Inside is cute, clean and organized. I really like the bar area. In the summer it would be a vibe! Customer service was on point! Very relatable and friendly. Food was delicious!!! Great portions. Flavorful. Fresh. It was honestly perfect. A GEM!

We went here for a friends birthday and had a blast! While small the decor is edgy and cool but clean at the same time. Our server was so nice and fun! The food was absolutely amazing. Portions were huge and everything came out piping hot. This was my first experience with embur and I will be back!

Empanada and yucca fries also pretty

Overall, a decent place. I ordered the empanada, which was pretty good with a flavorful filling. The yuca fries were also solid, crispy and well-prepared. For my main dish, I had the half roasted chicken with a side salad and red sauce. The sauce was very spicy, which I personally enjoyed. The chicken itself was good, nothing extraordinary, but certainly not bad. The service was fantastic, very attentive and friendly throughout the meal.

Embur was a great experience! Three of us grabbed lunch today and this was my first time trying it! I got the chicken empanada, house salad, and Ronda Caliente. The salad was light and refreshing with an amazing vinaigrette. The empanada was baked and filled with flavorful chicken. The waiter brought us an array of sauces. I loved the pico, the green sauce, the yellow sauce and the chimi churri. The Ronda Caliente was delicious. It comes with skewers of shrimp, salmon, chicken, and beef. I subbed my salmon skewer for a chicken one which they were super accommodating about. We all enjoyed our meals and the staff were wonderful! The restaurant was spacious and clean with an open layout.

If you're looking for a real Peruvian restaurant, you've found it! The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is very good! We ordered the shrimp iza as a starter, which is a super refreshing and light appetizer. The lomo saltado was well-made. Now, the highlight is the ceviche: very well-served, appetizing and beautiful! The kind of dish that makes you feel happy at the end! The only thing I would point out is the lack of a changing table for mothers with children. Other than that, I already want to go back!

I haven't been here in years and I am not sure why because I've been missing out. This place is fantastic, everything is delicious - made well and the service is outstanding. I really enjoyed the beef empanadas as an appetizer. I ordered a strawberry mojito Mocktail that was absolutely amazing and fresh. The Lomo Saltado was cooked to perfection and to top it off we got a tiramisu that was insanely good. I need to start coming back more often! It's a killer.

Had to cure my churrasco craving! While the dish was absolutely delish the price tag was high for the portion. The skirt steak was seasoned very well but keep your water near by there is some spice there that may catch you off guard! The house rice was also very good but I would have liked a larger portion with the price tag or perhaps an additional side. The atmosphere was lively for Friday lunch hour, nearly full. The bartender was nice and quite excited to show off his exceptional mojito skills. I look forward to returning to try the lunch special and empanadas in the future.

I still haven't had a bad meal here, not even a mediocre meal! My wife and I came for the rotisserie chicken. That was flavorful and tender, and came with a tasty, creamy sauce. The side choices are rice and beans, house rice, or what my wife and I chose, steak fries AND a salad. Yum to both. The fries had a semi course salt and the salad greens and tomato were perfectly fresh. The service was very good: prompt and friendly. We sat outside because the inside was a bit chilly. If you haven't been here yet, you're really missing out!

Another visit to Embur to enjoy a delicious meal w the family. They have a good selection of Peruvian dishes, but my favorite food is ceviche. We all cleaned up all our plates and ordered chicken to go. They also have inka Lola and chicha morada if you want the full experience. Service is outstanding! Love the interior, there's a bar area and patio seating.

We tried the Arroz con Mariscos and the Bistec a lo Pobre and let's just say, we left full and highly impressed. The seafood rice was loaded - like actually loaded - with shrimp, mussels, and more, all tossed in a rich, savory sauce that had just enough depth to make you actually slow down and appreciate it (or at least try to before inhaling it). Then the Bistec a lo Pobre, the ultimate Peruvian comfort food. Juicy steak, caramelized onions, rice and beans, and a fried egg on top - bc of course. Somehow everything works together without feeling over the top. The service was warm and welcoming. The staff is super helping at explaining the dishes and offering suggestions. The atmosphere is casual but inviting - nothing flashy, just a cozy spot that lets the food do the talking. Bottom line: come hungry, bring adventurous tastebuds, and maybe wear stretchy pants!

