Emerald City Energy/Intermountain Glass/McLendon Home Services Review Initial Contact: I contacted this business due to the "Five windows for $2000.00" offer I had found online. When I called to schedule the estimate the individual I spoke with was supremely knowledgeable and took the time to discuss the many features of a window install. He was upfront with the fact that I could do (5) windows for $2k, but that the additional windows for my project would cost more, and that their current promotions might give me a better overall product and pricing which is how I went. As I had been doing extensive research through many different companies up until this point, the individual was able to help fill my gaps in knowledge. I felt listened to and treated as a valued customer. Estimate: Randy Kendrick called me to discuss my job was amazing. When he came to my place he was detail oriented and also very kind. I was able to share my previous experiences with window quotes and he showed the differences between the products and install methods. One major thing I learned was that there two install methods. One being the block frame which was less expensive and more of a quick slap it in approach. Then there is the nail flange install which to me feels like a remodel; all the old windows are removed and everything down to the studs. Then they waterproof the opening, reinstall the windows, and placing new interior/exterior trim. This also provides a lifetime warranty for the installation process. I also learned that while a window may have a lifetime warranty, it is vital that the install has a lifetime warranty as well. Otherwise the window might be performing well but issues could be related to the install. Randy provided a quote based on either install method and I chose the more expensive nail flange install as my home was built in 1953 and I wanted the peace of mind of knowing that all my openings in the house have a clean bill of health for waterproofing and heat insulation in the northwest. As I am a hands on type of person, I wanted to see the product in person. Even though their showroom was under construction, Randy made time to meet me after hours at the local showroom in Bothell and let me demo the Milgard Trinsic and Milgard Tuscany windows I researched the window manufacturer (Milgard Tuscany) I found they have an amazing reputation, and any issues customers had were almost immediately remedied which included customers with windows over 20 years old. I also researched ECE/IMG/McLendon and learned they also had an amazing reputation and have been in business for over 20 years. Overall I had 5 estimates from many different companies for my 12 windows and they ranged between $10k (block frame with less reputable windows) up to $35K (Anderson Windows); Champion came in at $25k and was using the less expensive block frame method. Ultimately due to the install method I desired, the reputation of both Milgard and ECE/IMG/Mclendon, I chose them for my project which totaled at $18k. This included both inside/out trim and window casing replacement (my old trim was from 1953), a rain drop obscured double hung window, another double hung window, and the extra solar blocking on (4) windows that face the sun all day. Install: My install was handled by Trace and his team and was scheduled for (3) days for my 12 windows. I remotely opened my door from work for them to begin and when I arrived I found my house in neat condition despite them being in the middle of the project. I was on site for day 2 of the install and they worked around me and my children as we were doing remote work and school. On day 3 of the install they expressed concern of needing additional days to do the project due to the complexity of my window openings. Some of the openings were being changed in sizes. About an hour into that day 2-4 additional installers arrived and they were able to wrap up the project on time this last day. This was HUGE because we were living with all our furniture out of place due to needing to give 3 feet clearance for each window. The walkthrough I did on this project was so easy and simple. I reviewed each opening from the inside and out and there were ZERO issues. I'm truly amazed that a project this big and complicated was completed without any issues. The cleanup was done so effectively that when I walked through I found virtually no leftover debris. Also the exterior primed cedar looks amazing outside. It transformed my ¼ inch weather trim with 3.5 inch prime cedar. Even the wood looks good with the blue primer. The interior of my house looks like brand new with the new casings and trim. This was a major financial investment I made into my house, and cannot be happier with how it came out. My 1953 home looks SO MUCH BETTER! I can't say enough wonderful things about Intermountain Glass. I had all of the windows (23 big ones) and a kitchen door replaced in my home. Every aspect of this project was an unbelievably smooth process and a refreshingly pleasant and professional experience. Jeff did a fantastic job helping me in every aspect of choosing the best possible windows to go with my home, from the style and frame color, the way each window in the home now opens in the same direction--details he noticed