Purchased these for an event honoring my granddaughters life & raising awareness about teen dating violence, so we had around 70 people there watching, was super embarrassing. I loved how knowledgeable Daryl was about butterflies and his generosity for offering a plant for free with our order, over the phone. I paid $325 for 75 butterflies thinking I was getting the same size/quality I got from Mr butterflies for the recent anniversary of my granddaughters passing, their butterflies were large and beautiful. Unfortunately Emma's were not. The 75 butterflies were very small and seemed mothlike in size. I can see the comparison between moths and butterflies that other people mentioned. I was told that I needed to release them 1 hour prior to sunset in order to have them active & fly away. Sunset was at 8 so we released at 7 and only 3 flew away, the rest sat in the box. Which isn't his fault however these were very small and didn't have the impact that the ones I bought online did. Based on this experience with the quality of butterflies I dont recommend buying theim for mass release. Not sure about any of the other products/services so I cant speak to those. read more

Darryl was very knowledgeable which made me want to get butterflies from him, like the last reviewer said some looked like moths and some were dead. Darryl said a plant and poem were included for 150. I was so excited before getting them I called to ask a question and he blocked me, when I saw the so called plant I almost passed out, I purchased 5 extra sight unseen trusting this guy lol he sold me twigs. Buyer beware This was for my nieces memorial how sad read more

We had a great experience with Emma's Butterfly Ranch last week. I spoke with Darryl beforehand, and he was very responsive in answering all my questions. I order painted lady butterflies in individual release envelopes for my mom's celebration of life memorial, and picked up the package from Riverside a few days later with no issues. The butterflies were packed securely, and Darryl gave instructions on how to release them. He is very knowledgeable about butterflies, and even gave us a native milkweed plant for our garden. The butterfly release went exactly as I imagined - very meaningful for us. My family loved the experience. read more

I needed butterflies last minute and I had another butterfly company give me this company information. He did give me a far warning. When I got there it was a house that wasn't super clean. I thought I was at the wrong address. It smelled like smokers / cigarettes. I paid $150 for 25 butterflies! They came in these small triangle Once I was about to release them more then 9 of them were dead. 3 of them didn't want to fly.. and we ended up just putting down on the grass. I felt so bad.. I tried to contact the owner and he didn't answer. I called 2x and I think I was blocked lol! I won't be buying live butterfly's again. The only reason I give them one star is because he was able to get them to me the same day and usually you need order them in advance! read more

Emma's Butterfly Ranch - Dead butterfly - Party & Event Planning Near Me - riverside , California

My cousin passed away on june 1, 2022.. The day after her passing...a monarch butterfly was waiting for me when I arrived home. The monarch butterfly was the brightest orange ive ever seen... Ive never experienced being able to touch a butterfly before, until that day...it let me touch it and at that moment I felt as if it was my cousin communicating to me...tell me that she is ok and that she loved me. On the day of her burial....my husband spontaneously decided to do this for her, found this place and within 45 min, he had the 25 butterflies in his hand ready for the burial schedule. My family loved the butterfly release...it was very healing to her young sons and husband to let them free. My husband said that the butterflies knew that they were meant for her....and this was why they only landed only on her flowers. I want to thank this business for having this ranch... read more

I've been trying to help the Monarch population and was in need of some milkweed and some info. Daryl who runs the business was very knowledgeable and gave some helpful tips. There were so many different types of butterflies flying around. I ended up not only purchasing milkweeds but another type of plant which I can't remember the name but this will hopefully bring another species of butterfly around the house. If you're in need of some info, milkweeds, caterpillars and even cocoons this is the place to go to.. Prices are reasonable also make sure you call to setup an appointment before heading over.. read more

Had a memorial for my dad and the butterflies from Emma's were so beautiful added that special touch to our memorial.

Darryl is one of my favorite resources for fresh, safe milkweed at a good price in this area. He's helped me countless times with supplying more milkweed for the caterpillars, which is especially necessary for this bountiful egg-laying season! Emma's butterfly ranch truly cares for and gives back to the Monarch Butterfly population. Stop by for some plants, caterpillars, or butterflies; he has them in all stages! Here's some pics of my milkweed less than a week after picking it up. Enjoy your butterflies! read more

I would like to first start off by saying thank you so so very much, Daryl, for your awesome service. I would totally recommend coming to this butterfly farm. I called Daryl to see about purchasing a few butterflies for my grandmother's birthday, and he made it happen. I was able to order the butterflies and pick them up on the same day. I would definitely be back again when I need more butterflies. read more

Darryl is well versed on the types of butterflies, the types of food they eat, the different types of milkweed and a big advocate for the monarch. He has starter kits with baby caterpillars that are self contained and grow into butterflies. Great place for children. They're situated in a house so calling to let them know you're there is helpful. Very happy I was able to visit Emma's Butterfly Farm. read more

I contacted Daryl to pick up a few milkweed for our butterflies and found that Daryl is VERY knowledgeable regarding the butterflies and also the different kind of milkweed plants. Daryl spent quite awhile educating me on the different diseases the caterpillars can contract and how to limit their exposure. It's great that you are local and easy to contact!! Will continue to do business with this man. Thank you read more

I am so disappointed with the butterflies I received. Was told I would be buying half white and half color butterflies. I arrive to pick up my butterflies. This women opens the door asks me what's my name. Not welcoming at all. Closes the door and I stay outside waiting for about 5 mins. She comes back to the door hands me the bag and a plant and says sorry for the inconvenience. I stayed guessing if she is going to give me any instructions as this is my first time purchasing butterflies. She answers me with just check the ice tonight. Gosh what poor customer service. I open the bag and the butterflies are small and all one color. I call them back and they say I can come back at noon, mind you I drove 55 min to pick them up. He offered to swap 2 of them out for 2 white ones but that they would be much smaller. They didn't care that they had promised me something else. Im soooo disappointed not what I wanted. Will not recommend this place to anyone. They are supposed to be for my fathers memorial tommorow. Such a huge disappointment. read more

I had a great experience picking up butterflies for my daughter birthday. Jeanie lady that works there is amazing.

