato (organic): the crust could be a bit dry for some people, but this pairing works! there is a little spice to it .. it's delicious just try it! homemade ice popsicles, 2$ each. tried passion fruit and mango, taste exactly how it should be. the mango wasn't as flavorful like passionfruit, but then again passionfruit is more sour then sweet. don't forget the spicy sauce ! I love this place!!! The empanadas are so addictive and delicious. I really like the ham and pineapple empanada. The mixed vegetables empanada was also good and juicy. I prefer the corn flour empanadas because the outside is crispier. But I will eat whatever I can get my hands on! I can eat this anytime of the day! It is that good. Tip for people who go here: Count your change. Customer service is awful. I had to ask for the correct change 3 times. I did not get the correct change in the end, but I did get an unpleasant attitude from the woman behind the counter and she "kindly" threw the change on my counter. I only recently found out about this place because I may have been living under a rock. I gave them a try over the weekend and that was it, I was hooked. I wouldn't say I am a big fan of empanadas, but I like them, especially if they're made right. I remember how I used to buy the ones from street vendors for $1-$2 with your choice of chicken, beef, or cheese and there was only the white flour kind. For close to the same price, you have so many more options here when it comes to fillings! There are also three options of white flour, corn flour and whole grain. I personally really like the corn flour type, but all three options are great. I tried the Hawaiian, chorizo and potato and shredded beef; all three were made perfectly, but my favorite had to be the chorizo and potato. Make sure you ask for lots of green sauce, soo good! It's a bit out of the way, but I'm pretty sure I would make the trip for them if I wanted an empanada or two...or four. Anyway, they are cash only so make sure you have enough cash on you because sometimes you might just order too much, for you wallet, not necessarily your stomach. I also saw they had ices, which I wanted so bad, but didn't have the luxury of time that day to enjoy one. I will definitely be back and it will be very soon! =) read more

A little trick to decipher which one is which is to look at the top of the empanada as they have the name/type imprinted (!!!) on the actual dough.
