While going on vacation with my cousin and our wives. We decided to get a quick drink and we ordered 3 draft beers and a house wine. We got our drinks in about 5 min. I asked how much and he said he didn't know and he didn't have a receipt but my card went through no problem. I didn't want to make an issue, being with my relatives. When I got the bill it was $110.00. The waiter decided to tip himself 37%. No wonder he did not give me a receipt. Just as info beware. read more

Food was ok but service was terrible. We were splitting an item and asked waitress for extra plate. She gave us a sh!tty look and walked off. Never brought the plate. You can't tip here based on service because it's pay up front. There are much better places at IAH to grab a quick bite. read more

First of all... the iPads don't work, sole purpose was to play games, eat and have a beer while I waited for my flight and let my electronics charge.... secondly, 25 minutes went by.. got my beer after 10. The guy next to me sat down and got his burger within 5 minutes of sitting after I waited for 25 min. .. asked the waiter to make my appetizer Brussels sprouts to go because I was now going to have to rush to my flight.... The food is better than the average airport food but not worth the prices. I had a bacon and cheese omelette and a Coke for breakfast and tab with tip was $25. Ouch. The eggs were dry and flavorless. Again, airport food, but still. Worst part is that service was insanely slow. I never get a refill on my $3.75 Coke. Not worth it. read more

Just the other night my family and I where coming from Cobo Mexico had a couple of hours to kill so we ate at this establishment. Not used to the tablets to order so the waiter help us to place our order. When we got the bill i notice the waiter put $9.84 tip that i did not approve! But of course the waiter was gone so today 7/13/17 i called customer service and bitch about the waiter. So watch out!!!!!!! DO NOT TRUST ANYONE THERE!!!!! read more

For what would be considered a more upscale airport restaurant, they don't have it figured out yet. The tablet ordering system leads to food delivered before silverware, missed drinks, and no connection with an actual person as your server. I used the server call button and no response for 10 minutes. Steak was over cooked. I had my bill emailed to me before I even tasted the steak or had the glass wine poured, so no way to go back and adjust tip for poor service. If I'm going to a more expensive airport restaurant I'll take a good server with human interaction any day over what I experienced here with the tablet. Very disappointing. I understand they have only been open a month, and I hope they make changes, because I won't me back unless they do. read more

Extremely slow service and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Took over 30 minutes to get a breakfast order. I think we only got it when we did because I asked our waiter where our food was. Staff doesn't move with any sense of urgency including the kitchen staff which you can see from the dining room. Definitely skipping next time I'm at IAH. read more

Way overpriced but at least the portions were small and not great. Had a shrimp cocktail (shrimp was mealy and had been very frozen), cheese plate (featuring 3 small pieces of cheese, a few pecans, 3 toasted bread crusts?? and 3 tbsp of stone ground mustard...why?), and bottle of Murphy Goode cab ($12 in local grocery). With tip, came to $97. The tablets on table block any discussion so we dangled them off back of table to chat. Now we are walking next door to Potbelly so we can actually eat. read more

Terrible service. Paid 50 dollars and waited close to 45 minutes without a server even addressing my boyfriend and I. Had to end up leaving before we even got our food because it was taking too long and our flight was boarding. Paid 50 dollars to not even receive our food, on top of 18 percent gratuity for an imaginary waiter. They make you pay to put in the order so you give gratuity before even being served. Would not recommend and definitely won't stop emailing until I receive a refund. read more

We had time before our flight so our team chose Ember to get lunch. You order via the iPad installed on the table. They served the food but had to wait for the utensils to be provided. Ten minutes past and we ended up with cold food and no utensils in sight. We also ordered coffee that never came even though we requested via iPad for a sever to help us. We had to walk up to the bar to ask them for our coffee. Your tab closes when you do not put in your pin code (last 4 digits of your credit card number) and tip defaults to 18%. No wonder the servers do not make an extra effort because they get the same amount of tip. read more

Food was fine. Ambience was pleasant. However, when it came time to settle the bill, I was informed by the server that since the ordering was all done on online, they could not issue me a physical receipt. It could only be sent electronically to my email. I travel on business for a living, and this is the first time I have ever heard this nonsense. Subsequently, I never did receive my receipt via email. Hence, I had to file a complaint with my credit card company to obtain the receipt. The fact that ordering is done online does not mean that the waitstaff do not need to do anything. Maybe the waitstaff have been watching too much of "The Jetsons" and expect everything to be done autonomously, including obtaining a receipt. Maybe customers should cook and pick up their own food as well. Embers Steakhouse is exactly as its name suggests - embers. read more

Stay away from this place I ordered a beer and a sandwich after waiting 45 minutes I aaked the bartender where is my food? He said it was not in the system. I showed him the iPad and the order.. I paid for it. He said we can have it out to you in 30 minutes. I said I can't wait for another 30 minutes.. he said would credit my debit card.. then he started making drinks for other people.. as I waited another 5 minutes.. I said hey are you going to credit me.. he said I will email you.. I said you dont have my email address. I said give me a print out. He claimed I do not have paper. Low quality food and drinks with a high quality price Both our meals were not edible.

