Decent beer and food. Complete disregard for COVID regulations. According to my newsletter they've closed and reopened at least 3 times due to staff and/or customer positive results. When I get pickup, people are dining and drinking indoors, which means they're maskless, which should not be a huge surprise why they're constantly closing. If you can't bother with the safety of your staff and customers, I can't bother with you. read more

I find it really annoying when I find great breweries outside the city because a) it's hard for this city person to get to and b) it means someone has to drive and stop enjoying their beer early. But these are personal problems. And it won't stop me from begging my friends with cars to come back here! This place opens up at 4pm on weeknights and my friends and I arrived at 4:01pm on a Monday (we finish work at 3:45). We were obviously seated immediately and had the restaurant to ourselves until we left an hour later. Beer menu has a ton of great sounding options but unfortunately they were out of like half the menu when we were there. Frustrating but not a deal breaker because what was still available was delicious. I ended up getting a flight of 4 beers for $10. I personally loved the Beer Riot which was a pre-Prohibition lager. I'd never tried that kind of beer before. One little touch I appreciated was the presentation of the flight. They took advantage of the towns name and had the flights served on a Elm shapes board. So cute! For food my friends and I split a basket of cheese curds which were incredible and devoured quickly. Perfectly fried and cheesy with two great dipping sauce options: a grainy mustard and like something that was like ranch but wasn't ranch. Delicious. I ended up ordering the Sumac Buffalo Chicken sandwich. This was interesting. I love buffalo chicken and order it whenever I see it on the menu. So when I say this was different but good, I'm speaking the truth. It was like a sweeter buffalo sauce. And the pickled celery was a nice touch. I normally hate celery but this complemented the buffalo chicken nicely. Overall I was highly impressed by this brewery. I would've probably rated it higher if I had been able to try the beers that weren't available (they were all ones that intrigued me most from the online menu). read more

Out of several things on both the drink and food menu. Don't understand running out of Bloody Mary mix at 1:00 on a Sunday. It was not crowded. Ordered fried cheese curds and said they were just making the batter??? We never received. The table was sticky. Would only give one star but giving two as we had a larger party and we weren't rushed to leave. Something is definitely off at this place. Almost had the vibe of a place going out of business. read more

Very friendly place with excellent craft beer. Elmhurst Brewing has become my go to place.

Well worth the wait! I enjoy the friendly and beer-smart staff. Great food, interesting and creative flavors (pickle fries are a must), huge menu that pairs well with an impressive selection of tasty brews: easy drinking, complex, malty, bright, hoppy, balanced, toasty. They've got it all. I've visited a number of times since the open. I've met a lot of Elmhurst residents but also many from all over the Chicagoland area, and a few out of staters. People are curious and appear to keep coming back. They've got a good formula that focuses on quality product and a good deal of attentiveness. I sensed a pride in ownership and a pride among staff. They want us patrons to be happy, comfortable and they want us to feel special. Imagine that. Continued success EBC Team. read more

I booked a reservation through Google at Elmhurst brewing Company for myself and five others. The booking experience was very smooth and convenient. When we arrived, there was no one in the restaurant except for a few people at the bar, and a few people outside. Right off the bat, it took the server a very long time to come and take our drink order. The tabletop felt like a college bar floor feels around 2 AM, so sticky that you can't even pick up the menu without peeling it off the table. After we ordered drinks, it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks which included just a few beers and waters. Once the server came back to take our appetizer order, she informed us that at least 8 items off of the menu were out of stock. We placed our appetizer order at that time. About 40 minutes later, the first of two appetizers came out. We ordered pickle fries and they were supposed to come with two different kinds of sauces, which included green Goddess dipping sauce and barbecue sauce. The pickle fries came out with plain ketchup. Not a good combo at all. Then, about 15-20 minutes later, our cheese curds came out with no sauce at all. We had to request the ranch that it was supposed to come with. Then, the server finally came back to take our food orders. We placed our orders without incident. Once our food came out probably about 25 minutes later, despite having ordered french fries, all of us received tater tots with our meals. When we told the person bringing our food out that we had all ordered french fries, he said "well, you are getting tots." we said, what is going on with this place being out of literally everything, he said "it's been a busy weekend." and walked away. We thought this was extremely rude and could not believe that another item off of the menu, such as french fries was out. We proceeded to eat our mediocre meals and then did not see our server for a very long time after we had finished our meal and run out of drinks/water. We had to request for one of the bus people to get our server for us to get the check, despite there being not another single person in the entire restaurant at the time. When we asked for our bill, we requested to speak to a manager. The manager came out and seemed completely uninterested in our concerns about our experience. The only positive thing about this experience was that they did not charge us for any of the appetizers. We could not get out of there fast enough. If you are looking for a more positive dining experience and a menu that actually has things available to order, do not visit this restaurant! I will say, the beer was good, but that's about it. Fitz's Pub across the street had much more prompt service and menu items available! We got our beer and dessert within three minutes of ordering it at Fitz's! Terrible experience at EBC and it is safe to say, none of us will ever be returning. read more