with the old/existing windows that needed to be changed and he made sure were corrected when ordering the new ones, to helping me decide on the hardware finishes. I also really appreciated his patience with my initial indecisiveness and I never felt any pressure to rush into a decision. I was a bit overwhelmed at first because I had never given much thought to windows and never realized how many options are available. Jeff was great helping me narrow it down and pointing me in the right direction so that I felt good about my choices. Mike was awesome and fun to work with when he took measurements for ordering and made some great suggestions for framing the windows. I took Mike's advice and the end result couldn't be more perfect for my house and it is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't be happier with how everything looks. The installation team was also incredible and a cut above. They worked exceptionally quickly and efficiently, even with my distracting puppy who is sweet but also very demanding of attention and lots of it. They started and completed the project on time even after the old windows were removed and they found the siding was water-logged and needed to be replaced before the new windows could be installed to prevent water stains. Ben and Dwight were able to make new siding on site and replace the old soggy stuff. Curtis and Trace were also very skilled and professional. I am so impressed with how fantastic everything looks and how meticulous everyone was I wish they also did floors, roofing, and everything else I want done to my house! The estimate was dead on and was what I expected to pay for the job. It was definitely worth every penny and I'm very happy with the the cost and the quality of the product and workmanship I received in return. One other thing I'd like to note is that IM Glass came highly recommended to me and independently by both the home inspector that worked with me on the purchase of my home as well as the general contractor that is working with me on several other renovation projects. A big 5 stars from start to finish. Very professional, timely, attentive to detail, well priced, and exceptionally beautiful. I just had a large casement window installed by Intermountain Glass. My experience was nothing but wonderful, from the bid through the installation. Shane was running late for his initial visit, and he called to let me know. He was flexible in making the new time work for me since I had other obligations at the time. I really appreciated that. Although the Intermountain bid was not the lowest the information that I had received from Shane convinced me that this was going to be the highest quality window and the highest quality company to work with. The two subsequent visits prior to installation were both on time as scheduled. I was told to expected couple of weeks for about a five to six week wait for my window to be manufactured then few week for the installation. I received a call three weeks later saying my window was ready and we scheduled the installation for one week later. They were able to coordinate with my challenging work schedule. Needless to say I was thrilled. I received a very detailed email explaining exactly what they expected from me prior to the installation so I could do my part to assure that everything went smoothly and that there was no damage to my property, both inside and outside. The two installers, I wish I could remember their names, arrived exactly on time. They were obviously skilled at what they do. The two installers have been working together for 16 years, at Intermountain for 5. You could tell that they were a successful team, almost like one , of them was the left-hand and the other was the right hand on the same person. They protected the area and were very careful in all of the work they did to be sure there was no harm to the new window, to any of my furniture or to my house. The original window was challenging to remove because it was so large and so old, but they removed it and installed the new window skillfully. We had several questions throughout the installation which they answered in a very detailed manner. When they were finished installing the window they cleaned up the area completely including vacuuming the living room near the window. I love my new window! Because of the information Shane gave me initially gave me I was able to make a great choice of both the window and the company. I would choose Intermountain any time for my future window needs. Approximately 18 months ago, IMG replaced the nearly-20-year-old windows/sliding glass door in my condo. Throughout the process, from bidding, measurement, and on to scheduling and installation, I was extremely impressed. All the IMG employees I dealt with - Shane, the sales rep; Allison in the scheduling and billing office; the installation team; and IMG president, Don Clayton - were polite, friendly, helpful, and interested in making this a great experience for me, the customer. I always felt like I was in control. While the product was not inexpensive, the end product was worth EVERY CENT. The workmen were very careful about keeping my condo and the surrounding common areas tidy and safe while they performed the installation. And once they