Heard about Elson's Goldsmith from right here on Yelp and the five-star reviews are accurate! I needed to get a minor repair done on this gold chain and stopped into one other store before going to Elson's. The other shop gave me weird vibes, so I decided to give Elson's a try since everyone in the reviews had nothing but positive things to say. I emailed them in the morning and decided to call as well to check if they take walk-in repairs. The person I spoke with happened to be the owner's brother and they said yes, just come on down--so I did just that! I was welcomed in by Elson Jr., the owner's brother and person I spoke with on the phone, and he told me they could repair the chain for $50 and get it done in about 30 minutes. Good deal in my opinion! So I waited in the store and not even 15 minutes later, the chain was repaired *AND* Elson said they cleaned it! Highly, highly recommend these guys for jewelry repairs if you live near ʻAiea or even if you can drive in from elsewhere on Oʻahu. Update: Elson's has since moved! They are no longer above Times. They are now across from downtown Pearlridge (Pali Momi Street), next to California Rock N Sushi and Blue Tropix. Ample parking. It is right next to where Toys R Us used to be, and to get to the parking you will need to turn in at the light by Big City Diner. The new store is a definite upgrade to the old location! It was a little confusing for me to find as you can't see Elson's from the parking lot. You will have to walk out through a pathway to get to Pali Momi Street and walk to where the store faces the street. You will need to get buzzed in for security reasons. They have a small jewelry selection available that is ready to purchase, but it seems they do a lot of custom work. I primarily come here for repairs! I've replaced missing pave diamonds and just had a repair done today for a bracelet I had where a pear shaped diamond fell out. I unfortunately did not have the diamond, but they had a similar natural diamond on hand and were able to repair it in about 20 minutes! Repair cost was about $100 less than I was quoted to mail it back to the jewelry company that I purchased it from in the mainland. Saved money and got it back right away. Although, they did not respond to my email message, I will still rate them a "5!" Their location is next to Straub Clinic across from Pearlridge Center. Parking is at the rear shared with everyone who needs to go to the Clinic, Big City Diner and other businesses in that block. I brought my Baby G watch for a battery replacement today and I was able to pick it up less than 1/2 an hour from leaving my watch there. The cost...$15 cash without the excise tax. A family member told me about Elson's as they've used their services before. It took me a while as I really had to think about what I wanted. Finally decided to go in on a random Saturday JUST to get some information. Colin helped me and listened to me yap (and my listened to my fiancée crack jokes. smh.). I told him I wanted to update my engagement ring (didn't like the cathedral/diamond in basket look anymore). He brought out a ring similar to what I wanted done. I looked at it and I was automatically sold. Funnily enough...we (my fiancée and I) were still shopping around for a wedding band. I saw one there that I absolutely loved! It was a diamond eternity band. Just as I was gonna say "no" (because I knew I'd end up ruining that type of band)...Colin told me he could customize that ring and make it the way I wanted. My husband and I got married in February. One of the most unique things we did for our wedding was to mine for our own sapphires for our wedding bands. We flew to Montana, mined for sapphires, got them heated and cut and then they sat in a drawer for awhile. I couldn't find someone local to set the stones we had. Then randomly scrolling through yelp one day, I found Elson's. And I'm so glad I did. We went in to see if they could set our sapphires, which would require a custom setting. I wasn't optimistic... I had spent hours and hours looking for a company to do this that I'd given up hope. I was willing to fly to a different state to get this done too, so I was so relieved and surprised that the workers at Elson's were so accommodating and chill. We walked in, talked for like 3 mins and we were out! They were like of course we can set these stones and make a "his and hers" and it'll only take a couple weeks. I was like where the heck were you guys when I was spending hours on the internet looking up places on the continent to do this? We came back a few weeks later, way before the wedding because I thought this process would take longer. Nope! So quick! We tried on the rings and they were perfect. I have been going to Elson's since 2019 for all of my repairs. I like to buy vintage jewelry from pawn shops and ebay, and recently i came across a piece i had to grab. The listing looked great, but when i received the pendant it was actually in terrible shape. Of course, first place i thought to bring it was elsons. So of course they fixed it. And it was also very quick service. And when i tell you this pendant was in bad shape, i mean bad shape. The main setting was loose and i actually thought the person i bought it from tried to use super glue or something to hold it together, the prongs for the gems needed resetting, and one of the gems was completely detached. I'm so glad I found Elson's!! Fast service, genuinely GOOD people and you can trust them with your jewelry. Met Elson Jr, his brother and brother in law that own and run the shop. They just moved a month ago to a new spot, which is big, bright and clean. I had a pave diamond fall out of my engagement ring and I didn't want to leave it with just anyone, but read all their reviews and couldn't find anything remotely bad. Decided to give it a chance as I read they can repair in one day, let alone one hour or less if they have the right stone. I loved that! I didn't want to be without my ring! Anyway, they said it should be done in about hour half and then I got a call about 40 mins later that it was ready and they were just polishing it up! Went back and they made sure the rest of the diamonds weren't loose. Had them check my wedding band too. All in all, super fast, reasonably priced and they're nice guys. Came here based on a recommendation from an old coworker. It's upstairs from times pearl city. There was no visible signage from the parking lot but if you're facing times, it's on the second floor furthest to the right. The business was locked but there's a doorbell outside and the employee answered it right away. I came to get my necklace chains fixed. I had a yellow gold daintier skinny chain, white gold box chain, and a silver box chain. I have no idea about repair prices and I've been meaning to get these replaced for forever so decided to just do it there. They quoted me $70 to replace my white gold lobster clasp, $15 to repair a break in the chain of my silver chain, and they repaired my yellow gold chain for free! I opted to not repair my silver chain and just did the white gold. I have no idea if $70 was fair for the white gold repair but I felt it was (bc girl math lol) and the gold chain repair was free. I come here to get jewelry repaired or resized. This is a multi generational shop that takes pride in their work. They are not pushy for a sale. They have a limited amount of pieces for purchase, but are able to order or have custom pieces made. The small shop is located on the second floor above Times Waimalu. I look for the open sign before walking up the stairs located on the right. An employee will let you in after you ring the doorbell. I am always enthralled with the detailed work done by Calin or Tony. These guys are also quick. Ring sizing and repairs such as replacing a broken clasp generally takes about an hour. I usually take the claim check and will grab lunch or browse in Times downstairs or across the street at City Mill. They call you when to return. Lots of free parking here! I was once told that they do a lot of the repairs & adjustments for the larger shops on the island. This shop does excellent work for a fair price. If you need quick repairs, stop by Elson's. Then they took my center stone out of my engagement ring and reset it into a new setting.
