Stopped in to try their beer and to watch some World Cup matches. Was impressed with service at the bar even late (no food service), and loved the beers. Tried a mixed flight of IPA, Pale Ale, Sour, and a Stout - all were good and unique in the genre. My absolute favorite was a full pour of the King Balaton, sour cherry with a jammy and complex taste. Balaton is a Hungarian cherry, and I once had a great wine by a Michigan wine maker with the same, so I'm gonna say the Balaton cherry should be a Midwest tradition. There were plenty of TVs showing the World Cup matches, so I could keep up with the action. I look forward to more visits, and to try their extensive beer and food menu.
Work happy hour was hosted at Alter Brewing on a weeknight. This place was super busy! We had a lovely waitress who was doing her best managing seemingly too many tables, but she did not mess anything up which was impressive. We ordered the Bang Bang Cauliflower and BBQ Brisket Chips Platter as well as drinks to start. The group was split on favorites, although I do wish the Bang Bang Cauliflower was spicier. All entrees were tasty, some of the ones ordered were the fish and chips, summer truffle gemelli, the big mick, and pasta primavera. My only complaint is the summer truffle gemelli was a bit bland.

I was surprised to learn that they had a gluten-free bun for me to have with their grilled chicken sandwich. The bun did not fall apart like a typical gluten-free bread sometimes does. The sandwich also had avocado and bacon on it. The coleslaw was very good. The waitress was great. Good service and happy to help me with my gluten-free options. My husband had the spinach strawberry salad, which he really enjoyed. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a pretty good crowd there. The noise level was not bad at all. There were several families there with children and it looked like they had kids meals available although I did not look on the menu.
I've been to the dg location and knew a bit what to expect but we were really blown away in a good way. Decided on visiting with the whole family for brunch with a party of 10 on a Sunday. I have to say everything absolutely exceeded our expectations. All apps we had were better than average and everyone in our party were beyond satisfied with their drinks. Espresso martini was fav favorite and one of the best I've ever had. The service was very active clearing plates, filling refills and ultra attentive to our needs. It's decorated beautifully inside and has an outdoor patio. Happy to see Alter has expanded and yet still kept the magic of their original location.
I absolutely love this place! The vibe of this brewery is so cool, is one of those places that makes you want to stay and hang there and chill, the decor and paintings in the wall are just perfect! Now even better is the service, our server Hugo was two nights in a row the best, also the kitchen manager, we repeated the same restaurant while on a business trip just because of how nice, friendly and helpful they both were. We came tonite with our sales group and they all loved it, the food was fresh, flavorful and delicious and the beers are also a whole experience, you can find really unique beers and very fun flavors (like Milkshake Beer or the cucumber/lime one with tajin soooo good!). Definitely a place to enjoy your time, your drinks and your food
This is one of our go-to restaurant in Oak Brook for good beer and food. They have great selections of beer on draft and cocktails, too! This weekend, we went for late lunch. We had the chopped salad and Beef Stroganoff. The servings are quite big and can be shared. Both dishes are delicious! We enjoyed our meal. Our server is pleasant and very attentive. I like the vibes of this restaurant, very relax. Parking is not a problem.
This place has become a must do when I come to Oak Brook. Their beer is great and so is the food. The cheesesteak egg rolls were OMG delicious! The bartender was great even though she was very busy! Also plenty of TVs and a big screen at the bar are perfect for watching any big game.
They surprised me by making cauliflower taste good. Between that and the elote bites, the appetizers got inhaled. My wife always has to order the reuben and it got her seal of approval. I went for the brisket mac and cheese (amazing BTW, especially for a cold winter day). Somehow they just knew I like my brisket fatty. We came in during shift change so we had two different servers and a trainee. All of them did great. There's a giant TV over the bar for anyone invested in sportsball, but even if you're not, the food and atmosphere more than earns your attention. Seems to be a Yelp Elite tradition to rate this place 4 stars, but everything was perfect for our group so I'm going to dissent with a 5 star rating.
Updating to add that Alter has a nice kids menu! For $11 there are options like Mac n cheese (a reallll cheesy, extra goopy Mac n cheese!), chicken fingers, grilled cheese, marinara pasta and a few more. It was a nice big portion size for kids too with fries or seasonal fruit as side options.
This restaurant has great options with very tasty food choices. We enjoyed eating all the food we ordered. The waiter was good and so patient with our little one though our little one was constantly throwing the food on the floor The ambience was perfect for a brewery and looked extremely nice.

