Sadly Ted Gonzales and his staff at Pacific Diamond have lost the Aloha Spirt. Sure they are very welcoming when you're purchasing their gooda. Ted will tell you amusing story's age keep you entertained. They will say if your not happy at later date bring it back for full credit on another purchase. Which is true they will give you full credit. Unfortunately when picking something out and asking the price is oh darn thing isn't priced left me go calculate that for you. Every notice very little of there show case items require calculation. I pick out a used watch that retails in the $800 range only to be told they certainly would apply my $1600. to the price. After a calculation this used watch would require my 1600 credit plus $500. bring the price of a 800ish used watch to a whopping $2100. When I balked and ask what the "little less than full credit" amount would be they went away to calculate coming back with a $385 offer. So much for a little less! A 7 gram 14k gold ring I paid 1600 for now worth a fraction of Current scrap price which was $568. Damn those calculations. When I balked again I was sent on my way with a hardy Have a nice day Shouted at-me as I walked out. Then something I hadn't notice and very illegal was the ring had no marking.no Karate stamp no hallmark nothing. Trying to sell it was difficult. So I appealed to Ted himself. He agreed no markings is illegalwe styled on a buy back price of $450 and was told his staff thought I was weird and had ask I shop elsewhere. What is weird is the calculations rather than marked pricing gold rings without marking. That's weird. Ted and team have zero Aloha spirt. Things like treating people fairly just being polite and complimentar. Ted change your practices or change products. Say Used cars, you and staff would do well! read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. TERRIBLE SERVICE, OVERPRICED AND OVERRATED. I just wanted to get ring resized and had the worst experience ever. Maybe because I wasn't spending enough for them to care enough this time because my family has used them before and never had an issue when we were spending a lot more. When I asked the sales person how the sizing bands should feel, because they weren't the exact same shape as my ring, all she did was toss me another set but in plastic instead of metal. I tried getting a better answer but she basically told me to go with the one that just felt right. She didn't attempt to put any on and see how they fit or give me and alternate ring to possibly see how it would be, nothing. On top of that, they said the size I need was such big jump, it warranted a cost of over $400. At the time I didn't know where else to go and proceeded to use their services. When I got my ring back it was way too small and couldn't even get over my knuckle. When I asked about fixing it, the same lady I had before told me the good thing was that it wouldn't cost as much as the first time since it would only be a small adjustment. Excuse me. If my size jump was so much, the amount of platinum the kept from the original should've paid for the new resizing. Of course I did NOT use their services again (and never will) and am so glad another friend of mine reminded me of another place I could go to. When I went there they told me that they would never have charged the price they did and said the size jump wasn't that serious. They also said that if the ring didn't fit, they would fix it at no additional cost and was quoted a little over $100. Of course I now used ELSON'S GOLDSMITH for jewelry repairs, cleaning, purchases, etc. They are not as big as PD but still have a good amount of selections and services. They used to be right across the street from this PD and I wish I had seen them before, but lesson learned. They are in a new location across Pearlridge that I have yet to visit but assume they now have a bigger space and more selections to choose from. I will never return to this PD or any of their stores and tell everyone one I know not to use them unless they absolutely cannot find what they want elsewhere. read more

Don't ever take your watch for repair to Pacific Diamond. They butchered the back of my Movado when they checked the battery. It is not an expensive watch but has a lot of sentimental value. I will NEVER go to that store ever again.. They supposedly send their watches out for repair to someone on the island. He should work in a meat department as a butcher. No one has ever damaged the back of this watch like this for the over 30 years that I have owned it. I thought that I could "trust" this establishment as they have been around for quite a long time here on the island. Don't let that fool you....HORRIBLE BUSINESS!!!! With apprehension, my daughter & I went to Pacific Diamond to sell a mishmash of what we thought were gold pieces. We were cordially welcomed, and Kaila Shimabukuro was our contact. With her friendly demeanor, we started feeling at ease. She professionally explained what she was doing & while we were dreading the news that we had mostly junk, we were comfortable. She separated the good from the not-too-good stash & never made us feel inadequate; the fake gold could be given to charity or whatever we decided. As she did her analysis, she was encouraging. At some point, her boss, Mr. Ted Gonzales, the owner, came by to say hello. He did not portray himself as a "boss" but instead as a warm, caring individual. At the end of the review, Kaila expressed that we would probably be pleased with the outcome. We were surprised, pleased and happy at the amount of $ we were to receive (it could be a check or cash or even be divided as check and cash, however we wished). This is my honest opinion. The business is clean and there's lots of nice jewelry in there. I went in there because I was in the area, I brought my watch there for repair and the lady who took it was friendly. She quoted me a price and said they could do it. I usually take my watches to a shop near Ala Moana but I gave Pacific Diamond a chance. I was very disappointed because they took a month and a half to repair my watch. I called them and they gave me a lame excuse that they had many watches to repair before mine. If they had so many to do why were they so greedy for work that it makes the customer dissatisfied. When it was finally done a week later I went to pick it up and I didn't even get an apology or a little discount. I found out the real reason why they were late with my watch, I found that they moved a few spaces down and they were most likely caught up with setting up and cleaning of their new store, and not like they said that they had many watches before mine. What a joke of a jewelry store. My advice to anyone who needs a watch repair or any jewelry is to shop around, there are way better stores than Pacific Diamond. This should be the store you go to if you are desperate and have no other choice. By the way, if you need watch repair check out "Honolulu Time" it's way better. Just being honest. read more