Love the interior decor, with an added covered patio on bustling Elm St. Service was quick and friendly as well. The ceviche had excellent flavors with the lime juice, red onions and cilantro. The fish was tasty, but a few pieces were a bit tough, not your typical melt in your mouth ceviche style fish. But the flavors made up for it and then some. The Lomo Saltado (steak, tomatoes, onions, peppers fired up in a wok) had complex and exceptional flavors as well. Again, some of the meat was a bit tough and chewy. But again, the authentic Peruvian flavors shined. Instead of fries, I chose the fried yucca as a side and these were outstanding. Perfectly fried, tender and flavorful. Dipping these in the sauce the meat was bathed in was heavenly. Had the fish and meat been a little more tender, these would have easily been 5 star dishes. Overall, an amazing authentic Peruvian spot, that with a little tweaks, would be a 5 star joint 100%. Looking forward to trying some of their other amazing dishes on the menu.

I was in town for business and as in every location I travel to, I look for Peruvian food. This is in my top three. One was in Austin, TX, one in St Louis, MO and now this one in Durham, NC. I had the lunch special. It included a drink, soup and entree. Of course you have to drink Inca Cola (tastes like Squirt with Cream Soda) nice and cold. I'll have to get a Chicha Morada to take with me (which I did, and it was fruity and sweet, like a non-alcoholic sangria with cinnamon). The soup was a chicken and lentil soup with various veggies. As soon as I tasted it, I knew I was in for a treat and prayed the Aji de Gallina would be just as good. It was! Aji de Gallina is a shredded chicken dish made with Peruvian Aji amarillos, nuts, Parmesan cheese. Add in all the delicious spices Peru is known for and you have a wonderful, homey, delicious dish. I will be coming back tonight for dinner. Can't decide if I want the Seco de Res or the Lomo Saltado. Both staple dishes in Peru. Part 2 - so...I was too tired to go back for dinner. BUT, I did order in. I got the Papa à la Huancaina (so delicious, it tasted like I make at home). It is a creamy, Aji Amarillo cheese sauce over yellow potatoes. I would have liked it a little spicier, but I understand having to cater to the general public, so I'll let that slide. But the flavor was as good as you could get. I also opted to order the Seco since I thought it would travel better than the Lomo Saltado. The rice was perfect. Not soggy or spongy. Just right. Flavored with a little salt and garlic. You could eat it by itself. The Seco meat was tender. I didn't even use a knife to cut it. In fact, it pulled apart easily with a plastic fork. I would have liked a little more of the cilantro sauce to soak up in my rice. The flavors were right on, but I love cilantro...so. It even came with a Salsa Criolla (lightly pickled red onion), which is authentic and served with many Peruvian dishes. I ordered additional salsa amarillo just to taste. It's a sauce made with aji amarillo and black mint. I know it sounds weird but it's actually so tasty and fresh. My only disappointment were the beans not that they weren't good and flavorful, but they were pinto beans. I was really expecting mayacoba beans (similar to a white canary bean). Sorry, I ate it before thinking about taking pictures. All in all, I would rate this highly for those wanting to try authentic Peruvian food. My next visit to Durham I'll be trying the Ceviche and Lomo Saltado.

It's billed as Peruvian rotisserie chicken and Mexican food, but apparently the Mexican cook wasn't there so no one could fix a taco. So we tried to order from the Peruvian menu, but they didn't have the chicken on there either. At this point, we just said give us whatever you have, which turned out to be a leg quarter, fries and small salad. The chicken was very juicy and had been rubbed with a spice mixture that had garlic, cumin, salt.pepper, garlic and onion powder i think. I would have liked to have the skin cooked more crispy, but otherwise it was pretty good and the mustard-based Peruvian hot sauce was great with it. The salad was lettuce shreds with tomato and cucumber slice with a mustard and vinegar based dressing, it was ok but hard to eat with a plastic fork. The fries were just typical frozen fries, but they were hot, crisp and pretty good when doused with their hot sauce. Also had what was supposed to be a pineapple agua fresca, but it just tasted like coconut which i detest so that got returned. The plate was $7.99 which i think is a bit high for what you get. This wasn't bad, but it wouldn't cause me to go out of the way to get it again. If i were there and hungry i would go back. It's not nearly as good as the place up the street that went out of business, so i don' think this place will last long unfortunately. The man that runs it was super nice and helpful, so I wish him well.
