I got VM but was called back immediately. I wasn't given an appointment, I was asked when I wanted the tech o arrive. I needed to go to a funeral nearby on the weekend & wanted to go to the house after. I was very surprised to find the price for Saturday the same as the weekday. Their solution to timing the appointment was to give me the tech's cell & told to call as soon as I was ready to start for the house. Jay C. arrived less than 10 min. after I arrived. His truck was really well-equipped, ready for anything. My husband arrived about 10 min. later. Jay was extremely friendly & courteous. He was also really good, opening the house in less than 3 minutes. I also liked he wanted proof of ownership to ensure we were the legal owners, which explains the caveat given about when the tech would arrive. "He may be delayed if we get a call from the police or other emergency." This company's service is so good seems they're who the cops call when they need a locksmith. Plus they're careful about keeping things legal. They hit 5-star status when Jay, finding out we planned to change all the locks didn't try to dissuade us or to use his company. Instead he offered us excellent tips on putting new locks in old doors. We highly recommend this company for it's speed, friendliness, customer service & quality. When I called Charles Whalen, he answered his phone, listened to my request & told me some one could come out within a week. (I thought, 'yeah, right!') He called back in a couple days & said if it was convenient Alex would come over that afternoon. He advised me of the $ for a service call & $ for milage which I thought to be reasonable. Alex arrived within the scheduled time slot. He was polite & knowledgable. He told us he had a locksmith company & he has been training with Mr. Whalen for more than 3 years. He checked the clock, explained what caused part of the problem (movers laid it down on its back). He cleaned, oiled & adjusted everything. He stayed while the clock ran through a cycle, made more adjustments. He stayed until the clock ran through a complete cycle without any problems. I was impressed with his commitment to providing good service with a repair that addressed all the issues. The total cost including the repairs was more than reasonable. I have other clocks I will be sending to Mr. Whalen for cleaning & repairs. I would highly recommend them.

After awhile, noticed he installed a new cheap brass looking door knob. I asked him why and he said the old door knob was "no good" and that he couldn't repair. After finishing, he gave me an outrageous invoice for $300 For only 30 minutes of work. He said to write the check directly to him and Not the company. Very shady and dishonest cause I was quoted differently over the phone. When I asked why the high price, he said he would remove the new locks and leave. I gave him a check made out to himself, Michael Verbitsky, not the company. He said that he bought Sam's Lock & key and he was running the business now. I would Not use Sam's Locks again.