The servers are kind and attentive. The menu had some decent options but I noticed it was different from the last time I was there. I guess it changes sometimes. Beer options are nice. I like that they have mocktails. I ate brisket chips. The chips were home made. The brisket was nice and tender. I would have wanted it to be shredded some but the flavor was delicious. The cheese sauce, ranch and BBQ made for a good combination. I would return for more food and beer. The last time I went o had a gourmet grilled cheese and tomatoe soup.. it was probably tomato bisque but it to was delicious.
Great service, great atmosphere! Drinks were really well. Except for if you order a shot, I don't think it's a true 1.5 ounce. I got the mustard wings. I really didn't think they were good at all. The meat was cooked well, but they are fried very differently.
A relatively new location. This location is quite big and has bar, indoor and outdoor seating. When we arrived it was pretty empty, but we were seated at a table sort out of the way. It made us feel we were not part of the restaurant or bar. Our waitress was quick and attentive, but a bit gruff. My husband had a Kriek cherry Soul Ale, it was a bit pricey $9.50. I ordered the corned beef sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The corned beef was well cooked and lean. My husband had the buffalo garlic shrimp. The portion included 7 plump shrimp for $17. He also tried the burger od the month, the grillzilla. It was a huge burger with jalapeno, chihuahua cheese, chipotle tabasco ad other toppings served in a flour tortilla. After eating the shrimp, he took half home. 0verall, the place is new and spacious, with lots of beer and food options, but very pricey.

Tasty beer and delicious food! We ordered the shrimp tacos and Reuben sandwich. Both were very tasty, but personally, the Reuben was my favorite of the two. We also tried a few of their beers, and they were all enjoyable. The atmosphere was very trendy and inviting, and we had amazing service. It's also a great, spacious place to host an event, such as a birthday party or office gathering. They have a HUGE TV in the middle of the bar, which was perfect for watching the Bears game! Definitely will be back to try more of their beers! read more
Recently stopped in for the first time to have dinner with a friend and had a good experience. We ordered the cheesesteak eggrolls and bang bang cauliflower for apps and they both were amazing! The cauliflower tasted just like orange chicken lol highly recommend them! We also split the alter prime burger and thought it was so nice they separated the meal into two plates for us so we didn't have to do that ourselves (which we wouldn't have minded either). Burger was 10/10 - cooked perfectly! We both ordered beer flights and opted to have lighter options. Overall, we loved the beer but the orange hwip was prob my favorite! Tasted like a pineapple orange juice lol very delicious! Our server was very nice and attentive too! The only "issue" (wasn't really a big issue!) was that I wanted a booth and they said the booths were all reserved, but there was a whole other side that wasn't in use during the entire night we were there (several booths) and they didn't offer those. Not a huge deal but there wasn't an option to reserve a booth or else I would've made sure to do it. We had a great time overall! Food was delicious and service was great. Okay, let's kick things off with a high note, those grilled shrimp tacos absolutely phenomenal. The sauce was genuinely incredible super flavorful and really made the dish sing. Seriously, top notch would only come back for this dish. We also decided to try the giant pretzel. It was definitely impressive in size and tasted good, but at $25.99, it felt a bit on the pricey side for what it was. Maybe a slightly friendlier price point would make it an even more appealing appetizer. Now for something that didn't quite meet expectations, the Cajun chicken Alfredo. I was really looking forward to a classic, creamy Alfredo, but what arrived was a much thinner, runnier sauce that didn't quite hit that mark for me. While it did pack a nice spicy punch, I was hoping for more of the traditional Alfredo texture, and I also noticed there wasn't a whole lot of chicken in it. The patty melt was perfectly fine, a solid choice if you're looking for something straightforward, but it didn't really stand out as anything special, especially for the $20 price tag. One bit of a snag we hit was the parking situation, especially since we visited on a Saturday evening. It was a real hassle finding a spot and we ended up having to walk quite a distance from the Wild Berry lot which wasn't the most ideal start to our dinner and speaking of our experience, the service felt a little rushed and, unfortunately, came across as a bit unfriendly. It just dampened the overall vibe of the evening a little. On a brighter note the place itself is actually really cool.The ambiance is fantastic making it a great spot to hang out and the bar area looked perfect for catching some sports. Came here once for lunch with a friend and another time to celebrate some birthdays with family. Food was a little slow to come out but everyone had ordered something different. It's your typical pub type menu and the food is pretty filling . The big pretzel was a hit with both kids and adults. read more

Came by for dinner with some friends after an event nearby and decided to try a few different things. We were greeted and seated immediately, and were brought out water. As we looked through the menu we decided to share a few apps. I ended up wanting to try the Brie flatbread and the wings. For the wings I got a bbq sauce on it, it was good and had a kick to it. The flatbread was a bit of a let down for me because it felt rather soggy and needed a crunch to help out the Brie on top. Overall we had great service and would come back when in the area. Great option for dining with a big group of friends. read more

Super cute brews and food in a popular location. Arrived on a Friday night and able to get seating. Service is Chicagoland courteous. Darling decor. Ordered flights. The beer is ok- it has a similar taste running through them so looking forward to the continued refinement of their product. Great potential! The pretzel is the best I have ever had. 5 stars for the pretzel. You must get it. Most best pretzel on the planet. Can I have one every day? Ordered the flat bread. It was a miss. There are other great menu options that look worth trying. Overall I think this place is worth checking out and hope they keep iterating on what they have to become a true centerpiece of the area. read more

