Appetizer: Spiked Calamari

Solid Service, Decent Food - But Skip the Cocktails- 05/24/2025 I visited Tavern and Tap for the very first time while attending my sister-in-law's son's high school graduation party. Even though I've known about this place for years, I never felt compelled to try it, until now. And honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. Customer service was impressive, especially given the size of our party. The servers had to juggle a large crowd, but you wouldn't have known it, they remained calm, professional, and friendly throughout. I imagine they may have felt overwhelmed behind the scenes, but they handled everything with ease and grace. As for the food, it was solid American-style cuisine. Nothing fancy, which fits the name and vibe of the restaurant. Everything we tried was decent to good. However, the cocktails were a letdown. I ordered a Loaded Strawberry Lemonade Cocktail, and it tasted like Kool-Aid or fruit punch, no kick at all. My daughter had the Strawberry Lemon Drop and said the same thing: more juice than cocktail. What We (me, my daughter, and hubby) Ordered & Ratings: Fried Calamari - 3/5 Fried Deviled Eggs - 3/5 Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich - 4/5 Sweet Potato Tots - 5/5 Tavern Wings (Lemon Pepper) - 4/5 Tavern Wings (Nashville Spicy) - 4/5 Ambience: 2/5 The vibe was pretty dull, no music, no flat screens on, and not much atmosphere. It felt more like a quiet lunch spot than a lively tavern. Final Thoughts: Brick House Tavern and Tap isn't a destination spot, but it's a decent place for casual dining with reliable service and decent food. Just don't come expecting strong drinks or a lively atmosphere.

Came here after a walk at the nearby park. The service was great, waiters were very attentive. I got the zombie drink which has 4 diff rums and was delicious. It tasted just like a rum punch. I got the September burger of the month which was a double patty burger with quesadillas instead of a traditional burger bun. I've never had anything like it before, it was a 10/10 for sure! The ambiance was nice and they have a nice dog friendly patio. Spacious parking lot too, def will be back!

Fish and chips

So this has always been one of our to go places for the fish and chips due to price, taste of food and portion size. This time we were highly disappointed not only did they change the fish (they are now strips instead of whole) the fries were overly cooked and thrown on the plate whereas before they were in little buckets. The customer service was mediocre our food was dropped off, checked on us once, didn't refill our glasses and it was not that many people so no excuse. On top of that we had to wait extremely long for her to pick up the final check. We definitely wont be in a rush to go back.

Great atmosphere and always nice employees. Was also great that they have inside and outside open to the bar on nice days. Food. Well they have some good food though my grilled chicken sandwich was just too much bread and fell apart when eating it. They cut it into quarter sections then skewer them. I just wanted a whole sandwich...no need to present it this way as it just falls apart. Also it had the bottom and top bun and they put another piece of bread in the middle like a big Mac. Way too much bread. Place was very slow, maybe 3 tables and 3 other people at bar and my sandwich took 25 minutes. I'm sure it was just a one time thing but I'll be back there to see and try something different.

Ashlin was by far the best bartender in town! Beer was cold and burger was amazing!!!

I finished the Duo Bacon Burger !

We had a wonderful time. The service and food was wonderful. My husband David ordered the Duo Bacon Burger with 2 patties, Canadian bacon, hash browns and a fried egg on top and finished it all. The waitress Jaycee was wonderful and made our visit so pleasant.

Hadn't been to this location I. Years but decided to go by before a flight out of Bush IAH. Great patio area to enjoy when the weather is nice and friendly staff. Had the chicken and waffles since I would not be eating again for a while and it did not disappoint. It was tasty and well portioned to hold me over for an early dinner.

I don't think I've ever gone to a breakfast spot and loved their eggs like they were scrambled in my own kitchen. The chicken sage sausage and moon dusted potatoes, were almost the stars of the dish! We drove about an hour to get there and it was very well worth it. The restaurant is in a plaza with other stores and restaurants so there's plenty of parking right out front. We had a 20 minute wait we ended up sitting outside which was a nice covered spot. We ordered the truffle fries, firecracker shrimp with a side of grits & beignets to start off. The girls are called creamy dreamy and they absolutely live up to their name. The best grits ever! Super creamy and cheesy. The firecracker shrimp was tasteful and savory and we loved the truffle fries. We also ordered a biscuit bc the place is called the flying biscuit how could we not? Our server Susana was amazing super sweet and accommodating she gave us great recommendations and I'm so glad to have come across her! She definitely added to our experience The restaurant itself was super cute and colorful i loved the paintings on the wall and i should mention that the bathroom was super cute! I'm so glad we went to the flying biscuit I'd definitely go again next time I'm in town!

