I was heading out of town and was looking for a tasty meal while waiting for my flight to depart. Being a born and bred New Orleanian, I've been to all of Emeril's local spots with the exception of this one, and love them all. I understand that there used to be a very low bar set at most airports, but I feel like things have changed somewhat in recent years, so I was expecting a lot from an Emeril's restaurant. I was very let down. The two stars are for service. The staff was attentive and friendly, and I have no complaints in that department. The food, however, was a different story. I ordered a simple grilled chicken Caesar salad. The chicken had to be precooked, as it tasted like cardboard and had a rubbery texture. The dressing was just meh, and the croutons seemed to have come out of a SureFine bag from the grocery. I was hungry so I ate it, but I won't be back. On the way home from leaving NOLA, the airport had this Emeril's Table location in the terminal. Wasn't hungry at the time, but decided to grab a quick beer while waiting for the flight home. There were a good amount of people that were seated in the restaurant area, enjoying their food and drink. Upon arrival, I almost did not get in because they were about to close and weee not letting in any more patrons. However the hostess let me in since I was only grabbing a beer. From my perspective, this is your typical in-terminal food choice/location, the same as many other food choices that are available. The staff was friendly, but they were majorly behind on orders and did make that known. So they were running around pretty briskly, to try to catch up and get food orders and drink orders completed. MSY uses the names of well-known local chefs and restaurants to market many of its airport concessions ― with a varying degree of relationship. Some (Ye College Inn, Angelo Brocato) clearly seem more connected than others (Dook's Burger, Bar Sazerac). The two largest establishments at the ends of the twin concourses ― Folse Kitchen in Concourse C and Emeril's Table in Concourse B ― serve similar menus of po'-boys, sandwiches, and salads the former with a cafeteria setting, and the latter with a faux-wood-burning (and apparently only decorative) pizza oven. Ordering is done entirely through QR code; don't even try to ask the bartender for a beer as one lady did. You gotta use your phone. My bowl of gumbo was attached to a previous order that had yet to be cleared out, so it's not exactly foolproof. As for that gumbo, it was decent, with a properly dark roux, good andouille, and flavorful chicken pieces. But the bowl (rather small for $10+) was heaped full of rice, so much so that the gumbo was pretty much just gravy for this mound of rice. Anyone from Louisiana knows that's a no-no. Had they proportioned it correctly, they'd have had another star. Was this just sloppy work on the kitchen's part? Or are they piling up the rice to cut back on and stretch out the more expensive gumbo? Either way, it's not good. read more