The business is good and have quality items at comparable prices with higher end businesses. The only negative feedback that I have that can be easily fixed is their customer service. They lack the ability to prioritize and neglect interested customers. I have noticed and from my experiences that they meaning all service members do not make attempts to provide services unless you make an attempt to get their attention. Some customers including myself have waited nearly 30 minutes before deciding to leave or attempt to get a members attention. Great customer service means following best practices like valuing customers' time, having a pleasant attitude, and providing knowledgeable and resourceful resources, but that you also take things a step further to exceed -- rather than just meet -- expectations. read more

A security guard let me in which made me feel safe and unsafe at the same time. All the clerks were busy so I waited until someone was free. When she asked what I wanted I said I wanted to sell some pieces. I was taken to a desk, where I asked what they pay, and mentioned the days going rate for 14k gold. At that point the lady got rather curt with me, 'Well, your not going to get that unless you sell it your self!' Yes, I know but I was wondering what your rate is. She examined my pieces and put them on a scale without showing me the weight. All the while going on about how I wasn't going to get what I wanted. Then she spit a price out at me that was extremely low. I found her extremely rude and left in tears. I knew I wasn't going to get the market price but she could have been a whole lot kinder about it. So even though I saw some nice pieces in there I would not buy from them. "20min tops super fast" Took about 5 min to get there. Gave them my watch. Didn't bat their eye while looking at it. Worker took about 15 min to "try and pry it open". I had a diamond reset here and cost $500 for the new simple white gold mount/ring and a $200 diamond setting fee. They said it would be 2 weeks. It was pretty bad when I got the ring back and took a closer look. Some prongs were not even touching the diamond and the diamond was crooked. I brought it back and was told I would have to pay for a new mount for $200. I don't think I should have been liable for their mess up. I ended up paying because I really wanted to finish what was started. Also did not receive the old ring the diamond was taken from... They just kept it. I need to leave more Yelp love after my most recent visits! I've been cleaning out my jewelry boxes and fixing those pieces of jewelry that I've always said that I would fix "someday." I had two watches with batteries that have been dead for years. I brought them by the shop, expecting that I would have to drop them off and return for them days later. To my surprise, they fixed both watches on the spot for less than I got quoted at other local watch battery places, like the Sears at Pearlridge. I brought in a chain that needed to be fixed since the links were separated. She explained exactly what would need to be repaired, how they would repair it, and provided an estimated pricing. I also had a ring that had the 10K stamp removed when I got it resized years ago. The shop tested the metal for me to verify that it was 10K and also tested the diamonds. They thoroughly cleaned the ring and told me that they would call in a few days when the stamp was done. When I returned to pick up the ring, the manager wouldn't even charge me for it since she said it was a simple stamping and I'm a regular! Additionally I was able to sell some jewelry that I never wear anymore for a very fair price. They weigh every piece in front of you and explain the valuation. Shister alert! Initially helpful to help go through my mothers "costume" jewelry after her death. Now, I think they do that to see if anything of value to offer and resale. I had them repair a couple of things and found a gold and diamond watch. They said they could get a quote to fix and or melt. The diamonds were not worth anything due to poor quality they said. I agreed and they took weeks and forgot to get back to me and I had to ask for pricing. I agreed to a price for melting since too expensive to repair. Agreed and then asked if I could have the diamonds if they weren't going to use them. This is when the deal and the owner began to unravel! I found out from staff that the deal included the diamonds after all and then since questioned, the owner said never mind he didn't like my questions, did't want to deal with me, took back the deal and said I was difficult to work with and hung up on me. I went into the Waimalu location with a group of friends today to purchase Pandora charms. Laurie and Danielle were warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped into the door. Laurie had helped us on several occasions and each time I'm amazed at how she treats each and every customer as a valued guest and family member. I brought in an old yellow gold diamond bracelet to see what I could get for it in money or trade. Laurie Tamai helped me to see the possibilities and I couldn't be more grateful. Laurie suggested I use the diamonds in my bracelet to create a diamond station necklace sometimes commonly known as Diamonds by the Yard. I was able to use all the diamonds in the necklace and traded the bracelet plus some other scrap gold I had to put towards the total cost. I am so happy to now have a new piece of modern classic jewelry that I can wear and enjoy.