were gone, there was no trace that they'd been there, aside from my gorgeous new windows and casings. In addition to the beautiful product and attentive customer service, Intermountain Glass recently went above and beyond. I was involved in a dispute with my HOA when records of my window upgrades proved to be incomplete. IMG president Don Clayton and salesman Shane Drollinger stepped in to support me, delivering proper documentation and talking directly to our property manager on my behalf. Buying new windows is not something most of us do all the time so I was definitely nervous about finding the right company. We got bids for a replacement of 7 windows and a sliding door from a couple of companies (Washington Energy Services, Intermountain Glass, and two others I don't remember) and we decided to go with Intermountain Glass because they were tied for the lowest price and seemed to willing to spend the most time to explain their product. Our main sales contact (Shane) was very responsive over email (which was much more convenient for me than the phone) and answered all of our questions and gave us clear and accurate quotes. Again, I've never had a window installation but the crew seemed professional and did a thorough job cleaning up and minimizing the hassle for us. After the installation, they have been great at answering further questions and remain responsive even though I'm no longer an 'active' customer. I haven't had any problems with the windows and the condensation issues that I had with the old windows are gone! The little vertical vent things in the windows are also a cool option that we have liked that other companies didn't offer. I haven't bought windows before and I hope I don't have to replace windows in the near term but if I did, I would definitely go with Intermountain again! read more

We needed 4 new windows installed in our 1940 house. Existing windows were a single pane of glass with a storm window. Frank came out to give us an estimate on replacing the windows with annealed glass - because I didn't want low E coatings. After getting other bids, we went with IMG. When the guy (don't remember his name!) came out to do critical measurements, a problem arose. He wasn't sure if the annealed glass would work, so he removed some trim to really check the clearance and confirmed that our existing frames wouldn't work with the annealed glass windows. So, I called Frank back and he was THE BEST. He was so patient with all of my questions about low E windows and if they were a good fit for us. He ended up getting us a quote for the standard low E windows, but he also worked with the distributor to get us a special quote for non-low E windows. He really spent the time to get us a product at a price we were comfortable with. Installers Joe and Tony arrived on time and got right to work. Finished product looks great! I looked over the new windows carefully (because I'm very picky) and the work was neat and clean. No complaints! They cleaned up after themselves very well. Windows have been in for about 2 weeks now and no problems or issues. read more

We talked to three other window companies before consulting Intermountain Windows and Doors. Rather than arranging a time to send a sales person to our house (always a hassle) with a couple of samples and a catalog, Intermountain Windows and Doors invited us to their showroom in Bothell. It was much easier to see a variety of products and how they actually looked in a full frame. The rep at the showroom (Bradley) was very professional. He was knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. He answered our questions and drew up a diagram for us. The field supervisor (Trace) came out to look at the job. We wanted two picture windows replaced. We pointed out that the house is old (built in 1914) and there are no square corners anywhere. He was very communicative and patient with our questions. The installers (Riley, Courtney, and Steven) were top-notch! This definitely was NOT a "plug-and-play" job! They worked very hard getting the windows in and did a professional job. We immediately felt the improvement of the thermal retention in that part of the house. We had more windows (and a couple of doors) that need to be upgraded, and when the time comes, the job will go to Intermountain Windows and Doors! read more

I came to IMG with a broken coffee table glass top held together with packaging tape and my table top measurements. These guys did a great job of recommending that I go to the tempered or stronger glass and were agreeable to thicken the glass at my request due to kids in the house. Also at my request, they wrapped the glass in packing material to protect it for the ride home. Yes, it might be tempered and stronger but in my mind it is still glass so I sure appreciated the extra protection as silly as the request might have been! I also used them for a job 5 years ago in replacing a 20-year old master bedroom aluminum double pane sliding window where the vacuum was compromised and was fogging up. Again, I brought the window to them for sizing. The quality and workmanship was great, the window fit and slides perfectly. I feel they want the customer to be satisfied and strive for a long term relationship even though it maybe years