    Imperial Black Ale And Almonds

Amazing place in Villa Park that just looks like a dive bar but it's actually a brewery. It may be a small one but they still have somewhat of a pretty good selection to choose from. Lunar has been here for a long time. Certainly there's not as much to choose from than at a bigger brewery but this has some really interesting styles and there's someone to please anyone. They don't have much food so if you're hungry you'll be eating bags of nuts and pretzels. Got here for the first time, so we checked out some of the locally made offerings and it beat expectations. It looks like a dive bar and we didn't see any brewing equipment so it made us wonder if beer is brewed offsite. That hardly would be surprising as the place seems too small to handle this. Anyway it's still good beer. We tried a few of the house beers on tap. I had the Imperial Black Ale. It's $6 a pour. This isn't quite a pint, and one reason is because most beers are pretty strong. It's an imperial black ale. This has a 9.88% ABV and is made with Belgian ale yeast. Another beer was even stronger and cost a couple bucks more. They only have a few of the house beers on tap. As for the food there's not a lot. Mostly bags of nuts and pretzels. It's $1.75 or so for a bag. The beers and nuts of course are the best combination. Come here for a beer. It also has a pretty good selection of hard stuff so that's nice. If you wish have a few plus basic snacks.

Let me start out by saying, this is more of a dive bar atmosphere rather than a typical brewing company vibe. While they do make their own brews, they are only available to go in a growler, no cans or bottles for purchase. With that being said, I enjoyed the Kosmic Kolsch on tap. Their patio is nice and shady, and despite being in a parking lot, still feels more secluded. Music selection was good, and the guys working were nice, I believe one of them was the owner possibly. I did end up having to run next door to grab cash from the ATM, since it's a $10 minimum on cards, and I was just stopping for one quick drink. Luckily there is a bank next door and a TCF Bank in the Jewel across the street. Workers were masked and masks and hand sanitizer were available.

Lunar Brewing Co is definitely a dive but it's chill and I'm down with the atmosphere. I went in the late afternoon on a weekday so it was understandably pretty empty. The bar did have a decent amount of people seated around having some brews. When I went, they had 6 beers on tap including a blueberry witbier. Witbiers are my jam, fruitiness makes me happy, put them together and I'm as pleased as a peach. Peaches get really happy, in case you're unsure. I like the atmosphere at Lunar Brewing, their beer isn't half bad, overall it's a good time.

This is a pretty cool bar to hang out in. It's dimly lit, decorated with strings of lights and tons of signs on the walls. They have a great beer selection from all over the country and the world. There are tons of beer to choose from on their menu. There is also a good selection on tap. The bartenders are usually very friendly and helpful. My last visit, I tried the Total Eclipse Stout $6 and it was delicious! It was thick and had oatmeal and caramel flavoring. Looking at the snack menu, I saw that they offer Michael Anthonys (located down the road) pizzas here. There is both an electronic and old school dart board towards the back on the bar. Just ask for the darts from the bartender. For those Golden Tee fans, there is one here. Also, a couple of big screen TV's inside. 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday - Thursday 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday - Saturday

This a great neighborhood bar venue with an extensive and reasonably priced beer selection. There's a mellow low key atmosphere here, and it's quiet enough to have a nice chat with whomever you may be with, and while enjoying some very nice brews. No food here, so don't expect any. There's convenient parking right at the back, and they do take credit card fyi. You order your beers at the bar as there is no table service. There were plenty of tables and seats for the size of the place, though some of them are a bit away from the bar. I enjoyed on this evening: - Moondance IPA - Raspberry cream ale - Dark Horse Brewing Crooked Tree American IPA (Marshall, MI) The first two are brewed by Lunar and are amongst their signature offerings. My colleague and drinking pal had: - Kosmic Kolsch - Raspberry cream ale - Boulevard Brewing Tank 7 farmhouse ale (Kansas City) We enjoyed 'em all. I personally preferred the two IPA's I had over the raspberry cream ale, which was a little on the sweet side, but it was a nice to try anyway. Will try hard to make it back here someday, though it's not in the most convenient location for me.

This is a bona fide dive that just happens to make beer as well as feature high end guest craft beer. Aside from its meek appearance, I knew it was a dive when the "steak guy" came in soliciting meat (NOT a euphemism). There's also a jukebox that still plays CDs. You don't realize how much of a throwback that is until you see one. Most bars upgraded to TouchTunes, or play satellite radio off some electronic device created from the same Asian suffering. You'll also find the patrons are seemingly NASCAR eccentric townies. Unfortunately, I can't wax poetically about their house made beers. They lack body, flavor, and often times don't taste fresh. I've tried the majority they have on tap and thought they were "meh". The silver lining is the quality of rotating guest beers from breweries like Firestone Walker, Clown Shoes, Founders, etc. I don't mind the divey atmosphere, and certainly don't mind the good beer offerings. Though it can be pretty dull, Lunar Brewing is okay in my world.

This is one of the last standing genuine dive bars left. The staff is friendly. It's clean but rustic. Would highly recommend
