Cool ambience in this brewery type restaurant. Neither of us had any beer that day, maybe next time. I was surprised to learn that they had a gluten-free bun for me to have with their grilled chicken sandwich. The bun did not fall apart like a typical gluten-free bread sometimes does. The sandwich also had avocado and bacon on it. The coleslaw was very good. The waitress was great. Good service and happy to help me with my gluten-free options. My husband had the spinach strawberry salad, which he really enjoyed. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a pretty good crowd there. The noise level was not bad at all. I've been to the dg location and knew a bit what to expect but we were really blown away in a good way. Decided on visiting with the whole family for brunch with a party of 10 on a Sunday. I have to say everything absolutely exceeded our expectations. All apps we had were better than average and everyone in our party were beyond satisfied with their drinks. Espresso martini was fav favorite and one of the best I've ever had. The service was very active clearing plates, filling refills and ultra attentive to our needs. I absolutely love this place! The vibe of this brewery is so cool, is one of those places that makes you want to stay and hang there and chill, the decor and paintings in the wall are just perfect! Now even better is the service, our server Hugo was two nights in a row the best, also the kitchen manager, we repeated the same restaurant while on a business trip just because of how nice, friendly and helpful they both were. We came tonite with our sales group and they all loved it, the food was fresh, flavorful and delicious and the beers are also a whole experience, you can find really unique beers and very fun flavors (like Milkshake Beer or the cucumber/lime one with tajin soooo good!). For $11 there are options like Mac n cheese (a reallll cheesy, extra goopy Mac n cheese!), chicken fingers, grilled cheese, marinara pasta and a few more. Okay, let's kick things off with a high note, those grilled shrimp tacos absolutely phenomenal. The sauce was genuinely incredible super flavorful and really made the dish sing. Seriously, top notch would only come back for this dish. We also decided to try the giant pretzel. It was definitely impressive in size and tasted good, but at $25.99, it felt a bit on the pricey side for what it was. Maybe a slightly friendlier price point would make it an even more appealing appetizer. Now for something that didn't quite meet expectations, the Cajun chicken Alfredo. I was really looking forward to a classic, creamy Alfredo, but what arrived was a much thinner, runnier sauce that didn't quite hit that mark for me. While it did pack a nice spicy punch, I was hoping for more of the traditional Alfredo texture, and I also noticed there wasn't a whole lot of chicken in it. The patty melt was perfectly fine, a solid choice if you're looking for something straightforward, but it didn't really stand out as anything special, especially for the $20 price tag. One bit of a snag we hit was the parking situation, especially since we visited on a Saturday evening. It was a real hassle finding a spot and we ended up having to walk quite a distance from the Wild Berry lot which wasn't the most ideal start to our dinner and speaking of our experience, the service felt a little rushed and, unfortunately, came across as a bit unfriendly. It just dampened the overall vibe of the evening a little. On a brighter note the place itself is actually really cool.The ambiance is fantastic making it a great spot to hang out and the bar area looked perfect for catching some sports. I went for the brisket mac and cheese (amazing BTW, especially for a cold winter day). Somehow they just knew I like my brisket fatty. We came in during shift change so we had two different servers and a trainee. All of them did great. There's a giant TV over the bar for anyone invested in sportsball, but even if you're not, the food and atmosphere more than earns your attention. Seems to be a Yelp Elite tradition to rate this place 4 stars, but everything was perfect for our group so I'm going to dissent with a 5 star rating. read more

It is a brewing company so it appears that beverage menu may be extensive although we didn't partake. Our server was Hannah who provided a light hearted banter along with an exceptional customer experience. Parking lot is shared by multiple buildings so it could be hard depending on the time and day. For an early cold Monday lunch, there was no issues for me to find parking. Inside, the place is place is modern looking and very clean. They have a pretty big menu with a lot of different selections. For my lunch, we had the Little A** pretzel which serves 2+ people, instead of their big a** with serves 4. It still came with two different types of cheese (Merkts and a cheese sauce). As well as two mustards. All of them were delicious... however, the Merkts was a little difficult to eat with. My main course was the Truffalo Chicken sandwich. I was expecting this to be deep fried but it was just crispy". Overall, the sauce was a little lacking and I barely tasted it. The fries were battered and they were decent. Service was top notch and amazing. Our server was on top of everything. Overall, I am a fan of this location. They have a membership program which makes sense if you lived near one of these locations... but we do live a little far. I would be back in the future however. read more