We ordered our food in an empty restaurant this past Tuesday morning in the new C concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (gates C4 through C12). We sat there for 25 to 30 minutes when we realized our food would not be delivered within the next 5 minutes (we had to queue up for our flight in 15 minutes). Sadly, we counted 6 people in the kitchen, but none were rushing to get orders out. All of us who travel extensively and eat at sit-down airport restaurants know that we are always dazzled when they deliver our food within 5 to 10 minutes of ordering. We had to cancel our order, which we could not do personally because we had to order using an iPad. We had to trust the manager trainee to charge us only for the two coffees and orange juices and reverse the charges for the rest of the meal, which included a Bloody Mary. By the way, I paid for a double Bloody Mary (since we had a 5 1/2 flight ahead of us) but there was barely a single shot of vodka in the Bloody Mary. I had to send it back, too, as I was not going to pay for a double shot when it barely contained a single shot. We then had to rush around looking for a sandwich shop without a long queue so we could get to the gate to board with our boarding group. We ended up eating sandwiches for brunch on the plane, which is not my preference. Inevitably, we will be assigned to gates C4 through C12, again, but we will not choose to eat or drink at Embers. read more

Terrible experience at Embers in the Houston international airport. The waitress was good but that was about the only thing good about my experience. First of all you order through an iPad which would be OK but it minimizes communication with both the waitress and the kitchen staff. When I received my food it was not prepared correctly and when the waitress took it back, the kitchen told her that they had run out of some of the ingredients. Furthermore the food I received was not of the quality that I would expect from such an expensive place. It was below average. In fact my pork belly was overcooked and many of my mussels were closed which would mean they were either dead when cooked or not cooked properly. Perhaps I expected too much in the airport even from a fine dining restaurant. Additionally a different waitress and a member of the kitchen staff got into a heated argument near my table and in front of many other customers. Very very unprofessional. I can only guess that the management staff is not doing their proper job. Another item to note is the tab automatically closed out after about 30 to 40 minutes. This was even though they had an option on the iPad to close your tab. That does not help the waitstaff at all as they automatically get the standard tip. If a customer wants to tip them more they're not going to get that additional money because the tab is already closed. If the service is poor it also doesn't allow for lowering the tip. I overheard other conversations of customer dissatisfaction due to being improperly overcharged. The management did not appear to be very responsive to any of these obvious problems. I filled out a survey that they sent me via email. I asked for an email response we'll see... read more

If I were able to rate them zero stars I would. First off we had to clean off our table, as did the couple next to us. Second, you have to order from an iPad and it defaults to a 18% tip. At this point we still haven't communicated with anyone from Embers. Beverages and food came out together without any silverware or napkins. We did ask the person delivering our order to clean the table for us and bring out silverware and napkins which he did. My wife had a glass of wine, I had a beer and we each had a salad for $71. This included a 10% tip, which I regret giving. Terrible customer service procedures. Food was average. My $7.50 Shiner Bach tasted great! read more

I liked the modern menu on an iPad but did not appreciate having to pay and tip before our food was even started. The waiter was also less than friendly helping us navigate the order and even made fun of us for not doing it right. We were served drinks (lemonade) in tiny glasses, told there were no free refills and when we asked for water when they brought the food we were told it "wasn't their department." Our waiter made a remark about how thirsty we were when he had to refill our 6 oz glasses. Food was mediocre but service was lame. read more

This place reminds me of that really cool guy from high school... The one who had some money and wore cool clothes and drove a shiny ride. On the exterior, the place looked cool but once you sit down you realize that it sucks. Service has been replaced with tablets... So all ordering is done without interaction from your server. If you you want a refill or extra ketchup you are screwed. I will admit the food was actually really good, however it doesn't offset the fact that we talked to a person twice in the hour we were there. read more

Horrible dining experience. My food came out 20 minutes after my wife's. You have to determine tip amount prior to getting any service. Steak was bad. Had the steak of the day - a 1/4 inch thick ribeye. Also, can't print a receipt. Which is useful for expending a business meal. The server was nice and apologetic. read more

