I called around to some other locksmiths who quoted me fairly reasonable prices however, one locksmith recommended Ottinger and sons and said to ask for Jason. I called Jason and got an initial quote, which was very reasonable and called him back the following week to schedule an appointment. as I was talking with him, I realized he was at dinner with friends, but he was still taking time to make sure he got me on his schedule. I was more than willing to call back, but he insisted on making sure we got the appointment on his calendar. Jason called me the morning of our appointment to confirm and called me again that afternoon to tell me he was at one job, wrapping up across town and would be to my location quickly. He called as he was pulling up to tell me that he was there. I don't know how often locksmiths are that good at communication, but Jason was outstanding. Jason made small talk and got to know me as he was cutting the new key for my 2014 Chevy Malibu. The key needed a transponder and also required specialized equipment which Jason had in his truck. I don't even think he was at my house more than 15 minutes, but he felt like a lifelong friend by the time we were done. you can tell Jason is a motivated businessman. The next day when it was light outside I noticed the key chamber. I called him and asked him why he sold me a lock with a key chamber when you said that the lock only came with a keyfab, fingerprint, or the app entry. He replied that he had disassembled the key chamber and tossed the keys in the trash without my permission. I want to return the lock and get my money back. He agreed at first but later he came up with lies and excuses as to why I can't return the lock and get my money back. Now I have a lock with no keys and don't know where the keys are. I don't feel safe in my home. The lock cost $289.00 plus tax. I can't buy another lock until the money is returned. I feel like I was scammed and taken advantage of.

On my daughters reccomendation I tried The Lock Guy on one of my visits. Even he will admit it was not easy, but between him and his partner they looked through his inventory of thousands of blanks and found one that was close. This was not a mere business tranaction, he took the search for a duplicate blank personally. After about 25 minutes he found one that was close and cut it. In addition he gave it to me on the "honor system" trusting me to pay him if it worked and not pay him if it did not. I returned to Pittsburgh and tried it a few days later. While not a perfect fit, it worked! This kind of customer service is almost unheard of in this day and age. If you need a strange key cut and you live within three hours of Cleveland go to "The Lock Guy." You will not be disappointed.