The head chef at this restaurant is a joke. I came here at the end of August and then not again till last month. I forgot until the 2nd time why it was so long until returning. In September I asked to have the spicy fried chicken sandwich with the only moderation to get the sauce on the side due to having a sensitive stomach but still enjoying a little spice in small moderation. The server said they had to "ask the chef, but since they toss it after frying that shouldn't be a problem". They came back visibly upset saying the chef refused to keep it on the side and they were really sorry. I was a server for years and could tell this was not the first time this "chef" acted like an arrogant jerk by the server's reaction. Then my boyfriend wanted to experience the St. Patrick's day menu, so we went back. Again, I have a sensitive stomach, which includes dairy. I tried to order the Rueben but with no sauce, and was once again told the "chef"refuses to make ANY modifications. Literally not even saving resources by not including the sauce at all. This was a different server but one who was equally frustrated and annoyed they couldn't offer this basic request. So many people in this town can't understand how the food could be so average with such a great location, space, and wait staff. Breweries like MORE, Alter, and others knock their food out of the water while being incredibly more accommodating and respectful of their diners BASIC dietary restrictions. If you want decent food, do not go here. read more

Great service and beer menu. We shared 2 appetizers, the curds and pickle fries. Would never get these again-both were bland tasting and extremely greasy. My bf and I did flights and enjoyed the beer, favorite was The Schwartz black lager. Clean business, excellent service and good beer. Will return for all that just not the appetizers. read more

Cool craft brewery/restaurant, not far off I-290. I've enjoyed all the beers I've ordered-Lost City, Julius Squeezer, Westy and Lil Squeezer. I also got growlers of the oktoberfest and the hefeweizen. They let you fill up growlers not from here which is cool. $20 is a little more than I usually see for growler fills, but oh well, everything else is reasonable. I haven't gotten a full entree, but I've split orders of pickle fries and cheese curds. I admit they both look different than other places where I've ordered those, but they're still good. The sauces you get with them are good as well. I liked the location, indoor and outdoor seating, with an upstairs if needed. Plenty of TVs for watching sports games, and the service both times was real nice, my servers were always friendly. read more

Service was great as usual. So was the beer, but we are disappointed with the newer (and smaller) menu. Their pork fried rice used to be a phenomenal dish... it's been replaced by a bland version of fried rice with optional chicken for $20. The new fried rice is not bad, but it's no where near the level of the pork fired riced. The new chef made some other changes that are not so great as well like removing the poutine. read more

Came on a sunday afternoon: -Pros: not very busy, didn't take long to get a seat on the patio -Patio is spacious and comfortable Cons: -Never received service on the patio, at all... one of us eventually had to order a flight of samples at the bar and brought them to our table. Literally was never approached by or even saw single server for over 25min. After one of us ordered inside and brought the flight back to our table on the patio we overheard a server finally approach the table beside us (who also sat 25 min without service) explain that he was waiting on two tables to close and the new server would be around shortly... as if shift change is an acceptable reason to leave tables without service for almost a half hour -We wanted to order food but we left as there was no one to even take our order - Beer selection is short and unimpressive.. -Could've had a similar experience on our patio at home with better beer -Many other local breweries with better service and beer, don't waste the trip here. read more

Some people collect t-shirts when travelling. I collect breweries. I had an hour before a rehearsal dinner just down the block, so a cold craft beer was on the agenda. I'm an IPA fan so I ordered a hazy "Julius Squeezer" IPA and it was delicious. Although I only stopped in for a beer, their their food looks to be as good as their beer. read more

Beers are delicious, space is cool and airy. We had beer flights followed by beers and more beers. I could have kept going but hey, tonight is a school night. The cheese curds and pot roast tater tots were delicious as were the burgers and fish and chips. Both of our kids were super duper happy with their food too. They also have a kids space hidden away in the back so the space is still cool but the kids can get up and move without annoying other customers. We could have honestly hung out the whole afternoon there but there was a line of folks so we kept on moving. Love this place, an awesome addition to Elmhurst! Oh, and looking forward to the beer garden in the summer! read more