A cool brewpub with their own beer selection and great burgers. We ordered the Jalapeño Cheese Curds as an appetizer that had a nice heat to them. For the main course, I had The Big Mic with Beer Fries. It tasted like a more gourmet Big Mac. The beer fries were just breaded fries, so think a crispier fry. I tried their Hopular Kid and would recommend it to anyone who isn't a big fan of IPAs but wanted to try something different. The interior was a bit more upscale than you would think. Plenty of tables and TVs to watch a game. Our waitress was attentive and the food came out quick, so no complaints. read more

Overall, I enjoyed my dinner at Alter. I loved the fact that there was ample variety of beer. I like light beers, such as pale and lager. My husband like dark beer such as stouts and porters. We were both able to try a few sample before committing to our beer of choice. For food, we got the chicken wings. They were fried hard which I appreciated. My hubby liked the wings, I thought they were just okay. I thought the sauce on the side was good and fresh vegetables were crisp. For our main meal, we got the Chicago Cheesesteak and High Five Cheese Patty Melt. No complaints on our entrees. Our server was so good. Tiara W was so friendly and she knew the menu. She was busy too, yet her tables were well looked after. The restaurant was spacious, clean and decorated modern. All in all, I would come back to this establishment if in the area. Check it out if you like beer and good bar food. We saw the biggest pretzel being served and no one ever left this bar hungry. I give the food 4 stars but the service and atmosphere 5 stars. read more

I was here with a group of women for an event. The server we were given was super nice. She made sure we got everything we needed. When our food was brought out, it was well organized chaos as each of us had ordered different things previously . I was able to order beer to go from her directly, as I went to the counter to find out about what beer on tap is sold outside the brewery.. Regardless, we tasted some amazing beer. I ended up buying a four pack of Rally point a delicious beer for a good cause.. And also a 4-pack of Dark. The delicious Dark Lager available on draft and NoT distributed outside the brewery. I did get the burger the BIG Mick. And I agree with other people that their burgers are dry... this is a double patty, burger and luckily, there was sauce and cheese on it, but I removed the piece of bread in between and didn't bother to eat it. All I'm saying is ask if there's a charge for extra sauce when you order this burger... then maybe I would've kept the extra piece of bread in between the burgers. Overall, a really nice experience and a great brewery. I wish we could've met the Brewer, as a person giving us a presentation on alter Brewing, mentioned that they had someone from Lagunitas as their head brewer. read more
First time trying Alter Brewing + Kitchen w/ my pal Omer - We were seated immediately which was nice and given menus right away. We ordered the BBQ Brisket Chips for our Appetizer which was decent. For main entrees we ordered the Margherita Flat bread, Nashville Chicken Sandwich w/ Sweet Potato Fries, & Patty Melt w/ Sweet Potato Fries. We had a great time at Alter! The ambiance was lively, and the outdoor seating made for a perfect afternoon. The beer lineup was impressive, offering something for everyone. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was classic bar fare, well-prepared and satisfying. However, we'd suggest skipping the cucumber shrimp--ours was dry, lacked flavor, and seemed to be missing some ingredients. Fortunately, our waitress was very understanding and quickly removed it from the bill, which we appreciated. Overall, a great place for drinks, good vibes, and quality bar food! Far left - Polenta bites (these were just okay, not enough flavor, would not order again) Middle - Jalapeño curds (delicious!) The inside is decorated nicely and our server was nice and attentive. They answered any questions we had. I ordered the bang bang cauliflower and burger of the month. The cauliflower was a mix of good of crispy and a little soft. The burger of the month was a turkey dinner in burger form. It was a turkey patty with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. I would absolutely get this again. The fries were okay. Your typical fries. I did try some of my friend's chips and it was a bit salty. Overall, the food was decent. There is a service charge of 5% on the bill that I didn't notice until AFTER I paid and left and looked at the receipt. Just an FYI if you're dining in. read more

Can't go wrong with bar food, can ya? Stopped in to alter while in oak brook because the outside looked nice and inviting. Didn't disappoint when we walked in. Great service, seated fasted and tended to right on time. We didn't waste time. We ordered house wings with their three sauces: Captain Demo's Big Truffle, Alter BBQ, or spicy chili glaze, served with carrot sticks + ranch. We asked for the sauces on the side as we wanted to try them all. Very crispy and seasoned well. Nice size wing too! 10/10 must get The turkey burger was good; I believe there was some sweet smoky component about it that was inviting. The house chips were crunchy and a nice touch. The classic was grilled perfectly and didn't need any condiments to support the meal. It did its thing all on its own. We loved our server and know we will be returning. read more
