Never before has $40 been a curse. My partner and I live in Columbia city and were gifted a $40 gift card to Emma's BBQ over 2 years ago. When there is a BBQ sized hole in your heart it must be filled. Every single time we have tried to use it they have been closed. At first it was because they are only open 3 days a week and we were attempting to go on a day they were closed. For the last 18 months we have been trying to use this gift card on days they are open and have never once been able to order food or even talk to someone. Right now it is 5pm on Friday one of the days they are supposedly open, and they are closed. I see nothing online about the business closing, but they never seem to be open. We have gone to Jacks BBQ in Sodo numerous times simply because Emma's was closed and we had our hearts set on BBQ. Jacks is amazing I highly recommend it. Going there again tonight. If you want Emma's BBQ don't even get your hopes up. Odds are they aren't open.

Oh my gaaawd! I'm almost too scared to say this too LOUD, but DAMNnnnnnnn this is GOOD! THE BEST BBQ I've had in Washington (I'm a native), and heck, maybe the best considering Everything On My Plate is GONE!!! Brisket was semi thin sliced, moist, flavorful and oh so tender. The bbq thick and not too sweet complimenting every bite. Greens ...I think mustard, and absolutely perfection. Think al dente in texture and not the soggy stringy mess others serve. No overpowering flavors or salt and just gooood. Mac n cheese is probably better than my mamas and yours too. Not too creamy, with those baked cheddar tender chewy pieces throughout. No soggy noodles and no falling apart. Seriously beautiful and tasty mac n cheese! Cornbread so good No butter is needed. Moist and not too crumbly. Verdict: THE BEST!!! $17 for a plate was well worth it. Portion size was perfect, and I honestly couldnt resist eating every crumb if they gave more. It's that good! Ms. Emma, thank you for blessing my childhood neighborhood with your cooking. It brought joy to my stressful week and I cannot wait to return. Take All My Money!!

2 way combo dinner: pork ribs, brisket, Mac and cheese, and potato salad

We really enjoyed Emma's BBQ! Service was very friendly, the space was on the smaller side and currently just doing take out. There is also a small parking lot on the side. We got the 2 way combo dinner which was enough for 2 adults! Comes with 2 meats, 2 sides, and cornbread. We got pork ribs, brisket, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. The meat was very flavorful and perfectly cooked/seasoned. The sides were excellent as well, and it was hard to choose! All in all I'd definitely recommend supporting this local family business.

Take out only, super sweet and friendly owners. The pulled pork is so flavorful and good portion. Love the spicy bbq sauce on the side so you can add as much or as little as you prefer. Also got the side of baked beans which were perfectly sweet and tangy.

COVID-takeout. Place our order and they brought the food out to you. Friendly black-owned family restaurant. Food was delicious prices are high do the pick two or three to save money to try other meats. Parking on the side streets

We came here after a swim in Seward Park and was craving for some BBQ. This place is located across Sam choys poke to the max and next to a bar. It's a pretty homey environment. We ordered the two way dinner with brisket and ribs, yams, collard greens, and corn bread. I think it was made to order as it was a little bit of a wait for our food to come out. Brisket: good portion but on the dry side, you definitely need sauce for this. Lean cut as there's no fat whatsoever. Ribs: tender, good flavor Yams and collard greens: standard Corn bread: big portion, crumbly, subtle hint of the corn bread. Service was good, the people there are very nice. Price was decent as well. Overall, I thought it was ok.

I'll be honest, Emma's food was disappointing. The staff was extremely kind and I went as soon as they opened because I wanted fresh hot food. That's not what I received. My sides were cold and lacked seasoning. As a southerner, sides are served hot! So since I went when they opened, I expected hot food. The greens weren't good at all. They lacked seasoning. The baked beans weren't baked. It seems like they took them out of the can, warmed them a bit, and served them. The Mac and Cheese was dry but shockingly, had a nice flavor. The potato salad tasted store bought. I know store bought potato salad because my dads mom does this and it's horrible. The ribs were fresh, hot, and good. Emma does meat very well. Sides are not their strong suit. Which honestly, most restaurants who claim to cook southern style here in Seattle, don't cook sides well. Sides are harder than people think. The peach cobbler was okay. I like the crust and juice from cobblers. Overall, the food wasn't the best. I won't go again. If I do, it'll only be for the ribs.

Solid - really good BBQ brisket. Yams were tasty and sweet; baked beans were good too. Bread was fresh and soft. Mild sauce - a little tangy but not "hot". Great Saturday afternoon lunch!!

My husband and I got some takeout from there on Sunday night (Aug 30, 2026). We probably should have gotten different entrées in order to try each other's dish. But we were both craving the brisket bowl, which serves the meat on top of their smoky jalapeño mac & cheese. It was very tasty! And actually very generous portions too. We were talking about it later and in future may just get one order and split it, because it was plenty for two. We had enough leftovers that we had a second dinner. We also tried their coleslaw, which was good, but nothing unique. The fellow who was doing all the work in the truck was named Brad, and he was very friendly and helpful. I had asked how spicy the mac & cheese was, and he kindly gave me a small taste of it to try. I'm a little bit wimpy when it comes to highly spiced food, but this was not overly spiced at all. Depending on when you go, there may or may not be street parking. When we went on a Sunday at 6pm, there was no problem. They are open every day from 11 to 8. And there are two picnic tables in front of the truck, in case you want to eat there. FYI, I don't remember seeing any beverages on the menu. Maybe they have a pitcher of water or something, I don't know. But you might want to check, and maybe bring a beverage with you. All in all, we really enjoyed our experience and the food. We'll definitely be back!

The counter staff are always friendly, and helpful in trying to make some decisions on what to order. My favorites include: the brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, mac-n-cheese, and an occasional salad. We often get our food to go, but when we've eaten in, there is generally plenty of space to sit, and if you sit outside, you can see the folks hard at work smoking the various meat.

At least for this style- Texas style...sort of a combo with both dry rub (Memphis style) and a kick ass sauce ala KC. It was excellent. We both wanted the ribs and brisket so we each got the 'double trouble' and got different sides...greens, cornbread, corn pudding and mashed potatoes. Oh yeah, we also got the fried pickle appetizer. The meat was perfectly done...tender and smoky. Each side was big, and flavorful. I especially liked the greens, my son said it was the best he'd had. Then they brought out the banana pudding. When the server put it on the table my son made a reference to a vampire movie we'd recently watched where the vampires could see the arteries in the necks of their victims and he made a motion to show that the banana pudding was almost pulsating on the table before us. We descended on that poor pudding like crazed nosferatu just awakening from a centuries long nap. Blood lust. It was so good. Gone in about 1 minute. Our evil souls were barely sated. Our thirst for banana pudding only temporarily slaked. The server joked that he's always wanted to bring in a boba straw for the stuff. It's good. Anyway- put this place on your list. Best bbq in Seattle? Maybe? This is a food genre that's important to me and I haven't yet seen better. $130 for two people with tip, wine and a take-home pudding.

Though you have small portions, you can choose more if need be until you're full. If you're ever in Seattle, try this gem out. You'll love it. I finally realized that wagyu comes in different tiers, ranging from 1 to 5, 5 being the most delicious and of course more expensive (which i don't think they offer here). 5 also has the most fatty and delicious wagyu that just melts in your mouth. One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."