I can't say enough about Elmhurst Brewing! We booked our son's first birthday party there before even trying it. We did a test run a couple weeks ago, sat downstairs. Got burger fries, chicken sand which and beer. All were excellent. I stuck with the schwarzbier which is tough to find on tap and it was great. The little one enjoyed the kids area too! So onto the party: I had never thrown a whole party before so I wasn't sure what to expect and they made the process so easy. From planning to day off, management and the entire waitstaff was extremely attentive and helpful. Our guests were very pleased with the service. We had flatbreads, fries, and cheesecurds and all were great. All the guests enjoyed the beer as well. The NEIPA was a step up from the last time we were in and I really enjoyed the fools gold. I will definitely be back and have more parties in the future! read more

SHORT SUMMARY Business disappoints a customer. Customer expresses disappointment. Business says, expression of disappointment proves Customer is wrong. Business does not resolve or even address the root cause of the issue. Customer never returns. Business continues as is and the cycle repeats. FULL REVIEW I drove 15 miles to try this microbrewery because I saw a dark beer on their list and I am a dark beer super fan. When I arrived it was indeed on their list but when I ordered it, the server said it was "not available until tomorrow". I ordered water while I waited for my friend to arrive. He arrived a few minutes later and he too attempted to order the same dark beer and was told it wouldn't be available until tomorrow. We pointed out that their website and menu showed the dark beer as available and expressed our disappointment and ordered two not-so-good substitute beers. To be fair, they may have been at least OK beers, but they were significantly soured when we saw several dark beers delivered to the table next to us. We asked our server what was up and she said they were beer club members and get early access to new brews. Fine, we thought, but how about noting that on the website and menu so we peasants don't have to watch the elites next to us enjoy what we drove out of our way to get but just can't have. I explained how this was frustrating and asked to speak with a manager. Both the server and the manager were polite but horribly trained. A well-trained staff would have noted that this was our first visit and noticed how disappointed we were and made an exception to serve us the beer we were baited in with and drove so far to try. As it goes, we finished drinking our disappointment and left. We will not be back but might otherwise have been big fans and returned with more friends. So sad. When I am treated well, I say so. But when I am treated like my business doesn't matter, I say so too. Most fast-food joints have better customer awareness. Good luck staying in business. There are many options in the area for microbrews and no matter how special you think your beer is, you can't treat new visitors like you did us and expect them to return or recommend you. Side note: You might want to have a few popular bottled beers for those who don't share a taste for your highly limited selection. In any group of several people, not everyone might want the few beers you offer and if just one member of a group feels left out, you will likely preclude the entire group from future visits. Just my two cents as one who has provided service quality training for years. Again your staff was pleasant and polite, but you clearly have policy and training issues that are a detriment to customer satisfaction and retention. It costs 100 times more to obtain a customer than keep one. And, getting one back is nearly impossible after you alienate them. UPDATED NOTES - AFTER THE BUSINESS MANAGER'S REPLY To be clear, I prefaced that my next comment was not aimed at the manager and then told the manager that their treatment of customers is the sort of thing that can make a customer feel like an establishment is saying FU to the customer. I am sorry the manager misunderstood even with my purposeful preface and even further disappointed that the Business Manager's reply to a disappointed customer is basically, "We know we disappointed you and the expression of your disappointment proves we were right." This thinking is so backward that it astounds me. It is further proof that this place has a serious problem with understanding customer issues and treating customers well. The real end of the story will be this business failing to retain customers. I've seen this many times. Still, they have made zero effort to understand what actually happened from the customer's point of view and straight-up defend their side of the story which was bad customer service. Their failure to address the policy and training issues at the root of this service failure will continue to create more unhappy customers and yes, some of them might actually say FU to this business and sadly to its undeserving staff members who again were polite but poorly prepared to address this service quality issue. I personally have not and am not saying FU to any member of the staff or even this establishment in general, I am just saying no thank you to further disappointment while I am advising that others might not be so polite. read more