A relatively new location. This location is quite big and has bar, indoor and outdoor seating. When we arrived it was pretty empty, but we were seated at a table sort out of the way. I ordered the corned beef sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The corned beef was well cooked and lean. My husband had the buffalo garlic shrimp. The portion included 7 plump shrimp for $17. Came by for dinner with some friends after an event nearby and decided to try a few different things. We were greeted and seated immediately, and were brought out water. As we looked through the menu we decided to share a few apps. I ended up wanting to try the Brie flatbread and the wings. For the wings I got a bbq sauce on it, it was good and had a kick to it. The flatbread was a bit of a let down for me because it felt rather soggy and needed a crunch to help out the Brie on top. Overall we had great service and would come back when in the area. A cool brewpub with their own beer selection and great burgers. We ordered the Jalapeño Cheese Curds as an appetizer that had a nice heat to them. For the main course, I had The Big Mic with Beer Fries. It tasted like a more gourmet Big Mac. The beer fries were just breaded fries, so think a crispier fry. I tried their Hopular Kid and would recommend it to anyone who isn't a big fan of IPAs but wanted to try something different. The interior was a bit more upscale than you would think. I was here with a group of women for an event. The server we were given was super nice. She made sure we got everything we needed. When our food was brought out, it was well organized chaos as each of us had ordered different things previously . I was able to order beer to go from her directly, as I went to the counter to find out about what beer on tap is sold outside the brewery.. Regardless, we tasted some amazing beer. I ended up buying a four pack of Rally point a delicious beer for a good cause.. And also a 4-pack of Dark. The delicious Dark Lager available on draft and NoT distributed outside the brewery. I did get the burger the BIG Mick. And I agree with other people that their burgers are dry... this is a double patty, burger and luckily, there was sauce and cheese on it, but I removed the piece of bread in between and didn't bother to eat it. All I'm saying is ask if there's a charge for extra sauce when you order this burger... then maybe I would've kept the extra piece of bread in between the burgers. Overall, a really nice experience and a great brewery. I wish we could've met the Brewer, as a person giving us a presentation on alter Brewing, mentioned that they had someone from Lagunitas as their head brewer. read more

Overall, I enjoyed my dinner at Alter. I loved the fact that there was ample variety of beer. I like light beers, such as pale and lager. My husband like dark beer such as stouts and porters. We were both able to try a few sample before committing to our beer of choice. For food, we got the chicken wings. They were fried hard which I appreciated. My hubby liked the wings, I thought they were just okay. I thought the sauce on the side was good and fresh vegetables were crisp. For our main meal, we got the Chicago Cheesesteak and High Five Cheese Patty Melt. No complaints on our entrees. Our server was so good. Tiara W was so friendly and she knew the menu. She was busy too, yet her tables were well looked after. The restaurant was spacious, clean and decorated modern. All in all, I would come back to this establishment if in the area. The cauliflower was a mix of good of crispy and a little soft. The burger of the month was a turkey dinner in burger form. It was a turkey patty with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. I would absolutely get this again. The fries were okay. Your typical fries. I did try some of my friend's chips and it was a bit salty. Overall, the food was decent. However, we'd suggest skipping the cucumber shrimp--ours was dry, lacked flavor, and seemed to be missing some ingredients. Despite passing at least eight available four-top tables with clear views of the game, we were seated at an awkward three-top in the back of the restaurant, against a cold window, with no view of the TVs. We politely asked the hostess if we could move to one of the open four-top tables with a game view and were told no without explanation. We then went to the host stand to ask again and received the same response from another employee and management. The explanation given was that those four-top tables were being held for parties of four, as the restaurant does not seat parties of three at four-tops. We waited approximately 15 minutes to see if those parties arrived, but none did. We asked again and were still denied. The experience gave the impression that the establishment prioritizes maximizing potential table size over actual customer service. While I understand the challenges small businesses face, it's important not to overlook the value of guests who are already in the restaurant and ready to order. In this case, a paying customer was lost while waiting for a larger party that never arrived. read more

Visited Alter Oak Brook for a work group outing! There was a total of 8 of us which the restaurant could easily accommodate inside or outside based on our preference. Unlike the Downers Grove location, Oak Brook has all the beers on tap in addition to cocktails and food. Our group got a mixture of all. I personally tried the golden fiddle and thyme paloma; both were light, refreshing, and delicious! Most people who got beers really enjoyed the variety and flavors offered. We got the roasted corn dip to start and many of us got salads, sandwiches or a flatbread for our mains. I loved that they had vegan options as I am dairy sensitive. It's not often a restaurant will offer vegan options on the main menu rather than a substitute listed. Everyone raved about the food and said they loved their experience! The last thing that impressed me was in talking to our waitress understanding their staff training process. They make all staff undergo detailed training and quizzes on food and drink offerings so that all are knowledgable to make recommendations.