I arrived over an hour before boarding and decided to have a sit-down breakfast. The hostess stand was unmanned and a large group of at least three different parties were left waiting for over 20 minutes (in an airport where schedules matter). I counted at least five open and bussed tables with at least half a dozen open spots attached he bar and counter, do space was not an issue. I realized we were left waiting for so long because they just didn't want to serve us breakfast. So they kept us waiting outside the restaurant with no attendant for the duration of a normal airport meal because they didn't want to flip some eggs. The excused used was that it was hectic and the employee seating us was "alone." This was untrue because we saw at least one other hostess and a manager checking the hostess stand (without acknowledging the growing line of customers). When we were finally seated we had to order off the touchless menu. After three attempts to place the order I finally saw a human server and asked for her help. I got a one word answer and she rushed away. The online ordering finally (miraculously?) worked after another half dozen attempts as I was waiting for the server to reappear...which she never did. The food finally arrived about ten minutes before boarding and it was wrong. The manage just put on the table and walked away. I called to her to point out the mistake and she ignored me and kept walking. I actually had to raise my voice to just shy of yelling volume before she actually acknowledged me. THE MANAGER'S response to my incorrect food was to tell me she would send the aforementioned absent server. She, apparently, already knew what they had done wrong and brought out the correct order. The food itself was standard airport fare. None of Emerils's signature BAM! The burger was plain and slightly overcooked, the fries were slightly soggy on the outside and undercooked inside and the remoulade sauce was next to tasteless. I tried dipping my fries in it just make sure and, yes, it was just as bland as I thought it was on the burger. It goes without saying all I wanted was some eggs, sausage and coffee and that was too tall of an order for this restaurant. There were only 3 restaurants in the terminal we were flying out of here at New Orleans airport. We chose Emeril's because we figured that since it had the name of former Food Network royalty Emeril Lagasse on it, it should be good. We were wrong. We each ordered a bloody mary. They were, hands down, the worst we've ever had, tasting nothing like a typical bloody mary. They also contained little discernible alcohol. My husband had enjoyed the gumbo he had on Bourbon Street the day prior, so he ordered the gumbo here at Emeril's hoping it'd be somewhat comparable. Wrong again. It was a flavorless, watery soup and was nothing close to authentic gumbo. It was also served in a paper cup with a paper lid rather than in an actual bowl. The pizza we ordered and shared was passable, but it was served with disposable plates and cutlery. The worst part is that even though everything we ate and drank was sub-par and came served with disposable plates and cutlery akin to a cheap takeout spot, nothing we had here was inexpensive. Well it is ok, I am not a fan of eating a meal on plastic with plastic utensils, especially not at an Emeril's restaurant. So I asked for a burger, no burgers. I asked for a shrimp pasta dish, no pasta dish. I asked for shrimp to be added to the Salad, no substitutions. So red beans it was. The Red beans were fine nothing exciting, I had to add salt and pepper. It was a good size portion at least. The Red Beans didn't satisfy me so I ordered a pizza and asked for onions to be added and I was told " I don't think we have onions". Really?? The drinks were fine 20$ each. I frequently visit MSY since I have family in Louisiana. When I fly Southwest or American home and I'm looking to sit down for dinner beforehand, Emeril's is one of my favorite picks. They serve local Cajun fare on the menu and as someone who has had a lot of it in my life, it hits the spot, even for airport food. It's usually pretty easy to get a table or spot at the bar because of how big it is, which is also nice since many of the other dining spots are very small and don't have a lot of seating. read more

We tried to eat there multiple times (3 times this year flying through MSY), and the first time, they weren't taking orders (to be fair it was during the busiest time during Taylor Swift concerts). The second time they were closed, and the most recent time we FINALLY got seated, just for them to say they didn't have the chicken and waffles (which were featured on the menu), so we left. What a pleasant surprise to find this Emeril's Table restaurant in the Louis Armstrong airport in my favorite city of New Orleans. The chicken was seasoned to perfection! The service un-attentive at best. 0 customer service. You have to order through their app so runners bring out the drinks,food etc. When sitting at a bar I expect better. Perhaps the worst airport restaurant. The server has to open your tab and you order via a QR code. This is great idea but the server has to open your tab before you can order. The server in our section saw us, served people next to us, and still didn't open our tab. We had to find the hostess who then scolded the server in front of us. It took 15 minutes or so for this. But it wasn't just us. Numerous other people had the same issue. It's either the hostess or they don't have a system for letting the server know to open a tab. The food is uninspired. Everything is deep fried except the caeser salad and turkey wrap. I had a turkey wrap because the "better for you" items advertised are non-existent. It was the most uninspired turkey wrap ever. Turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, an artichoke section (not even a whole artichoke heart) and a sauce that seemed like mayonnaise with some spices all in a plain old tortilla. And it was $18.49. Next time I fly through here, I'll try out Dook's or eat before I get to the airport. read more

I didn't get enough seafood while in New Orleans, so naturally this was the best option for me while at the airport. There aren't too many sit-in choices at MSY airport. I was at the B-wing, mostly for American Airlines flights. Honestly, we came around 2PM and our flight wasn't until 3:40. Kids and I were hungry. I wasn't expecting a full-blown experience or food. I (gulped) had to ignore the average 2.3 star rating on here and just went with it. I ordered the catfish po'boy, kids had the pepp pizza. They liked the pizza, crust was soft.