Absolutely horrible. Shepard should disassociate his name from this. Food was awful, service was worse. I don't expect much from an airport, but this was a particular disappointment read more

Wish I had seen the dismal reviews first. No welcome, no "would you like a coffee", no refill offer, only an app that states "would you like to order another coffee?". It looks so nice and there are servers around, just not to serve you. I ordered on the iPad and waited and nothing happened. Most good breakfast restaurants offer you a coffee on the way in while you wait for your food. Here they come out at the same time. You've seen me twice. The first and last. read more

Had a 4 hour layover at the Houston Airport and stopped at this place for a bite to eat. I should have passed on it and went to Wendy's instead. Way over priced and the food is not that great. Ordered a chicken wrap, onion rings, and an iced tea and the total of the bill amounted to about $25.00! The chicken wrap was not very good, the onion rings consisted of 5 rings, and the iced tea was served in a 6 oz glass. I should have have checked some previous reviews before dining in this place. read more

Absolutely worst service in the world!!! It should have been a warning sign when you had to seat yourself-- especially at a busy airport!!! we grab the table that is just vacated...and NO one...not one waiter came by to pick up the empty glasses and plates that we moved to the empty table next to us so that we can eat on a clean surface. the waiter came to clear the EMPTY table next to us, not our table! And he cleared that table by swiping the crumbs in my direction! What the helll!!!! we ordered our burger, coke and shrimp sandwich on the ipad. there was no way to ask for some tap water. the tiny glass of coke cost 4 bucks! each time was a different waiter who brought the food to us. they sneak up on you and place your food on your table and disappear! my shrimp sandwich arrived first and it took forever for the burger to arrive next. I was half way through the sandwich before the burger appeared! we had to grab the utensils from the empty table next to us that waiter cleaned...the WHOLE time we were there, that waiter never came to clean our table or give us utensils. waste of time and money, go somewhere else!!! read more

I was waiting for a flight last night and had a little over an hour before boarding. I imagined that I would have enough time for a nice dinner before getting to my gate. I'll make this review short: I paid $19.00 for one bourbon and coke. I ordered the pork chop. It has no sides. it was $28.00. Sides were about $10.00 if you ordered. My initial order of a drink, and pork chop, and macaroni and cheese came to $72.00 with the automated gratuity! I ditched the mac and cheese and it was $58.00. It took 50 minutes to get the pork chop. Too late for me to eat it and catch my flight. I had them make it "TOGO". I tried to heat it up when I got home (in the oven not the Microwave) and it was really not very good at all. I actually threw it away giving up on it being tasty later. Very poor use of $58.00. The wait staff never asked if I needed anything or checked on the progress of my food. The idiotic IPAD ordering system does not give progress or allow me to call a server over. And I sat at the bar. 3 feet from my server. Definitely skip EMBER. Not worth you time or money, no matter how much extra you have of either. read more

Don't walk, run away from this joke of a eating establishment. Our connecting flight's gate was so far away we kept waking past various dinner options so we wouldn't have to jog to our gate after we ate. Little did we know there would be only one option that served adult beverages near gate C3. It looked inviting enough but when I asked the server where we needed to enter to be seated his answer was "anywhere", mind you he did this without looking up at me. The only table available hadn't been cleaned so we moved the dirty glasses to the empty place setting at our table. I'm a techie so using the iPad to order was kinda cool and trendy but the rest of the meal went downhill. We ordered cocktails first to get them going once we decided on food we added it to our tab. I didn't time it but It couldn't have been a minute and the food was delivered but still waiting on the cocktails. My soup didn't come with a spoon so by the time I received it the chowder was lukewarm. When my husband's Grey Goose (on the rocks) finally arrived it had sweet vermouth, yuck! So then he waits again for a new beverage. The food was bland there wasn't any salt, pepper, ketchup or mustard so once again we had to flag someone down. I don't know if the idea was to get travelers in and out faster or to save labor costs either way next time we won't walk past a sure thing. read more

Burger looks great, but is under seasoned. They should be careful describing the bun as "brioche" considering the restaurant is located in an international airport - a person of French nationality may be offended. The onion ring upgrade again was nothing special - not beer-battered or dusted with special spices, just overall very greasy (drain the fried food before you serve it) and mediocre. Even for airport food, this was incredibly overly priced and not worth the wait. read more

Terrible argumentative service, terrible Bloody Mary and ridiculous wait times and prices. AVOID!

The IPad based menus didn't work at all, the prices were way too high ($17 for a burger) and the food was not good at all. The service was polite but our order was messed up multiple times and the waiter just had to ask us to repeat our orders to him 3 different times to get it right. I would avoid this place, there's better options close by. read more