We called today, the day before our daughter's burial service, to ask if they would have butterflies available for us to pick up (I admit, a bit last minute, but our other option fell through). My husband spoke to Darryl at around 11 am and let him know what we needed, he advised he wasn't home but would be home by 3 pm for us to pick up the butterflies. We drove from the IE and arrived to the address at 3:05 pm. My husband rang the doorbell and called him twice, to which there was no answer. We waited about 20 minutes and then I called from my phone. Darryl picked up and couldn't even recall the conversation he had with my husband, then proceeded to say he was an hour away. We couldn't wait as we have our daughter's viewing tonight. He should've just let us know he was unavailable instead of making us waste the time and gas driving out to Yorba Linda. Horrible customer service. read more

My family and I reserved a butterfly package for my fathers aniversary of his passing. Darrell was so understanding and took the time to educate us on this beautiful insect. With the package came a plant that we planted in my parents garden. Darrell clearly explained the process of the release of butterflies and the purpose of the plant that came with the package. The butterflies were so beautiful and the following day we saw sights of them in our parents garden. The whole process was so beautiful and meaningful to our family. I definitely recommend!!! read more

WARNING: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! This company did not deliver! We paid and ordered butterflies for our wedding and they weren't able to give us the butterflies we ordered. What makes it worst is that we've been trying to get our money back, and for almost a month now from the wedding, they still haven't given us back our money. We are now reporting them in better business bureau and about to go through small claims. This company is not trust worthy and definitely scammers!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS!!!! read more

On Jan 16th we were in a bind with my daughters early science project for a butterfly habitat and life cycle. The teacher had all the parents purchase the kits from Amazon on the same date. This was deliberately planned so that all the students would have a combined release date. However, within the week of receiving our butterfly kit our caterpillars died. (It didn't help that we purchased them in the Winter season.) However, my daughter was in distress because she wanted to partake in the program and release her own butterflies. I searched everywhere for any place that would sell live caterpillars and stumbled across this gem of a place. We called in and reached Darryl who was very knowledgeable and understanding of our situation. We drove to the Emma's Butterfly Ranch and he had everything ready for us to purchase. We needed a little bit of everything. 2 cocoons, 3 caterpillars and a milkweed plant. He explained the food process and gave me plenty to keep our beautiful caterpillars alive. It is now, Feb 11th and we are releasing our final 2 butterflies on this sunny day. I also shared our experience with my daughter's teacher and gave her a copy of Darryl's card so that they can just purchase them from here next time. It is close by and direct purchase which made it more interesting! Thanks Darryl, we look forward to continuing purchasing from here! read more

Daryl was very helpful and friendly. The only thing that was kind of off putting was that his dog is one of those aggressive/scared little dogs that will constantly bark at you and whomever you're with. Not a very calming experience if you're wanting to enjoy some butterflies for a few minutes. Other than that he was very helpful and informative. read more

My experience so far with this company has been dreadful. I spent $400 in butterflies for a memorial of someone very dear to me. I arranged for pick up the day before but when the time came the owner (who's name is either Darryl or Garral) was supposedly 2 hours away running errands. He told me the butterflies would be delivered to the church on the day of the memorial. During the memorial service (in the Catholic Church) I wasn't able to sit with co-workers/friends because I needed to be by the door to be able to leave without disruption to get the butterflies. I had to text the owner to ask the eta and he sends me a text saying the butterflies will not be delivered due to the weather and he should've explained that in our first conversation. Was he even going to let me know?! I had to text him and ask what time...Bad business! Not to mention a devastated family who was looking forward to the butterfly release who I had to give the terrible news to. As if they weren't already dealing with enough! The deceased raised monarchs in her backyard and we wanted something to really honor and cherish her Supposedly they will be delivering the butterflies this Tuesday to try again. Hopefully, they arrive and I don't have to report them. I should have read the other reviews prior to ordering the butterflies. I hope they rectify this situation and I can update this review. Stay posted The butterflies were delivered today. Darryl or whatever his name is dropped them off. He was apologetic and this time kept to what he said. The business was poorly run and should've stated any disclaimers from the beginning. It all worked out in the end, but I hope they become better organized for future customers. read more

My kids and I live 2hrs away, due to the extreme weather we didn't want to risk the caterpillars arriving dead if ordered online so we took the drive. Keeping the kiddos busy with fun things like this is all it's about. So we took the drive and are so happy that we did!! Darryl answered and educated us on all the questions we had, he totally took care of us. I would recommend calling before going and setting up a time of arrival, that worked great for us. All that we saw and brought home was so worth the trip, my kids were thrilled. I'd recommend and we'll be back :) read more

I first dealt with Darryl in April when I wanted some butterflies to release in honor of my deceased daughter's birthday. I wanted Monarch's but they were no where to be found. Darryl was very helpful in providing the milkweed and always available to answer my questions. My first two Monarch butterflies emerged today.