We try to support local Kingwood are restaurants and hadn't been to Union Kitchen in quite a while. We arrived and asked for a table for 6, the dining room was busy so they said it would be a few minutes. Then 3 more of our group we hadn't expected arrived and the hostess quickly let the servers know to make our table larger. We only had to wait 8 or 9 minutes and were seated in the side dining room which was great as it was not crowded so it was easy to talk without a lot of ambient noise from the more crowded main room. I believe one of the assistant managers began taking drink orders as our designated server was finishing up some tables nearby. She had a great sense of humor and quickly went to get our drinks. FYI, they have both an All Day menu and a lunch special one which we hadn't seen before a their website so that is an option and is a bit less expensive with smaller servings than the All Day one. As it was April 15, they had a special small Tax Day menu where everything was prices at $4.15! What a cute idea! We all ordered our lunches and soon we were enjoying what was brought out. I had the special lentil soup and the blackened salmon tacos, my wife had the 1/2 lb classic burger and the house made potato chips. Everything was excellent. Glad we stopped by for our group lunch.

We saw it online and loved the vast menu selection so we thought we'd give it a try. From the exterior, it doesn't look like much almost looks like you could be walking into a craft store or a boot barn cause it's just in a shopping mall strip center. But once you enter inside, the dark wood, the wine bottles, the lighting all creates a very nice ambience of an upscale restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. We were just grabbing a bite to eat before a movie and this place turned out to be much nicer than me. I previously anticipated. We decided to order off of the Happy Hour menu so that we could try several things. We got the queso dip of course...because, when in Texas...We also got the crabcakes and a cheeseburger with truffle fries. They had some great drink specials, but we got ice tea instead. That was plenty of food for two of us to share. Out of the three items that we ordered off the Happy Hour menu, I would say the cheesburger was the best! The bun was small enough to not be overwhelming and the meat had a very nice barbecue taste. The crabcakes were OK as was the queso. Our waiter gave excellent service! Can't remember his name, but he was tall and I believe had dirty blonde hair. The entire meal was super yummy with excellent service and convenient. Couldn't ask for more. We definitely recommend this place. We wanted to get beignets for dessert, but we were too full to order anything else. Oh and if you go at Happy Hour, even if you're not drinking, everything on the Happy Hour menu is 50% off. Check it out!

Our waiter was excellent and gave solid recommendations. I ordered the blueberry margarita and it was sooo good--sweet, refreshing, and definitely a win. Our waiter suggested the smokehouse platter to share, and we added an order of truffle fries. Let me just say... those truffle fries were AMAZING. Thick-cut, crispy, and full of flavor--hands down the best thing on the table. The smokehouse platter was more than enough food for two people. The brisket sliders were tender and flavorful, the wings were great, the pickled peppers were a nice touch, and the ribs were finger-licking good. The only downside was the potato skins--they were just meh compared to everything else. Overall, great food, great service, and a really nice atmosphere. I would definitely go back, especially for a date night or casual dinner.

The place is inside a hotel but has access from both outside and inside the hotel lobby. SERVICE: We sat at the bar, received our menus and asked for two coffees, which never came. A while later, a different server/bartender asked if you want drinks we requested a coffee again. We had to request various items multiple times from multiple people before they were actually brought over to us. No big deal, we weren't in any particular rush, but have you ever gotten that feeling like you're bothering the server every time you ask for something? That was that feeling. I was still eating when we were handed our check. We paid. We were planning on staying for mimosas after eating, so we asked for 2 mimosas we were handed our drinks with a check. Again, the place was not busy, to the extent that the staff was hanging out and talking in a group. (That doesn't bother me, we all deserve some adult conversation.) We felt in the way so we paid and decided to go elsewhere for some mimosas. FOOD: I had the waffle with a side of bacon. Waffle was served warm, crisp & soft as a waffle should be. It was nice and thick and a great size, plus it was delicious! I couldn't finish it, I was soo full! The pecan butter was scrumptious and the berries were fresh and sweet. Both in great proportion to the waffle. The bacon was crispy and served warm. Overall a delicious and plentiful breakfast. CLEANLINESS: The place was clean, clean. The bar, general restaurant area and bathrooms were all spic & span.

When we arrived, First Watch looked pretty busy, but we were pleasantly surprised that we were seated right away. The hostess was very kind and welcoming, and our waiter was just as nice... cordial, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. The service was definitely one of the highlights. For food, we both ordered the Trifecta. I chose the waffle with potatoes instead of eggs, along with their chicken sausage patty, and I added a side salad with mixed greens and a lemon herb dressing. I also added a side of chicken. Initially, I thought the chicken breast would be about $2.50, but before placing the order our waiter came back and clarified that it would be about $5 and would come as strips instead of a full chicken breast. I appreciated him coming back to correct that. When the chicken came out, it was sliced into very thin pieces and was a little lukewarm. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he apologized and handled it professionally by removing it from the bill, which I appreciated. Overall, the food was okay, about a 3.5 out of 5 for me. The waffle was tasty, just as I remembered, and the potatoes were good as well. However, the chicken sausage patty wasn't very good. I personally didn't enjoy it and ended up leaving it on the plate. My husband ordered the pancake with pecans, scrambled eggs, and a side of grits with butter, and he enjoyed his meal. One thing I did like was that you can now pay your bill directly from your phone, which makes it really convenient when you're ready to go without waiting. Overall, the big win here was the service and hospitality. The staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient, and we appreciated being seated quickly even when it seemed busy.