To the staff at the Elmhurst Brewery, Our family would like to thank you for hosting our son and new daughter-in-law's wedding rehearsal cocktail party this past weekend. It was incredible! The kitchen staff created a variety of delicious offerings that pleased our young ring-bearers and flower girls all the way through the wedding party to the parents, grandparents, and friends. Your chicken wings are fantastic. We saw kitchen staff ascending the stairs several times to check our food choices. Outstanding! Ashley, our bartender, never stopped hustling making sure our guests' drinks were ready when they were. She was friendly and relaxed throughout the event. We heard great praise for her beer knowledge and willingness to let folks unfamiliar with the brewery taste a couple before making their choice. Before we finish, we want to thank Nina Laperna for introducing us to your brewery and restaurant. On our first visit many months ago she was our waitress when we stopped in to check out your setting. She answered every question and recommended several food choices for us to order that day to think about for the rehearsal cocktail party. She continued through email after email answering our questions. She knew how much food to order for our group of friends and family, and she was right. Thank you, friends! You have a place in our hearts and you have added some great memories as part of our children's celebration. Rev. John and Sara Holst read more

This brewery hosted a run from the Illinois Brewery Running Series. I'm not an expert by any means, but I've had my share of craft beer. The Octoberfest was as good an experience with that type of beer as I've ever had. I was lucky enough to be seated near one of the actual brewers, who said it was his beer and was his favorite style. He did it right. I also had a pale ale and an IPA, which were good too. As far as COVID, the staff was fully masked, as were most of the customers. Outside seating was much more crowded than inside. I'm careful with the virus, and felt fully comfortable inside. But this was early afternoon. Likely much more crowded at night. read more

I went to Elmhurst Brewing's Mayfest yesterday and it was fabulous! I was a little nervous about the price vs. the amount of time allotted, but I actually think everything was just PERFECT for a few reasons and would easily pay their asking price again. Ticket was $50 for 1 1/2 hours of sampling, which is what most beer sampling festivals ask for 3+ hours, so I was a little nervous about getting bang for my buck. But at this point, I also felt like the $50 was worth just getting out of the house no matter what happened with the fest. Upon arriving I found that EBC did two things majorly right: they 1) only let in 50 people max for each time slot and 2) had just the right number of brewers there that you could easily sample their beers without feeling overwhelmed or waiting in long lines. With the reduced number of people, you got to spend a lot of time talking to the brewers/reps from each location and it was easily the most intimate beer festival I've ever been to. Staff was friendly, lots of sours (my fave!) being poured, and the space was a great size for the event. Plus, at 1 1/2 hours no one left super sloppy so there wasn't so much of that drunken free for all that happens at some of the larger fests. I honestly don't know how any beer festival I attend in the future is going to top this! Thank you Elmhurst Brewing for putting on a great event this weekend! I hope to see more in the future! read more

I really wanted to love this place as it's a nice addition to the Elmhurst area. Stopped in here with a party of 4 and sat at one of the high tops by the bar. The inside is well decorated and make you feel like you're at a downtown brew hall. I couldn't complain about the decor one bit. As it's cold, we weren't able to experience the outside, but I hear it nice. It's always nice to be able to sit outside during the warmer months. The service seemed very slow in my opinion. Maybe it was an off night, but I had to ask someone if we actually had a waitress after sitting at the table for a few minutes. The place was busy, so I understand that, but a quick stop by the table always helps. After asking the employee about a waitress, there did seem to be some confusion as to whose table it actually was. The table had a variety of beers, and we all tried each other's to find ones we would like for a second round. Nothing wrong with the beers at all, but nothing left me wowed. As other reviewers have mentioned, the ambiance can get pretty loud. There aren't any room dividers to really muffle the sound, so you do find yourself talking louder than normal to hear the people you are sitting with. Especially if it's a busy night. The food was what really didn't please us in our opinion. Seemed very substandard for the place that we were sitting in. The BBQ chicken flatbread seemed like frozen dough. Very rubbery and tasteless. The chicken wings were alright. Would have loved some ranch but we were told they only serve green goddess dressing. We tried a couple variations and nothing really left us ecstatic. The fried pickles were basically fried pickles. Having had it at many other places due to its recent popularity, there was nothing imaginative about the order. I'd stop back in to give them another try. Maybe a bad night at hand, but I wouldn't rush back. Nice ambiance to grab a beer with friends and not feel like you are sitting at a bar. read more

I've been here twice and I hate to say both visits were pretty disappointing. This morning we went to brunch and the service and the food were both just not great. We got the pork belly hash and the eggs were over cooked by a lot. Then they charged us extra for the egg! I was just trying to be polite about the first two eggs that were trash, but our waitress wasn't paying enough attention to care.