before I go back with a window or glass issue. We had a three panel folding door installed by Trace Nelson and Genaro. This was the best contractor crew I've ever worked with. They were meticulous in the install and clean up and always kept me updated on progress and timeliness. I asked them to cut out the siding in one piece so I could use it to replace other siding on the home and despite it being more effort they happily did so. When they cut drywall they always had a guy holding a shop vac right under the blade to get all the drywall dust. In addition to the crew David in their office kept us informed at every step and was extremely helpful in squeezing us in on their calendar in between larger jobs. And as a follow-up item we had a issue with the door handle not locking well. I called David and he had Trace out within a week to inspect, a new handle ordered and an estimated time to repair. Trace is coming over today to fix it. Can't say enough about this company. I will definitely be working with them again read more

We just had an extensive, complex window install completed by Intermountain Glass. There were ten windows in total, including a new sliding door patio door. The results were outstanding - the new windows (vinyl Milgard) replaced a bunch of old 80's aluminum windows. They are so much better (quieter, not ice cold to stand near at night) and the install was, overall, great. They did a great job in advising us which windows to buy and the ideal install style for our house. And the end result are very solidly installed windows, plenty of caulk around them, that slide nicely and look awesome on our house. Prices were also better than any other quotes we received and they managed to get our work completed very quickly. i will call IMG again when I'm ready for windows in our recently purchased house. Customer satisfaction is their goal and they proved it to me. They replaced all the windows for the house we just sold doing a very neat and thorough job inside and out. Windows look great. Somehow the order was one window short but they secured a replacement right away and it was installed shortly after the other windows. I also learned that one must go over the preorder window list thoroughly making sure all windows open the way discussed. We had several types. When all were installed I realized three didn't look right for the house. They asked me to ponder them for a week. I did and decided they needed to be changed. They worked with me to make the change and made us very happy. Can't ask for better. read more

We recently purchased a home that had original single pane aluminum windows. We replaced every window in the house as well as added a sliding door and dropped the sill on a few windows. Shane was very helpful and receptive to our needs even when we changed our minds a few times. Trace was our installation lead and did a great job. The crew cared about their product and would get our buy off for any details that had not yet been discussed. The project took longer than expected due to our windows being difficult to remove. We did have to schedule additional days, but the crew always showed up on time and was professional. Martin and Lincoln did an excellent job removing 4 Weathervane windows from our 1990's built home and installing 4 new windows. Windows were on the main level and also upstairs. Everything went very smoothly! They arrived on time (a few minutes early, actually) worked for 9 hours straight and completed the job in 1 day. Martin explained everything to me before they began working, checked in with me during the day to let me know everything was going well and did a final walkthrough inspection with me at the end of the job. They used drop cloths inside to minimize the mess and cleaned up everything (including blowing sawdust off my car) before they left. My second window replacement by IMG was just finished. I had a 70 year old picture window replaced with 3 single hung windows which required new framing support and exterior trim. This involved cutting the siding and a new sill. They also put new exterior trim on the front door adjacent to the window and replaced the rotten threshold. The crew was great, did a beautiful job, and cleaned up the site perfectly. I was concerned about how this was going to look and had several discussions with the salesman, Randy, who was patient and explained the process in detail. While the work was being done, I asked Tony to change a detail after he had done it and he changed it without hesitation. I can't recommend them enough. read more

We had a great experience with Intermountain Glass. We hired them to replace all the windows of our house. The process was seamless. Shane Drollinger came out and gave us an estimate, the measurements he took for the new windows were perfect, they ordered the windows and everything came out on time. The contractors showed up about 4 weeks later to install. Their professionals worked very efficiently all day and replaced all our windows by the end of that day. Each time we deal with them their sales staff are knowledgeable and know just what to suggest; their scheduling; billing; and overall administration are great to work with especially since most of us are not home during the business day.
